Sharp's Travels

After church Dean, Betty, Grandma, Cheri and I went up to Dade City to IHOP for lunch. When we got home Cheri and I brought the golf cart over to our place to give it a good cleaning inside. This afternoon I watched the NASCAR Race and Cheri read and took a nap. Late this afternoon we took the golf cart back over to Grandma’s and she said Grandpa didn’t have a very good day. We left there to take our evening walk and stopped to see Dean and Betty and ended up playing two games of dominos. The girls won both games. It hasn’t been a good year of the guys and dominos.

We picked up Grandma and the four of us went out for breakfast at the Golden Coral. After breakfast we dropped Grandma off at home as she is going to shuffle today. Darren, Cheri and I headed for Dade City to do some Geocaching. We found 8 caches. We also got to see a nice park and a motocross track at the fairgrounds that we didn’t know existed. Every time we go Geocaching we see places we didn’t about. It is one of the fun things about Geocaching. When we got home Darren and I went down to the Rec Hall to shoot some pool. Darren won two games and I did win one, but I think Darren let me win. At 3:30 pm we picked up Grandma and went to see Grandpa. He had another good day. Later we went out for pizza. This evening we played dominos at Grandma’s. Darren and Grandma won. Grandma was pretty happy about that.

Cheri and I walked while Darren showered and got dressed. Cheri fixed egg muffins for breakfast. Darren and I worked on his car as the GPS wasn’t work correctly. We found a syncing wire that wasn’t hooked up right. We make the change and it worked better, but still has a problem. Darren and I went to get our new Sprint air card for the computer so we will have access to the internet while we are traveling. It works much faster then the ATT service we had before. Late this afternoon we went to see Grandpa. We were surprised how much better he looked and was very talkative. He said he took 20 steps today and was only able to take 2 steps yesterday. So this was great news and hope that it continues. We had Grandma over for supper, Cheri fixed chicken stroganoff. Grandma played cards down at the Rec Hall this evening. Darren, Cheri and I went bowling. Let’s just say we had a lot of fun as the scores weren’t very good.

We went to Wal-Mart to pick up a few groceries this morning. At 10:30 am we went down to Ken and Eileen’s for a visit and then home. Darren called about 12:00 pm and said he was 25 miles from here. When he got here we went to Chili’s for lunch. Then we picked up Grandma and went to see Grandpa. When Grandpa saw Darren it really perked him up. He is still in a lot of pain. When we got home Cheri fixed supper for Grandma, Darren and us. Darren did some updates to our computer and did some clean up work on it. Later Darren and I went to Wal-Mart to pick up some transmission fluid for Grandpa and Grandma’s van, it was a quart low. We visited until 11:00 pm.

Pat and Roger left early this morning and we had an appointment at the nursing home to fill out paper work for Grandpa. We stopped in to see Grandpa before we left and he just got back from therapy, he was tired and in a lot of pain. It was 12:30 pm before we got home. This afternoon we walked down to see Ted and Joyce as they are leaving Friday to go back north to Canada. The rest of the afternoon Cheri tried to read and I tried to watch TV and both fall a sleep. So we had a nice nap. We did our evening walk and settled in for the night.

When we walked this morning we showed Pat and Roger around the park. We left early for Lakeland to do some Geo Caching. We found four caches. Two of them took a lot of time to find. At 1:00 pm we went and had Chinese for lunch. Then back to the park to play shuffle board. Cheri and I hadn’t played before and Pat and Roger didn’t know how either. So Cheri went and got Ken to come and show us how to play. Well Pat and Roger beat Cheri and I petty bad. Then we went out to Subway for subs and then home to eat them. Then it was time to finish the game of dominos that we started last night. Roger and I won that game. Then we played Five Crown, it was the first time Pat and Roger had played it. Roger won that game. Then it was time to watch Dancing with the Stars and American Idol. We were all tired and in bed by 10:30 pm

This morning early we went to the nursing home to fill out paper work for Grandpa, but the woman was in a meeting and we couldn’t wait as we had company coming. Pat and Roger Dunbar got here around 10:00 am. We went lunch at Chili’s and then to Zephyr Park for a walk. From there we made a trip to the airport and watched the sky divers come down. Then we went over to look at the ultralights. They didn’t have a pilot to take us for a ride. I think Pat would have gone up. Cheri and I went up a couple of years ago. When we got home Cheri fixed lasagna and peanut pie for supper. We started to play dominos and didn’t finish the game as the girls had to watch Dancing with the Stars.

