Things are getting back to normal after a wonderful vacation. Cheri went
for her morning pool exercise and I did my work out on the exercise bike. It
felt good to get back in the groove. After all of this it was time to get some
work done. Cheri went to Wal-Mart to get groceries and medicine for Grandma.
When Cheri phoned in the order for the medicine she was told it would be ready
today. Well none of it was ready today and will have to go back again another
day. She also made a stop at the bank for Grandma. While she was out she did a
little shopping for herself and looking for things for the remodeled bathroom.
I went over to our neighbor to fix an electrical problem she had. Then I
watered the flowers and clean out the bird feeder and got it filled. By the
time we got all of this done it was noon. After lunch Cheri got some pork chops
going the crock pot for dinner. I worked on hanging three doors on the linen
closet. Then I removed the back splash from the vanity base cabinet. I removed
the old lighting from above the mirror and found that the new lighting we
bought isn’t going to work out so we headed to Home Depot and checked out what
they had and did find something that Cheri liked. So when we got home I got the
wall where the old lighting was repaired so Cheri could get it painted, after painting
three coats it was time to quit for the day. After dinner we settled in for an
evening of TV as it is Cheri night to watch Dancing with the Stars.

We took Grandma to church with us and then out for lunch at the Chowder
House with Life Group friends. When we got back to Grandma’s Cheri had to order
medicine for her and she told me that she couldn’t get on Face book because she
didn’t know her user name and password. I couldn’t help her as I didn’t set her
up on Face book. Her friend Kathy had set it up and I told her she would have
to ask Kathy what she used for the user name and password. When we got home
Cheri went to the sewing room and I headed for the recliner to watch the
Packers play the Bears. The Packers played an impressive game on offense but
the defense still needs a lot of work. After the football game it was time to
watch the NASCAR race that I had recorded. Cheri came out with a new small
purse that she just competed, looks nice. This evening we watch a couple of new
fall shows which were pretty good.

Cheri wanted for us to go and get our haircuts today. I said not on
Saturday because it would be really busy. Well she is smarter than I am because
we went over a little after 9:00 am and got right in without any waiting. From
there we went over to Lowe’s to get a toilet paper holder, while we were there
we ended up buying the vanity lights for the bathroom. We wanted to buy some
Mum plants and the ones we wanted were $15, decide to take a ride over to Home
Depot and check the Mums there. Well we got the same size plants there for
$5.79 each. We bought four of them to put in the flower pots in front of the
house. We stopped and filled the car up with gas, got 37 mile to the gallon for
the 400 plus miles to Marco Island and back home, happy about that. When we got
home Cheri was busy fixing some kind of chicken in the crook pot, finished the
laundry from our trip and then disappeared to the sewing room. I went out and
transplanted the Mums. After lunch I put up the new toilet paper holder. The
part for the exercise bike came so I got it installed and the exercise bike is
back in working order. I have really missed not having it for my work out each
morning, now I have to get back into my morning workout routine. I spent the
rest of the afternoon watching the Wisconsin Badgers play South Florida. The
Badgers did win but not like the perditions that the sports people talked
about. I thought about washing the car but the humidity was high and besides it
did rain this afternoon, that’s my excuse and I am sticking to it.

We were all up early when the anticipation of leaving and heading for
home. We had everything cleaned up the cars packed and ready to leave by 8:15
am. The owner came at 8:30 am to check to make sure everything was left the way
it was supposed to be. We sat and visited with him until 9:00 am. Then it was
time to get on the road heading north towards home. We followed Mike and Pam as
Pam had this place in Punta Gorda called Fisherman’s Village that she wanted to
stop at and shop, of course that was also a plan Cheri was ready for. There
were a lot of neat shops that Cheri and Pam shopped in. Mike and I walked and
waited on a bench to visit while they shopped. We eat lunch while we were there
in Harpoon Harry’s, lunch was very good. We followed Mike and Pam back to
Zephyrhills and then on to home arriving around 3:30 pm. We got things all
unloaded and Cheri did a load of laundry. After we got things put away we
rested for a bit and talked about what a wonderful time we had with our friends
on Marco Island, something that we probably won’t have done by ourselves. So
thanks Pam for setting it all up so we could have some fun together. We see our
neighbors Mike and Kathy are back from New York for the winter so we went over
to welcome them back and visit for a while. It was another wonderful day that
God made for us.

