It
was cold, rainy, and windy all day with a high of near 50, not my kind of day.
Cheri was in high gear this morning cleaning and doing laundry, my job was to
stay out of her way. I did do the barn quilt lay out so now it is ready for
Cheri to paint again. Larry and Denise along with her son Rob and his wife Melissa
came to visit and pick up the keys for the motorcycle. They are going to use
our bike as we will be gone to our Alaskan Rally Friday and Saturday. Before
they left I had Larry and Rob help me load the old washing machine into the van
so I could take it to the salvage yard along with a couple other pieces of
scrap I had. I thought I might get a couple of dollars for it and was
pleasantly surprised when I picked up my money and got $18.45 for it. After
lunch Cheri and I headed to Lakeland, I dropped Cheri off at Joann’s Fabrics
and I went to Harbor freight. I am plan on building a large work bench to have
outside under the car port and want to have it on wheels so it can be moved
around. They have the best price for the caster wheels. I also bought dolly to
move the heavy stuff. I will need it when we get the new washer and dryer. I
picked up Cheri and we stopped at Sam’s. Cheri wanted to get some more of Olive
Garden’s salad dressing. Will it look like they don’t carry it any longer as
there weren’t any by the other salad dressings. We still managed to buy thing
that we didn’t know we needed (junk food). Then we stopped over at Walgreens to
buy some Blue Bell ice cream because they had it on sale. We think it is the
best ice cream and haven’t had any for almost a year. So it is going to be a
real treat to have some.

When
I get up in the morning the first thing I do is make coffee. We have special
coffee cups that we use for coffee each morning. Well this morning I looked at
the cups and see one that has the inscription THE BOSS on it. So I took it out
used it this morning for my coffee. When Cheri came out I held it up so she
could see that I had it and she looked at me and laughed, I wonder if that
means in your dreams. Cheri worked on the painting the barn quilt this morning
and I took Grandma for her 10:15 doctor’s appointment and didn’t get to see the
doctor until 11:40 am. She said that another doctor didn’t come in today and she
had double duty. On the way home Grandma needed to stop at the bank. When I got
home Cheri was still painting on the barn quilt. After lunch she was taking off
the masking tape and called me to come and see what happened. Well when she
removed the masking tape the paint came off too. Cheri used a different primer
on the board and found that latex paint and acrylic paint don’t mix. So now she
has to re prim the board and then I will have to do the lay out again. Cheri
needed some more paint for the project so we headed out to Hobby Lobby for the
paint and then to Wal-Mart to get the groceries that Grandma needed. On the way
home we stopped at the office and paid for our lawn care, 120 dollars for six
months, nice that I don’t have to do any lawn work. When we got home I did a
little internet searching, looking to buy a table saw and don’t want to break
the bank. After supper it was time to get ready for our Life Group Gathering.
We met Mike and Pam at Walgreens where we left out car and rode with them. Ron
and Sandy are away on a cruise so Pam volunteered to be our group leader this
evening. It was an excellent lesson and was over before I knew it; I came away
with a new understanding about bother working with brother, never too old to
learn.

Today
was perfect winter day with sunshine and a temp in the mid 70’s. Mike and Pam
came over at 9:00 am. Pam and Cheri headed for the flea market. Mike and I
headed out to Rick’s restaurant for a late breakfast. We had planned this for
late because we were going over to Ron and Sandy’s as they are gone on a cruise
and Ron is having his old garage torn down today. He had asked me to keep an
eye on the house and thought it would be a good time to go over so we could see
how they were doing on the old garage. They had a good start on it with all the
windows out and the door off and working on removing the siding. After we left
there Mike and I rode around the neighborhood looking at houses. We got a call
from Pam and they were done with the flea market and wanted to meet us for
lunch at Panera Bread. We had a good lunch and made plans to play cards this
evening at their place. From there Cheri and I went to Wal-Mart to get some
groceries plus Cheri had lamp shade to return. When we got home I went work on
my paver project. I got all the pavers in and put sand down over the pavers to
fill the cracks between the pavers. Cheri continued working in the house and took
a late afternoon power nap. After I was done with the pavers I took a
motorcycle ride back out to Ron and Sandy’s to check on the garage removal. It was
down and the roof was cut up into pieces and ready to be hauled away. A little after 6:00 pm we arrived at Mike and
Pam’s for an evening of cards. We played two games of Pinochle. Mike and Pam
play the game a little different then Denise and Larry do, so it took Cheri and
me a few hands to catch on how they play the game. Mike and I won the two games
of Pinochle and then Cheri and Pam won the game of Hand, Knee, and Foot. It was
a wonderful day in the neighborhood that God made for us and to spend time with
close friends.

