We decided to do some Geo-Caching today. I loaded five caches into the GPS unit and we took the motorcycle into Wisconsin Dells. Two of them were along the Wisconsin Dells River Walk. This was something new that we didn’t know about. It was a very nice walk high above the river. We took some pictures of our walk and of the river. It was a hot and humid day so we found the five caches and headed to Applebee’s for lunch. This was another experience. As the hostess was showing us to our table Cheri tripped over the waiter that was down on one knee and had his leg out in the isle. If the table hadn’t been there she would have fallen flat on her face. The waiter felt really bad and apologized and then came to our table again and apologized to Cheri. A little later the manager came to our table as the waiter told her what had happened and she wanted to make sure Cheri wasn’t hurt. She told Cheri she could have dessert on the house. We ordered and when we got our meal Cheri’s ordered her steak medium and it came very rare. She sent it back and ordered chicken roll up. The waitress wanted to know if we wanted to talk to the manager and we said no. When Cheri got the chicken roll up, they almost miss putting in the chicken. Well after we eat the manager brought over Cheri’s dessert and said that our meal was on the house because of what happened to Cheri’s steak. Then Cheri told her about not having much chicken in the roll up. We like going to Applebee’s and this is an example of how they take care of their customers. We were back home by 2:15 pm and had only put 20 miles on the bike, just too hot to enjoy riding. We stayed inside and watch movies on TV. We planned on going to the stock car races this evening and called that off also because of the heat. I have uploaded pictures of the day click on http://picasaweb.google.com/sharpstravels and then click on the album: Wisconsin Dells Geo-Caching.

It was clear and 71 degrees at 9:45 am when we left for a motorcycle ride. We did more back roads and country riding. Our first stop was at a garage sale that Cheri saw. She found a couple of things for Cece. Cheri took a lot of pictures again today of the country side and a lot of old interesting buildings. Strange how the back roads lead us to Carr Valley Cheese factory, yep we were out of cheese curd and needed some more. The next stop was at an old country second hand store that had just about anything you could want that didn’t need any electricity. We were in an area where a lot of Amish people live and there were several in the store when we arrived. They had stuff in every room of the building including the upstairs and attic. It was fun looking around. Our next stop was at a filling station to get an ice cream bar to top off the cheese curt that we eat at the cheese factory. Our next stop was at a little park by the river just to rest and watch the water. We got back home around 3:00 pm. We rode 110 miles. It was 84 degrees by the time we got home and figured we had enough sun and fun for the day. I have uploaded pictures of the day click here http://picasaweb.google.com/sharpstravels then click on album: country ride July-29-11.

Today we had rain off and on again pretty much the same weather the last two days and our humidity is back. It was the last day of the World Faith conference. We got to hear Dr. Larry Ollison present his message this morning. He will be leaving this afternoon heading back to his church in the Lake of the Ozarks. We are really going to miss hearing him alto we will be able to get his Sunday service on line. If you have interests go to his web site at http://www.faithman.org/. His daily devotionals are great with a message that is very easy to understand. We didn’t go to the evening conference session as we just weren’t interested in hearing Pastor David Gonzalez. He wasn’t a bad speaker just that we had a hard time understanding what he was trying to get across and would end up talking about himself. On the other hand we could have sit and listen to Dr Larry Ollison all day, very good messages and so easy to understand. This afternoon we stayed inside as the weather wasn’t that great outside. Cheri did her laundry and I did a few inside jobs like putting latches on the night stands by the bed. It was a long afternoon and are looking forward to better weather tomorrow and maybe (I hope) a motorcycle ride.

It was raining when we got up this morning and rained off and on most of the day. Today was pretty much a repeat of yesterday. We left here at 8:30 am for the World Faith Conference. Once again we got to hear Dr. Larry Ollison speak this morning along with David Gonzalez. The morning session lasted until 12:30 pm. We went back to the 5th wheel for a late dinner. I checked the radar as it wasn’t raining at the time and it looked like I could get some grilling done before it rained again, wrong. It started raining before I got done grilling the brats and pork chops. Cheri fixed some corn on the cob, nothing better than fresh picked sweet corn. We spent the rest of the afternoon play cards and watching TV. We were back at the World Faith Conference at 7:00 pm and got to hear Dr. Larry Ollison speak on sin, another excellent message. We bought three of his DVD’s on our way out. We were back home by 9:30 pm. We were both tired and headed to bed and tried to watch a little TV which didn’t last long before we fell asleep.

Today was the first day of the World Faith Conference at Mountain Faith church. Back in the first two weeks of June we went to the Walk on Water church in Lake of the Ozarks where Dr. Larry Ollison is the Pastor and founder of the church. We were so impressed with his speaking that we stayed an extra two days so we could hear him speak again. At that time he told us he would be speaking in Wisconsin Dells at the World Faith Conference. Long story short we made our plans to be in Wisconsin Dells so we could attend the conference and hear Dr Larry Ollison speak. Well we were not disappointed as he spoke in the morning and again in the evening and was excellent. We also got to hear the David Gonzalez pastor and founder of Mountain faith Church speak and he also was very good. The morning session started at 9:00 am and was over at 12:00 pm. We were severed a very nice lunch and then went back to the 5th wheel to relax. The evening session started at 7:00 pm and lasted until 9:00 pm. We had wonderful day learning more about Gods faith and what he can do for us. If you are interested you can go to this web site http://www.worldfaithconference.org/ to learn more and even watch live the next two days of the conference.

