Gay May-26-15

I went out really early
this morning to do some raking in the lawn before it got too hot. I didn’t last
too long but did get three bags of leaves and twigs ready for the trash pickup.
I also cut the sprouts out of our neighbors palm trees. Pam called this morning
and wanted to know what we were doing today. She said that she and Mike wanted
to do something but didn’t know what. Long story short we decided to take them
on a road trip like what we did yesterday. We planned to leave at 1:00 pm. So
this morning Cheri and I made a trip to Lowe’s to get the materials for my next
project. Cheri wants me to make a mantel to put on the wall in the spare
bedroom. Cheri picked out the lumber design she wanted and now I am ready to
work on it. We also stopped to have haircuts but the lady that cuts our hair
was late from her doctor’s appointment and we didn’t have time to wait. We
picked up Mike and Pam and headed out on our road trip. We went over many of
the roads we were on yesterday. We also stopped at the National Cemetery as
Mike and Pam had never been there before and was a good place to stretch our
legs. Our next stop was the now closed for good Sleepy Hollow biker bar where
we used to make a bike ride a few times each year for their steak dinner, the end of another era. Our next stop was at
an Italian restaurant called Papa Joe’s. None of us have been there before so
weren’t sure what it was going to be like. Well it turned out to be one of the
best Italian restaurants we have been to. 120 mile later we were back home at
6:30 pm and was a fun afternoon with friends. This evening we got a much needed
rain that lasted about 45 minutes. Don’t know how much we got as my rain gauge
is off the fence but I would guess we got at least ¾ of an inch.
