Gay July-7-11

The first thing we did this morning was go to the grocery store to pick up some extra thick pork chops so we could have pork chops stuffed with Italian sausage on the grill for supper this evening at Coz and Nikki’s. Cheri picked up a few other things for supper and also brought along some things from the 5th wheel. She is going to do all the cooking at Coz and Nikki’s so when Nikki gets home from work supper will be ready. Cheri also made a pecan pie. Coz and I worked on their dryer and found the blower was worn out. So while Coz went to get the parts for the dryer, I started to get things ready to change out the three water valves that go up stairs to the bath room. They are so old that you can’t turn them off anymore without them leaking. When Coz got back we finish up the dryer and now works like new. As far as the valve replacement goes I thought that we could just change the insides out, which would have been nice because they were soldered in and close to the ceiling of the basement. Well they wouldn’t come apart so that met getting the torch out to heat up the pipes and valves to get them apart. We had to get some tin up near the ceiling so nothing would catch on fire. Getting copper pipes apart that has had water in them can be problem if all the water has drained out because you can’t get them hot enough to melt the solder. Will things when well for us as they came apart without much of a problem. Then the three of us made a trip to Fleet and Farm to get the new valves and copper fitting we needed. On the way back to Coz’s we stopped at Subway for lunch. Then it was back to work on the valve replacement. We also added an extra valve to the water line that went outside so that it can be shut off in the winter. It was a little after 4:00 pm before we got the valve project done and things cleaned up. Then it was time to stuff the pork chops and get them on the grill for supper. Nikki got home from work just as we were ready to put them on the grill. So it was a great supper of stuffed pork chops, fresh green beans, scalp potatoes, fresh biscuits (with honey), and pecan pie for dessert. What a meal and nobody went away hungry. After supper we played a game of Hand and Foot that Cheri and Nikki won. It was 9:00 pm when we got home and I was ready for bed as it was a busy day for me and Cheri.