It was a very nice day with low humidity and a high of 85 degrees and a perfect day for a motorcycle ride. Henry and Marietta are leaving the campground today and are going home (Richland Center). So we followed them on the motorcycle as far as Reedsburg and had lunch with them at Pizza Hut. Henry said we should follow him so we would be sure to eat at the same Pizza Hut, which made us laugh after what happened to our lunch date at Culver’s. After our buffet lunch we said our goodbyes as we won’t see them again until next year. I dropped Cheri off at the quilt store and I went to the post office and the filling station to fill the bike with gas. When I got to the quilt store Cheri was just getting started. By the time she got done we left with two bags of material and patterns, more winter projects. From Reedsburg we rode the back roads to the Carr Valley Cheese factory to get some more fresh cheese curd. We got to see a video on how cheese is made. Cheri had never seen cheese made before so she thought it was very interesting. Many moons ago in my younger days I use to haul milk and help make cheese on weekends to make some extra money. From there we took more back roads to Rock Bridge to view the water running through the rocks. It has been over forty five years since I was last there, many changes over the years. It is a very nice park. By the time we left the park it was already 4:00 pm and time to head home. I was a nice 95 mile ride and was home a little past 5:00 pm. With having a big lunch today we pasted on supper and settled for cheese curd and popcorn for the evening. What a wonderful day we had that God made. Cheri took a lot of pictures today of many different things, old barns and the country side, also several pictures of Rock Bridge. It was one of those days when a lot of little things happen that test you. I made a wrong turn going to church, not a bad thing but it almost made us late for church. This was a new church for us and was much different than any church service we have been to. After church we decided to stop a Wal-Mart being we had to go by it on the way home, which was only two miles from the church. I thought that I would try a short cut, will my short cut turned out to be about 10 miles, although we had a nice ride through a state park. At Wal-Mart I went to fill my prescription and was told that I needed a new prescription from my doctor. I told her that I have three refills left. She said that she had to talk to the pharmacist and to come back in about 20 minutes. When I got back everything was ok, the lady that I talked to didn’t check the computer close enough to see that my scrip had to be transferred from the last Wal-Mart I used. I had told her that it had to be transferred but I guess that went right over her head. While I was waiting I told Cheri I was going to the rest room and we got mixed up on where we were going to meet afterwards. I finally got a call from Cheri wanting to know where I was. I guess I didn’t listen because I was waiting at the wrong place. This Wal-Mart was old and things were not laid out like the other ones we have been in, so it took a while to find what we wanted (a challenge for old people). Then we waited in the wrong line at the checkout (the shortest line isn’t always the fastest). We ate lunch at Subway in Wal-Mart without any problems. It was after 1:00 pm before we got home. We see Henry and Marietta were sitting outside so we went over to visit with them. I asked them about yesterday and what happened that they didn’t make it to Culver’s for lunch. Henry said we were there and wondered what happened to us. We went to different Culver’s. I had asked Henry how to get there and he said to take county H to the stoplight and turn left and Culver’s would be just up the street on the left. The directions worked whether you went left or right out of the campground. Left took you to the Culver’s in Reedsburg and a right took you to the Culver’s in Wisconsin Dells. We all had a good laugh about that. Of course that brought up a lot of funny stories of things that have happened in the past. It was another great day that God made for us along with a few Challenges.

Rain was predicted for this morning and when I looked out all I could see was fluffy clouds and blue sky. I went over to see Henry this morning and he had their toaster apart and said that it wouldn’t keep the bread down so it could toast. He was trying to find out why. I helped him finish taking it apart and didn’t see any reason for it not to work so we put it back together and it worked fine. We sat and visited for a while and then Cheri came over and Marietta came out. After visiting for a while we all went over to our place to show them our 5th wheel and Cheri want to show Marietta her quilts. So after that we decided to go for lunch at Culver’s and Henry and Marietta would meet us there. Well we waited 45 minutes for them and they didn’t come. So after we ate we headed back home and just made it before it started to rain. It rained most of the afternoon and then the sun came out again and got very hot. We didn’t see Henry and Marietta come home, so we don’t know what happened for lunch. They weren’t around when we left to go to the stockcar race at the Wisconsin Dells Motor Speedway. We left before the last race was over because it started to sprinkle and wanted to get to the truck before it really started to come down as we knew the race would be stopped. Well I think we missed the end of the race because on the way home all it did was sprinkle, not enough to stop the race. I was still another nice day God made for us. I have uploaded pictures that Cheri and I took yesterday on our motorcycle ride. Click here http://picasaweb.google.com/sharpstravels and then on Album July 22, 2011 country ride.