It
started raining early last night and rained most of the night. Mike and I
canceled our security for the night. When I checked the rain gage this morning
it showed an inch of rain. It was pretty dry and was nice to get the rain. I
worked on my paver project and got 40 pavers installed before lunch. Cheri
worked on doing some deep cleaning, not sure if you would call it late winter
or early spring cleaning. After lunch I made a trip to Lowes as I needed 64
more pavers. It also gave me a little break because my back was hurting from
all the bending. But when I got home I went back to work and each row I installed
I would say this is the last one for the day and then I would push myself to
install another row and kept it up until I ran out of dirt. I did go and get
more dirt and decided I had enough for the day. It was 4:00 pm and got a lot
done today. With a little luck tomorrow I should be able to finish the paver
project. Cheri worked this afternoon on her quilt hanging came out to show me
that she has it all sewed together and now has to do the quilting on it, looks
really nice.

Mike
and Pam picked us up at 9:15 am and we headed to Lakeland for church at the
Family Worship Center. Rev. Ted Shuttlesworth was a guest speaker. It was a two
hour service, very one that it was a really good service. I on the other hand
wasn’t ready for an evangelist type service, being a new believer I was looking
for more of a teaching message. Pam was nice enough to explain the different between
an evangelist and a local pastor, I am sure in time I will be better prepared.
After church Al and Peggy (friends of Pam and Mike) along with us four went out
to eat at the airport restaurant. We had the prime rib buffet, it was pretty
good and had a nice visit while having diner. It was near 3:00 pm when we got
home. Cheri went to the sewing room and worked on her wall hanging. I did the
lay out for a new barn quilt Cheri is going to paint. After I got the layout
done we both relaxed the rest of the day watching TV.

It
was a little warmer this morning and warm up to be a very nice day although you
did need a light jacket. We picked up Mike and Pam and headed to Dade City for
the Kumquat Festival. Arts, crafts, music, and car show. It seems to me that it
was much bigger than last year. I see that more streets had been blocked off so
they could set up booths to sell their wares. Shortly after we arrived, Cheri
and Pam went to check out all the booths, Mike and I went to check out the car
show. About two and half hours later we got a call from the Pam and Cheri
wanting us to meet them at the Tea Room for lunch. Well there were just too
many people waiting so we decided to leave and go back to Zephyrhills for
lunch. We stopped at Capri Pizza and More, a very good place to eat. After
lunch we checked out a new furniture store that was next door. From there we
headed back to Mike and Pam’s to drop them off and then home. Cheri went to
work on a quilt hanging and I worked outside on my paver project. At 5:30 pm I
decided I had enough for the day and Cheri felt the same. So we had left over
pizza from lunch for supper. It was a wonderful day to spend with close friends
that God made for us.

I
want to wish our son Darren a happy birthday. The night I took Cheri to the hospital
it was snowing so hard and the wind was blowing. It was 23 miles to the
hospital and I drove through snow drifts three to four feet high. The car got
full of snow and the motor was missing and had a hard time keeping it running.
Well the next day nothing was moving and many roads were closed. This morning
Cheri wanted to go to a furniture store over in Tarpon Springs which is about
50 miles. She had an advertisement on some dining room chairs and wanted to see
them. So she made a call to the massage place in New Port Richie where we had a
groupon to have a massage and got an appointment for 1:15 pm. So we headed to
the furniture store and Cheri got to look at the chairs and decided they were
the ones she wanted. From there we stopped for lunch at Wendy’s and we both had
a chicken sandwich and a senior drink for a total of $2.12, can’t bet the price
for a lunch. After lunch it was time for our message with was just down the
road. We both had a wonderful massage and didn’t want to get up off the table.
From there we headed to Direct Buy in Tampa to order the chairs Cheri wanted
and saved over 450 dollars on them. It was around 4:30 pm when we arrived home.
I did some computer work and Cheri fixed a wonderful supper of Red Lobster’s fresh
baked Cheddar Bay biscuits and a Creamy Beef Stroganoff. What a woman, she
treats me like a king.

