The plan for the day was to do a motorcycle ride before noon as the weather report was for rain this afternoon. Well it was raining by 9:00 am, so much for a motorcycle ride. We took the truck and went shopping, stopped at a craft store, Lowe’s, Wal-Mart and were back to the 5th wheel by 12:30 pm. After lunch we sat down and read, napped, watched TV, napped, read, napped. At 4:00 pm we went over to Sharleen’s for supper. We had leftover pork chops. We will be playing more games this evening. By the way it is now 6:00 pm and still raining. I guess God decided we needed a day of rest.

It started raining around 7:00 pm and rained all night and finally stopped at 8:30 am. The sun finally came out around 10:00 am. We lost electricity this morning; we only have 15 amps to work with so we have to make sure we turn something off before turning on the next thing. We are doing pretty good as this is the first time we tripped the breaker in the 5 days we have been here. We jumped on the motorcycle and took another 90 mile ride through the country side and stopped at a New Balance Outlet store. Cheri brought two pair of shoes. I didn’t find anything any in my size, I have a narrow foot and it’s hard for me to find shoes. We got back to the 5th wheel for a late lunch and then to a ride over to Lowe’s. I had a couple of things that I needed to return. Once again I am doing my bog early today. I have been elected to gill pork chops tonight for supper. I am sure it will be another night of games as Cheri was the big looser last night.

Cheri did a load of laundry this morning and I had to fill the water tank. Being we are setting in Sharleen and Robyn’s yard we only have 20 amps of power. So we have to be careful what we have on as far as electric goes. Cheri has clothes hanging all over inside the 5th wheel as we cannot use the dryer. At 10:00 am Cheri and I left for a motorcycle ride through the mountains and country side. We did a 78 mile loop that brought us back to Fryeburg. After a late lunch we made a trip to Wal-Mart and the drug store. On the way into Conway NH I saw a black bear run across the road between some cars. I thought sure he was going to get hit. By the time we got to the spot where he crossed he was already out of site. I uploaded yesterday’s blog early so the outcome of last night’s Five Crown game was that Cheri won. I am up loading today’s blog early also as I am using Sharleen’s DSL internet connection.

Today we were flying in the trees. We left Sharleen’s at 9:45am and headed for Lincoln, N.H. It was a little over 1 hour away. We plan on taking the Zip Line through the forest on Baron Mountain.

We traveled along the Kancamagus Highway. It was a pretty drive.

We got to Lincoln about 11:30am, found the Zip Line Canopy Tour office and we didn’t have to check in until 12:30 so that gave us time to pick up a Subway Sandwich for lunch and then check out a few of the small shops by the Zip Line Office.

At 12:30 we checked in and they gave us our gear and loaded us in a van to take the short 10 minute trip up to their base camp at Baron Mountain.

Once we arrived, we unloaded from the van and got into the safari bus for the final climb to our first Zip Line.

There were 12 people in our group. We had 6 different Zip Lines to ride and a suspended bridge (10” wide and 50ft long) to cross. Sharleen and I were kind of slow about crossing, but we were at the end of the pack so we didn’t hold anyone up. It was scary to step out into space when you were so high off the ground. Once you started your decent you forgot about where you were and enjoyed the ride!

It was a breathtaking, awesome experience. We have already decided on our next trip to Maine we are ready to tackle the Zip Line that flies high above the trees, 210ft above the ground.

We stopped at a scenic overlook and a swimming hole, in the river along the highway. There were lots and lots of people there trying to ease the heat of the day.

We arrived home at 4:30pm. It gave us just enough time to freshen up and change clothes before heading to the Masonic Hall here in Fryeburg for the Baked Bean Supper. Bake bean suppers are a tradition here in Maine. It was really good. I haven’t had baked beans like this for years.

What a beautiful day!