It started to rain around 4:00 am, nothing hard, just a nice steady rain. So I could see no reason to get up early so I stayed in bed until 7:00 am, can’t remember the last time I stayed in bed so late. With the rain I figured the day was going to be a washout. Boy was I wrong about that as it quit raining around 8:30 am and the sun came out. It was a nice 72 degrees and no humidity. Yep it was time for us to go for a motorcycle ride. We left at 10:00 am and headed on all the back roads. I managed to fine our way to the Wisconsin Dells Speedway. We plan on going to the stockcar races on Saturday night. Then it was on to Mauston so we could stop at the cheese factory to get some fresh cheese curd. They had just got done making it so it had a lot of squeak when you bite into it. Then it was more riding back roads not really knowing where we were or where we were going. That’s the fun of it. Around 11:30 am we stopped at a gas station for a break and an ice cream bar. So our lunch for today was the cheese curd and an ice cream bar. More back road riding and it was starting to get pretty hot so we headed for home. We made one more stop at a farm market to get some corn on the cob to go along with the steak on the grill for supper. It was almost 3:00 pm and 115 miles later when we arrived home. It was a great ride. God made another wonderful day for us.

It was another slow day for us as we needed to recharge our batteries. We decided to go for a motorcycle ride today. When we went outside I see Henry and Marietta were out so we went over to visit with them. They were here last year while we were here. It was nice to see them again this year. We visited for an hour or so and then took our motorcycle ride. We headed out looking for the Mountain Faith church. We will be going there for church Sunday and also we are going to the World Faith Conference next week which is also going to be there. After we left the church it was time to look for a place to have lunch. Cheri had seen a fancy ad for the Pizza Pub in the welcome magazine that we got when we checked in to the campground and said that she want to go there sometime. Well the sometime was today because we happened to ride by it so we made that our lunch stop. It wasn’t all that good and won’t be going back again. When we came out of the Pizza Pub the sky was getting dark and looking a lot like rain so we headed back to the 5th wheel. They did have rain predicted for the day. So we settled in for the rest of the day reading and watching TV. As it turned out it never did rain.

We were slow getting around today as it was move day for us and we only have about 70 miles to go. We can’t get into our campground at Christmas Mountain near Wisconsin Dells until after 12:00 pm. So we Cheri said we should go to Fennimore for breakfast has it is our favorite place to go while we are in Boscobel. I didn’t think we would get there. But we had time today so we headed over to Fennimore for breakfast. It was excellent as usual. It was near 10:30 am by the time we got back to the 5th wheel. I already had most everything done before we left for breakfast so we were on the road heading for Wisconsin Dells by 10:45 am. We arrived at Christmas Mountain at 12:15 pm. After we got checked in we unloaded the motorcycle and I rode over to our campsite to see if we could fit in it as a lot of the campsites here aren’t large enough for us. Well it turned out to be the best site we have ever had here. In fact it is the first time that we were able to get satellite TV. There are so many tree here I was surprise that we were able to get a shot at the satellite. I left the motorcycle at the site and walked back to the truck and 5th wheel where Cheri was waiting. We had no trouble backing into the site. It is another very hot and humid day, 95 degrees for a high and with the humidity the heat index is around 105 degrees. I was soaked with sweat before I finished setting up. We will be here for 14 days and plan on doing a lot of motorcycle riding if the weather will cooperate. Nikki called us this afternoon and it doesn’t look like it is going to work for them to come over here to spend a weekend with us. I took some pictures of Betty’s flowers when we were at their place in Richland Center and forgot to post them, so here they are.

Today was our day to spend anyway we wanted to. So we headed to Prairie Du Chine where there is a shoe cobbler. Cheri needed to have her sandal repaired. Shoe cobblers are almost a thing of the past and are hard to find. So we took advantage of the one in Prairie Du Chine. We dropped it off and he told us we could pick it up in an hour. So we headed to the Old Cannery which is now two floors of about anything you could possibly want or need. We didn’t buy anything so I guess need anything. Our next stop was the quilt store downtown, where I found out from Cheri that we wanted and needed something. She bought a couple different kinds of foots for her sewing machine and some kind of pattern for quilting with her sewing machine. After picking up her sandal at the cobblers shop we headed to DQ for a hamburger and shake. It was ok but not as good as the ones we had in Lake of the Ozarks. From there we took a different route home and stopped along the way to take some pictures of old buildings which is one of my hobbies. It was around 3:00 pm when we arrived home. The weather today was a repeat of yesterday so we stayed inside the rest of the afternoon. Cheri did some reading I did some work and playing on the computer. After supper we watch some TV shows we had recorded.

