We had planned to go for a motorcycle ride today but when we got up it was cloudy and looked like rain, so we changed our plans for the day. We relaxed this morning and then this afternoon we went to see the movie The Help. It is the best movie we have seen in years and everyone should see it. It was about a sad time in American history. Thanks Pam for letting us know about this one or we may have missed it. After the movie we made a quick stop at Wal-Mart to pick up a few things so Cheri could make chicken and dumplings for supper. Nikki came about 5:30 pm after work to eat with us. Then of course we had to play a game of Hand and Foot which Cheri won. Oh about the rain, all we ever got during the day was a few sprinkles. But this evening it did rain a very nice gentle soaking rain, which we needed.

Nikki picked up Cheri a little before 9:00 am and headed to the Mall to shop. I worked on the truck tail lights. I had two of the led tail lights that were partly burned out. I had checked and they want $60 dollars for each new one. So I checked around and found some for $15 dollars each. The upper lights in the headache bar where ok, it was just the lower ones that needed to be replaced. So what I did was replace all four of them so they would all match as I am funny that way, I have to have everything be the same. The new ones would not plug in to the existing plug as the new ones had a different type of plug. So I had to get out the soldering gun and heat shrink to make the change, a small price to pay for the change. Then I took the two good ones that were left and put them on the motorcycle lift. I had round incandescent ones on the motorcycle lift and I didn’t think they were bright enough so I changed them out with the led lights from the truck. So it was a win, win situation. It was after 3:00 pm before I got done with my projects. Cheri had gotten home shortly after noon and spent the afternoon reading. Nikki came over for supper and we had the leftover brats and corn on the cob from yesterday. We played one game of Hand and Foot that Nikki won. She headed for home at 7:00 pm as Coz gets off work at 7:00 pm.

After church we stopped at Wal-Mart to pick up my medicine and a few groceries. While we were in Wal-Mart Cheri called Nikki to see if we needed to pick up rolls for the brats and hamburgers we were having for supper. Nikki didn’t answer her phone and I said try Coz phone. He answers and he said that they were at Wal-Mart and just checking out. We had everything and were heading for the check out. So we got together afterwards and decided to go for a motorcycle ride over to Cambria to have a burger and fries at the Dump bar and grill. It was a nice day, no humidity and was cool. We got to see more windmills on the way over. When we got back home (90 mile ride) we played a game of Hand and Foot that the girls won. I said that we needed to play something different that Coz and would have a chance to win. So we played a game of SOB and Cheri won that and Nikki was second, guess you know where that left Coz and me. We had some more corn on the cob along with the brats from the grill. After supper it was time to play another game of Hand and Foot, surely it was time for Coz and me to win a game. Yep things looked good as we were ahead by 3000 points going into the last hand. Well they ended up beating us again. It was time for us to go home so I could lick my wounds.

Cheri went shopping with Nikki this morning. There was a farmers market going on downtown and Nikki wanted to go. I on the other hand stayed home and took it easy. They didn’t get back until 11:45 am. Cheri bought a big bouquet of mixed flowers. They had stopped and picked Coz and we all headed for the movie theater to see the movie Planet of the Apes. It was actually a pretty good movie. After the movie we stopped at Menard’s to do a little shopping. We bought Coz and Nikki a picnic table, an early Christmas present. Then it was back to Coz and Nikki’s for supper where Nikki had a pot roast with potatoes, carrots, and onions going in the crock pot. Sure did smell good when we went in the house. We played a game of Hand and Foot before supper and another after supper and the girls won both games. It was another perfect day in the neighborhood.

Today was a repeat of yesterday and was calling me to take a motorcycle ride. While waiting for Coz to come over this morning I did some cleaning on the motorcycle. Finally I gave him a call at 10:00 am and he said he just got done with his work out and had to stop at his Mom’s on the way home and would be here around noon. Cheri worked all day doing laundry, cleaning walls, ceilings, vacuuming, and ironing. I know the best way to help her is to keep out of her way. Ya I did help her with some spots on the ceiling. Coz came about 11:30 am and Cheri fixed us a sandwich for lunch. Then Coz and headed out and rode up to Oshkosh to Harbor freight. Coz had broken a wheel off his grill and tried to put it back on but there was no fixing it. Cheri said why don’t you build a platform with wheels on it then set the grill on it. Sounded like a good idea and they have all different kinds of castors at Harbor Freight. Well when we walked in the first thing we saw was furniture mover’s dolly on sale. It was rated for a 1000 pounds and only $18.00; it would cost more than that to build one. Last time I was at Harbor Freight I looked at a couple of things that I was interested in and decided to wait. Glad I did as they were on sale today. I bought a no contact infrared thermometer. I figured it would be helpful to be able to check the tires and bearing on the 5th wheel when we make stops while traveling. I also bought a heat gun. Coz said that he was coming back tomorrow to get the dolly and I said we could get it today and put it on the back of the motorcycle. So he bought a couple of bungee cords and loaded it up and head for home. After we got back to Coz’s place we took the other three wheels off the grill and set it on the dolly. It was a perfect fit. This evening after Nikki got home the four of us went out for a Friday night fish fry. We met Ray, Espie, and Coz’s mother at Schmitty’s Oar House bar and grill. After we got done eating, we all went back to Coz and Nikki’s to visit. Nikki made grasshoppers for all of us. Ray, Espie and Coz’s mom left at 8:00 pm as Ray had to be up by 3:30 am to go to work. We played a game of Hand and Foot and Cheri and Nikki whipped us really bad. When we got home I check the Packer game and they were in the last quarter, got see a nice come back to win the game.

