It was a busy day for the
Sharp’s. After a leisure morning of coffee, breakfast of scrambled eggs,
morning paper, Good Morning America, and exercise it was time to get busy. We left
the house at 10:30 am to shop for Grandma. We bought all new bedding and
curtains. After a quick lunch at McDonald’s we went to work taking everything
out of Grandma’s bedroom, did a deep cleaning along with shampooing the carpet.
Cheri washed the new sheets and then ironed out the wrinkles in the new
bedding. It was 4:00 pm by the time we got home. Cheri had to bring the new curtains
home to do some modifying to make them fit. We were both were very tired and
ready for a hot relaxing shower and then an hour nap in the recliners. After
supper we watched a little TV and called it night.

Mel and Jan picked us up
at 9:30 am to go out to Bob Evan’s for breakfast. Mel and Jan likes going there
and we do too. It is a ways to go for breakfast but when it is good it doesn’t
make any difference how far it is. After breakfast we came back to our place
and we showed Mel and Jan the projects that Cheri and I have done over the last
six months. We sat and had a nice visit with them until it was time for them to
leave around 1:30 pm has they had a few thing that they needed to do. Cheri and
I headed out for Harbor Freight in Lakeland. I needed to get a new belt sander
for the wood projects I have been working on. While we were there I went a
little crazy and bought a bench grinder, a couple of air grinders and a
different set of wheels for my lumber rack. The ones I bought when I built it
weren’t big enough and it was too hard to move it when it is loaded with lumber.
So the bigger wheels should fix the problem. Our next stop was Beall’s Outlet
for Cheri, not sure what she wanted but she didn’t find it as she didn’t buy
anything. On the way home we stopped for a milk shake at Wawa, seems to be a
new thing we do every time we go to Lakeland.

After the last couple of
day of not getting much done it was time to get back in the saddle. After
breakfast I went out and did some more lawn raking and trimmed the bushes
between us and the neighbors. One more day of raking and that project will be
done. Jobs that I use to be able to finish in a day now take me three days.
Cheri was busy doing her Thursday house work and also went to the grocery store
for a few things as she had run out of laundry soap and wanted to get all the
laundry done today. After raking the lawn I started working on Cheri’s mantel
shelf. I work until 4:00 pm and have everything cut out and ready for sanding.
It took me a while to figure out how to cut crown molding. I down loaded a
cutting guild from the internet which made it easier to do. This afternoon
Cheri went and got groceries and medicine for Grandma. This evening we watched
and old war movie called Heartbreak Ridge starring Clint Eastwood which we saw
many years ago, didn’t remember much of it, back when they made good movies
without all the bad language.

I had planned on going out
early to rake some more of the lawn but was just too lazy to get myself to move
in that direction. We did go and get our haircuts that we tried to get a couple
of days ago. When we got home I still didn’t feel like doing anything. Cheri
left and went downtown shopping and I did some Bible study. I had 6:30 pm appointment
in Tampa to have a liver scan and was told that I needed to be there two and a
half hours before my appointment time. I didn’t understand why until I got
there and was given two 16 oz bottles of what I call chalk mixed with a little
water. I was told to drink one and then wait an hour and sip on the other on
for the next hour. Then I had to have an IV put in my arm. When 6:30 pm came it
was time for the scan which took a total of maybe seven minutes. It was 7:30 pm
when I got home. I had ordered a sample kitchen cabinet door and it came today.
When I got home Cheri had it lying on the floor beside the sample piece of
flooring we bought a few days ago. Well the flooring we like is going to be too
dark so we need to take our cabinet door with us to check on flooring.