Happy Easter to all of our family and friends. This is the earliest Easter has been since 1913 and it won’t be this early again until the year 2244. That’s what I learned in church this morning. There were 145 in church, our largest group this year. Cheri and I took Grandma out for dinner, we had Chinese. From there we went to see Grandpa. I think he has improved some. We left Grandma there and went back home. Cheri had some cleaning to do and I finished waxing the 5th wheel. Yea!!! I didn’t think I would ever get that job done. At 5:30 pm we went back and picked up Grandma and made a stop at Wal-Mart for groceries. It was 8:00 pm before we got done with our evening walk.

This morning Cheri picked up Grandma and they went to see Grandpa. I stayed home and worked. I mowed the lawn and also the neighbor’s lawn. Then I continued to wash the 5th wheel. It rained off and on but finally got that job done. I still have a section of it to wax. Cheri and Grandma got back around 1:30 pm. She said Grandpa was better today and was able to feed himself, was setting up in bed. Late this afternoon we got a good rain that lasted into the evening. Grandma, Cheri and I went down to Ken and Eileen’s to play dominos. It was a bad night for me, I came in on the bottom of the domino’s game, and Eileen won. Eileen fixed us coffee and strawberry short cake.

We got a call early this morning that they are going to move Grandpa to a nursing home in the rehab center. So off to the hospital we went and ended up waiting until 4:30 pm before they moved him. He is still having trouble with his blood pressure. It was 7:30 pm before we got home. It was a long and stressful day for all of us. Cheri and I both had a headache.

This morning we took Grandma to the hospital to see Grandpa. Cheri and I left around 12:00 pm and went home. Cheri did paper work and laundry. I did some more waxing on the 5th wheel. It was almost more than I could handle with the heat. It was sunny and 84 degrees. At least the 5th wheel is now half done. The air conditioner in Grandpa and Grandma’s van quit working, I took it in to see about getting it fixed and it is going to cost $700. I have an appointment for it at 8:00 am tomorrow. At 4:00 pm we went back to the hospital to pick up Grandma. Grandpa was doing better this afternoon. They got him out of bed and sitting in a chair for about a half an hour. Cheri fed him supper before we came home. We waited until after dark to take our evening walk, wanted it to be a little cooler.

Cheri slept in this morning and got caught up on her sleep. Grandma went for shuffle board tournament is morning and lost in the fist round. We picked up Grandma at 10:00 am and went to the hospital to see Grandpa. They were going to due some test this afternoon and when they sat him up his blood pressure drop so far that he passed out. They laid him back down and then his blood pressure was ok. They tried again and the same thing happened. So now they have called in the heart doctor and will have to wait to see what happens next. Cheri and I left Grandma with Grandpa and we went to get groceries. We went back to pickup Grandma at 5:00 pm.

At 9:00 am we picked up Grandma and took her to the hospital to see Grandpa and he was still in emergency. He said he was in a lot of pain and about 12:30 pm they came in and gave him some pain medicine. We left for home to get some lunch and then at 2:00 pm it was time to take Nikki to the airport. Grandpa was sleeping so Grandma rode along to the airport. We were at the airport plenty early and took time for ice cream and a nice visit before Nikki had to leave for her gate. It was 5:00 pm when we left in the rush hour traffic; it took an extra half hour to get back. We stopped to see Grandpa and he is now in a room on the third floor. The reason it took so long was we had to wait for a bed to open up. We dropped Grandma off at home and stopped by Dean and Betty’s and then Ken and Eileen’s to give them an up date on Grandpa. It was 8:00 pm when we got home. It was a long day and we are both tired. Cheri didn’t sleep good last night so we had a bite to eat and headed for bed.

Grandpa fell yesterday and wasn’t able to get up and Grandma had to get someone from next door to come in and help him up. He hurt is back and this morning wasn’t able to get out of bed. So after church Cheri made chicken and dumplings for dinner, Nikki made a cherry pie. We took it over to Grandpa and Grandma’s and Grandpa still couldn’t get up. So after dinner we call the ambulance to come and get him and take him to emergency at the hospital. They took x-rays of his back and didn’t find anything broke. They said they would keep him for the night. So we home and ordered pizza for supper. We played a game of dominos with Grandma. It was 10:00 pm when we got home.