We were up early again this morning but must say I had my best night’s
sleep since we arrived. It was a lazy forenoon as we spent time in the pool and
relaxing. While Mike and Ron continued with pool time Cheri, Pam, Sandy and I went
to tour a new model home here on the cannel. We all had different opinions
about it on likes and dislikes. Of course the biggest turn off was the price at
1.2 million along with 18 thousand in taxes each year. There are a lot of them
here on Marco Island. A lot on the cannel will cost in the neighbor hood of 350
to 400 thousand. Ron and Sandy went out for lunch; Cheri fixed chicken salad
for our lunch. After lunch Ron and Sandy did some more pool time and Pam, Mike,
Cheri, and I went to the museum here on Marco Island. It was the whole history
of Marco Island and was very interesting. When we returned Ron and Sandy was
getting ready to leave as they wanted to get home to see their kids before they
left for a week at Orlando. We hated to see them leave early, thought that we
would have another game of aggravation that we guys could win. After they left
we took a ride around the island and stopped so Pam and Cheri could do some
shopping, then ended up for dinner at the same place we eat at last night. When
we got home it was time for an evening of cards. Everyone was a winner except
for me as I was way back in last place. Today was our last day here and the
time went so fast.

I was up at 5:15 am; Mike and Pam have been up since 4:00 am. Cheri was
up early also. The four of us drove down to the beach and did a long walk on
the beach. Cheri and Pam were shell hunting. They both brought back a small bag
of shells. We got back to the house around 9:00 am. Ron and Sandy were up eating
breakfast. Sandy had a really bad black eye and was swelled up from the running
into the patio door late yesterday afternoon. The six of us headed to downtown
Naples for shopping and lunch. We had lunch at 5th & 6th
Street Diner. It was a very good lunch. After lunch the girls went shopping and
we guys went see the movie A Walk among Tombstones. It was a pretty good movie.
After the movie we hooked up with the girls and headed back to Marco Island to
have dinner at Da Vinci where we had their Happy Hour special. Cheri and I had
a 12 inch pizza for $7.00 which was excellent. Then it was back home for some
pool time. This evening the six of us play a game of aggravation which turned
out to be a very close game with the girls winning, we guys will have to have a
rematch tomorrow.

Gay Sept-23-14

I was up at 5:00 am hard sleeping in a strange bed. Cheri had the same
problem and was up early also. Pam came out around 6:15 am and over the next
couple of hours everyone was up for the day. Cheri and Pam did pool exercises;
Mike went for a walk and came back with a newspaper. Shortly after Cheri and
Pam got done with their pool exercise it started to rain and continues until
late in the afternoon. It put a damper on some of the things we were going to
do. Cheri and Sandy were checking out where we should go for lunch. Well the
place we pick turned out to be closed so we ended up at a place called Susie’s,
food was good. After lunch the girls did some shopping in the strip mall where
we eat while we guys visited. Then it was time to go to an ice cream parlor that
had an old time soda fountain, well it was closed. Then on down the road to
another ice cream place and it was closed also. I think God was telling us we
didn’t need any ice cream. From there Ron and Sandy went out exploring, Mike
and Pam took us to see some of the big fancy homes along the channels with
their big boats. Most of them were closed up for the summer, nice to see how
some of the poor people live. We ended up back at the house playing cards. A
while later Ron and Sandy came back. Sandy tried to walk through the patio door
without opening it, Pam try to do the same thing early this morning. We decided
to go back to Nacho Mama’s for dinner and have more of the tacos and wings.
From there we walked over to the beach and check it out, a very nice beach.
Mike, Pam, Ron, and Sandy headed back to the house and Cheri and I stayed to
watch the sunset. We said it was the prettiest sunset we have ever seen over
water and I didn’t have my camera with me. When we got home it was time for
Dancing with the Stars. After that everyone drifted off to bed.