Today was the perfect summer day, clear, no humidity, and low 80’s. Coz and Cece rode their bicycles over here for breakfast this morning. Cheri fixed fresh hash browns, scrambled eggs, sausage gravy, and English muffins; it doesn’t get any better than that. We make plans with Coz to grill out for supper at their place. I said I would get some fresh sweet corn from the road side stand just out of town. So I took the motorcycle to go and get it. It was just too nice of a day to ride just as couple of miles to get the sweet corn, so I just kept going. Well 75 miles later I was back a Coz and Nikki’s and had a great ride. Cheri drove the truck over and was playing a game of Sorry with Cece and Coz was running some errands. So I sat down and play a game with Cheri and Cece. When Coz got back Cheri and I watch the TV show Expedition Impossible on the internet. We missed the last one and we don’t have high speed internet at home. Cheri and Coz started on supper so it would be ready when Nikki got home from work. I made a quick trip to the grocery store to get some biscuits to bake as Cheri forgot to bring ours from home. Cheri made a peach cobbler dessert from the peaches that Bill and Barb gave us from their peach tree. So we had fresh sweet corn and pork chops on the grill. After supper we played one game of Hand and Foot which we guys won. It has been quite a while since Coz and I have won.

It was so foggy this morning that we never saw the sun until after 11:00 am. Then it got hot and muggy for the day. It was another lazy day as we didn’t have any plans on doing anything. We did make a trip to Wal-Mart for groceries and so I could order my medicine. After lunch I made a campground reservation in Indianapolis for two nights after we spend a week with Kari in McHenry IL. Cheri and I took the rest of the afternoon easy, watching some movies we had recorded. Nikki came about 5:00 pm and the three of us went up to Pipe to have pizza at Capone’s, like I have said before it is the best pizza in the country. We were back home by 7:00 pm. We were playing Hand and Foot when Coz came around 8:00 pm as he has to work until 7:00 pm. I think I am mostly over my cold, still doing some coughing and seem to get better each day now. Cheri is still struggling with her cold, but is improving a little each day.

We headed out at 10:15 am for Randolph to have lunch with the people that Cheri and I use to work with. We had planned on taking the motorcycle but it was raining this morning so we had to take the truck. We arrived at the telephone office at 11:30 am. Cheri showed the girls the quilts that she has made since the last time we were here. We had pizza brought in for lunch. I also had a surprise as my old boss was there which I haven’t seen in 6 years. It was fun catching up on what has been going on in the engineering department. And I must say I am happy that I am retired, don’t think I could handle the work or problems they deal with now. Around 1:30 pm we drove over to Friesland so Cheri could see our old house and then stopped at the lumber yard to see Bruce and Jeanne. Bruce was having a hard time getting around and is going in to have a hip replacement on Sept 2. They are in the process of adding a sunroom onto their house and it is in the final stages. Jeanne took us over to see it and it is beautiful. Then we drove over to Fox Lake to see Bill and Barb. Cheri had a couple of new projects that she wanted to show Barb. We had another nice visit with them. We walked up the hill to see their sons new house which is very nice. They are starting to move in and are adding a sun room and garage to the house. Then it was time to head back to Fond du Lac in the rain and we arrived around 6:30 pm. It was a fun day visiting all of our old friends.

