Gay June-14-10

Today was Flag Day I hope everyone proudly displayed their American flag. Actually we should do it every day. Cheri and I called some friends (John and Judy) in Holmen Wisconsin last night to see if they would be home today. We didn’t get anyone so left a message for them. This morning we didn’t have any plans so we took our time and did a long walk around the race track here at the fairgrounds. After coffee and breakfast we took a ride up to Westby to see what they had for stores to check out. We found a couple of neat stores and then we had lunch at Ole and Lena’s Kaffe Hus. We both had a corn beef sandwich which was super. Then we each had a dish of ice cream. Cheri picked up a brochure there that had directions to three Amish stores near Cashton. So we headed in that direction to the shops. After we did that we headed on down the road and stopped at some Amish farms to see what they had to offer. One was a bakery, another was a quilt shop. Then on the way back we stopped at an Amish cheese factory and got some fresh cheese curd. Then as we headed back to Viroqua we stopped at an antique shop where we saw some very nice things. When we got in the truck to leave we got a call from John and Judy. They just got home from a 10 day trip to Alaska. So we turned the truck around and headed for Holmen. We arrived at their place at 4:30 pm. We visited for a while and then went out for supper and then back to their place for more visiting. It has been over three years since we have seen them so we had a lot of catching up to do. Finally it was time to head back to the 5th wheel so we spent another night here in Viroqua.