At 6:00 am it was already 79 degrees and was 6 degrees cooler in Zephyrhills Florida. That was just the beginning. It got up in the high 90’s with a heat index of well over 100 degrees. It was one of those days that you stay inside with the air conditioner. Of course I am not that smart as we bought some flowers and took them up to the cemetery to put on Dad’s (Grandpa’s) grave. Then we made a stop at the hardware store so I could get a can of black spray paint. After we got home I changed and put on my old clothes and crawled under the 5th wheel and painted the places that we had welded so they won’t rust, then I put the mud flap back on the truck. Needless to say I was soaked and wet from the sweat when I got done, time to take another shower. Ok now I know that I should stay inside. Cheri did a couple of loads of laundry and we couldn’t run the air conditioner while the dryer was running because we only have a 30 amp service at this campground. So after the first load was dry we cooled the 5th wheel down before doing the other load. This afternoon we went over to Burl and Dorothy’s. They took us over to meet their neighbors (Charlotte and Don) next door. She is into making quilts and Dorothy want Cheri to see all of her quilts. I couldn’t believe all the quilts she had, I am sure we looked at well over 100 different quilts of different sizes. After visiting with them we headed back to Burl and Dorothy’s and got ready to go out for supper. They took us to Readstown to eat at the Kickapoo Inn. Burl and Dorothy had taken us there a few years ago and was very good. On the way home we took a lot of back roads where we all used to live 50 years ago (except for Cheri). Hard to believe how much things have changed. When we got back to Burl and Dorothy’s we had a bowl of sherbet and watched a little TV with them before saying our goodbyes as we won’t see them again until next year. All I can say about the weather is it is hot and humid, when we would go outside our glasses would fog up.

After church we headed to Viroqua to spend the day with (cousin) Roger and Jean Klousia. We try to get together every year for a day of visiting and playing cards. Jean and Roger fixed us a very nice dinner and then afterwards it was time to visit and play cards. We taught them how to play Hand and Foot. Roger and I won one game and Jean and Cheri won one. Then Roger said we can’t quit as we half to play the rub. Sounds like someone else we know in Florida, right Pam. Well the Jean and Cheri won. It started to rain just as we were ready to head home, didn’t last long and didn’t cool things off much. It was hot and very humid today the high was in the high 90’s with a heat index of around 108 degrees. It was after 9:00 pm when we arrived home, watch a little TV and called it a night.

We spent the day in Richland Center visiting my cousins, Dean and Betty Unbehaun, Rick and Janis Unbehaun, and Ken and Eileen Klousia. We met at Dean and Betty’s at 11:00 am, after visiting for a while it was time to go down to Richland Square for lunch. Then back to Dean and Betty’s to play dominos. Being there was eight of us, we guys played at one table and the ladies play at another table. After dominos Betty served us a pie and ice cream which was excellent. Ken and Eileen left along with Rick and Janis. Dean and I sat and visited while Cheri and Betty played SOB. After this it was time for a sandwich which Betty fixed for us. After supper we headed over to Ken and Eileen’s as they now live in a new assisted living place called Our Home. It is very nice and has all the things they need. After a visit with them and a few pictures it was time for us to head home. We had to make a stop at Wal-Mart on the way and got home a little past 9:00 pm. It was a hot and very humid day in fact it made us feel like we were back in Florida. It was another beautiful day that God made for us to be with family.

It was move day for us so we needed to get things closed up get on the road early as we had an appointment at the welding shop to have the broken welds fixed that were done at the factory. Our appointment was for 9:00 am. After we got hooked up we headed over to Coz and Nikki’s to get the motorcycle. I left it at their place last night because it was suppose to rain during the night but that never happened. Things went well at the welding shop. They had a bay open and ready for us when we arrived at 8:30 am. They went right to work on it and did some reinforcing of the slide out rail. They also had to weld the ram mount. Then they welded the mud flap mount on the truck. So by 11:00 am we were done and on our way to Boscobel which was only 150 miles. After we got set up we headed over to Burl and Dorothy’s (uncle and aunt). They weren’t home so I asked Cheri what she wanted to do. She said you can take me to my favorite stores. Cheri has two stores that she has to visit every year while we are here and she always seems to find something that she can’t live without, this year was no exception. When we got back to the 5th wheel we gave Burl and Dorothy a call and they were home. So they came and picked us up at 5:00 pm to go to Woodman for a Friday night fish fry. We had been to this little out of the way bar that severs very good fish. Well it used to anyway as the fish wasn’t has good as it used to be. After supper we came back to the 5th wheel to visit and Cheri to show her quilts to Dorothy. We will be here in Boscobel for the next 5 days staying at the Dream Catcher RV Park. This is one of our yearly stops to see family and friends. Today was the first time I got to use the new rear camera on the 5th wheel and it worked well. Also the extra lights on the back of the 5th wheel did their job and look good.