Nikki picked up Cheri at 9:30 am and they headed out shopping. It is a Monday thing for them as Nikki has Mondays off. Cheri has fun shopping with her and usually is an all day thing. I checked the kitchen slide to see if it had a broken gear pack. After checking I couldn’t find any reason for it to be making a loud bang when it is going in and out. I did find one rail that was a little loose and tighten it up. Then I went inside to check the pull out pantry as Cheri said it was hard to get it open. I ended up taking it completely out and rebuilding the bottom rail on it. That project took me three hours. After I had it done and back together I went to get a pull handle for it. It was a very nice day so I hopped on the motorcycle and rode over to Fleet Farm. When I got there I realized I didn’t have my billfold with me. So back to the 5th wheel to get it and then I decided to go to Menards as that is my favorite man store. It is a little further but it was a nice day and I needed the motorcycle ride. I was surprised; Cheri was home when I got back. After I got the handle installed on the pantry I put the tools away and called it a day. I fixed myself a drink and watched a little TV before supper. Cheri fixed some Mexican chicken roll ups for supper. It has been a long time since we have had them. Nikki also came and had supper with us and we played one game of Hand and Foot. She left for home at 7:00 pm as Coz gets home from work around 7:30 pm so they could spend some time together before they go to bed.

We had a very short rain shower this morning and the weather for the day was rain off and on. Well that never happened as the clouds moved out and the sun was shining by noon, then it got hot and muggy. Cheri and I spent the morning and some of the afternoon planning what we are going to do when we leave Fond du Lac. We have changed our plans once again, that is the nice thing about being retired. As of now we will leave here on the 9th of September and spend a week at Kari’s place in McHenry IL. Then we will make a stop in Indianapolis for Steve Jeffris Caboose Festival. Now from here is where our plans have changed. We are going to head south and stop in Bowling Green KY to take a tour of the Corvette factory. It is something that I have always wanted to do. Then we will head into Nashville to visit Barbra Mandrell’s home which she has sold and is available for tours. This is something that Cheri has wanted to do. Then we will head to Pigeon Forge for a couple of weeks of motorcycle riding in the mountains and some of the Blue Ridge Park Way. Of course all this could change as we move south. Later this afternoon we went over to Coz and Nikki’s. Coz and I went out and got a bucket of chicken with the fixings for supper. After supper Cece want to play a game of Life. Cheri was the winner of that and only won by a little bit over Cece. I on the other hand was on the bottom. Then we took a ride out into the country side to have some homemade ice cream. Then it was time to head back to the 5th wheel as Cece is going to spend the night with us. I was ready for bed when we got home. Cheri and Cece stayed up and played some games.

Cheri and I aren’t very peppy today, in fact downright lazy. The colds are better but we still have the coughing that we can’t shake, and could use some pep pills. We left here at 9:00 am and went to the grocery store to get a watermelon and then over to Coz and Nikki’s to see Cece as they have her for the weekend. Cheri and Cece played some dominos and I worked with Coz to get them set up on internet banking, we didn’t get too far with that as the bank has to process their information before anything else can be done. Coz and Cece are going out to Ray and Espie’s this afternoon and are going to spend the night with them. Coz took Nikki to work this morning and will pick her up after work and head over to Ray and Espie’s. We have been invited out to their place for supper, cards and a bonfire. Coz is going to grill up some beef and chicken from his secret marinade. Nikki also made her special bean dip that she won’t tell anyone how it’s made. So we had all the home made fixings for fajitas. It was all very good. We played part of a game of Hand and Foot to show Ray and Espie how to play. With the grand children it was too hard to play so we gave it up and Ray started the bonfire. We sat around the fire for a while and the grand children all had smores and I think some of gown ups also had some. Cheri and left early to go home as we were both tired.