Check out the pictures for the day. See album Zip Line

We had a short rain shower before we got up. It was very foggy and a 50% chance for rain. The first thing we did was go uptown and fuel up the truck. It took 98 gallons to make her happy, hadn’t filled up since Michigan. When we got back the fog was lifting and we could see some blue sky. I told Cheri to get ready for a motorcycle ride. We headed out for Mount Washington. I had always wanted to ride the motorcycle to the top. (Part of my bucket list). It was very foggy at the top so my pictures didn’t come very good. The road is 8 miles long, very steep and rough, a 4725’ ascent. It was 51 degrees at the top and 74 degrees at the bottom. The summit is 6288’. You can visit their web site for more information www.mt-washington.com. It was 2:00 pm when we got back to the 5th wheel and had a sandwich for lunch. We just got done with lunch when Sharleen got home from work. Cheri spent the rest to the afternoon with Sharleen and I did some work on the computer. We have such a slow speed with our air card so I took my computer over to Sharleen’s and used her DSL so I could upload pictures of Mount Washington. This evening we played 5 Crown and the Dice Game. Sharleen won one of the Dice Games and I won the rest of the games, Cheri was the big looser tonight. For pictures of the day see album Mount Washington

We woke up to a foggy wet day. It rained off and on all day. Sharleen and Robyn took us to the largest quilt store in the country. It’s called Keepsake Quilting. They had everything from needle point to quilting, along with all the different materials. I am not much interested in these things, but I did enjoy walking and looking through the store. Cheri bought some more quilting material for a project she wants to do. From there we stopped at the Old Country Store & Museum. It was established in 1781 and had everything that you would find in an old country store. Then it was on to the Yankee Smokehouse for a dinner of smoked ribs and pulled pork. It’s the best place for smoked meat in the area and there is always a waiting line to get in. We were here three years ago and nothing has changed and excellent food. From there we stopped to view an old covered bridge that had been pulled off the river. The National Society for the Preservation of Covered Bridges is doing a complete restoration of this bridge and then will put it back over the river. In 1956 there were approximately 2,000 covered bridges in North America. Today less than half of them remain. Then we stopped at a South West Indian store, where they had many things that were made by the Indians from south west United States. It was very interesting and had lots of jewelry. We also stopped at two farm markets and gift shops to view the wining Adirondack chairs that were in a painting contest. It was after 4:00 pm before we got home. Robyn and I watched the NASCAR Race which I had recorded and Cheri and Sharleen played Five Crown. After the race we had fresh blueberry pie and ice cream before we played a game of dominos which Robyn and I won.

It rained again most of the night and several sprinkles during the day. Sharleen had a new screen door that she wanted installed so Cheri volunteered me to do it. It turned out to be a bigger job then I thought it would be. After I got the bottom of the door cut off Sharleen painted the raw wood. While I was waiting for the paint to dry I unloaded the motorcycle and started to clean it when the first shower came. The girls wanted to go uptown for the Blueberry Festival and have chicken barbeque for lunch. Then they had to go to the craft show. By the time we got back to Sharleen’s the paint was really dry. While I finished installing the screen door, Sharleen and Cheri went out to picked blueberries and made a pie for supper. After supper we played a game of dominos. Robyn and Sharleen had never played Mexican train. So Cheri and Sharleen were partners and Robyn and I were partners. Robyn and I won the game. Robyn says when she reads our blogs that the girls are always winning and said I had to tell the score. We beat them pretty bad with a score of 73 to 735, low score wins.

It started raining in the night and rained all day, finally quit around 4:00 pm. We had to close up the 5th wheel in the rain and also had to use the dump station on the way out. Needless to say I got pretty wet before we got on the road. When we parked the 5th wheel coming into the campground was on a grass site and with all the rain that they have had we made ruts 4 or 5 inches deep. Wasn’t sure we would get out the next morning. I put the traction control on in the truck and made it out, could tell the truck was about to lose traction before we got moving. I don’t know why they didn’t put us on a site with gravel as they had several of them. We only had 65 miles to go to get to Sharleen and Robyn’s (Cheri’s sister and niece) (Fryeburg Maine), we arrived at 12:30 pm. Sharleen was at work and Robyn had gone down to the coast for a few days. Sharleen got home around 3:00 pm and Robyn a while later. After supper we took a ride for ice cream and to see if we could find a moose. No luck on the moose but the ice cream of good. It was after 8:00 pm when we got home.

We were slow getting around this morning. We just didn’t seem to have the steam we needed to get going. We finally got on the road by 10:15 am and our first stop was Wal-Mart to get badly needed groceries. The rest of the day was spent driving through the country side and rolling hills of New York and the green mountains of Vermont. It made for a relaxing day. We arrived in Lancaster NH around 5:00 pm and are staying at the Beaver Trails campground for the night. Once again our internet service is very slow.

We took our time packing up this morning. We weren’t ready to go until 10:30 am.

We crossed back into the US only about 10 miles from our campground.
Bud & Joyce Avery, a couple from Baker Acres in Florida, lived only about 75 miles down the road in Massena, NY. We called to see if they would be available for lunch and headed their way.