I went out really early
this morning to do some raking in the lawn before it got too hot. I didn’t last
too long but did get three bags of leaves and twigs ready for the trash pickup.
I also cut the sprouts out of our neighbors palm trees. Pam called this morning
and wanted to know what we were doing today. She said that she and Mike wanted
to do something but didn’t know what. Long story short we decided to take them
on a road trip like what we did yesterday. We planned to leave at 1:00 pm. So
this morning Cheri and I made a trip to Lowe’s to get the materials for my next
project. Cheri wants me to make a mantel to put on the wall in the spare
bedroom. Cheri picked out the lumber design she wanted and now I am ready to
work on it. We also stopped to have haircuts but the lady that cuts our hair
was late from her doctor’s appointment and we didn’t have time to wait. We
picked up Mike and Pam and headed out on our road trip. We went over many of
the roads we were on yesterday. We also stopped at the National Cemetery as
Mike and Pam had never been there before and was a good place to stretch our
legs. Our next stop was the now closed for good Sleepy Hollow biker bar where
we used to make a bike ride a few times each year for their steak dinner, the end of another era. Our next stop was at
an Italian restaurant called Papa Joe’s. None of us have been there before so
weren’t sure what it was going to be like. Well it turned out to be one of the
best Italian restaurants we have been to. 120 mile later we were back home at
6:30 pm and was a fun afternoon with friends. This evening we got a much needed
rain that lasted about 45 minutes. Don’t know how much we got as my rain gauge
is off the fence but I would guess we got at least ¾ of an inch.

I hope everyone took time
to pray for our veterans who have passed and laid their life on the line so we
could have our freedom and also pray for our veterans that are standing guard for
our country today. Too many people don’t understand what Memorial Day is; all
they think about is a day off from work to play. When I got up this morning I
felt a calling that I was supposed to go to the National Cemetery in Bushnell
to pray and pay my respects. Cheri fixed blueberry pancakes for breakfast. I
told Cheri I was going to take her for a ride today but wouldn’t tell her where
we were going. We took all the back roads I could find and then ended up at the
National Cemetery to pay our respects. Then it was more back roads working our
way back home. We stopped in San Antonio to have a late lunch and early dinner
at Pancho’s Villa for Mexican. Then it was on home after a 98 mile ride. The country
rides is something Cheri and I used to do a lot after getting home from work.
It was a way for us to relax from a stressful day.

Grandma went to church
with us this morning. Pastor Randy had a very good message today. It was on
Forgiveness: The Tie that Unbinds from 1 Samuel 24. Sunday school class was on
Sexual Purity: The Joy of Moral Freedom. Charlie did an excellent job of
presenting the lesson. We were late getting out of church and Sunday school. So
when we got to ABC Pizza for lunch Mike and Pam were done and ready to leave
when we arrived. Really only got to say hi and good bye to them. Mel and Jan
also joined us for lunch. When we dropped Grandma off at home we picked up her
grocery and medicine list that she needs this week. Cheri has to call in for a
new prescription on the medicine so it won’t be ready until the end of the
week. It was near 2:00 pm when we got home. We spent the rest of the day
reading, napping, and watching TV. We did call Daren this evening and he and
Brooke are in the process of moving into their new home. Tomorrow night will be
there first night.

When I went out for the
paper this morning it didn’t seem to be as humid as the last few days. So I
figured I would take advantage of the dryer air. I cleaned the roof of the
house getting all the twigs and small branches that had fallen on the house.
Our house sets under a big live oak tree that covers all most half of the
house. Now I need to clean the rain gutter again but that will wait for another
day. At noon we headed toward Lakeland to have lunch at Red Top Pit Stop. Every
time we go past there the smoker is going so I figured that they probably have
good baby back ribs. So today was the day to find out. Well they were very
good, Cheri and I split the rib dinner and both had plenty to eat. It is the
first time we have eaten there and will go back again. We did have room for
some dessert so we went on into Lakeland and stopped at Wawa for a chocolate milk
shake. We filled the car with gas and took a country back road ride home. When
we got home I tried to watch the NASCAR race but did more napping then watching
TV. I check on Cheri and she was also taking a nap. While we were gone yesterday they unloaded the
materials for the new fence behind the homes on our street. I think we are the
last ones in the park to get a new fence as it has been an ongoing project.