Cheri took another day off and I think she can finally see some light at the end of the cold tunnel. Today was a play day for me. Coz came over at 10:00 am and we went for a motorcycle ride. We rode over to and around the Friesland area where we use to live before we retired. They are building a wind farm all around Friesland and I wanted to see how much was done. There were around 30 windmills already up and several more in various stages of being built. We stopped along the road and watched them lift the generator into place on one of the towers. We talked with a guy about the windmills. He said the towers are 300 feet tall and each windmill blade is 150 feet long. Each property owner gets $7500.00 per year for each windmill on their property. The windmills came in on the rails and then were delivered by semi truck to each site. They had to widen the roads at all the corners in order for them to get the 150 foot blade puts the length of the truck around corners. It is a huge undertaking. When they get done there will be 90 windmills in the wind farm. I did take a lot of pictures that you can check out. Then we rode over by the house we use to own and live in, sure is amazing how much the trees have grown in the last 6 years and see all the flowers Cheri planted. From there we headed over to Cambria to have lunch at a bar and grill called the Dump. Coz and I each had a bacon cheese burger and fries. I must say it was the best burger I have ever had, Coz said the same thing. We said something about it to the waitress and she said that they use fresh meat and fresh buns all the time. It was all I could so to eat mine as it was sooooo big, I think there must have been a half pound of meat in it. Then it was time to head back home as Coz is going to grill chicken for us along with baked potatoes, broccoli, and fresh baked biscuits with Cheri’s help. We planned on having everything ready by the time Nikki got home, but she surprised us as she got off work early. After supper we played a couple of games of Hand and Foot, which we guys won one and the girls won the other. It was a great day in the neighborhood for me and a better day for Cheri. I have uploaded pictures of the day. There are two albums: Windmills near Friesland and Friesland house. Cheri is still fighting the cold I gave her, think she is getting better as she was able to smile at me a couple of times today. She wanted me to take her to Wal-Mart to have her hair cut, which I did. I did some shopping while she got her hair cut. Then she wanted to stop at Joanne’s Fabric and Crafts. It was a little after noon when we got home. Cheri took it easy the rest of the afternoon. I worked on the truck, fixing one of the clearance lights which was burned out and then replaced the drag link on the steering. It is one of the weak spots on the truck and has been changed once before. Coz is done working nights and next week starts working days so he stopped over for a visit this afternoon. This evening we went to see the Kids from Wisconsin. They put on a free concert in Butter Milk Park here in Fond du Lac. It has been several years since we have seen them. They are a group of 41 high school kids from all different schools in the state. They have to be in high school in order to be part of the group. After school is out they go to a camp where they learn a singing and dance routine. Then they perform concerts around the state during the summer. The concert last night was free and was outside. All you had to do was bring your chair to enjoy the concert. There must have been over 2000 people there. They didn’t disappoint us as they put on an excellent two hour show. For more information you can go to their web site http://www.kidsfromwisconsin.org/index.php

This morning Cheri is still not feeling very good. I on the other hand feel the best I have felt the last two weeks. Cheri did give me a much needed haircut, I told her we didn’t have to do it today but she wanted to get it done. She also did some laundry and then laid down part of the day and then sat in her chair and read. I took the motorcycle over to Coz and Nikki’s so I could change the oil and give it a good cleaning. I didn’t get back to the 5th wheel until after 3:00 pm, glad to have that job done. We watched some TV until Nikki came over to play a game of Hand and Foot which I was lucky to win.

I got up with cramps this morning and not feeling very good; think it was something I eat yesterday. Cheri’s cold is not any better as she is still stuffed up and doing a lot of coughing. Although she was ready early in case Nikki called and wanted to go shopping. Yep around 9:00 am Nikki called and wanted to know if Cheri felt like going shopping and of course she said yes. I on the other hand had lain around watching the NASCAR Race. At noon I still didn’t feel very good as I has a pain in my side and ended up taking one of my strong pain pills. Finally around 2:30 pm I started feeling better and went outside and emptied the holding tank and regenerated the water softener, my work was done for the day. Cheri got home around 3:30 pm with a lot of groceries and after putting them away we sat down and watch TV until around 6:30 pm when Nikki came back to play a game of Hand and Foot. So as you can see it wasn’t a very exciting day around here.

At 8:30 am we headed for church and came to a sign that said road closed local traffic only. We saw the detour sign before we got there but figured that maybe we could get through as the church was only about a mile on up the road. Well turned out the road was open as far as the church. After church we stopped over to Coz and Nikki’s so Cheri could help Nikki or I should say to keep her company attending to the yard sale. I went back to the 5th wheel to do a few things and then went to Subway to get some sandwiches for lunch. After lunch it was time for Cheri and I to head to Manchester for a 50th wedding anniversary. It was for friends from our motorcycle days which go back 30 years. It was fun seeing them along with a lot of other motorcycle friends we hadn’t seen in many years. We got there around 1:30 pm and didn’t leave until near 6:00 pm, it was so much fun visiting with all our old friends. When we got home we settled in for and evening of TV. I was going to watch the NASCAR Race that I recorded earlier only to find it was rained out and will be on tomorrow starting at 9:00 am. So I guess part of my day is already planned for tomorrow. Cold update, no change still suffering.