It was all about getting ready for our trip down to Marco Island for a four
day vacation with our good friends Mike & Pam and Ron & Sandy. Cheri
has so much to take I thought maybe I would have to rent a U-Hall truck. We got
the car all packed except for the food because I had to take Grandma for her
doctor’s appointment. The one time you would like to see the doctor on time
didn’t happen, waited over an hour for her appointment. So we didn’t get on the
road until a little pass 1:00 pm. We drove though about 40 miles of rain and
some of it very hard. We did arrive at the house we rented at 4:00 pm. Mike and
Ron were in the pool and Pam and Sandy were relaxing by the pool. After a short
visit we all headed to Nacho Mama’s for supper. Cheri and I had their Happy
Hour taco special. We each had two taco which were very good and all for a
total of $5.30 sure can’t beat that. Ron & Sandy and Mike & Pam headed
for the grocery store and Cheri and I headed back to the house. I guess the
ladies rule the TV tonight as Dancing with the Stars is on. Pam, Cheri and I
were the only ones that lasted to the end of Dancing with the Stars. Ron headed
to the bedroom to watch Monday Night football. A little later Mike said that he
was going to go and watch the football game. Sandy said that she was tired and
was going to bed.

Yep it is Sunday, this I know because we went to church today. When you
are old and retired you lose track of what day it is. We took Grandma to church
with us. Seven of went out for lunch at Glory Days Grill, very good food but a
little pricey. When we got home Cheri decided to paint the inside of the
bathroom cabinets, do some laundry, get clothes out and ready to pack for our
trip tomorrow. I on the other hand was very lazy; it was an afternoon of
watching the Green Bay Packers get beat by the Detroit Lions and then the
NASCAR race. After all of this Cheri had me picking out what clothes I wanted
to pack. I checked out everything that Cheri wants to take and it looks like we
are going to be gone for a couple of months instead of four days. I guess it is
a woman thing as they want to be prepared for everything and we guys will just
wing it.

Gay Sept-20-14

It was another day of light rain and not much for sun. Cheri decided
that the yellow paint needed to be lighter so we had to go to Lowe’s to get
some more white paint in order to tone down the yellow. While we were there we
look at some of their readymade counter tops and Cheri found one that she liked
better than the one we looked at in Home Depot. We also bought the cabinet door
hinges. As soon as we got home we mixed the paint and Cheri started painting and
finished early afternoon. I worked on the computer getting the all the pictures
transferred to the external drive and doing a new backup. Then it was time for
me to sit down and watch the Wisconsin Badgers Play Bowling Green. It looked
like it was going to be a really close game in the first quarter but then it
turned in to a big blow out with the Badgers wining. This afternoon Cheri went
grocery shopping to get what she wants to take to Marco Island on our vacation
get away. I removed the exhaust fan in the bathroom so I could give it a good
cleaning. I also got the medicine cabinet back in and the door hung on it. Put
on the switch plate covers. The next phase will be to get the new counter top
and install it.

I was awake at 3:00 am and couldn’t go back to sleep so around 4:00 am I
got up. Cheri was up before 6:00 am as she had trouble sleeping too. I went to
check on her just before 7:00 am and she was painting the crown molding in the
bathroom. Cheri headed for the pool this morning and was back in short order
said that it was starting to rain. So we headed to Sherwin Williams get yellow
paint for the bathroom. When we got home Cheri started painting and I took
Grandma for her lab appointment. There were only a few people ahead of us and
thought that it wouldn’t be a very long wait but I was wrong about that. When I
got home Cheri looked at me and said the yellow paint was too dark. So we took
it back to Sherwin Williams to see if we could have it lightened. They added as
much white as the can would hold, brought it back home and it was still too
dark for Cheri. So we took the white paint we had and started mixing until
Cheri had what she wanted. She now has it all painted with one coat and she
still not sure if it is the right shade. I did some compute work this
afternoon, working on moving all my pictures to an external drive as our
computer drive is almost maxed out. It rained off and on this forenoon and then
this afternoon around 2:00 pm it really came down and was still raining when we
went to bed. It is still raining this morning as I write this blog.