It was a 93 degree day and
we still have the humidity. We left this morning at 10:15 am and headed to
Safety Harbor which is south west of Tampa. Our friends Mike and Mary moved
there about a year ago and we don’t get to see them very often so we had
contacted them and made plans to see them today. We had a good visit with them
at their place before going out for a late lunch. Mary is into making beads and
all different kinds of jewelry. She showed us some of the pieces she has made, beautiful
work. She also has been taking some lessons. Mike continues to work on his 1949
Chevy Nomad and thinks he will have it home this next week where he can do the
finish work. On the way home we stopped by friends Ron and Sandy to check their
home and then to check on friends Larry and Denise’s house. We arrived home a
little pass 5:00 pm. I got Cheri’s sewing table assembled and put in the sewing
room and now is ready for her to use. The last several evenings we have had lighting and thunder but not rain. Well we had the lighting and thunder again this evening and got rain it must of lasted all of two minutes. Things are really dry here, summer rain in Florida can be really spotty.

It was 80 degrees by 9:00
am, another hot humid day; I think our hot humid summer weather is here to
stay. We do need rain really bad as the lawns are starting to turn brown. Cheri’s
eye is coming along and her vision gets a little better each day. While she was
doing her Thursday house work I went out and cleaned up my shop and am now
ready for my next project. We were both done with work around noon. I told
Cheri that she should call Pam and Mike to see if they wanted to meet for
supper at Bahama Breeze. They are still at their time share in Orlando. Cheri
got Pam’s voice mail so she left a message for Pam to call us. Pam called Cheri
around 2:30 pm and said she had told Mike it would be nice if we would make the
trip to Orlando. So she was excited when she found out what we had planned. We met
them at 4:00 pm at Bahama Breeze. For the third time I had the same thing to
eat that I had the other two times we have been there, Skillet simmered jerk
shrimp. Cheri had the chicken Quesadillas and we shared the warm spinach dip
and chips. After we eat we went back to Mike and Pam’s time share and play
cards. So it was a fun afternoon and evening with friends. We got home a little
past 9:00 pm.

Cheri had a follow up
appointment for eye at 8:00 am. She got a good report and has another follow up
in three weeks. We went out for breakfast after her appointment. We went to
Sunrise restaurant, been over a year since we were last there. We split a
breakfast and both had plenty to eat, no lunch today. When we got home Cheri
went to the sewing room getting things ready for her next project. I went out
and trimmed the shrubs and gave the flowers a drink with some fertilizer in the
water. I was going to clean up my shop from the sewing machine project but that
didn’t last long as it was just too hot and humid to be out working. Cheri
needed to make a trip to Lakeland to take the dress she bought back to have the
security pod removed. The store alarm never went off when she bought it but it
went off when we returned. Then we went to Floor & Décor to look at kitchen
back splashes and flooring, getting more ideas on how we want the kitchen done.
We did buy a sample piece of flooring that we liked. Make another stop at Sam’s
Club for the ready cooked ribs but they didn’t have any. Spent another $75 and
still no ribs. We also stopped at Wawa for a smoothie and ended up getting milk
shakes as they were having a sale on them. It is the first time we have had
milk shakes there and were very good. Which also met that there wouldn’t be
much for supper.

Cheri’s surgery went well
and were back home a little pass noon. Thank you for prayers. Mel and Jan were
at the surgery center when we arrived. We prayed together before Cheri went in
for her surgery and then they stayed until Cheri was ready to go home. Cheri
rested in her recliner the rest of the day with me waiting on her. That was the
least I could do as she waited on me hand and foot when I was laid up. I did
assemble the sewing table this afternoon. The paint still needs to cure before
I can put the sewing machine in it. The rest of the day was spent watching TV
and napping. We needed to be ready to watch the final Dancing with the Stars.
It was a good results show.

Cheri has eye surgery at
10:20 am tomorrow (Tuesday) to have some floaters removed from her right eye.
So we would like to have prayers for her surgery to go smoothly, a quick recovery,
and normal vision. I am not really sure what all Cheri did today but I know she
cleaned the sun room from the mess I made from working on the sewing table. Every
time I came into the house she was busy doing something. I worked on painting
the sewing table. It was a five step process, two coats of paint on the bottom
and three coats on the top. I had to clean the spay gun after each coat of paint
and then wait for the paint to dry so it was a long day, the last coat of paint
went on around 6:00 pm. Around 7:30 pm I was able to bring all the parts in the
house so tomorrow I will put it back together. I also found out today that we
are getting a new fence behind the house so in between coats of paint I moved
things that we had hung on the fence and moved the flower pots over by the
house. Plus I moved the white gravel away from the fence. We watched Dancing with the Stars this evening
and Cheri and I both think Riker should win; now we have to wait until tomorrow
evening for the results show.