Once
again I slept in because of the cold weather, although it did warm up to light
jacket weather with sunshine. Cheri continued to work on her sewing room cabinet;
she is now painting flowers on it. I should be able to post pictures tomorrow.
She also was doing laundry, she never stops working. I did more work on the
computer this morning searching out things about the laundry project I have
started to work on. This afternoon I dropped Cheri off at Hobby Lobby and I went
to Lowe’s to pick up a few things for the laundry room and gathering
information on the best way to do the plumbing for the water. When I got done I
called Cheri to see if she was done and she said that she was waiting for me.
After I picked her up we went to Wal-Mart to get my breakfast sausage, the only
place that I can get the sausage I like. So while we were there we picked up a
few other things we needed. I need to back up, while I was in Lowe’s I got a
voice mail that Larry and Denise were leaving for Canada to see Larry’s brother
in law, he has cancer and not expected to last long. After I picked up Cheri
and got parked at Wal-Mart I let Cheri listen to the voice mail, then Cheri
called them and was talking to Denise and she said they were on their way and
was just pulling into Wal-Mart to fuel up the truck. So we drove over by them
so we could talk and find out what their schedule was. They plan on making a
quick trip only staying a couple of days. When we got back home Cheri finished
her laundry and work on dressing up a couple of lamp shades with stuff she got
at Hobby Lobby. I went back to work in the bedroom removing some more of the
wall board for the laundry room. It was 5:00 pm before we sat down to rest
before having supper.

Normally
this would have been a motorcycle ride day but when we had looked at the long
range forecast we knew it was going to be a cold day, which is why we had the
ride on Monday. So it being cold and had no place we had to be I slept in until
7:00 am, which made for a late start for the day and I really didn’t care.
Cheri worked on painting another cabinet that she has in her sewing room. I remove
a section of the drywall in the bedroom to see if there was any plumbing there
for a washer and dryer. Well no luck on finding the plumbing which is going to
make the project of moving the washer and dryer into the house a little more
work and expense. We went down to the Rec Hall for lunch; they were having a lunch
fund raiser for the security team. This afternoon we went to see the movie Jack
Ryan: Shadow Recruit. It was a very good movie with a lot of action. After the
movie we went over to Norm and Marlene’s to drop off pictures that I had taken
of their new house, we visited for a while and then it was time to head home
for supper and get ready for our Life Group Gathering. It was another good Life
Group Gathering, Ron does such a good job leading the group and we all have
great input which really helps to understand Gods word.

I
was reminded today (by my coconspirators) about me and the dumpster diving
yesterday. I had trouble getting out of the dumpster; I had pulled the cover
back up over the dumpster while I was in it because you couldn’t reach the
cover from the ground. Well I got my foot caught between the cover and side of
the dumpster, Denise was trying to get my foot out and Larry was trying to get
my other leg on the outside ledge. You can picture the predicament I was in (or
not) and remember it was dark out. So this ends my dumpster diving experience. This
morning we picked up Larry and Denise at 10:00 am and headed to the flea market
here in Zephyrhills. It is the first day in months that they didn’t have rain
or cold weather and it show as I think most of the people in Zephyrhills were
there. After we were done there we dropped Larry and Denise off at their place
and Cheri and I made a stop at the post office to mail a certified letter to
Ridgid so I could get my life time warranty on the drill, impact driver, and
batteries. Then we headed to Beall’s as Cheri bought some place mats at Beall’s
in Wesley Chapel and was only able to get seven of them and she wanted to see
if she could get another one at this Beall’s, she is so lucky because she was
able to get one. Then we headed home for a quick lunch as I had a security
meeting at 1:00 pm. After the meeting Cheri and I headed to Lowe’s to take back
some paint that Cheri was going to use to paint the cabinets in the master
bathroom. The lady at Lowe’s said the paint was what we needed, after getting
it home and reading all the directions it wouldn’t work for our project. So we
got the right paint, and checked on washing machines. I plan on starting the
project of putting the washing machine and dryer in the house, I am not sure
why anyone would want to put them in a shed outside, but it is something that
you see in a lot of the places here in Florida. We were invited over to Larry
and Denise’s for supper and cards. Denise made Lasagna with a salad and fresh
French bread, an excellent meal, Thanks Denise. We played two games of cards
and the girls wining one and we guys the other one.