I started out working outside around the 5th wheel putting some things away to get ready to leave here tomorrow. Cheri took the truck and went over to Coz and Nikki’s. I follow a little later as I wanted to get the motorcycle washed and detailed as it hasn’t been done since we left Florida and was very dirty. When I got the Coz and Nikki’s, Coz had new brakes he wanted me to put in their truck. We started to work on it until it was time for Coz and Cheri to take Cece for her swimming lesson. I stayed and work on the brakes. I found that we needed a new brake caliper. So is started cleaning motorcycle. After they got home, Coz went to get the new brake caliper and also got oil and filter for the truck. Then it was time for Coz to take Cece for her doctor’s appointment. I was still working on the brakes when they got back and was about done when Cheri said it was time for lunch. Cheri had made a tuna casserole out of some tuna that ended up in our groceries when we were shopping. Cheri said we got two big cans of tuna and she checked the slip and we paid for them. So some lady got home and thought she had tuna and found out she didn’t get it. Well neither one of us is fond of tuna but now has used one can. After lunch we were about to finish up the truck brake job and I asked Coz where the brake fluid was and he just looked at me and said I forgot to buy it. So off he goes to get the brake fluid and I went back to work on cleaning the motorcycle. After he got back we finished the brake job and then Coz changed the oil and I finished cleaning the motorcycle. It was after 4:00 pm and Coz, Cece, Cheri and I were going to take a ride on the motorcycles to the meat market in Brandon to pick up some steaks to have on the grill for supper. I decided not to go as I still had the basement bath room to finish. So Coz and Cece went to get the steaks and Cheri and I finished the bathroom. Nikki started supper when she got home and Coz grilled the steaks. After supper we played a game of Hand and Foot. I think the girls were mad at us for wining last night as they beat us really bad tonight. They were ahead of us by over 8,000 points after two hands and also won the third hand by a large margin so we didn’t play the last hand as there were no way we could catch up. One more thing while we were playing cards Nikki looked outside and said it was raining. Well my nice clean motorcycle was setting outside. The rain lasted only maybe three minutes but was enough to get the bike good and wet. I was sick about that after all the work I did cleaning it. Coz and I got the bikes in the garage and wiped them down and then went back to playing cards. It was a long day and we both came home really tired and went straight to bed.

I left for Beaver Dam at 8:00 am as I had a 9:00 am appointment at the dentist office to have a crown done. I was in the dentist chair for two hours before he got done. I told him this is the only place I know of that I pay to have pain inflected on me. He got a good laugh about that. It was a little past noon before I got home. Coz had picked up Cheri at 10:45 am to go and watch Cece do her swimming lesson. Then they went to Fleet Farm to pick up the trim for the bathroom. They got back to the 5th wheel about 12:30 pm. After lunch we went back to Coz and Nikki’s to work on the bathroom. We got most of it done before Nikki got home. We will finish that project tomorrow. It was time to go for a motorcycle ride up to Pipe to have pizza for supper at Big Al Capone’s. The building was built in 1846 and was a stagecoach stop. It was a hotel with a kitchen and dining room, a bar for the men and an ice cream parlor for the women on the first floor and 22 rooms on the second and third floors. In the 1920’s legend has it that notorious gangster Al Capone stayed there when visiting his brother. The building is now a State Historical Landmark. We had pizza there last year and it was very good so we thought we would try it again this year and we weren’t disappointed as it was very good. In fact we were there during happy hours so we got two drinks for the price of one and it was also half price pizza night. Wow! It doesn’t get any better than that. Then we headed back to Coz and Nikki’s to have pie and ice cream. We also played one game of Hand and Foot that Coz and I won. It is the first time Coz and I have won playing against Cheri and Nikki. It was another great day that God has made for us.

It was a very nice day, high of 75 degrees and mostly cloudy. I was out early this morning washing the truck and was done with that by 9:30 am. We had company coming today and wanted to get it done. Now all I have left to do is get the motorcycle cleaned up. Well I still have a few other odd jobs that I need to get done. Our company Bill and Barb arrived around 10:30 am. We spent the day visiting and catching up on what they have been doing for the last year. Barb and Cheri used to work together at the medical center in Beaver Dam. Barb is also into quilting so they had a lot to talk about today. Barb was showing Cheri how to make a quilt using some new way which I didn’t understand. Barb even brought Cheri sample so she can see how it is done. Bill and I talked about everything else. We took them to the Back Yard for lunch, first time we have been there this year. I couldn’t believe how busy it was on a Tuesday at 12:30 pm. We actually had to wait for a table. The food was very good as usual. After Bill and Barb left we settled in for an evening of TV.

Around 2:30 am I could hear the thunder in the distance and it finally got here around 3:30 am and was windy enough to rock the trailer. The good thing is that it was over by 5:30 am and it did rain hard. So I headed outside early this morning so I could finish washing the 5th wheel. Well I got the roof, back, and half of the side done when it started to rain again. So I headed back inside to wait out the rain. I was able to get my computer work done for the day before it quit raining. Nikki came to get Cheri and they were off shopping again (do women ever get tired of shopping?). The rain stopped so back outside to finish washing the 5th wheel; it was a little after 12:00 pm before I finished. After I showered and got cleaned up I decided to go for a motorcycle ride. I rode south to Theresa and stopped at the cheese factory and got some fresh cheese curd. Of course as soon as I got outside I had to eat a few pieces, sure was good, been over a year since we have had any. I continued my ride around the back roads in the area and ended up back in Fond du Lac 55 miles later. I did see a lot of tree limbs down from the storm last night. When I got home Cheri was already home and said that she was going to fix lasagna for supper and Coz and Nikki were coming over to eat. Cheri makes the best lasagna, never have had any better than hers. Nikki made a rhubarb pie and was still warm when we had dessert. Man was it good. The scales are telling me I have been eating too well since we left Florida. What’s fellow to do when they put all that good food in front of you. Well maybe tomorrow I will do better (don’t bet on it).