Grandma didn’t go to
church with us today as we had a quest speaker and there wouldn’t be any
message notes for her so she went to church with friends from her park. Our
guess speaker was Dr Steven Masood who is a Christian from a sectarian Muslim
background. He became a follower of Jesus in April 1973 in Karachi, Pakistan.
He presented his testimony. For more information you can go to this link. http://www.jesustomuslims.org/content/about-dr-steven-masood
Sunday school lesson was about forgiveness and Charlie did and excellent job of
presenting how we need to forgive and put it behind us. After Sunday school was
our Linger Longer which is a time for our Sunday school class to have a potluck
lunch and spend some time together. On the way home we stopped by Mel and Jan’s.
They were sitting outside so we pulled up a chair and visited with them for a
while. It was around 3:30 pm when we finally got home. Cheri was busy with her
I-Pad and I watched the NASCAR race that I had recorded.

This morning I asked Cheri
what she was going to do today and she said that she didn’t know and she asked
me what I was going to do and I said I didn’t know, not the best way to start
the day. It wasn’t long and Cheri told me she was going to Lakeland shopping
for some new shoes for Darren and Brooke’s wedding next month. I decided to go
for a short motorcycle and see how I would make out with my foot. Being it was
going to be a short ride I didn’t put on any suntan lotion. I left at 10:00 am
and was having fun looking for roads that I haven’t been on before. It was such
a beautiful day I really didn’t want go back home. On the way home I did stop
to see how Mel and Jan were doing. Long story short, my short ride turned into
a 120 mile ride and didn’t get home until after 2:00 pm. Remember I didn’t need
any suntan lotion because it was going to be a short ride well I did get sunburn
on my arms. Cheri got home around 2:30 pm and was happy that she found shoes
she wanted and also did some grocery shopping. She bought some corn on the cob
for supper along with our left over Swiss steak. We watched Dancing with the
Stars this evening. They sure know how to milk the show. We also watched the
NASCAR race.

I had a 7:10 am lab
appointment this morning. I had an appointment yesterday at 2:30 pm and when I went
for it I was told that they can only do labs in the morning. The appointment had
been made by a doctor in Tampa and probably didn’t know about just morning labs
here in Zephyrhills. I finished building and adjusting the sewing table so it
is now ready for paint. Now I have to get myself in the right frame of mind as
I have mentioned in the past that I don’t like to paint. Cheri and I both had
our work done for the day by noon. After lunch we just relaxed and took it easy
until 2:45 pm when Ron and Sandy got here. The four of us were on way to
Orlando to meet Mike and Pam as they have a week at their time share. We met
them at the Bahama Breeze. It is the same place that Mike, Pam, Cheri, and I
met Ron and Sandy when they were staying at their time share. I really like
going there to eat, I was so happy with what I had last time we were there that
I had the same thing again. After we eat we all went back to Mike and Pam’s
time share to visit a while. Oh I forgot to mention that on the way over we got
into stop and go traffic when we got on I-4. I could see flashing lights ahead
and figured there had been an accident. When we got to the spot we saw that
someone had hit a bear, something you don’t see very often in Florida. On the
way home we were in traffic back up on I-4 and came up on a bad accident and
then again another accident on highway 98. It was good to get home safely.

It was another hot humid
day with the temp up to 92 degrees, makes it hard to work outside in the sun.
Cheri did laundry today along with some late spring cleaning. She went through
her closet and cleaned everything out and I now see a pile of clothes that will
go to Goodwill. Now I am sure she will want to go shopping to replace what she
is taking to Goodwill. I continued working on the sewing table this morning. I
had changed my mind on how I was going to hold the sewing machine insert in the
table. I still have to modify the sewing machine supports that make the sewing
machine level with the table, and then the table will be ready for paint. This
afternoon I took Grandma for her B-12 shot and to the bank. After I dropped her
off I took back the things I bought at Home Depot yesterday. I did buy some
different support brackets for the sewing machine (the ones I have to modify).
It was near 4:00 pm when I got home and Cheri was already done for the day. Cheri
had some Swiss steak cooking in the crock pot. Love it when she cooks something
in the crock pot because it makes for such a wonderful aroma throughout the
house. It was very good and I think there is enough left for another meal.