We parked in the old Wal-Mart parking lot and Bud & Joyce came and picked us up. We had lunch at one of their favorite diners. Once we had finished we headed over to their place for coffee.

They wanted to show us some of the sites, so we all went over to the St. Lawrence Seaway, Dwight D. Eisenhower visitor’s center. This is one of New York’s busiest tourist attractions. An observation deck is located on top of the Center to provide a view of vessels as they transit the Eisenhower Lock. We were lucky enough to come just as a big ship from Greece, loaded with sugar, approached the locks and wanted to go through. Twenty-two million gallons of water are used during each transit to raise and lower ships more than 40 feet in less than 10 minutes. This ship was over 600 ft. long. It was a site to see.

Our next stop was the St Lawrence-FDR Power Project which services both NY and Canada. It was a huge facility and we checked out the museum on site. They had hands on exhibits that explained the basics of energy and electricity.

We stepped out on the wrap-around deck and got a panoramic view of the St Lawrence River.

Bud & Joyce took us around to check out a couple of campgrounds and around 6:00 pm we headed back to the 5th wheel and moved it to a lot at the Massena International Kampground and got set up so we could show Bud & Joyce our home before going out for supper. We closed up the restaurant and went back to Bud & Joyce’s for coffee.

Bud brought us home around 9:00 pm and it was time to call it a night.

We hurried around this morning and headed into Gananoque. We were taking the Gananoque Boat Line out for their 5 hour Boldt Castle Stopover Tour from the dock in Gananoque.

We boarded and found a seat on the lower level, right up front. We had a great view of everything and it was close for Gay to walk out into the open bow to take pictures.

We headed out into the St. Lawrence River—home of 1000 islands (they really said there were 1864 islands). There were some beautiful homes on the islands—a number of the islands were so small the house covered almost all the island.

It took us about 1 ½ hours to reach the Boldt Castle. They dropped us off there for 2 hours. We had to have our passports along and go through customs because we were back in the US there.

The castle was amazing. It was molded after buildings in the 16th century. It is six stories high from the foundation level of the indoor swimming pool to the highest tower room, 127 rooms in all. George Boldt built this castle for his wife and when she died, he stopped all the work on the castle.

The lower floor rooms are completed and the grand staircase to the second floor along with 1 bedroom on the second floor. Construction is underway for the remaining rooms. People are allowed to wander around on the different levels.

We checked out the underground passage where goods were to be transported from barges by way of the tunnel to storerooms within the Castle’s foundation, thereby avoiding the main floor.

Also located on the property is the Alster Tower (or play house). The Play House was completed and occasionally occupied by the Boldt family during the years while the castle was being built. It even had a 2-lane bowling alley in the basement level.

There was a power house. The Bolts intended to electrify the island. It looked a mini castle.

The Yacht House was across the water on Wellesley Island. The family had 3 yachts and an enormous houseboat. The Yacht House was the first of these remarkable buildings to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

It was neat to walk around the island and check out all the buildings. We bought a cookie and an ice cream cone to tie us over until supper.

The trip back went well. We were able to get our same great seats. Seeing the millionaire alley was a site. What beautiful homes and most of them were just summer residences!

Back at our home dock we once again had to go back through customs because we were arriving back on Canadian soil.

Our boarding pass included a $10 ticket for each of us at the nearby casino. They gave us an extra $5 when we checked in. We played the nickel machines. I lost all my money and Gay quit when he’d made $18.30.

We drove uptown and spent the winnings on supper at Arthur’s. We had a prime rib sandwich with veggies and homemade fries.

A GREAT DAY!

Gay has uploaded pictures of the day. See album Boldt Castle.

I was up by 6:00 am and Cheri was up at 6:15 am. By 8:45 am we were closed up and hooked up and ready to hit the road. We had coffee with Paul and Bev and I got my blog updated. We said our goodbyes and were on the road by 9:45 am. It was a non eventful day. We traveled 330 miles, we did have stop and go traffic in Toronto for about five miles. We arrived at the 1000 Islands Camping Resort around 4:30 pm. After we got set up we went down town to get our cruise tickets for the Island and Boldt Castle tour. It is a five hour tour that leaves at 10:00 am. Then it was back to the campground for supper and an evening of unwinding. We had hard time finding a place for internet service today.