Gay July-10-11

After church this morning I decided to wash the 5th wheel and Cheri to clean and do laundry. It was overcast with rain predicted for this evening. So I thought I would get the 5th wheel washed and then the rain this evening would give it a good rinse job. Well the best laid plans sometimes go bad. I was about half done washing the roof of the 5th wheel when it started to rain, not hard just a light drizzle. Well the lighting and thunder got closer and I thought that being on top of the 5th wheel in the open probably wasn’t the best place to be so I got down and just as I did the lighting struck the building behind us. God was defiantly looking out for me. Then it started to rain really hard and I got pretty wet before I got motorcycle and truck put back in it place. So I figured the rest of the day would be a wash out. Coz called us and wanted us to come over for lunch. So we headed over to their place. After lunch we play a game of SOB so Cece could play and Cheri won that game. Cece didn’t want to play anymore so we played a game of Hand and Foot. Nikki and Cheri beat us so bad that we didn’t even play the last hand. We started another game and the results were the same as the first. Coz headed off to bed as he has to leave for work at 6:15 pm. Later Cheri and Nikki went to get a Papa Murphy’s pizza for supper. After supper Nikki, Cheri and I played one more game of Hand and Foot that I won. Then it was time for us to head home. We watched the rest of the NASCAR Race and a couple of other shows we had recorded. Oh by the way the rain this morning only lasted about 45 minutes and never rained again, so much for trying to outsmart Mother Nature.

Not much going on today. It was very hot, dry and windy. Being outside was like being in a blast furnace. Coz, Nikki and Cece came over for breakfast. Cheri fixed egg sausage muffins for Coz and me and pancakes for Nikki, Cece and herself. We had a nice visit and played a question and answer game with Cece. Cece would ask the questions and who ever answered first got the point. It was the girls against the guys. Of course Cece was also the judge and sided with the girls. It was fun and we had a lot of laughs. Coz and Cece left at 11:00 am and headed to Oshkosh for movie afternoon with several of Cece cousins. Nikki and Cheri went shopping and I finished wiring up the new lights on the back of the 5th wheel. I had trouble soldering the wires together as the wind was blowing so hard it took the heat way, so I had to make a heat shield so the solder would melt. Cheri and Nikki were back before I got done and started playing Hand and Foot. When I finished my project they had just got done playing a game so I join them for the second game. We were only half done when Coz called and said the movie was over and they were heading back home to pick up Nikki as they had a company picnic to go to this afternoon. After Nikki left Cheri and I finished the game of Hand and Foot which Cheri won. Then we settled in for an afternoon and evening of TV. For me it was TV then a nap and then more TV. It seems like every time I sit down to watch TV I fall asleep. Later this evening I tried to watch the NASCAR Race and couldn’t finish it because I fell asleep in that. Good thing I recorded it so I can finish watching it tomorrow. It was a great day God made for us to spend with our family.

Gay July-8-11

I made a quick trip to the grocery store for Cheri this morning; she has a couple of new recipes that she wants to try for supper and needed a few things for them. Today was a play day for Coz and me. We took off on the motorcycle for a day’s ride. Our first stop was in Byron at the welding shop so I could make an appointment to have the welding done on the slide out of the 5th wheel. The appointment is for Friday morning on the 15th, which works out well for us as we are leaving here and heading down to Boscobel for a few days. Then we headed over toward Plymouth by way of all the back roads. Cece is at Girl Scouts Camp and has to be picked up at 7:00 pm this evening. He wasn’t sure where it was at so we used my GPS and found where the camp was at. Then we stopped in Plymouth for lunch and had one of the best hamburgers I have ever had. Then back on all the back roads working our way back to Fond du Lac. Cheri got the beans in the crock pot cooking and the chicken in the marinade sauce this morning. She took the truck along with the food over to Coz and Nikki’s. She did some more painting in the basement bathroom. She also went shopping downtown at Jo-Ann’s Fabric and Craft Store. It was near 4:00 pm before Coz and I got back. We had a great 133 mile ride. It got pretty hot today and we were both tired from being out in the hot sun, but well worth it as it was a very nice ride. After supper Coz and I took the motorcycles over to pick up Cece. She was real excited to tell Coz about her time at the camp and the ride home on the motorcycle. It was a 64 mile round trip and was near 8:00 pm by the time we got back. Cheri and I said our good nights and headed home. It was another great day that God made for us.