It
was a little warmer this morning, 42 degrees and very foggy. The fog was gone
by 10:00 am and the temp was heading to the mid 70’s which was good as Bud had
a motorcycle ride leaving at 10:00 am from Baker Acers. When I got there for
the ride Bud asked me to lead the ride. There were only four of us on the ride
and I like that as four bikes is just right for a ride, don’t have to worry so
much when riding where there are stop and go lights. With fewer bikes we can
usually can get there all of the stop and go lights. Our destination for the
ride was the Harley dealer in New Port Richie and a stop for lunch at Wendy’s;
I can still get my lunch there for $1.06, great deal for a chicken sandwich and
a senior drink. Our ride was 130 miles and Larry and I got back to our place at
the same time as Cheri and Denise. They also had left this morning at 10:00 am
to go shopping plus Cheri had a massage appointment in Wesley Chapel so that is
where they did their shopping. We played a game of Hand, Knee, and Foot with
Larry and Denise that Cheri and Denise won, at least it was a close game this
time. This morning Cheri had started a roast with carrots and potatoes in the
crock pot to have for supper. So after the card game we took a break to have supper
sure was good. After we eat and the girls were cleaning up the dishes so I check
my e-mail and I had an e-mail from Ridgid, I had registered my new drill and
impact driver last week on line and now they said I needed to send in the upc
code from the box. Well Cheri had taken it along with other boxes and news
papers to the dumpster this morning. So at 7:00 pm the four of us took the flashlight
and went dumpster diving looking for the box that the drill and impact driver
came in. After a lot of digging there all the boxes and news papers we finally found
the box. Dumpster diving was never on my bucket list as something I needed to
do. We all had a good laugh about the experience. Then it was back home to play
a couple of games of Pinochle, Larry and I managed to win one game. It was a
great day in the neighborhood that God made for us.

Grandma
went to church with us and after church there were seven of us that went out
for lunch. It was around 1:00 pm when we got home. I checked our e-mail and we
had an e-mail from Larry and Denise, been looking for a place to get some dirt
for my patio block project out by the back shed and Larry said that there was a
place over by them where I could get some. So I loaded my buckets in the van
and we headed over to Larry and Denise’s. Well they weren’t home so we decided
to go see the movie Lone Survivor. It may have been a good movie for some
people but Cheri and I didn’t care for it as most of the movie was fighting,
just too much blood and guts. After the movie was over we headed back to Larry
and Denise’s. Larry helped me get the dirt I needed and then we played a game
of Hand, Knee, and Foot. Cheri and Denise won big time. It was around 7:30 pm when
we got home. I watched the football game that I had recorded and Cheri played
solitaire on her I-pad. After the game we watched a couple more shows and
called it a night. It was another cold morning with a temp of 33 degrees, it
did warm up some and we got rain this afternoon. I am so ready for some nice
weather.

It
was cold again this morning, 33 degrees and had a high of 52 degrees. We needed
to make a trip to Wal-Mart and there isn’t any good day to go there and Sat is
the worst. So I said to Cheri that we should go first thing this morning and
have breakfast after we get back. Now this is how a good plan goes bad. On the
way to Wal-Mart we have to pass Golden Corral and they serve breakfast on Sat.
Yep we didn’t get passed without stopping to eat. It didn’t turn out too bad as
we were in Wal-Mart by 8:30 am. It was getting pretty busy by the time we got
done with our shopping. Cheri has been working on putting her touches on
different things and moving things to different places. I think she does it so
she can watch me look for things. For the last week she has been working on a
picture album of old pictures of us as kids along with pictures of our kids as
they grew up. This afternoon I went over to Grandma’s to pick up another bill
from the lawn spraying people. They sprayed the lawn on Jan 6th and
now again on the 14th. It is supposed to be done once every three
months. I called the company and got the answering machine, now we will see if
they call me back. A check was sent to them back in Oct that still hasn’t been
cashed. I think it is time to look for a new lawn spraying service. Late this
afternoon we sat down and watch movies and other shows until it was time to go
to bed.

I
was up a little before 5:00 am; we needed to be ready to leave at 8:00 am for a
road trip with Norm, Marlene, Mike, and Mary. Norm and Marlene wanted to show
us their new house they have purchased in Lake Placid which is over a two hour
drive from here. When Norm and Marlene got here they didn’t have Mike and Mary
with them. Mike got a call around 4:00 am from his mother that his dad had
passed out and fell. So they had to go to the emergency room. It turned out
that his blood pressure was very low and that he was bleeding internally. When
we called Mike and Mary to see how he was, Mary said that they had done test
and were waiting for the results. On the way done to Lake Placid we made a stop
at McDonalds for a break and coffee. It was near 11:00 am when we arrived and
the realtor arrived at 11:00 am to let us in so we could see the inside of the
house. They will be closing on the house on Feb 3rd. I can see that
there is a lot of work to do to the grounds as no one has lived in the house
for over three years. The house had been in foreclosure and had to have work
done to it before it could be sold, new roof, new paint inside and out, and new
carpeting throughout. It will be a nice home with a little tender loving care.
After checking out the house we drove over to see Marlene’s brother and his
wife. They only live about a mile away. After visiting with them it was time to
head for home. We made a stop half way home to eat a late lunch or early dinner
at Fred’s in Bartow. Norm and Marlene dropped us off at the repair shop so we
could pick up our van. We stopped by Mike and Mary’s to see how Ed was doing
and they said that he was sleeping and hadn’t hear any results on the test that
they had done. It was around 5:00 pm when we walked in the door, we had a
wonderful day with Norm and Marlene.