I knew it was going to be
a hot humid day and didn’t feel like working outside. Plus I had a few other
things I wanted to get done, so late morning Cheri and I headed out. Our first
stop was Home Depot, looking for some brackets to hold the sewing machine
template in place. I did find something that will work but still on sure if it is
what I want to use, keep changing my mind on how it should be done. Our next
stop was Bight House, been thinking about changing our TV provider. We have had
Direct TV for over ten years and it is getting very pricey so wanted to see
what Bright House had to offer. We could save some money but they don’t have
the equipment that we are use to, with their whole house DVR you can only record
two shows at a time, so we will wait and see if they upgrade to what we have
now. Our next stop was the huge Wal-Mart in Wesley Chapel. We looked at the
flowers they had and found some that I think I might buy later this month.
Cheri picked up a few things she needed for the house. We eat lunch at the
Subway in Wal-Mart, been a long time since we have had a Subway sub. Our next
stop was the theater to see the movie Little Boy. It started a little slow but
came to gather to be a very good movie. Cheri had tears at the end of the movie
and I even got a little choked up which never happens. It was a good movie and
I would recommend going to see it. After the movie we stopped at Sam’s Club.
Cheri wanted to get some snack bars and I wanted to get some ready cooked Pork
baby back ribs. I have been thinking about the ribs for several days because
they are the best. Well I left disappointed as they didn’t have any. This
evening we had another hard summer rain that lasted maybe twenty minutes, just
enough so I don’t have to water the flowers tomorrow.

We were both slow getting
around today. We just took our time to enjoy our morning coffee along with
breakfast and the morning paper. We didn’t have any place we had to be today.
So it was almost 10:00 am before I was ready to get any work done. Cheri was
already busy with her Tuesday house work while I was taking my shower. I think
Cheri has her sewing room done the way she wants it as she was busy today
making a 4th of July wreath for our front door, looks nice. I worked
on the sewing table until 4:00 pm. I still have a couple of minor things to do
and it will be ready for paint. I need to go to Lowe’s to get some clips to
hold in the sewing machine template in place. This evening we watched the
Dancing with the Stars results show. It was tough to see one of the couples
leave. I think Cheri was a little disappointed with the results.

We both got up this
morning feeling rested and ready to face a new day. I did something this
morning that I haven’t done for a couple of months, I got back on the exercise
bike. I hadn’t been able to do any because of my foot; things went well and
have no excuse for not doing my exercise. I also have put on a few pounds that
I need to get rid of, too much eating out. Cheri was busy all day working in
the sewing room. She has cleaned out all of her cabinets and rearranged
everything to see what she really has. After moving things around I wonder if
she will know where to find what she wants for a new project. I worked on the
sewing table this forenoon, got the piece that goes in the top of the table cut
and sanded. I still have to do a little more sanding on it as it fits too
tight. This afternoon Cheri and I went over to Grandma’s as I need to do the bug
and roach spraying inside and outside along with putting some roach bait out. Then
we went to Dade City to get the motorcycle license renewed along with the
renewal plate for Grandma’s trailer. It was 2:30 pm when we got home. The temp
was up to 92 degrees and I didn’t feel like working outside any more today. So watched
the NASCAR race that I rerecorded because of the rain delay I missed the last
half of the race. This evening was spent watching Dancing with the Stars, a lot
of good dancing and is going to be tough to see someone leave. Cheri hasn’t
told me who she thinks will be going home.