Gay July-7-11

The first thing we did this morning was go to the grocery store to pick up some extra thick pork chops so we could have pork chops stuffed with Italian sausage on the grill for supper this evening at Coz and Nikki’s. Cheri picked up a few other things for supper and also brought along some things from the 5th wheel. She is going to do all the cooking at Coz and Nikki’s so when Nikki gets home from work supper will be ready. Cheri also made a pecan pie. Coz and I worked on their dryer and found the blower was worn out. So while Coz went to get the parts for the dryer, I started to get things ready to change out the three water valves that go up stairs to the bath room. They are so old that you can’t turn them off anymore without them leaking. When Coz got back we finish up the dryer and now works like new. As far as the valve replacement goes I thought that we could just change the insides out, which would have been nice because they were soldered in and close to the ceiling of the basement. Well they wouldn’t come apart so that met getting the torch out to heat up the pipes and valves to get them apart. We had to get some tin up near the ceiling so nothing would catch on fire. Getting copper pipes apart that has had water in them can be problem if all the water has drained out because you can’t get them hot enough to melt the solder. Will things when well for us as they came apart without much of a problem. Then the three of us made a trip to Fleet and Farm to get the new valves and copper fitting we needed. On the way back to Coz’s we stopped at Subway for lunch. Then it was back to work on the valve replacement. We also added an extra valve to the water line that went outside so that it can be shut off in the winter. It was a little after 4:00 pm before we got the valve project done and things cleaned up. Then it was time to stuff the pork chops and get them on the grill for supper. Nikki got home from work just as we were ready to put them on the grill. So it was a great supper of stuffed pork chops, fresh green beans, scalp potatoes, fresh biscuits (with honey), and pecan pie for dessert. What a meal and nobody went away hungry. After supper we played a game of Hand and Foot that Cheri and Nikki won. It was 9:00 pm when we got home and I was ready for bed as it was a busy day for me and Cheri.

Gay July-6-11

We were on the road with the motorcycle at 7:45 am heading to Brandon to have breakfast with friends John and Linda Tschanz. We walked downtown (small town only 875 people) to local restaurant. Breakfast was very good. Cheri and Linda had to stop at a craft store on the way back. John and I headed back and visited while waiting for Linda and Cheri. When they got back we sat outside on the patio and we taught John and Linda how to play Hand and Foot. We only got part of a game done when we had to leave for Beaver Dam where we both had dentist appointments at 12:10 pm. After we were done with that we headed back to John and Linda’s to play another game of Hand and Foot. By the time we got done with that it was time to start the grill for some hamburgers. John and Linda’s neighbors Doug and Annette Henker (friends) came over for supper. After supper we play a couple of games of SOB. It was after 7:30 pm when we got done playing. It was time for Cheri and me to head for home. Being we had the motorcycle I wanted to get home before it got dark. It was a perfect day with a lot of sunshine and nice fluffy clouds in the sky with a high of 75 degrees.

Gay July-5-11

I headed outside the first thing this morning and started installing the extra tail lights up high on the 5th wheel. The ones on the back are hidden by the motorcycle when it is on the lift. I do have some on the back of the motorcycle lift but they are kind of low so I think this will make us more visible. I was about half done when we got company. An old friend (Jim Patrenets) from our Gold Wing Road Riders Association days stopped to visit. I think it has been over ten year since we last seen him. We had a nice visit getting caught up on what he and Debbi have been doing. I did get the lights mounted on the 5th wheel, but run out of time to wire them up as we went to the movie’s this afternoon to see Jerry Crowne. It was a pretty go movie. After the movie we went over to Coz and Nikki’s so Cheri could do another coat of paint in the basement bathroom. Coz has a couple of jobs for me on Thursday so while Cheri was painting I checked out what has to be done. He has three water valves that need to be changed and work on the dryer. We got home a little past 4:00 pm and a short time later we got a little rain. Nikki stopped in after work and ate supper with us. Coz stopped by on his way to work. Once again we played one game of Hand and Foot with Nikki and Cheri won again.

Happy Fire Cracker day to everyone!!
Cheri left early with Nikki as they have a project at Nikki’s painting the half bath in the basement. I worked on the rear camera project on the 5th wheel. I finished the installation around 4:00 pm. All I have left to do is readjust the camera which I will do tomorrow as I was too tired to get it done today. By the time I got all the tools put away it was after 4:30 pm. I was hot and sweaty and needed a shower. It was 88 degree today with a lot of sun and no shade to work in. Nikki and Cheri got back around 5:00 pm. Coz came about 5:30 pm and we had left over Italian Sausage Rigatoni for supper. I think it was better today than it was yesterday. Coz left for work at 6:15 pm and Cheri, Nikki and I played a game of Hand and Food that Cheri won. Nikki left at 8:30 pm as she has to work tomorrow and want to get to bed early. Cheri and I watched a little TV and went to bed as we were both tired from our busy day. There sure were a lot of fireworks going off all around us.