It
was in the low 40’s this morning and them climbed to a high of 54 degrees, windy
and not much sunshine. I told Cheri that there was anything I need to do
outside this morning. Cheri did a load of laundry. Yesterday Cheri bought me a
three drawer container for my pile of papers that I have next to my computer. So
I worked on sorting through all the papers and putting them in the drawers, so
I guess you could say I am now organized. She doesn’t know it but I will
probably stack papers on top of the unit, a guy thing. Around 11:00 am Larry
and Denise showed up and wanted to know if we wanted to go and look at some
houses with them, so off we went. We went to three different parks and there
wasn’t anyone in the sales offices in fact they were all locked, but the hours
posted on the doors said they were supposed to be open. We were just leaving
the last park when Larry got a call telling them that the guy that was coming
to look at their motor home wasn’t interested in it because he thought it had
too many miles on it. We felt bad for them as they were hopeful that this was
the person that was going to buy it. We headed over to Pizza hut to have their
lunch buffet. When we got home we dropped off the girls, Larry and I took the
van over to the repair shop so he could check out the transmission mounts, and
I can pick it up tomorrow afternoon. When we got home we play four games of
cards, Cheri and Denise won three of the four games. The temp is heading down
and we are in for another cold night.

A
couple of days ago we had a wonderful show outside our window while we were
having lunch. First Cheri spotted a woodpecker, next we saw five cardinals, two
females and three males that seem to be fighting over the females. Then there
were two blue jays that came. We have never seen so many different birds in
such a short time here. It was 45 degrees this morning and Cheri said the pool
water wasn’t as bad as she thought it would be. I had a motorcycle ride planned
for today leaving at 10:00 am. As it turned out there were only two of us for
the ride. We still had a good ride. Norm had only rode with us once before as
he is here only a couple of weeks every two or three month as he is still
working in the oil fields in BC. So I took him on all of my favorite back
roads. It was a little cool riding but we were dressed for it and had a great
139 mile ride. Cheri and Denise went shopping today; she left the park before
me and got home after I did. She had a good time and did buy a few things like
new towel sets for the guest bathroom. We had supper and then it was time to
get ready to leave for our Life Group gathering. We rode with Mike and Pam. It
was so good getting together learning Gods word. It was also good to have Ron
back as our group leader. He has a way to get everyone to respond and have some
great discussions, something that was lacking in our last Life Group. Thanks
Ron for being there for us.

Shortly
after I got up this morning we had a good rain come through and then a drizzle
the rest of the forenoon. I had an appointment for the van at 10:00 am to
finish the work from the oil leak. While I was there I was telling him about
the jerking in the transmission, so he used his code scanner to check for any
problems but there weren’t any. So we took it for a ride and he thinks it might
be a loose transmission mount. I have to drop the van off on Friday so it can
be checked. We probably should have traded the van off as it has so many problems
showing up, but fixing is what you have to do when there is no money to trade.
Cheri was busy cleaning and getting ready for her quilt gathering here at 1:00
pm. For some reason Cheri and I were both hungry so we had an early lunch. I
had some computer work that needed to get done today so I worked on that until
1:00 pm. Norm brought Marlene over for the quilt gathering, so Norm and I sat
and had a good visit while the ladies did their thing which I think was more
visiting then quilting, whatever makes them happy. Later this afternoon Cheri
and I did some more dreaming about what we want to do in the master bathroom,
each time we discuss what we want it get more costly, guess we need to quit
discussing it. The new laundry area in the house is the first thing that has to
be done. I have been searching the internet for ideas on what we might want. I
did find a couple of ideas that I think would work really well. Before we knew
it the day was gone and nothing to really show for it (what retired people do).

It
was a wonderful day in the neighborhood, warm with sunshine. I did several honey
dew jobs in the house like putting up towel bars and new shower head for the
guest bathroom. I set things up so
Cheri could paint the plywood from the sewing room. Then I did some honey dew
things outside. Later we went and got haircuts, the guy that always cuts my
hair told me this was his last day. He told me he was going into the ministry work
with retirement homes, how about a prayer to help him on his way. After our
haircuts we went over to Lowe’s to see about the materials I need to fix a
section of our kitchen cabinets. It is a section that is fastened to the
ceiling and has sagged. I needed a couple pieces of angle iron to put across
the top. Well they didn’t have what I need there, which was ok because I didn’t
plan on doing that project for a few weeks. After we got home I was doing some
work on the headliner in the van as it was coming loose so while we were at
Lowe’s I picked up a can of spray adhesive. I was just finishing the project
when Larry and Denise came. They have been out looking at houses and are ready
to put in an offer on one if their motor home sells Sat. I was telling Larry
about what I wanted to do with the kitchen cabinets, before I knew it we were
looking for things to build a bridging so we could jack up the cabinets. We
made a trip to Home Depot to get the angle iron. When we got back home it was
6:00 pm and I told Larry I would work on it tomorrow as we still hadn’t had
supper. Long story short after we eat Larry and I went back to work on the
cabinet and everything was done by 9:00 pm. A big thank you to Larry for all of
his help with that project, it was something I have wanted to do ever since we
bought the house as it was very noticeable.