I was up early as I had to be over to Nikki and Coz’s at 6:00 am to help set things out for their yard sale. We had everything set out by 7:00 am, wasn’t sure how things were going to turn out because it was supposed to rain. I headed back to the 5th wheel to get Cheri, a tarp and some tools to work on the lawn mower. When we got back to Coz and Nikki’s people were starting to come. I went to work on the lawn mower. It was an old one that they don’t use anymore and had been started for over a year. It turned out to have some carbon between the contacts of the spark plug. With that remove it started and ran well, I knew that they wouldn’t get much out of it if it didn’t run. Then I went back to the 5th wheel to read and watch TV. I really wanted to go for a motorcycle ride but the weather being what it was I decided to stay inside. Well this afternoon the weather looked better and I decided to brave it and go for the ride. I stopped by Coz and Nikki’s to see how the sale was going and to let Cheri know I was going for a ride. The lawn mower was sold. When we came through Oshkosh on our way here the other day Cheri saw a sign that they now have a Harbor Freight in Oshkosh. So that is where I headed to get my shopping fix. I have wanted a soldering gun and was able to find one there. When I came out of the store the sky was really dark and so I headed straight back to Fond du Lac. I was home only a few minutes when it started to rain. I called Cheri and told her it was raining here at the fairgrounds and should start putting things away. She said it was already raining and had covered things with the tarps. Well the rain only lasted about 15 minutes and they finally got thing put away for the day. Tomorrow will be another day for the yard sale. This evening we got to watch the Packers play their first preseason game. They didn’t win and it really doesn’t make any different because preseason doesn’t count. Cold update, Cheri and I are still fighting our colds, although each day seems to be a little better.

It was a pretty quiet day as Cheri is still not in the best shape, but is improving. She said her throat wasn’t as soar today but her back is still hurting her. She read and watched TV today. I was going to inspect the kitchen slide to see if the front gear pack is broken. After looking I am not sure what to take apart to get to it. So I sent an e-mail to the factory for some instructions on what to do. I was going to go for a motorcycle ride and it started to rain so that didn’t happen. Although the rain didn’t last long, it looked like rain the rest of the day. This evening Coz and Nikki came over to get us and take us out for a Friday Night Fish Fry. I didn’t think Cheri was well enough to go but she said she want to go. We went to Schmitty’s Oar House Bar & Grill which is right on the lake. The fish was excellent and plan on going back again sometime like maybe next Friday night. After we ate we came back to our place to play a couple of games of Hand and Foot. The girls won the first game by a huge amount and we guys won the next game. It was raining when we came out from eating and was still raining when we went to bed.

It was 55 degrees when I got up this morning, think the last time it was this cold was when we were in Branson back in May. I had a 9:00 am dentist appointment in Beaver Dam to have the new crown installed. I was taking the motorcycle and had to leave at 8:00 am. I dug out the heavy coat as I knew I would need it for the ride. The new crown is in and was back home by 10:30 am. I guess with the new crown that makes me king of the house. Well that didn’t last long as Cheri straighten me out on that. Cheri is really under the weather this morning with the cold I gave her. So she is taking it easy today. I called Coz to see if he wanted to go for a motorcycle ride. He said he had a few things he needed to get done and then would come over. So around 2:00 pm Coz and I took off and headed for Ray Hall’s (Coz’s brother in law) place. He is also going to ride with us. We headed south to a friend of theirs that is building a new 40’X 50’ pole building. Coz and Ray wanted to see how it was coming along. Well when we got there they were waiting for the cement truck to come so they could pour a concrete slab in front of the pole shed. We stayed around and watched them pour the concrete. Coz helped, using the float to smooth out the fresh concrete. After that was done it was time for us to head for home. Ray went a different direction than Coz and I did. Well as we traveled north the sky was getting blacker and blacker. This is not a good thing when you are riding motorcycles. Will about 25 miles from home it started to rain and the further we went the harder it came down. Coz was leading and didn’t stop so after we rode through a 5 mile downpour and stopped at a stop sign Coz asked me if I wanted to stop and I said what for we are already wet. When we got back in Fond du Lac at the stop light where we each went a different direction to get home I said thanks for the bike wash. So when I got home I was soaking and wet but the rain coat was nice and dry in the saddle bag. Coz doesn’t have a rain coat and I think if he had to get wet I should too.

It was pack up and move day again. It’s hard to believe it has been 5 days since we moved last. How the time flies by when you are having fun. We were closed up and on the road by 9:45 am. 150 miles to Fond du Lac where we will be back at the Fair Grounds until we leave for the south. In one way we are already heading south as Door County is as far north that we will get this year. We made a stop at the GMC truck dealer to get a new drag link for the truck. They told me that they had just sold the one they had in stock and would have another one tomorrow. That was when the services manage came in and said that the one that was just sold was for a truck that they were working on and would have the truck for a couple of days and could use the one that would come in tomorrow. Sure was nice of him to do that, now I won’t have to make that trip back to Appleton. It was around 12:30 pm when we arrived in Fond du Lac. As soon as I got the slides out on the 5th wheel Cheri fixed us a salad for lunch. I went to hook up to the power and all the power boxes were locked, first time we have had this. So I went up to the office to see if they would unlock a box and turn the power on for us. They said that they have been having people come in late and hook up to power and then leave early in the morning without paying, guess that won’t happen anymore. Cher has caught my cold just as I am getting over it and feels pretty miserable this evening. Coz and Nikki stopped over and wanted us to go out for pizza, but said we would pass as Cheri wasn’t feeling very good.