Happy Mother’s Day to all
the wonderful mothers, it takes a very special lady to be a mother and I am
very lucky to have two of the best, my mother and my wife. We do take them for
granted much of the time so today I hope and pray you took time to tell your
mother how much you love her. Sundays are pretty much the same each Sunday, we
picked up Grandma and took her to church with us and after church and Sunday
school we went to eat at ABC Pizza. Mike and Pam were there with their grand children,
just too busy and noisy to visit. After we dropped Grandma off we headed home
to change clothes and then we went to see Mel and Jan. Wanted to make sure Jan
got Mel home ok and to see if they needed anything. We sat outside and visited
for a while. Cheri got calls from each one of the kids wishing her a happy
mother’s day. I settled in to watch the NASCAR race that I had recorded the
night before. So wouldn’t you know there was a rain delay and I only had half
of the race. I checked and fond that it will be on again in a couple of day so
I have recorded it again.

It was five years ago
today that Grandpa (Dad) passed away, took some time to think about some of the
good times we had together. We went to see Mel this morning and he is excited
because Jan is coming home today from her trip north to get their home ready for
sale. Plus tomorrow he gets to go home. When we got back home I wasn’t sure
what I was going to do when Cheri got a call from Pam wanting us to go out for
lunch at Pancho’s Villa in San Antonio. We have never been there before. We
each took our own cars as we needed to get back home and Mike and Pam were
going to get their grand kids and have them for the night. We had a very good
lunch which was 100 percent better than our dinner last night plus a whole lot
cheaper. We will be going there again. When we got home Cheri had some paper
work to get done for Jan from Mel’s doctor appointment yesterday. I spent time
in Bible study and the Sunday school lesson. I also had time for a short nap.
We left at 3:00 pm to pick up Jan at the Tampa airport. Her plane arrived at
4:25 pm. It was near 6:00 pm when we arrived back in Zephyrhills at the rehab
center. We didn’t stay long because Mel and Jan had a lot to talk about.

Cheri and I both had a bad
night. Around 2:30 am I headed to the recliner for the rest of the night. Cheri
got up at 5:30 am and said that she could sleep after I left. So we were
dressed and ready to face the day early. We went to see Mel at 9:00 am. We
stopped and got him a cup of McDonald’s coffee. He was sitting outside has it
was another very nice day. When we got home it was time for lunch and then I
went out and washed Mel and Jan’s car to get the love bugs off. Cheri finished
her Friday house work and continued cleaning and rearranging the sewing room.
After I got the car washed I sat down to do some Bible study which didn’t last
long because I couldn’t stay awake, ended up taking a nap. Later Cheri joined
me and tried to take a short nap before we had to take Mel for his doctor
appointment this afternoon. The appointment was for 3:15 pm. It was 4:30 pm
before we got to see the doctor, always a long wait when seeing Dr. Tun. It is
same long wait when we take Grandma to see him. We took Mel out for supper at
Ruby Tuesday’s. It has been a couple of years since we have been there. As I remember
we weren’t happy with our meal back then. Well nothing changed as Cheri and I
both had to send our meal back as they were both burnt and just by looking at
them the waitress shouldn’t have even brought them to us. We talked to the
manager and he made sure that what we got was ok. It was after 7:00 pm when we finally got Mel
back to the rehab. It was a long day and we were ready for bed early this
evening.

Cheri had an appointment
this morning at 9:00 am so I dropped her off and headed to Lowe’s to get the
material I need to make the sewing table insert the fits around the sewing
machine. Then I went to Larry and Denise’s to check their house and pick up their
mail. Then it was back to pick up Cheri, only had to wait about 20 minutes.
From there we headed to the rehab center to see Mel. We visited until it was
time for his lunch. Then home so we could have lunch. After lunch we called
Larry and Denise, first time we have talked to them since they left, needed to
talk to them about some of the mail. This afternoon Cheri continued rearranging
her sewing room and also had a hair appointment. I worked outside on cleaning
the house rain gutters. It is something that should have been done many weeks
ago but with my foot being what it was I couldn’t do it so today was the day; I
got three big garbage bags of leaves and trash. After Cheri got home we went
back to see Mel and they were fitting him with his new rolling walker. We
waited while he did some physical therapy and then back to his room to visit
until it was supper time. I knew Cheri wouldn’t feel like cooking this evening
so I took her to a new place called Smokehouse BBQ. It has been open about six
months and have wanted to try it. Well I don’t think it will last as we were very
disappointed. It was 7:00 pm when we got home to settle in for some TV and
later an ice cream cone.