Gay July-2-11

We went to the 9:00 am church service this morning and then on the way home we stopped at Wal-Mart. Cheri want to get her hair cut and when we walked in she didn’t have to wait so I started looking around in Wal-Mart. It wasn’t long and she called me and said she was done. Cheri had a long list of groceries she needed. Can’t believe how big the shopping carts are getting. I can remember when it cost us $40 to fill a grocery cart and today we spent $198 and the cart wasn’t full. We are finding out it is tough living on a fixed income and everything keeps going up, I remember Dad and Mom saying the same thing twenty years ago, some things never change. After lunch Nikki came over and we played Hand and Foot. Nikki is really getting into the game. Later Coz stopped in on his way to work and we had time to play one game with him before he had to leave. Cheri fixed a new dish for supper called Italian Sausage Rigatoni. It was very good; hope she makes it again sometime. After supper we played another game of Hand and Foot. Here is a picture of the sunset we watched while playing cards.

Gay July-2-11

Not much to write about today. It was a nice day with the temp in the high 80’s and breezy. Cheri spent the day going through her quilt books and reading. I also saw here looking at recipes. Nikki is coming over for supper tonight maybe we are having something new for supper. Coz is working nights now from 7:00 pm until 7:00 am, so they don’t get to spend much time together because Nikki works days. I spent the day running the cable for the new rear camera I got for the 5th wheel. Yep you’re right it is another camera project for the 5th wheel. In fact it is the third one. The first one was a wireless camera and that never had a steady pictures so this spring I removed it and put on a cheap hard wired one that I bought at Harbor Freight. It worked one time after I got it installed and it didn’t have a good enough view of the back. So here I go again. This time I bought a hard wired camera system with all the wiring and monitor for the truck. Well it took me all day to run the cable from the front of the 5th wheel to the back and top location for the camera. I did get the camera mounted and all that left to do on the 5th wheel is secure the cable to the underside. While I was under the 5th wheel I see a place where the factory put in a new rail for one of the slide outs has already broke away from the frame, a very poor welding job. They also didn’t reattach the cables that run along the frame in that area. So tomorrow I am going to take pictures and send them to the factory to see what they are going to do for me. By the time I got everything put away it was 5:30 pm. Yep Cheri made something new for supper called pineapple casserole, doesn’t sound very good but I am here to tell you it was very good. She also baked some berry muffins along with a special glaze on the ham. All were excellent. After supper the three of us played a game of Hand and Foot. It is a lot harder to play with three people than it is with four and partners. After Nikki left I settled in and watched the NASCAR Race that I had recorded earlier, Cheri read and also watched with me.

Gay July-1-11

Wow! Can’t believe that June is gone already, how time flies by when we are having fun. Today the wind was so strong that we could be outside to do anything, so with that we settled in for a down day. Cheri gave me a hair cut this morning, good job to have done. Cheri also did some laundry and cleaning. I cleaned the air conditioning filters and dump the black water tank. I had planned on doing some work outside but with the wind it wasn’t possible to do the work I wanted to get done. Coz and Nikki came over around 11:30 am and Cheri fixed lunch for us. They had to leave at 1:30 pm as they had a date with friends to help bottle wine. This afternoon I tried to watch some TV but fell asleep and when I woke up Cheri had been sleeping also. We played a game of Hand and Foot and then back to watching TV. Nikki called us around 4:30 pm and said they were on their way to pick us up to go out for a Friday night fish fry. We went to a place called Country Side that was about 25 miles out in the county that we haven’t been to before. We had heard that the fish was really good. Well they were right as it was the best fish we have had in a long time. We did have a long wait as the place was packed with people waiting, but well worth the wait. When we got back home we taught Coz and Nikki how to play Hand and Foot. The girls beat us guys pretty bad. Of course Nikki really liked the game and I am not sure about Coz, maybe it was because we lost. It was 11:00 pm before we got to bed; I knew there was a good reason why we took a nap this afternoon. Yep the wind was still blowing hard when we went to bed.

Gay June-30-11

Today is the last time we get to spend some time with Darren and Jodi as they have a wedding to attend tomorrow and then they are heading back home to Atlanta. The time we spent together was short but lots of fun. It also is the last day we will get to spend with Cece for a week as she has to go back to her mothers. We were supposed to get rain today but it bypassed us and was sunny most of the day and really too windy to enjoy our motorcycle ride. Jodi came this morning to pick up the motorcycle trailer and Coz, Darren and I rode our motorcycle over to Jodi’s parents place. We visited with them for a while and then it was time for Coz and I to head back to Fond du Lac as Coz wanted to spend the afternoon with Cece before she has to leave in the morning. We had a late lunch of leftover brats and hamburgers. We played one game of SOB which I was lucky to win, first time I have won since we have been here. Then it was movie time. Cece found a movie that she wanted to watch. So we settled in to watch it or I should say I only watched about five minutes of it before I fell asleep. I woke up just as it was getting over. Cheri said it was time for us to go home. Cheri had a nice visit on the phone this afternoon with Pam. She updated us on what has been going on in Florida while we are gone. Thanks Pam as we miss all our Florida friends. This evening Cheri and I got caught up on some of the TV shows that we had recorded. Thanks to God for letting having another day with our family.