We didn’t get up until 7:00 am. It’s been a long time since I’ve stayed in bed that late. We only have 15 amps of power here and I blew the fuse the first thing this morning so we didn’t get power back until around 10:00 am. I thought the garage was locked and I wouldn’t be able to get in to change the fuse. When I told Paul what happened he said the garage wasn’t locked. Any way when you don’t have power it’s more like camping. This afternoon we went for a ride out to the air port to see an old war bird and it wasn’t there. So we took a walk again on part of the Dunlop Heritage trail. We hiked to Dr. William Dunlop’s tome. It is high on the hill with a beautiful view of the river valley. Then we stopped down town at the square for a flea market. We got home about 4:30 pm and did pork chops on the grill for supper. We played one game of dominos that the girls won and the dice game which Cheri won. I have attached pictures of Dunlop gave.

At 10:30 am today we went down town to the square with Paul and Bev for the car show. Earlier we had a rain shower and Paul wasn’t sure if he wanted to take his 1958 Chevrolet Impala convertible, but as the sun started to come out he decided to take it down. We had a hotdog for lunch at an old lunch wagon on a Model T Ford, sure was neat. We got home from the car show around 4:00 pm and did chicken on the grill for supper. This evening we went for a ride to look at some houses. One had a creek running underneath it. Another was built between to silos where an old barn had once stood, very neat. Then we took a walk on the Dunlop Heritage trail. It crossed over the old CPR Bridge that was built in 1906 and is 104 feet long and weighs 38 tons. There were several trails that lead off the main one and we took the one down along the river. On the way home I got some beautiful pictures of the sunset out over Lake Huron. We played a game of dominos that the girls won. It was 1:30 am before we called it a night. What a wonderful day to be with good friends. I have uploaded pictures of the day. See album Goderich 7-18-09.

Last night Cheri put a corn beef in the crock pot so we could have Ruben sandwiches for lunch today. This forenoon Bev cut Cheri’s hair. I worked on the computer while Paul went over to their apartments to check on some things as one of their tenets moved out without telling them. Being we are in Canada, we don’t have any internet service with our sprint air card. So I used Paul and Bev’s internet connection. I also work on the back up camera on the 5th wheel. The picture kept coming and going. I think the problem was in the external antenna. So I disconnected it and used the short antenna and everything seems to be working OK. The real test will be when we get on the road. After lunch Paul and Bev took us to Bayfield which is south of Goderich. They have a lot of small shops for all the tourists and prices to go along with it. On the way home they showed us a large windmill like they use to build in Holland. It was closed but did get some pictures of it. I also got some pictures of some old barns. We did brats on the grill for supper and then a couple of games of dominos, the girls won one and us guys won one. It was another great day.

We only had 177 miles to go today so we took our time getting on the road; in fact it was 9:15 am. We arrived in Goderich Ontario around 2:00 pm. Goderich is located on the east side of Lake Huron and for you people that live in the US it is about 150 miles north of Detroit. We are visiting friends Paul and Bev Webb. They have a place just up the hill from us in Florida. We will be staying in their yard for a few days. After we got set up and a long visit we did hamburgers on the grill for supper. After supper Paul and Bev took us down by the lake where they have a long board walk that winds for miles along the lake and beaches. There were lots of flowers and beautiful homes on the bluff above the lake. We got to see the salt mine. It goes down over 6,000 feet and then runs for miles under the lake. Then we went down town to the square where the court house is in the middle of the square. There was a music concert going on at the square. They showed us the two apartment buildings they own. When we got back to their place we sat down and played a game of dominos that the girls won by one point. At 11:30 pm we called it a night. I have uploaded a few pictures of the day, Salt Mine and grain elevator and along the lake

We were on the road by 8:15 am. We did 433 miles today. If you check our map you can see we went right down through Chicago. We didn’t have any problems until we got on the Indiana I-94 toll road. There had been a bad accident and the flight for life helicopter was setting right in the middle of the road. So we were routed off the toll road for about a half a mile. Then we had to pay toll to get back on the toll road. We were backed up for 45 minutes waiting for cars and truck to go through the toll booth. There wasn’t any attendant and you had to use cash or credit card to get though. We arrived at Walnut Hills Campground in Durand MI around 6:00 pm. The campground is very nice and we didn’t have to unhook from the truck.

postheadericon Gay July-14-09

This morning was pack up day as we are moving to Rio Wisconsin. It is only 70 miles so no hurry to get on the road. It was nice just to sit and relax after the busy days we have had. We finally got on the road at 12:30 pm and arrived at Willow Mills Campground around 2:00 pm. We will be staying here one night and then will be heading out in the morning to start our trip to Maine with several stops along the way. Terry and Andy Milfred have invited us over to their place for supper and then they came out to see our 5th wheel. We had a nice visit catching up on what everyone has been doing for the last couple of years. They also went on a trip to Alaska last year. So we had a lot of fun looking at pictures and comparing notes from our trips.