On the way to see Mel we
stopped and got him a cup of McDonald’s coffee, he thinks that it is a treat to
have McDonald’s coffee. Once again we found him sitting outside, likes to spend
most of his time there. In fact the nurses know where to find him when he isn’t
in his room. Now that Cheri has her quilt hanging done she decided it was time
to give her sewing room a good cleaning, even took everything out of the
cabinets to see what she really has and to get everything rearranged. I spent
the day working on Cheri’s new sewing table. I got all the sanding done and
worked on a template to fit around the sewing machine. Around 4:00 pm we headed
back to the rehab center to check on Mel, he was sitting outside. We visited
until it was time for his supper. I also went over to Mike and Kathy’s as Mike
had a list of things he wants me to do this fall before they return for the
winter. They are leaving Saturday to head north. This evening we got a really
hard rain and the wind blew really hard. When we looked out the rain was coming
down sideways and we also got some hail. But within 30 minutes it was over and
the sun was out. I checked the rain gauge and figured we most of got at least
an inch but was surprise that it was a little less than half of an inch.

We were up at 5:00 am to
get ready as we had to meet Jan at 7:00 am at the rehab center. We left a
little past 7:00 am to take her to the airport in Tampa, not the best time to
be on the road has it was during the rush hour. Normally the trip to the
airport takes about 50 minutes but with all the traffic it took an hour and
twenty minutes. The traffic wasn’t quite as bad going back out of Tampa. We stopped
at Bob Evan’s for breakfast which was excellent. On the way back to the rehab
center we stopped at McDonald’s to get Mel a cup of coffee, he thinks
McDonald’s has the best coffee. We found Mel sitting outside; we visited a
while and told him about our trip to the airport with Jan. This afternoon Cheri
took Grandma to Wal-Mart so she could get her haircut. When she got back home
she was busy doing her Tuesday house work which she usually gets done in the
morning. I started to do some more lawn
raking but it was too windy, blowing the leaves all over. So I worked on
sanding the sewing table that I am making for Cheri. The sanding turned out to
be a bigger job than I thought it would be, only about a third done. Around
4:00 pm we went back to the Rehab center to check on Mel and said that he had a
good day at physical therapy. This evening Mike and Kathy came over to visit
and play Phase Ten. After they left Cheri had to watch Dancing with the Stars
to see who was going to get voted off and once again Cheri was right on the
ones who were voted off.

It was a busy day. We left
at 9:00 am to go to Tampa for my 10:00 am doctor’s appointment for my foot. We
got in early for my appointment, doctor said that I was three week ahead of
normal schedule and that I didn’t need to go back again. She said that my foot
would tell me how much I can do. So on the way home we stopped at Home Depot to
check on flowers and I did buy some for the plant pots in rock garden behind
the house. From Home Depot we stopped at the rehab center to see Mel. We found
him sitting outside as the weather was perfect again with low humidity. He is
now out of the wheel chair using a walker. We can see improvement each day. Jan
came a while later and talked about what we have to do for Mel while she is
gone up north. We do have to take him for his heart doctor appointment on
Friday. It was around 12:30 pm when we got home for lunch. This afternoon I
planted the flowers and Cheri worked on her quilt hanging. I also went over to
Grandma’s this afternoon because the spray guy was to come between 2:00 pm and
4:00 pm. So while I was waiting I washed the car and got the love bugs off. I
also took Grandma’s garbage up to the dumpster, clean the air conditioner
filter, emptied her vacuum cleaner and washed it out. I waited until 4:30 pm
and the spray guy never showed and never got a call from him. Time to call him
tell him I don’t need his service any longer as I will find someone who cares
about their work. When I got home Cheri has her wall hanging done and ready for
me to hang it. I will post pictures of it after I get it hung on the wall.