Gay Sept-18-14

Cheri had a very busy day me not so much. Cheri did her pool exercise,
laundry, and put on a coat of paint in the bathroom. I went over to the
neighbor’s and weeded their flowers and trimmed the palm trees. I had ordered
the part for the exercise bike and they don’t want the old one back so I took
it apart to see if maybe I could find out why the display didn’t work. I know
it has to do with no power in the display but after checking what I could it
was a lost cause. I had nothing to lose and a lot to gain if I could have fixed
it. Cheri was just finishing her painting when Mike and Mary came for a visit.
We went out for a late lunch with them and had a wonderful visit as they told
us about their trip to Maine. Later Cheri rested and I did some computer work.
Around 5:00 pm UPS dropped off our new vessel bowel for the bathroom. It is
even prettier than the picture of what we ordered. Cheri was talking to Pam
telling her about it and they decided to come over and see it. Cheri is really
excited about getting it installed and getting the bathroom back to normal. All
the materials that Cheri picked out at Home Depot the other day are a great
match with the vessel bowl.

Gay Sept-17-14

It started raining a little before 7:00 am and continued on and off most
of the day, one of those days that you really don’t feel like doing anything.
Cheri wanted to go and look at paint colors at Sherwin Williams for the
bathroom. She picked up all different colors that she thought that she might
want and now has to make a final decision on what she wants. They told us that
they are having a 40 % off sale starting tomorrow so I guess that is where we
will get the paint. Our next stop was at Home Depot to look at samples of
counter tops and get a price on having one made. We also checked out the
different backsplash tiles. We really need to wait until we get the vessel bowl
so Cheri can pick the right color for the counter top and backsplash. Then we
went to Island Breeze for a late lunch. Oh we also stopped at Big Lots as Cheri
wanted to get some more fall decorations. I found some Christmas lights that I
thought would look nice and had to buy them. When we got home I headed to the
bathroom and removed a wall cabinet, towel bars, toilet paper holder, pictures,
medicine cabinet, and switch plate covers to make it easier for Cheri to paint.
Cheri was busy decorating with the things she got at Big Lots and laying out a
paint plan on paper of the colors and how she wants to do the painting in the
bathroom.

I don’t know where the day went, was busy all day but didn’t seem like I
got much done. Cheri on the other hand was a busy beaver, pool exercise, house
cleaning, reading, cabinet painting, and a new project in the sewing room. I
spent time with the credit card company getting a charge that wasn’t ours
removed from our card that was hacked. I also worked on getting our car
insurance changed and will be able to save $375 a year. While I was working on
the computer one of the bows fell off my glasses. I guess I could have done
what we would have done sixty year ago which was use some white first aid tape and
that would take care of it until you needed new glasses. I had a security
meeting this afternoon, not much going on, talked about getting the golf carts
fixed as it needs new tire rod ends and a new weather cover. After the meeting
I headed to the VA eye clinic in Tampa to have my glasses fixed. We had a hard
rain early this evening which didn’t last long but receive an inch of rain.
Cheri was happy with the results on Dancing with the Stars.

Gay Sept-15-14

I have been informed by Pam that our three days at Marco Island is four
days and not three days. I guess I need to pay better attention to what is
going on. Thanks Pam even Cheri didn’t catch it. When Cheri got home from her
pool exercise she put another coat of paint on the cabinets. This was the
fourth coat and she will have to put on one more coat. Cheri is not happy with
the paint as it doesn’t cover very well. I sprayed the final coat on the
cabinet door fronts. I had the same problem with the love bugs again today and
Cheri helped me get doors in the sunroom in order to keep the love bugs out of
the wet paint. They came out pretty well but will have to do a little touch up
on them after I get them hung. I also did a couple of honey do things for Cheri’s
projects. Cheri was busy this afternoon decorating for fall and had to go to
Hobby Lobby for a few things. Tonight Dancing with the Stars starts and Cheri informed
me that we would be watching it. I managed to stay awake for most of it. It
looks like the talent is not even close to what they had last season; of course
that is just me talking.