It
was on the cool side this morning and most of the day. The breeze was enough
that you weren’t sure if you needed a jacket or not. Church was interesting
today and was a fore runner for our Life Group which starts on Wednesday night
and for the next six Wednesdays. I am excited about getting together with
fiends and studying Gods word. After church eight of us went out for lunch at
Olive Garden, really enjoy their soup and salad. After we dropped off Grandma
Marlene flagged us down to tell us they were coming over to our place this
afternoon to get some more tubs for their move. We also stopped to visit with
Bud and Joyce on our way back home but only for a few minutes as we had to be
home for Norm and Marlene. After Norm and Marlene left Cheri and I went to Home
Depot to get a hand held shower head for the quest bathroom along with a couple
of towel bars (honey dew projects tomorrow). I had been looking at different
screw impact drivers for the last six month trying to figure out which one I
wanted. A while back Larry and I were in Home Depot and found a good deal with
life time warranty on parts, batteries, and labor. So while Cheri and I were
there I picked up the combo package of the drill, impact driver, and radio. I
didn’t tell Cheri but that was my main reason for wanting to go to Home Depot
instead of Lowe’s which is closer. While we were there we did some dreaming
about what we want to do in the master bathroom. All said and done we still
ended up at Lowes to get some paint that Cheri was out of. I had cut a piece of
plywood to put on the carpet in front of her sewing machine table so that her
chair will roll easily. Cheri wants to paint it to match the cabinets that she
had painted. It was after 6:00 pm before we got home. Cheri put a pizza in the
oven for supper.

What
a nice relaxing day we had. Mike and Pam invited us to go with them to Dunedin
for the Art and Craft show, they pick us up at 9:45 am. The first thing we did
when we got there was to ask the first person we saw who was helping with car
parking where the best place was to go for lunch and he directed us to the
Broadway Deli, it was busy and the food was excellent. They had the street
blocked off for the Art and Craft show. We saw so many different things that
were beautiful and interesting as we were walking we kept thinking we were to
the end and it just kept going, must have been at least six blocks long. Cheri
and Pam were really good shopper as they did a lot of looking without doing any
buying. Yes they also checked out a few shops along the way. It was near 4:00
pm when we got home. What a wonderful day to spend with close friends.

It
was good news, bad news day. The good news was we accepted and offer for our
truck and 5th wheel this morning and deliver them to Camping World
late this forenoon. We were very impressed with them as they would not buy it
because their inventory was very high on used 5th wheels, so they
went out and found an RV broker to get an offer for us. We also got an offer
from Lazy Days that was six thousand below the offer from Camping World. The
bad news is our RVing is over. It was a sad moment when we drove away leaving the
truck and 5th wheel behind. We really wanted to RV for another few
years but because of having to be here to take care of my mother (Grandma) our
RVing has come to an end. But more good news was when we bought the house in
July. We stopped and had a late lunch at Subway and then went over to Grandma’s
to get her grocery list and head to Wal-Mart because we also had to pick up her
medicine. I stood in line for her medicine while Cheri picked up the groceries.
We both got done about the same time. After all was said and done it was 4:00
pm before we got home. I had some computer work to do and Cheri started supper,
fixing a meat loaf and fried bread dough, been a long time since we have had
either one, sure was good. It was a stressful day and we were both tired from
it so we headed to bed early.

Well
I canceled the motorcycle ride today as there were rain showers in the forecast,
good thing I did as around 10:00 am we got a hard rain for about half an hour.
The rest of the day was better but short on sunshine. I worked on washing the
van as it was a big job. It had an oil film on it from the oil leak we had. I
had to quit around 11:30 am before I got done, my back wouldn’t take anymore.
So we had an early lunch before I went back out to finish it. It was about more
then I could handle. I still don’t have what it takes to get anything done
anymore. Cheri spent her time in the sewing room and I can now see where she is
making some progress on the wall hanging. There were times when I think she was
ready to pull her hair out. She does have a lot of determination and I knew she
would get it all figured out. Cheri had an appointment for her annual physical
this afternoon and came home with good results. Yesterday we got a call from an
RV broker with an offer for our truck and 5th wheel, still was
waiting for a call from Lazy Days with an offer and that call came late this
afternoon, they were way out of the ball park and I think they just want us to
give it to them as their offer was an insult. We had gone to the car repair
shop to see what we owed for the oil leak repair and to make an appointment to
finish the repair. He told me there was no charge as it took him so long to fix
it and have an appointment to take it back next Tuesday. After we left I told
Cheri that wasn’t right that we should at least pay for the parts he used. We
will settle up with him next Tuesday after he finishes the repair.