Cece spent the night with us again. Once again it was 49 degrees this morning, turned on the fire place to take the chill off in the 5th wheel. Coz and Nikki came over for breakfast. We sat around drinking coffee and visiting while Cece played on the computer. Later we played a new dice game some friends show us, lots of fun. Then Cece wanted to play Apples to Apples so we went outside to the picnic table behind Ray and Espie’s house to play. Around 2:00 pm Coz and Nikki packed up their things and we headed back to their house. We played a couple of games of cribbage that the girls won. Around 4:30 pm Ray, Espie, and Coz’s mother arrived. We all headed to Beaver Dam for Chinese. It is our favorite Chinese restaurant and didn’t think we would get there this trip. When we got back to Coz and Nikki’s it was time to say our goodbyes as we won’t see them again until next spring. It was really hard to say goodbye to Cece.

Cece stayed all night with us, says she like camping out. It was 49 degrees this morning and turned on the fire place to take the chill out of the 5th wheel. It did warm up quickly as it was 70 degrees by 10:00 am. Cece helped Cheri fix breakfast for us. We just got done when Coz came over to see how Cece made out and was surprised to see us all up and done eating. So Cece and Cheri fixed breakfast for Coz. We rode the motorcycle to church this morning, it was a little cool but nice with a jacket on. Being we are now staying in Campbellsport it was a 50 mile trip to church and back. This afternoon we played games with Cece, lawn darts and hide-in-seek. It has been 60 years since I played hid-in-seek. I was fun for all of us. This evening Ray did chicken and pork chops on the grill. After visiting with everyone and a few tours of our 5th wheel we settled in for the evening with a movie that Cece wanted to watch (fly away home).

We got a hard rain last night. It started around 2:30 am, lots of thunder and lighting. It was over by 4:00 am so we could do our morning walk. Today was pack up day as we have to leave the fairgrounds because the fair is going to be starting on Wednesday. Before we left we made a stop at Coz and Nikki’s, Coz wanted me to install a motions detection light switch in their entry way. Then Cheri wanted to go to Wal-Mart for groceries. So it was noon before we got on the road to Campbellsport. It was only a half hours drive. Ray had a spot all ready for us when we got there. After we got set up I did some busy work on the truck and 5th wheel. Coz, Nikki and Cece are also staying here with Ray and Espi. Coz had to work today so he didn’t get here until 7:30 pm. After supper I was pretty tired so I went back to the 5th wheel and watched the NASCAR Race. Around 9:00 pm Cheri and Cece came back. Cece is going to spend the night with us. She thinks she is camping out (she is seven).

Once again the four of us were on the morning walk by 6:30 am. We weren’t sure we were going to walk as we had a few sprinkles just before we started to walk, no rain for the walk. In fact that was all the rain for the day. Greg, Jeanenne, Cheri and I were ready at 8:45 am to leave for Farrerals Restaurant. We met Darrell and Lynn Zacharias (friends from Brandon) for breakfast. It has been over five years since we have seen them. We were in the restaurant for two hours visiting. Then we went back to the 5th wheel to show them our new home. They also looked at Greg and Jeanenne’s 5th wheel. We visited for another two hours before Darrell and Lynn left. I hated to see them leave as we were having such a good time visiting. Greg and Jeanenne got their 5th wheel closed up and were on their way home by 1:30 pm. We took a motorcycle ride to Brandon to see John and Linda for about an hour and then to the meat market to get some more of their good meat. It was 5:00 pm when we got home. Cheri started supper as Nikki and Cece was coming over. I washed the truck and was ready for supper at 6:30 pm. Coz had to work until 7:00 pm and didn’t get here until 8:00 pm. We played a couple of games of cribbage.