Our Sunday forenoons are pretty much the same each Sunday, picking up
Grandma and heading to church. Today there were only five of us going out for
lunch. Ron and Sandy had to be back at church by 12:30 pm for a meeting and
didn’t think they would have time for lunch with us. Craig had to stay for late
service as he was in charge of the videos. Michelle had some other things that
she needed to do. So it was it Mike & Pam, Grandma, Cheri and me. Sonny’s Barbeque
in Wesley Chapel was the lunch spot for today. When we got home Cheri put
another coat of paint on the bathroom cabinets. I did some computer work and
also got our new credit cards activated. When Cheri got done with her painting
we watched a movie. After the movie it was time for me to settle in and watch
some of the NASCAR race I was recording. Plus I was recording the Green Bay
Packers football game that started at 4:30 pm. We were invited up to Mike and
Pam’s along with Ron and Sandy for dessert. A short meeting to talk about our trip
next week to a home we have rented on Marco Island for three days. The girls
that we should get together to see who was bringing what. When we got home I
sat down and finished watching the NASCAR race. Cheri went to the bedroom to
watch something else. After the race I watched the Packers play the New York
Jets. The Packers did win but they need a lot more work before they are going
to be a championship team. It was 12:30 am before I got to bed.

Cheri fixed us a big Saturday morning breakfast which met there wouldn’t
be any lunch today. After newspaper and coffee it was time to get to work.
Cheri put a coat of paint on the bathroom cabinets and I sprayed a final coat
of paint on the backs of the cabinet doors. The bad part for me was the love bugs;
they managed to get into wet paint on four of the ten doors I sprayed. I
checked them this afternoon and I think I can just touch them up with a brush.
Plus it is on the inside of the doors where you wouldn’t see it. Cheri was able
to paint a second coat this afternoon; it looks like she is going to have to do
at least two more coats. We have been thinking about putting in a vessel bowl
for the new sink. We have looked at them at Lowe’s but too expensive. Well this
afternoon we did some searching on the internet and found something that we
both liked in a vessel bowl so we ordered it. We have only one sink now and
were thinking about putting in two but because of the cost of the vessel bowl
we are back to just one. Cheri was pretty sure of her colors for the bathroom
but now needs to wait until we receive the new vessel bowl as the colors and décor
will be done according to the bowl color.

Cheri did her Friday laundry and house work, then she cleaned the
bathroom cabinets getting them ready for paint. I sprayed primer on the door
fronts. That took care of the forenoon. After lunch we had to go and get groceries
and medicine for Grandma. On the way we stopped and checked Larry and Denise’s
house. Then a stop at Lowe’s to get new cabinet door hardware. Cheri found the
door pulls she wanted but there were only six of them and we need nine. So we
gave up on that and headed to Wal-Mart. While I was getting Grandma’s medicine
Cheri checked out what they had for cabinet pulls and found a box of ten that
she liked. When we got home I did some touch up painting on the cabinet doors.
Tomorrow I should be able to sand them again and be ready for the finish coat
of paint.

Gay Sept-11-14

I was informed this morning that the medicine cabinet door that I was so
proud of didn’t pass inspection. Cheri said that the sealer we put on gave it a
yellowing effect. I was told that I need to sand it down and repaint it. The 50
doors just went to 51 doors to do. The other evening I got out of the recliner
to close the patio door blinds and being stiff when I get up it takes me a bit
to get moving. Cheri said that as slow as I was going the tomorrow morning
paper will be there and to pick it up (my loving wife). Cheri headed for her
pool exercise and I started on sanding the cabinet doors. Things went along
really well and were done with sanded by noon. When I came in for lunch Cheri
had her laundry and Thursday house work done and was in the sewing room. After lunch I went to Lowe’s to get quart of
primer to spray on the doors. So when I got home it was time to start the paint
project. By mid afternoon the spraying was done and I was ready for a shower.
Cheri finished her purse project this afternoon. I also went and watered Mike
and Mary’s flowers. I finally got the information on where to get parts for my
exercise bike. I called them late as they are on the west coast. The display
head was $203, wasn’t sure I wanted to spend that much on and older bike but
still is less than half of the price of a new one so I ordered the display
head. We even had time for a late afternoon nap before supper.