It was suppose to rain today which met no motorcycle riding. Well the weather report said no rain which is good but they said it would be very windy, not a good thing when riding motorcycle. But we braved the wind and headed out on a motorcycle ride to Sturgeon Bay so Cheri could get her quilt fix. On the way to the quilt store we stopped in a little village that had a farmers market going. One spot was selling cherry brats. We couldn’t past that up and we each had a cherry brat and they were very tasty. Then it was back on the road heading to the quilt store. It was a nice little quilt store and Cheri did buy some material just to have on hand for some future project. Then we rode up along the Green Bay coast all the way to Egg Harbor. We stopped along the way to take some pictures of the water. Then just north of Egg Harbor we stopped at Wood’s Orchard Market. We were there a few days ago and brought some cherry donuts, they were so good that we needed a dozen of them this time. Cheri also got some cherry butter, cherry jam, cherry pie filling and some cherry cheese. I guess you know by now Door County is known for its cherries and we have done our part to support the cherry growers. We were going to go to Peninsula State Park. It is a large park with a light house that you can view and climb to the top of. It was 1:30 pm and it was just too windy and decided to go back to the 5th wheel and relax. I am still fighting the summer head cold.

Kathryn and Bro picked us up at 9am and we headed into town for breakfast. This was the last time to visit with them, as they headed for home after they dropped us back off at the 5th wheel.
We changed our clothes and headed out on the motorcycle. We began by exploring the Cana Island Lighthouse. We ran into a little rain on our way there but it did not last long. We had a short hike to the lighthouse. We toured the grounds and paid the additional price to climb the 97 steps to the top of the lighthouse. What a view from up there.
Door County is surrounded by Lake Michigan to the North and East and the bay of Green Bay to the west, this long and slender peninsula has 300 miles of shoreline.
We headed for Bluff Headlands county Park, just west of Gills Rock. We took Q over to Hwy 57 to Sister Bay, on up to Ellison Bay and into Gills Rock. We were hoping to find an overlook of the Bay, but what we found was a challenging climb to the water’s edge. We walked over tree roots and rocks on a steep incline to the shoreline. It really gave my knee a work out. The water’s edge was pretty, but all I kept thinking about was if my knee would hold out for the climb up out of there.
One gal said it was easier going up then coming down. She was right. Thank goodness!
We headed on out to the northern most point of the peninsula where the ferry leaves for Washington Island. We found a cold cherry drink at a small shop there. We also stopped at Bea’s Bakery for a cherry pastry. Door County is famous for their cherries. You can even find cherry cheese!
We arrived home about 3pm. We only put on 60 miles today and hopefully if it doesn’t rain tomorrow, we’ll get the chance to explore again tomorrow.

Kathryn and Bro picked us up at 9:30 am to take us to church with them at the Hope United Church of Christ in Surgeon Bay. After church we headed up to Egg Harbor to drop off Kathryn and Cheri so they could do some shopping. Bro got a call this morning that he won the bid on the table and chairs, so we went to pick them up. After we got the table and chairs back to Kathryn and Bro’s it was time to go back to Egg Harbor to meet the girls for lunch. It was one of those days when it would rain a little every now and then, so we decided to go back to Kathryn and Bro’s to play cards. We play two games of Hand and Foot which the girls won one and we guys won one. Then it was time for supper. Bro got the grill going and we had New York strip steaks on the grill. After supper we taught Bro and Kathryn how to play SOB. We played one game that Bro won and decided to call it a night as I have a summer head cold and not feeling the greatest. It was around 8:30 pm when Kathryn and Bro dropped us off at the 5th wheel.

Kathryn and Bro picked us up at 10:30 am and took us for a ride around the country side and through the small towns (tourist traps). Our first stop was an estate sale. Kathryn and Bro put in a private bid on a dining room table and chairs for their daughter. If the table and chairs didn’t sell for the price they had on it then after 5:00 pm the bids would be opened and who ever had the high bid would get the table and chairs. Then as we were riding through the country side we came across a moving sale. Cheri bought a couple of dishes and kitchen utensils. Kathryn and Bro also bought a few things. Then I was telling Kathryn and Bro about a park that we had been to a couple of time about 20 years ago and didn’t know the name of it. So I described it to them and they weren’t able to come up with anything and we only had gone a little ways and found it. It is a neat little park because it has a beautiful view of the bay. Then it was time to look for a place to have lunch back in Sister Bay at the Sister Bay CafĂ©. Cheri and I split a pork sandwich and I also had a cup of broccoli-mushroom soup which was excellent. Then we stopped at an arts and craft fair and look around, there were a lot of neat things, but nothing we needed. Then it was on to a second hand store to look around. Cheri bought some used jeans that she is going to make into a purse (another project). We made a stop at the farm market and they had all kinds of samples to try so that was our dessert. Door County is famous for their cherries so Cheri bought half dozen cherry donuts. We had a sample of them and they were great. Then we went back to Kathryn and Bro’s to play some cards and Kathryn fixed us a wonderful supper. Then it was time to head for the Peninsula Players Theatre where they have put on plays for 76 years. We got to see the play A Few Good Men. It was very good but I had a hard time staying awake for the first half. It is a problem that I have after I eat and try to watch something I always have trouble staying awake and tonight was no different. At intermission time I got myself woke up had no problem with the rest of the play. It was three hours long and was excellent. It was 11:30 pm by the time Kathryn and Bro dropped us off at home.

