Gay Feb-15-14

After a relaxing morning sitting around visiting and drinking
coffee it was time to get out and about. Jeanne and Cheri headed out shopping
at Beall's and Hobby Lobby. They eat lunch at Panera Bread. Bruce and I
headed to Fantasy of Flight. It is about 30 miles from here in Polk City. It is
a very active museum of all different airplanes. There is somewhere around 150
airplanes and they all have been refurbished to their original condition. Plus
they all are flyable. The owner Kermit Weeks was there today and talked to us,
giving a little history of his life and the plans he has for his museum. He
also flew a P-51 Mustang that was built in 1945. He did several fly by’s plus a
couple of four point barrel rolls. Bruce and I were so wrapped up in seeing all
the airplanes that we forgot about having lunch until 3:00 pm. We got to visit
the warehouse that is full of engines, the wood shop where they rebuild all the
wooden parts and in some case the whole plane. We also got into the fabricating
shop and the maintenance shop. After looking at all the planes on display we
went through two very large warehouses that were full of airplanes that needed
to be restored. We were told that with the people they have now working on
restoration that it would take 3,000 years to get them all done. It was after
4:00 pm when Bruce and I left for home. What enjoyable day it was and I know I need
to go back again and take more time to read about each airplane. We had
leftover lasagna for supper which we eat late because of the late lunch that
Bruce and I had. We spent the rest of the evening watching the Olympics. It was
another great day that God made for us.