Gay Sept-10-14

Cheri worked in the sewing room on her purse; I think she will have it
done in a couple of days. I put a coat of sealer on the front of the cabinet
door. It didn’t look all that good so I put another coat on after the first one
dried. It still didn’t look very good so Cheri came to my rescue and put on an
even coat. After it dried I hung the door and it looks great. Only 99 more to
go, oh that’s bottles of beer. I actually do have 50 more doors to paint. I
removed the remaining nine doors from the bathroom and have them ready to sand.
We got a letter in the mail from 21st Century insurance
congratulating us on the purchase of our new Honda Civic car and that they are
endorsed by Honda. So I checked them out and found that we could save $375 a
year. So tomorrow I am going to check further about making the insurance
change. The kitchen light quit working this afternoon, needs a couple of new
florescent tubes so headed to Lowe’s. Cheri said that the insert I made for her
sewing table was sagging. I check it and the clips that were holding it in were
bent and one of them was broke. So while were where at Lowe’s I looked for
something that would be better and found small metal clips. So when we got home
I replaced the plastic ones with the metal ones (Happy Wife---- Happy Life). We
got an e-mail from Capital One letting us know that they suspected that our credit
card had been hacked. I checked and sure enough it had been hacked. Someone charged
$84 at a Kroger store in Plano TX yesterday. So they started a fraud report and
canceled our card.

I played lazy again this morning in fact Cheri was home from the pool before
I got dressed this morning. I spent most of the morning in Bible study. I still
got the vinyl fencing on my mind and took a bicycle ride out of the park to see
how the fence in front of our park was installed. So with some more measuring
and internet search I finally know what I want. I figured it is going to cost
around $750 for the materials. Now all we have to do is save some money to do
the project. Cheri did her Tuesday house work and then to the sewing room. This
afternoon I got the plant pots moved to the rock garden in the back of the
house. Cheri put a coat of sealer on the back of the cabinet door that I spray
painted, wanted to make sure it was going to work before doing the front. So I
checked it late this afternoon and looked really good so tomorrow Cheri will do
the front and then that door should be ready to put back up. Later there was
time for both of us to take a nap before an evening of TV. We watched some on
demand TV and were able to see some behind the scenes of some new fall shows plus
we got to see the complete pilot of the new show called Forever which will air
next week.

We were up early this morning as we had to be on the road by 7:30 am for
an appointment in Tampa. On the way home we stopped at Sam’s to pick up a few
things and had a slice of pizza for lunch while we were there. Our next stop
was at the new Wal-Mart in Wesley Chapel. It just opened a couple of weeks ago.
When they were building it there was a rumor going round that is was supposed
to be the largest Wal-Mart in the US. I must say it is very big and the largest
one we have ever been in. I was very surprise there wasn’t an automotive
service center. One more stop to fill up the car with gas, had 30 cents a
gallon off with our Winn Dixie rewards card. Love bug season is here once again
so when we got home I had washed the car to get the love bugs off; if you don’t
get them off they can stain the paint. It is about a three week season in the
spring and fall, which also means no motorcycle riding as they are very hard to
remove from all the motorcycle’s crooks and crannies. Cheri had ordered some
special material for a purse project she wants to make and it came really late
this afternoon. So she all excited now and was in the sewing room already
laying things out for the purse. We still had time for a nap late this
afternoon.

We were back to early church today, picked up Grandma at 9:00 am. Pastor
Dean had a good message today. After church nine of us went out for lunch at
Olive Garden and a nice visit. After we dropped Grandma off we stopped by Mike
and Mary’s to water their flowers. When we got home I asked Cheri if she wanted
to go to a movie. So we quickly changed clothes and headed to the theater for
the 2:00 pm showing of The November Man staring Pierce Brosnan. It was a good
movie but not one of his best. It was after 4:00 pm when we got home which
pretty much took care of our day. Yesterday I found this series on the
Discovery Channel called The Yukon Man. It looked pretty interesting so I
recorded several shows. So we watched them this evening, very interesting how
people live in an isolated community. We also watched a new show on Fox called
Utopia, something like Survivor.