Greg, Jeannene, Cheri and I headed out for our morning walk at 6:30 am. Then it was back to Greg and Jeannene’s 5th wheel for breakfast. After we all got showered and dressed Greg took us for a ride through the Kettle Moraine area. We made a stop at a lookout tower that is the highest point in the Kettle Moraine forest, 97 steps to the top of the tower. We got back to the 5th wheel around 1:00 pm. Had a quick lunch and then headed out so Greg could shop for a GPS unit. He found the one he wanted at Best Buy here in Fond du Lac. They were sold out so we drove up to Appleton to get one. It was 5:30 pm when we got home. Jeannene had pork chops going in the slow cooker for supper. After supper we watched a little TV and played two games of Five Crown. It was another wonderful day in the neighborhood. Here are pictures from the top of the lookout tower.

postheadericon Gay July-8-09

It was 7:30 am before we headed out for our walk, Cheri slept in. I worked on cleaning up the bike as it was covered with bugs from the ride last night, took some elbow grease to get them off. Cheri did a load of laundry. Around 11:00 am Greg and Jeannene Peterson, friends we have known for many years arrived with their 5th wheel to spend a couple of days with us. Cheri fixed a lunch of munchies. This afternoon we took a ride down to Camp Byron. Jeanene has a seminar to attend next weekend and wanted see where they could park their 5th wheel. We took the long way back for a ride through the country side. For supper I did brats on the grill and Cheri made a potato salad. After supper we took a walk around the fair grounds to work off our supper and walked over to DQ for a Blizzard. I said now we have to walk around again to work off the Blizzard, I didn’t have any takers. We played a couple of games of Five Crown which Jeanene won one and Cheri won the other one. It was a great day to spend with friends.

We were out for our morning walk before 6:00 am. It was a little cool but nice for walking. After our walk we had a cup of coffee and I started washing the 5th wheel. I wanted to get it done before it got too hot. Nikki had to work today so Coz and Cece came over for breakfast. Cheri fixed pancakes, eggs and sausage. I took a break from washing the 5th wheel for breakfast. Then it was back to work on it. I finally finished around noon. Cheri did cleaning and laundry. This afternoon we made a trip to Wal-Mart for groceries. After supper we took a motorcycle ride to Friesland where we use to live. Every Tuesday night they have a band concert in the park and serve homemade pie and ice cream. We go to visit with some old friends. We left for home around 9:00 pm and was a cold ride. It was the first time we have ridden this motorcycle after dark. The lights are the best I have ever had on a bike. It was an 80 mile trip. Cheri went right to bed and turned on the electric blanket to get warm.

After going to bed early last night we were up early this morning. We were out walking by 6:15 am, a very nice morning. We went over to Coz and Nikki’s around 9:30 am. Coz had a project for us to work on, rebuild his recliner, it no longer will recline. That turned out to be a bigger job then I thought it would be, had to get some different screws. It was a two man job with all the springs wanting to push the opposite direction from the way we wanted to go. Finally got that done and decided to check the sofa also and found some loose screws and some that needed to be replaced. This afternoon I work on trying to fix a rattle in the dash of the truck. Thought I got it fixed but after a ride it was still there. I guess it will be there for a few more days before I get back at it. Late afternoon we watched a movie with Coz and Nikki, I should say I tried to watch because I slept through most of it. We had pizza for supper and played a couple of games of cribbage that the girls won. We had planned on going for a motorcycle ride but decided it was just too windy to enjoy a ride.

Cheri and I got on the motorcycle and headed over to Nikki and Coz’s. We had decided a couple of days ago we were going to take a motorcycle ride to Stevens Point to see Coz’s brother. We were on the road by 8:45 am. It was a beautiful day with lots of sun shine and fluffy clouds with a high of 80 degrees. We took all back roads up and the main highway back to Fond du Lac. We traveled 195 miles. We were going to order in pizza for supper but we were still full from the meal we had at noon. So we played a couple of games of cribbage and then Cheri and I headed for home. We were both tired from the sun and fresh air and were in bed by 9:00 pm.