It was a move day again. We got the 5th wheel all closed up, the motorcycle load and was ready to leave. Jeanene had breakfast waiting for us. Greg was in bed sick this morning; he thinks it was something he eat yesterday. After a delicious breakfast it was time to head out. We made a stop at Fleet-Farm to fill up with fuel as I had a four cent per gallon discount. After we got on the road I see the fuel prices were the same as what I paid with the discount. Well it was an easy in and out with the 5th wheel attached. We were going to stop in Green Bay at Wal-Mart but the parking lot was so full that there wasn’t room for us to get in and out without great difficulty, so we by pass it and figured to stop at the Wal-Mart in Sturgeon Bay. We were about 10 miles from there when we got a call from Kathryn and Bro. Kathryn said that the Target was much better than Wal-Mart and easy to get into and back out. It wasn’t a Super Target but did find the groceries we needed. We arrived at the Beantown Campground around 1:30 pm as we only had 147 miles to drive today. Around 3:30 pm Kathryn and Bro came and got us and took us back to their place that is about 8 miles from the campground. After visiting for a while it was time to go out for a Friday night fish fry at Mr. G’s Supper Club. It was an excellent meal. After we eat we drove up to Bailey’s Harbor and stopped and walked out on the pier of the harbor of Lake Michigan. Then we went back to Kathryn and Bro’s to play cards and visit. We taught Kathryn and Bro how to play Hand and Foot and just so you know we guys won. After the card game it was time for Kathryn and Bro to take us back to our campground. It was another great day to spend with friends.

We left for breakfast at 8:30am. We headed into Waupaca to the Woods Restaurant. They have such good meals there. I ordered a sweet roll to go with my coffee before my meal came and it all came at once. The sweet roll covered the whole plate. It was enough for all of us to have a piece with our breakfast. When we finished we headed back home to load up the bikes and head out for the day.
We put on 117 miles with stops at Spring Water Volunteer Covered Bridge, built in 1997 in Saxeville. We wandered back and forth across the bridge and checked out views from every angle. It was a beautiful spot.
We traveled through the back roads to Pine River and then into Wild Rose to look up some old biking friends. They were not home so we continued on up to Mt. Morris Park. The overlook of the surrounding area is very nice. We took time to relax a bit and have some water before moving on.
We went through Ogdensburg and on into Little Falls. We parked under an overhang of grapevines and started to check the area out. They had a swinging bridge to cross the river. There were deer fenced in on the other side, along with a couple of old cabins. We walked the river bank and cross another bridge back to the other side again. There was a little lighthouse by the bridge. It made a neat picture.
We were back on the bikes and went into Big Falls, through Iola, Scandinavia and back through Waupaca and made a stop at the Red Mill. They have a gift shop there that Jeanene and I checked out. Pretty glassware but we made no purchases.
They have a little covered church there also and a little church they call The Church in the Woods. They hold lots of weddings there and all the people have to sit outside. There is hardly room for the wedding party inside. We had been there years ago, and it was nice to revisit.
We arrived home around 4pm. We got cleaned up and headed into Waupaca for Chinese for supper.
It was a beautiful day and we were blessed to be able to spend it with some wonderful friends.