Nikki, Cheri and I went to Golden Coral for breakfast this morning. Then it was off to the Big Top flea market. Nikki bought some dominos. At 12:00 pm we left for St Pete Beach and spent the afternoon walking the beach, picking up sea shells. It was very windy on the beach and didn’t seem so hot although it was in the high 80’s. It was 5:30 pm when we got home. Cheri had fixed some pulled pork for sandwiches and we took that over to Grandpa and Grandma’s for supper. Grandpa didn’t have a very good day, said he was very tired and his back hurt. After supper Grandma, Nikki, Cheri and I played dominos. Nikki and Grandma won the first game and Cheri and I won the second. We were all tired and in bed by 10:30 pm.

Nikki, Cheri and I left early for Tampa to go to the Florida Aquarium. It was real nice. We haven’t been in many aquariums, but this was one of the nicest, I highly recommend it. I am glad we went early because when we left at 1:00 pm there was a very long line to get in. From there we were going to the beach but it was raining and decided to get something to eat and come home, it was 4:00 pm when we got here. Cheri and Nikki went shopping; I took a nap and watched TV. This evening we played cribbage and Cheri won. Then we played dominos and Nikki won. That left me holding the bag

Early this morning we took Nikki and headed for the flea market. It wasn’t a good thing for Cheri and me as we spent too much money. We came back and picked up Grandma to go to Plant City for strawberry shortcake. It was our first time this year and it sure was good. When we got back Cheri and Nikki went shopping and I took a motorcycle ride. It has been over a month since I took a ride. I didn’t think the battery had enough to get the bike started, but she took off. It was a great day for a ride. Cheri and Nikki had fun shopping and didn’t get home until 6:00 pm. Then we went over to Grandpa and Grandma’s for supper. We had the left over lasagna and pie. After supper Grandma, Nikki, Cheri, and I played dominos with the new set we bought at the flea market for Grandpa and Grandma. Cheri and I won big time. I guess I need to have Cheri for my partner because it seems like that is the only time I win anymore.

Nikki and I stayed and visited with Grandpa while Cheri took Grandma for her doctor appointment. When they got home Cheri fixed lasagna for lunch with garlic cheese toast and peanut butter pie. After lunch, Nikki and Grandma played cribbage against Cheri and me. Cheri and I won two games and Nikki and Grandma won one game. Then we took Nikki was a walk around the park and stopped to see Dean and Betty. Then it was on to see Ken and Eileen. When we got back to Grandpa and Grandma’s it was time for supper. Grandma fixed toasted cheese sandwiches. This evening we settled in and watched Big Brother on TV.

I took Grandpa for his 8:30 am doctor’s appointment. It was a follow up visit. When I got back our new friends Randy and Linda Kemp were getting ready to leave. We won’t see them again for two years as they are going to spend next winter in Texas. This afternoon Cheri and I went to Grandpa’s heart doctor to get a new prescription and to Wal-Mart to pick up other medicine for Grandpa. Then we went to another doctor to make an appointment for Grandpa (a kidney specialist). At 7:30 pm we left for the Tampa airport to pick up Nikki. Her plane arrived a littler after 9:00 pm. It was 11:00 pm before we got home. Nikki will be with us for the next week; it is nice to have her here. Cheri has plans to go shopping with her.

We had a busy day. Cheri and I went for the 8:00 am breakfast here in the park. It was put on by the activity committee. At 11:30 we went to Chili’s for lunch with Randy and Linda, our neighbors from across the street. They will be leaving tomorrow and won’t be back for two years. After lunch Cheri and I went to pick up a tank of LP. Then we went to the doctor’s office to get a prescription for Grandpa. From there to a movie, we saw Vantage Point. It was ok. Then we went Wal-Mart to drop of Grandpa’s prescription and pick up other medicine for Grandpa and Grandma. It was 5:00 pm when we got home. Just in time for a quick supper and then down to the Rec Hall for the evening entertainment. The group we saw was called The Harmonicats. They put on a great show and all the music was with harmonicas. It was 9:00 pm before we got home.

We had to get up an hour earlier today (day light saving time). We get up when its dark and go to bed when its dark, how does that save day light? I guess those smart politicians know more than us. We had 91 in church this morning. After church nine of us went out for lunch at What-A-Burger. Cheri took a nap this afternoon and I was watching the NASCAR Race. It wasn’t very interesting so went over and visited with the neighbor. Later they came over to our place to visit. It was 40 degrees this morning and then warmed up to 67 for the day.