Happy firecracker day to everyone. We didn’t do a whole lot today. I left here at 8:45 am with Coz’s motorcycle and headed for the Harley dealer to have an oil change done and a new rear tire installed. Coz had to work today so this was my way of helping him. So for the next three hours I got to talk to a lot of sales people and check out all the new and used bikes for sale also all the accessories. Nikki and Cheri came at about 10:30 am. They checked out the Harley clothing. I did buy a shift lever linkage cover. It was 12:30 pm before I got home. Nikki and Cheri arrived around 1:00 pm. We had a snack for lunch. Nikki headed for home, said she had some laundry to do. Cheri and I took it easy the rest of the afternoon. I was going to go for a bike ride but the rain took care of that. At 5:30 pm we headed over to Coz and Nikki’s for supper. Supper was late as Coz didn’t get done work until 7:00 pm and was 7:30 before he got home. It gave me a chance to put another coat of plaster on the wall. Maybe Monday a little sanding and it will be ready to paint. We played a couple of games of cribbage that we guys won, we are on a roll. It was 10:00 pm when we got home. Cheri went to bed and I had to watch the NASCAR Race that I had recorded. I didn’t get to bed until 12:30 am.

The weather has finally straighten out again as it was a beautiful day with sun shine and a high of 77 degrees. We had a good morning walk and were ready to go out for breakfast at 9:00 am with John and Linda (friends from Brandon). After breakfast John and Linda came back to the 5th wheel to check it out as they hadn’t seen the new one. I received the light bar today so this afternoon that was my project. Of course I had to change the way they had in the directions on how to install it. I always want to improve on things. The job is done and looks pretty good although I thought it would give off more light. Maybe the bright sunlight had something to do with it. I made a call to check to see if the motorcycle was done and they said they just finished and was giving it a wash job. So Cheri and I headed out to pick it up. On the way we stopped at the post office to mail a package to Grandma. Then a stop at the jeweler to pick up Cheri’s rings, she had a couple up loose diamonds (in the rings). Finally to the Harley dealer to pick up the motorcycle should be good for another 10,000 miles. Coz had to work late so we had Nikki come over for supper. I did brat burgers on the grill. After supper the three of us played Five Crown and then a couple of games of cribbage when Coz got here. With God’s help we had another great day.

We were able to walk this morning, but it was cool and cloudy. The sun did come out late this afternoon. We spent the day seeing a lot of old friends from the area where we use to live and work. We had lunch with the people we use to work with at Randolph (CentruryTel). Then it was off to Friesland to see our old house and stop at the lumber yard to visit with Bruce. He and his crew built our house in Friesland. From there we headed to Brandon to meet friends and go out for supper. It was a great day seeing some of our friends and catching up on what has happen with them in the last year. It was 10:00 pm before we got home.

It was 53 degrees this morning and no sun again today, not my kind of weather. We were ready to walk this morning and when we opened the door we were met with a heave mist in the air, so I closed the door and got another cup of coffee. After getting showered and dressed we went to the Harley dealer to make an appointment for the motorcycle; it’s time for the 10,000 mile check up and a new rear tire. From there we went to Menards as I was looking for a 6 foot piece of aluminum angle for the back of the 5th wheel. I have ordered a 6 foot light bar to attach to the motorcycle lift. It has tail lights, left and right signals, and stop lights on it. I figure the aluminum angle would be the best to keep down the weight. On the way back we stopped at Wal-Mart to pick up my medicine. This afternoon we took the motorcycle over to the Harley dealer for the appointment tomorrow. On the way back we stopped at Fleet Farm where I found the aluminum angle I wanted. The rest of the afternoon was spent rebuilding a cabinet shelf near the TV. About three weeks ago when we were closing up the 5th wheel I was putting the TV down when it caught the end of the shelf and tore it loose. I guess it was too close to where the TV glides down near it, don’t think I will have a problem with it again. This evening Cheri made a potato salad and we went over to Coz and Nikki’s for a supper of brats on the grill, potato salad, and fresh corn on the cob. Then we played two games of cribbage which we guys won in fact we skunked the girls both games.

Wow! Hard to believe this is the last day of June, don’t know where the time has gone. We didn’t walk this morning as Cheri didn’t think we had time because we had to be ready to leave for our dentist appointments in Beaver Dam at 8:00 am. We both got our teeth cleaned and both had some touch up work to be done. They worked us in as soon as they got our teeth cleaned we both needed a 10 minute appointment. It is nice to have that done. Cheri wanted to stop at a couple of stores on the way home. One of the stores was Fleet Farm and I said OK as that is one of my favorite stores. It was noon before we got back to the 5th wheel. Bill and Barb Mullen from Beaver Dam came for a visit; they wanted to see our new 5th wheel. We had a very nice visit and then at 4:30 pm we went out for supper. After supper we said our goodbyes at the restaurant and headed for home. We never did see any sun today and the temp was only 63 degrees for a high. It needs to be a little warmer to make me happy.