It
was another 34 degree morning and never got out of the 50’s today, also was
breezy. There wasn’t anything we need to do outside so we stayed in where it
was warm. Cheri spent most of her time in the sewing room working on a wall
hanging. It has been quite the challenge for her. I spent most of the day on
the computer, learning about seeker friendly churches. In the last year we have
been unhappy with the direction our church seems to be going. So it was time to
do some soul searching. I wasn’t happy about what I found on the internet. If
you have any droughts about your church, Google seeker friendly churches and
you will find out all sorts of information. There is some good information out
there to use as a guild on how your church is doing. We had a nice hot bowl of
soup for lunch which goes really well on a cold day. Tomorrow is supposed to be
back up in the mid 70’s. I have a motorcycle ride planed for tomorrow and it
should be a good day although they do have a 20 percent chance of rain. Later
this afternoon we wrapped up in our recliner blankets and watch some TV along
with a nap. It was a nice relaxing day in the Sharp house.

Cold
this morning, 34 degrees and the temp never got out of the 50’s today. We were
slow getting around this morning as we knew we weren’t going out for anything.
Late forenoon Larry and Denise came over to see what we were doing. I was
working on the computer trying to get some prices on how much our 5th
wheel is worth. The consignment place where we have it isn’t getting anywhere
with it, after almost six months it is time to do something else. So after
lunch the four of us went to Lazy Days and Camping World to see how much we
could get out of it by selling it to them. Now we have to wait for them to get
back to us, praying for good results. It will take a couple of days before we
hear anything. We got back home around 3:00 pm. Cheri started a crock pot cheesy
cauliflower soup to have for supper. After she got that done we sat down and
play three games of Pinochle and after supper we played a game of Hand, Knee,
and Foot. It was the girl’s night as they won three of the four games.

Much
warmer this morning and it was Cheri’s first day back at the pool since she has
been sick. Well she was home early as she said the water was cold and she
couldn’t stand it so they sat in the hot tub for a while. I worked on the van
doing some cleaning inside until noon. Cheri had a massage appointment this
afternoon. I was going to work on my paver project in front of the shed but we
got rain and it was too wet to do anything. So I worked in the shed sorting
through some more of the tubs that I had stuff stored in. I also washed up the
shop rags. When Cheri got home we watched a movie and then I started the grill
to do some brats and steak. Cheri fixed some potatoes and onions to go along
with the steak. She also made some sticky buns which were very good. I moved a
couple of plants inside as it is supposed to get done in the low 30’s tonight. It
was already in the low 40’s when we went to bed.

We
have experienced the cold weather for the last week, nothing like they are
having in the north but cold by Florida standards. Any way it was a very warm
day today with a temp in the mid 80’s with a lot of sunshine. I was really
looking forward to church today because of the sermon last week was so
inspiring, well I was in for a big disappointment, not a good sermon today.
After church five of us went out for lunch at a new restaurant in Zephyrhills
called Island Breeze Cuban Café. We had an excellent meal and will be going
back again. After we dropped off Grandma we went to Wal-Mart to get some
groceries, thought that on Sunday it wouldn’t be so busy, wrong again, really
busy. I spent the rest of the afternoon watching football and Cheri curled up
with a book. The Packer lost their game so football season is over for me.

Let’s
see at 6:00 am it is 43 degrees out and I have been invited to go on a motorcycle
with my neighbor Mike T. We are supposed to leave at 10:00 am. Well at 10:00 am
it was 56 degrees and partly sunny. I put on my cold weather gear and headed
out. Mike led me and three of his friends on a nice ride to Sleepy Hollow for
one of their steak dinners. Boy were we surprised when we got there as there
were only about twenty bikes in the parking lot. Usually there are a couple of
hundred bikes. Maybe it was the cool weather that scared them off. Several more
did come before we left. Mike asked me if I would lead the group back as he
didn’t know the way that we took when we went a few weeks ago. It really turned
out to be a good ride and not as cold as I thought it would be. It was near
4:00 pm when we got home and had rode170 miles. Cheri was resting when I got
home and she said that she spent the day sewing. After supper we watched a
couple of movies or I should say Cheri did as I slept through most of them. All
the fresh air today made me tired.