Cheri and I spent a quite day at home. We were slow getting around this
morning so Cheri fixed waffles and sausage for a late breakfast. After I got
cleaned up for the day I sat down and watched the NASCAR race that I had
recorded. Cheri read and played solitaire on her I-Pad. After the race was over
it was time to get ready to watch the Wisconsin Badger football. They played
Western Illinois. It was a fairly even game until the second half then the
Badgers really came alive with a big win. I did go outside to check on the new
plantings I did yesterday to make sure they had enough water. Then I spent some
time on the internet checking vinyl fencing and how to attach it to concrete.
Then we watched a couple of shows before it was time to watch the Sprint Cup
NASCAR race. We couldn’t stay awake for the whole race, will have to finish
watching it in the morning. So you can see it was a lazy day in the Sharps
house.

I was tired today because of the late night last night. So I had to push
myself to get anything done today which wasn’t much. When Cheri got back from
her pool exercise I went over to Grandma’s and clean the air conditioner coils
so it would cool better. It was almost lunch time when I got home so that was
all I got done before noon. Cheri was doing her Friday house work and laundry.
After lunch I went out and worked on transplanting the plant clipping that I
had started a couple of months ago. I also spent some time checking vinyl
fencing. I have been thinking about closing in a section of the carport with
some six foot fencing so I can have a work area that would be close in and not
have to worry about leaving something outside. This afternoon Cheri sorted
through her clothes and took a few things along with some of mine to the Habitat
for Humanity store. Mike and Pam picked us up at 5:15 pm and we headed to
Wesley Chapel to have dinner at Hibachi Japanese Express, very good as always.
Then we went to the 7:00 pm movie. We saw The Identical which was an excellent
movie. If you are in your 60’s or 70’s you will really enjoy it, probably a
movie that young people won’t go to see.

Cheri headed for her pool exercise and I headed out to sand off the beautiful
paint job I did yesterday. It took a while to get all the dust sanded out but
after the sanding and a repaint I think it looks better than it did yesterday.
When I came in Cheri was in the sewing room checking out a pattern she got the
other day for a purse. They had a sample of it make and hanging in the quilt
shop. She wanted to go back to the quilt shop to take a closer look at it. I
took a couple of pictures of it while we were there. Then we headed to Lowe’s
to buy some more cabinet paint and a sealer for to put on the cabinet doors. We
also bought three more large plant pots as I had started some plant clippings
and they are now ready to be planted. Cheri had stated a beef roast with potatoes,
onions, and carrots in the Crockpot this morning and when we came back from
Lowe’s the aroma in the house was a wonderful. We relaxed the rest of the
afternoon. Early evening I felt like ice cream but didn’t have any in the
freezer, Cheri was going to go grocery shopping tomorrow but decided to go this
evening so we could get some ice cream. When we got home we settled in with a
bowl of ice cream and got ready for the first football game of the season. The
Green Bay Packers playing the Super Bowl Seattle Sea Hawks. The Packers got a lesson
on how football is supposed to be played. If this was any indication of how
they are going to play they won’t be wining many games. It was a long night and
the game didn’t get over until midnight. Cheri went to bed before the game was
over, she was the smart one.

The first thing this morning we went over to check Larry and Denise’s
house and to pick up the air compressor. Then back home to do some more
painting. But before I got started I thought I should have an air regulator for
the paint gun. So I decided to make a trip to Harbor Freight. I asked Cheri if
she wanted to ride along. She said only if I would drop her off at Jo-Ann
Fabrics as she needs something for a project. We were back home by noon for
lunch. Cheri went to the sewing room and I went out and got things ready to
paint. I was very happy with the way it was looking, just as I finished the
painting the lawn people started blowing off the driveway, I couldn’t get them
stopped in time and all the dust that was blowing around ended up on my wet paint
job. Needless to say I was pretty upset, but overall it was my own fault
because I knew today was lawn mowing day. I cleaned up the spray gun and called
it a day. This evening Mike and Pam came over to visit and play cards. It was a
great night for us guys as we won all the games. Well Pam did win the draw to
deal cards first in the SOB game. It was a fun evening to spend with close
friends.