I didn’t sleep very well last night so was up a little before 5:00 am. Went to work on the other two chairs of Grandpa and Grandmas that needed to be re glued and covered. I got a lot done before Cheri got up. It was 62 degrees when I got up and that was the high for the day. It quickly fell to 59 degrees and stayed there most of the day, before it got colder, it was very windy and had a hard time walking this morning. By noon I had the chairs done and Cheri gave me a hair cut. This afternoon I took the chairs back to Grandpa and Grandma’s and put up a spray shower head that they can take down when they shower. Cheri spent most of the day doing laundry and cleaning. She took time out to make baked beans for the potluck supper here in the park. At 2:00 pm we went down to the Rec Hall to set up tables and chairs for the 5:00 pm potluck supper. There were 148 people for potluck and the food was great. It was 6:30 before we got home.

We had more rain last night and rain today, plus a hard rain this evening. When it wasn’t raining it was hot and muggy. We went out for lunch at Chili’s and had their bottom less soup and salad. Then it was over to Lowe’s to get glue and screws for Grandpa and Grandma’s chairs. We also made a stop a Wal-Mart for some groceries. Cheri and I worked on the chairs and got two of them done. When we took our evening walk we dropped them off and brought the other two home to work on. We went down to Ken and Eileen’s to play cribbage and dominos. It was another bad night for us guys as the girls won everything.

It was another day of spring cleaning for us. I work on the 5th wheel and now have it half washed. Couldn’t get any wax on as it rained off and on all after noon and evening. Cheri continued her cleaning inside the 5th wheel. This afternoon we had a Medicare meeting for Grandpa and Grandma, It lasted for 2 hours. I did get some work done on Grandpa and Grandma’s chairs. We did get our evening walk in between the rain showers.

We didn’t walk this morning as Cheri took Grandma for her 9:00 am doctor appointment for blood work. Then they went to Wal-Mart so Grandma could get medicine and groceries. I went right to work on washing and waxing the 5th wheel. I got the front done and a coat of wax on part of one side. I didn’t get done until 4:00 pm. We took our evening walk early as we were invited over to Dean and Betty’s this evening to play dominos. We played two games and the girls beat us guys bad!!

We had threats of rain all day, never did get very much. Cheri and I went to the flea market this morning. It is always fun looking at all the different things they have for sale. We did buy some grapefruit. Today we mailed out our tax information to the accountant, not looking forward to the end results. We took a ride to Lakeland for lunch at Red Lobster for their Lobster Feast, but after looking at the $31.00 price per person we decided we didn’t need lobster. When we got home I went to Grandpa and Grandma’s to get two of their dining chairs to recover the seats, got the old covering off and ready to put on the new. The old color didn’t go with the new drapes (a woman thing).

After our morning walk I went to work on the 5th wheel and got a coat of wax on the front of it. I am going to try and put two coats of wax on the 5th wheel this year. Cheri worked on taxes again. This after noon I made copies of tax papers to send to our tax accountant. Late this afternoon I took Cheri to the hair solon so she could get a perm. Then we went to Wal-Mart for groceries. It was after 6:00 pm when we got home. It was dark when we did our evening walk.

After church we went out for lunch with Dean & Betty and Donna to Wata Burger. This afternoon I worked on washing the front of the 5th wheel. Cheri started her spring cleaning in the bedroom. We took our evening walk early so I could watch the NASCAR Race. We did talk to some new people from Racine, Wisconsin.

Today was yard sale day here in the park. So our morning walk included all the yard sales. When we got done with that we stopped at the Rec Hall where they had a bake sale and craft sale. They also had hot dogs, meat ball sandwich and soup for lunch. So we had lunch there before we went home. It was a very nice day with a high of 74 degrees. Cheri and I didn’t do anything the rest of the day (lazy!). This evening after our walk we had Bud and Verlin Randolph come over for a visit and tell us about there trip to Alaska. We took notes of things that we should see. Cheri made a peanut butter pie that we had afterwards.

It was a cool morning but soon turned to a 72 degree day. It is hard to believe it is the last day of February, don’t know where the time has gone. We will be leaving here in less then two months. The guy came to fix the drapes at Grandpa and Grandma’s He found things wrong that we didn’t see. It took him about an hour and half to get everything fixed. Now they hang right and look wonderful. Cheri did laundry and work on taxes all day. When I got done with Grandpa and Grandma I started working on the 5th wheel. I got the roof washed and was badly in need of it. It took me 4 hours to get it done. Found some places that I need to re chalk, a job that I will do after I get the rest of the trailer washed and waxed.