Today is pack up and move day. So we were both up early, not sure why because we only have 85 miles to go and we don’t have to be out of the campground until 11:00 am. I was outside closing things up when I turned around and there stood Virgil and Sandy Kindschi. What a surprise, they are old friends that we use to ride motorcycle with. They happened to be at Christmas Mountain last year while we were here. They just came in last night, we sat down and visited for over an hour and finally said we had to get busy and pack up to move out, sure was nice to see them. We are moving to Greg and Jeanene Peterson’s place and will camp in their drive way for the next two nights. We arrived at their place around 12:30 pm. Good to see and spend some time with them. Jeanene fixed us a nice lunch and we sat and visited for a while and then they took us for a ride around the Chain of Lakes near Waupaca. We decided to stop at Scoopers Ice Cream. We figured we would have our dessert early. Then we rode over to Hartman State Park. We rode through the campground to see how many was camping and most all the camp sites were full of campers. Then we walked down by the lake beach. Then it was time to head back to Greg and Jeanene’s. Greg got the grill going and grilled up some hotdogs and brats for supper. We did more visiting and watched a DVD that we had on Jerusalem, we had picked it up at the Holy Land Experience in Orlando and was very educational. We finally call it a night at 10:00 pm. I have upload pictures of the day. Click here https://picasaweb.google.com/sharpstravels and then click on the Album: Time with Greg and Jeanene.

It was another very humid and hot day. The index temp was to be 105 degrees. It was also suppose to rain, but that never amounted to much. Cousin Rick and Janis arrived about 11:30 am and wanted us to teach them how to play Hand and Foot. We visited for a bit and then headed into the Dells for lunch at Denny’s. It was very good but did have to wait a while for the lunch to be served as they were pretty busy. It was back home to settled down and get serious about playing Hand and Foot. All we heard from Cheri and Janis was that they were going to rule. Well that came back to bite them as Rick and I won the first game by over 6000 points. Then Janis thought that she and Cheri should have different rules then Rick and me. Well Janis and Cheri did win the second game by less than 50 points; I guess a win is a win. It sure did feel good to rule the first game. Janis loves to read and they are going on a trip to Alaska in a few weeks so Cheri gave her all her Sue Henry books to read. They are mystery books that are about actual places in Alaska. Cheri had fun reading them and was able to say we were there where the events happened in the books. Thanks Rick and Janis for making it another fun day.

A very happy birthday to Cheri my wife and best friend. Today it is suppose to get up to 86 degrees and feel like 100 degrees, sounds like a sweaty wet day to be out and about. Well being it was Cheri’s birthday I found a quilt store near Endeavor on the internet and asked her if she wanted to go. Of course she said yes. It was cloudy and overcast so we decided to take the motorcycle. It turned out to be a very nice ride without the hot sun on us. It was 30 miles over to the quilt store. It was very nice and had a lot of different materials we haven’t seen in other quilt stores. So with that Cheri found several things she needed to buy. I asked the owner if Cheri got a special discount because it was her birthday and she said I think I can do something, so when we checked out she gave Cheri a free pattern. Cheri had the camera out and taking pictures on our ride. Then we headed to Reedsburg to have the lunch buffet at Pizza hut. Monday is senior day, lunch is only $5.00. When we ordered Cheri asked the waiter if she could have a free drink for her birthday and he said sure. Just as we finished eating the waiter brought out a birthday cake for Cheri. It was nice little cake about 6 inches a crossed and 4 inches high, all decorated with flowers. He even brought the box so we could take it home with us. Then on the way back home we had to stop along the road so Cheri could pick a bouquet of Prairie Black eyed Susan’s, they are her favorite wild flower. It was after 2:00 pm when we got home and 85 miles later. Being it was cloudy it turned out to be a very nice motorcycle ride. After we got home I did a couple of things outside and found out just how humid it was.
I have uploaded pictures of the day click here https://picasaweb.google.com/sharpstravels and then click on album: Cheri’s birthday ride.

Our campsite here at Christmas Mountain |
It was a very hot and humid day with a high of 88 degrees. We couldn’t find a church we wanted to attend today. So we decided to watch Larry Ollison’s church service on the internet. The problem we have is that our campground is in an area where internet signal is very weak. So we packed up the computer and headed into Wisconsin Dells for breakfast at Denny’s, it was excellent. Then we drove over to Wal-Mart as we had a few things to pickup and it is within site of a cell tower. It was 9:30 am and the service didn’t start until 11:30 am. So I dropped Cheri off at Kohl’s and I went over to Home Depot. So we each had two hours to look around, I was surprised how fast the time went. I did purchase a temperature probe to install in our gas grill. I got out to the truck around 11:15 am to go and pick up Cheri and she was already at the truck and had bought a picture frame and a couple of tops. After sitting in the truck and watching Larry Ollison’s service (very good) it was time to go to Wal-Mart to pick up some groceries. Tomorrow is Cheri’s birthday so I took her over to the card department and picked out a very nice birthday card for her to look at. After she got done looking at it we put it back. This is something we have done for many years and saves the price of the card. It was after 2:00 pm when we got home and I watched the rest of the NASCAR Race and Cheri read. After the race I did some did some computer work and also watched the X-Games rally racing.
