I wasn’t able to get any internet service here at the 5th wheel today, had to go down by the office. When I got done uploading the blog and checking the e-mail I looked up and Roger was sitting in the van with his computer. We visited for a bit before I headed back to the 5th wheel. I worked on installing the two way radio in the truck for the trip. It is a radio with more power and will reach out about 30 miles. We also got two hand held radios one for Cheri and one for me. I remember on nice it was to have a radio on our last trip. Spike and the tail gunner were giving us updates and narrated the trip as we traveled. This time we needed the extra radios as we will be doing a lot of different things and will need them to keep in touch with everyone to answer questions and relay information. Last night Roger and I went over to the storage unit and picked up the yellow vests that we will hand out to everyone. This afternoon Cheri and I went through the boxes of vests and laid them out and put people’s names on them so they will have the right size vest. We made a trip down to the office to see if any of our group was coming in today, as far as we know the first ones will be coming in Monday. They had told us yesterday that a couple was coming today but had the wrong name. Roger and Theresa left around noon to go and spend a couple of days with his mother; she lives a couple of hours east of here.

It was another free day for us. Although Cheri continues to think of things we should do for the caravan trip. The other day I told you that our DVR quit working and I had tried everything to make it work and no luck. So today I was going to take the receiver from the bedroom and install it in place of the DVR. Just for the heck of it I tried the DVR again and it was working. The gremlins are at work again. Cheri did some laundry and I finished cleaning out the back seat of the truck. Cheri also got out her paints and put our name and web site on the back of the generator cover. We walked down to the campground office and found out some of our group will be arriving tomorrow (the fun begins). Around 6:00 pm Theresa Powell and Roger Johnson arrived in the campground. Roger is the mechanic, he follows the caravan and takes care of any problems that people may have with their rig. Theresa helps with parking rigs in the campgrounds along with any other problem that people have. Only this trip Theresa won’t be with us as she has taken a librarian job back in Texas for a school district, we sure are going to miss having her with us. Theresa spent about four hours going over everything she had to help us out for the trip.

Today was a free day for us as we have most of our work done that needs to be done before the caravan people start coming in. We did our morning walk in 49 degree weather, no wind so was very nice. After breakfast and showers we headed out to explore some of the places in the area so we can be of help to the caravan people and tell them places to see before we head out on the caravan. We went up to Hazelton again to take pictures and we stopped at the Boat for a lunch of soup and ice cream afterwards. We took a tour of the museum which was very interesting. Back in 1918 the town of Hazelton put up a prize of $1000 dollars to the first person to drive a car into town. There were over 20 cars that started out from Seattle Washington. Some of them make it as far as Burns Lake. The problem was that from Burns Lake to Hazelton there weren’t any roads (180 miles). The guy that did make it had two mechanics and several other people making a road for him to drive on. They tried following the horse packing trails but they had to be widened for the car. Long story short the guy finally made it in a Studebaker. After checking out the rest of Hazelton we drove down by the Hagwilget suspension bridge (big scary bridge) to take pictures of it and Hagwilget canyon. The Kisplox river flows down the valley until it come together with the Sheena River. At the point where the two rivers come together is where our campground is located. The mountain that is close to the campground is called Stekyawden, I can’t stop taking pictures of it as the clouds move through you can always have a different picture, it is so beautiful and pictures don’t show all of its beauty. My loving wife celebrated her ?? Birthday today. We  did our morning walk and it was 52 degrees this morning. The weather report says it is going down to 44 degrees tonight. Sounds like electric blanket tonight. This morning when I turned on the TV nothing happened, it turns out the DVR has quit working. Well we wouldn’t be watching much TV for the next month anyway. We can watch TV in the bedroom. I worked on washing the truck today and didn’t get done until 1:00 pm. We drove up to Hazelton to have a birthday lunch for Cheri. She order fish and it was really bad so when we told the waitress she didn’t charge us for her meal. So Cheri says she gets to go out for another birthday meal. After lunch we drove down to New Hazelton to check out the grocery store and see what all they have so when some of our caravan group is looking for groceries we can tell them where to go. As we drove into New Hazelton it started to rain and had to wait in the truck for it let up before making a mad dash for the store. When we got back to the campground the truck was dirty already. I couldn’t stand it so I got the hose out again and wash off the dirt. Sorry this is late but we just got internet service back here in the campground.

Well it’s the end of another month, the summer is flying by for us and we haven’t started the best part which will start any day as people start coming in for the Alaskan caravan. We had a few rain showers last night and it was partly cloudy this morning. So after our morning walk and breakfast I went to work on washing the 5th wheel. What a job as it hadn’t been wash since we left Florida. It was 2:30 pm before I got done and then I worked on the uploading the blogs and pictures from the last few days when we didn’t have any internet service. The internet service has been hit and miss form our campground site and I thought I would have to go down by the office to upload the pictures. As it turned out when I got ready to upload the pictures it went pretty good from our campground site. So by 4:00 pm I was done and ready for a very hot shower as every bone in my body hurt. Cheri spent most of the day cleaning and defrosting the refrigerator. She also baked some muffins.