I started on project that
we have wanted to do since we moved here and that is to paint the cabinets in
the master bathroom. I started small by taking the door off the medicine
cabinet. I took it out to the shop and got it all sanded down and ready for
paint. Now comes the part that I am hoping will work. A while back I bought a
Wagner sprayer that I used on my tool cabinet. The plan was to use it to paint
the cabinet doors but after using it on the tool cabinet I knew it wouldn’t do
the job I wanted. So I bought an automotive paint sprayer to see if I could get
a good finish with it. In the directions it says it not for spaying latex
paint. But I did read some reviews that some people were able to spray latex
with it by thinning the paint with water. So I thinned the paint and tried it
on some cardboard and looked pretty good so I sprayed the back side of the
door. I must say it looked pretty good. But I did have a problem; my air
compressor doesn’t deliver enough air. I could only spray for a short time and then
had to wait for the air compressor to catch up. It was getting near noon and
had to quit and get ready to take Grandma for her B-12 doctor’s appointment at
1:15pm. When I got back home I check the door that I painted and I think if I
do a fine sanding on it and another coat of paint it will be ok. Larry and
Denise brought down a trailer load of different things for their new house and
Larry had brought an air compressor, I sent him and e-mail to see if I could
use it for my painting project. Well they called us this evening to give us an
update on what they have been doing and to tell me to use the air compressor.
Cheri did her Tuesday house work and then disappeared into the sewing room.

Another month is gone and
the snow birds will be returning soon. We had a road trip planned with Mike and
Pam today. We picked up Mike and Pam at 9:00 am and headed to St Pete to visit
the Florida Holocaust Museum. It was a good trip down with very little traffic
arriving at 10:00 am about twenty minute earlier than I expected we would. The
museum is a great history lesson on how badly the Jews were persecuted. I can’t
understand how humans could treat other humans that way. It is a place that
every person should have to visit so that no one forgets what happened. We
spent three and half hours there and I would like to go back again sometime as
there is too much to try and understand in one visit. For information go to their
web site at www.flholocaustmuseum.org
Ron
and Sandy are spending the week at the beach which was only about eight miles
from the museum. Mike and Pam had some Life Group papers for them. So we met
them on the Gulf coast at the Salty Rim Grill which was a couple of miles from
where they are staying. It was around 2:00 pm when we arrived and all were
pretty hungry. Cheri and I had their fish and chips and we both said that it
was the best fish and chips we have had in Florida. We had a nice visit with
Ron and Sandy. After we eat we headed up the coast to John’s Pass as Pam and
Cheri wanted to do some shopping. Mike and I walked the board walk and watch the
boats and people fishing. An hour later we met the girls back at the car and
then headed for home. It was a wonderful day to spend with friends. It was a
little pass 6:00 pm when we arrive home.

We
did something different today; we took Grandma and went to late church. Ron and
Sandy are at the beach for a week and they needed some Life Group paper work
that wouldn’t be available until after late church. Pam and Mike were going to
pick it up and wanted to know if we wanted to go to late church. So it was just
the five of us for lunch and went to the Wolfs Den Restaurant. It was a new
place for Cheri and me. I had an omelet that was very good but Cheri had a
chicken wrap and it wasn’t very good. After lunch Pam and Cheri took on car and
headed out shopping. Mike, Grandma and I took the other car and headed for
home. After I dropped off Grandma and Mike I stopped and filled up the car with
gas to be ready for our road trip tomorrow. Then I stopped at Mike and Mary’s
to water the flowers as they are still in Maine. When I got home I watched the
Green Bay Packer game that I had recorded. Cheri got home around 5:00 pm. After
our Sunday evening pizza we settled in for an evening of TV. After watching a
couple of shows I realized that the NASCAR race was on this evening, so we
started to watch it and couldn’t stay awake to watch all of it.