It
was another cold morning, not sure I wanted to get out and about. We had plans
to be at Larry and Denise’s at 10:00 am. Cheri and Denise went one way shopping
and Larry and I went a different way. Cheri and Denise had to go to the new
Hobby Lobby’s here in Zephyrhills. Boy are they excited about having a Hobby
Lobby here and today is the Grand Opening. Larry and I headed to Harbor Freight
in Lakeland. Larry was looking for some socket extensions and I was looking for
a small pry bar to remove trim. Larry found what he was looking for along with
a couple of other things. I didn’t find what I wanted but did buy a set of
o-rings and a new battery for my drill. We headed back to Zephyrhills and made
a stop at Home Depot. I found the pry bars I was look for and also found a good
deal on a new battery powered drill along with a drill driver. The good thing
about it was it is guaranteed for life, parts, labor, and batteries. Larry and
I both think we should have one, we decided to wait and ponder on it for a
while. We were about ready to leave the store when we got a call from Denise
and Cheri wanted to know where we were, they just got done with Hobby Lobby and
wanted us to meet them back at Larry and Denise’s for lunch. After lunch we played
pinochle. Cheri and I had to learn how to play as it has been 35 years since we
last played and had forgotten how to play. We used to play a lot of it with my
mom and dad. Cheri and Denise whipped Larry and me pretty bad. Cheri and I left
around 4:00 pm and headed to Beall’s as I need to get a new pair of shoes and
they were on sale and I had a 10 dollar coupon to use, save 25 dollars. When we
got home we settled in to have pizza and watch TV.

Cheri
had a fasting lab appointment this morning for her yearly check up; she did a
couple of errands while she was out. When she got home she worked on doing laundry.
I did some more clean up in the backyard along the fence and then worked on the
pavers that I was putting down in front of the back shed. I wasn’t happy with what
I had done so I torn it out and started over. I had a few large pavers; I am
going to use them to frame in the brick pavers which will help hold them in
place. I got the large pavers that I had put in place and needed a few more so
after lunch I went to Lowes to get the additional pavers. I stopped to fill up
the van with gas and Larry called and wanted to know what we were doing. Long
story short, they came over and we played cards this afternoon. Cheri had a
pork roast with potatoes and carrots cooking in the crock pot. So Larry and
Denise stayed for supper and then we finished our card playing after wards. We
tried to watch a little TV after Larry and Denise left, couldn’t stay awake so
we called it a night and hit the hay.

It
was a cool nasty day with rain and no sun. Of course it was my excuse for not
doing anything today. Cheri is still nursing her cold, think she is a little
better, still doing a lot of coughing. It didn’t stop her from working. She
fixed us chip beef gravy on toast for breakfast. Then she worked in the spare
bedroom finishing putting away things in the closet. Early afternoon she fixed
shrimp scampi for a late dinner, it was really good. After dinner she baked a
cherry pie from scratch, so later this evening we had cherry pie and ice cream.
I spent the day in front of the TV watching movies and football.

As
I write this it hard to believe it is the last day of the year, seems like it
was just yesterday I was in the learning curve to write 2013 and now it is
over. As I look back there has been highs and lows to our year. Cheri had been
suffering with her knee off and on for over a year and this was the year to get
it repaired. She had surgery on it in April and it hasn’t got to be where it
should be and has had trouble with it ever since the surgery. Another low for
us was that we had to give up our full time RVing this year. It was something
we looked forward to for the last eight years, wanted to do it another two or
three years. We felt that we needed to be here to take care of Grandma. The
high for the year was buying a house and making it our home, well we are still
working on the home part but each day we get a little closer to it being our
home. It will be a work in progress for 2014 and on. This morning Cheri is
still not feeling well, doing a lot of coughing right along with me. It seems
like every time she coughs I have to cough an answer to her, which has gone on
all day. We did some more cleaning of things from the sun room. It seems like
we keep moving things around and things that were stored in the shed were
brought into the sun room and now I am taking them back to the shed. The good
thing is that each time we move things there gets to be less of them. I think
after about another 6 or 8 moves there shouldn’t be anything left. It would
have been so much easier to have gotten rid of everything right away but most
things are hard to part with. Cheri and I were pretty much worn out by noon. We
were supposed to have gone out to eat and celebrate the New Year with Mike and
Pam. We had to cancel do to our sickness. We went to bed early and was awaken
at midnight with the fireworks going off, rolled over and went back to sleep.
2014 made it without our help.