We were blessed with
another perfect day of low 80’s and low humidity. We picked up Grandma and took
her to church with us. Pastor Randy had an excellent message on Obedience,
Demonstrating God’s Glory John 11:1-44. Sunday school was a continuation of
Pastor Randy’s message on obedience. Our class leader Charlie brought out many
interesting points. After Sunday school we went to ABC Pizza for lunch. Grandma
gave us a list of groceries she needed. So after we dropped her off we went and
got her groceries. After dropping off her groceries we headed to the rehab
center to see Mel. We visited for a while and then Jan came. It was 4:30 pm
before we got home today. We were both done for the day. I watched the NASCAR
race that I had recorded and Cheri took a nap. We had pizza for supper and then
later an ice cream cone. We got to see a beautiful sunset this evening, hope
that is an indication of another perfect day tomorrow. We watched a couple of
TV shows we had recorded and called it a night.

Cheri was already up setting
in her recliner when I got up. She had a bad night so she went back to bed for
a while. We took our time getting around this morning. At 10:00 am we headed
over to see Mel. We found him setting out side. It was another beautiful day of
low 80’s and no humidity. We visited until around 11:30 am and then headed back
home. Cheri called Jan to see if she was home as Mel wanted us to put their bicycles
in the shed. While we were there I also took the roof rack off their car. They
had bought a new car and had a roof rack installed so they could bring things back
from their northern home. But because of Mel’s heath he will not be going
north, so they didn’t need the roof rack on the car. It was near 1:30 pm before
we got back home for a late lunch. Cheri worked on her quilted wall hanging and
I did a little computer work and then sat down to watch the NASCAR race. It was
a good thing I was recording it because I fell asleep. Cheri woke me up at 3:00
pm and said it was time for us to head to Dade City for the car show. We had a
good time checking out all the old cars and dreaming about which ones we would
like to have. Cheri wanted to stop and get an ice cream cone and I said it
would be better and cheaper to get the ice cream at the grocery store. So that’s
what we did on the way home. Cheri also bought cones so we could have an ice
cream cone this evening. When we got home I continued to watch the rest of the
NASCAR race and Cheri took a nap. After supper we settled in for an evening of
TV.

It is hard to believe it
is May already, not sure where April went, oh that right I was just sitting
around for a month not able to do anything. Cheri was at it early this morning
doing the rest of her Friday house work that she didn’t get done yesterday. I
did some computer work and stayed out of her way. We left here at 10:40 am to
go the rehab center to pick up Mel and Jan to take Mel to Tampa for his monthly
cancer doctor appointment. He had three appointments the first was at noon and
the last one at 2:00 pm but didn’t get in for the last on until 3:00 pm. So it
was a long day of waiting. None of us had any lunch so we were pretty hungry
when we got out of there. On the way home we stopped at Bob Evan’s for dinner. We
had taken Mel and Jan’s car because it was easier for Mel to get into their
car. Well when we got ready to leave Bob Evan’s I couldn’t get the car doors
unlocked, after many attempts I finally realized that our car puck was going to
unlock their car. Just goes to show old people can make their own entertainment,
had a good laugh. It was after 5:30 pm when we got Mel back to the rehab center
and settled in his room. Cheri had a grocery list of things she needed so we
headed over to Wal-Mart, nice shopping there now that the snow birds are gone.
It was almost 7:30 pm by the time we got home and things put away.

What a beautiful day it was,
temp in the low 80’s with a light breeze and low humidity, a perfect day to
spend with friends. Cheri and I didn’t have a very good night of sleep, both
awake early and trouble getting back to sleep. We went to see Mel this morning
and he was up and sitting in the hall waiting for us to come. He said that they
work him pretty hard in physical therapy. We didn’t get to see Jan today as we
left before she got there. Cheri was busy doing her Thursday and Friday house
work and laundry because we were going to be busy this afternoon and most of
the day tomorrow. I went out to the shop and did some more puttying on the
sewing table. After lunch Mike and Pam picked us up to go shopping in Lakeland
and then to Orlando to meet Ron and Sandy for dinner at Bahama Breeze. It was
the first time Cheri and I have been there. We sat outside and a perfect day
for it. We all order an appetizer for our dinner which was half price. (Seniors
know how to get the most for their money). We had plenty to eat and was very
good. It has been a while since the six of us have gotten together and was a
fun time with a lot of laughs. We arrived home a little past 7:00 pm, both
tired from our day. We watched a little TV and called it a night early because
of not having a good night sleep last night.
