Happy Memorial Day, I pray that you honored a veteran today and thanked them for their service. A friend called me and thanked me for my service, make me feel proud. Not much going on here today. My day did start very early as I was up at 1:30 am to go and pick up Dan and take him to the airport for his 5:00 am flight. I was back home by 3:30 am and went back to bed but had trouble getting back to sleep. Cheri worked on painting the barn quilt that will go up in the peak of the house to replace the old one. I did watch the rest of the NASCAR race and was happy with the ending. We are heading into summer as the temp is to be at 90 degrees every day this week plus high humidity, makes it hard to do any outside work. We a got a call from Ron and Sandy this afternoon inviting us over late this afternoon for burgers on the grill. We had a good visit and a lot of laughs.

Grandma went to church with us today. I had e-mailed her to let her know that there was going to be a guest speaker and there wouldn’t be any message notes. She missed church last Sunday as we were out of town and said that she wanted to go. She did have notes for Sunday school. Just as we were pulling into our park we got a call from Jan Rogers telling us we forgot our Bibles in Sunday school. So one day this week we will have to go back and get them. Later this afternoon Jan and Dan came over as Dan wanted to see the flooring we put down. He has just bought a house and is going to put in new flooring and want to see what it looked like being laid on a diagonal and want to know where we got it. After checking it out he thought that he would do the same thing. The rest of the afternoon was spent watching the Indy 500. We also watched a couple of movies we had recorded and then this evening watching the NASCAR race. I couldn’t stay awake to watch the end so that will be on my list for tomorrow.

It was a busy morning. We left at 9:15 am with our first stop at Publix’s to pick up the dinner rolls we ordered yesterday. Then on to the church to help set things up for the lunch after Mel’s Celebration of Life. There were so many people that came early to help that in no time everything was ready and still had time to visit before the service started. It was a wonderful celebration that Mel would have been proud of. Mel’s daughter, son, and son in law all spoke and told some wonderful stories about Mel. Then it was time for me to tell a few things about Mel. It was very hard for me to get through what I wanted to say but with God’s help I made it. There were two more of Mel’s friends that spoke before Pastor Randy presented his message. After the service we all gathered to have lunch and more visiting. There were so many to help with the cleanup that it didn’t take very long. We were back home a little after 2:00 pm. Cheri and I decide we had done enough for the day and was time to relax. We both ended up take a long nap.

Cheri was busy first thing this morning doing laundry and ironing. She also started the crockpot with a beef roast with all kinds of seasonings. She said that it was a new recipe. We left at 10:00 am and headed for the airport to pick up Sherry (Jan’s daughter). She is here for a week to be with Jan and for Mel’s Celebration of Life. We dropped her off at the motel where she was meeting her daughter and grand children who are driving in from Maryland. Last Oct when we got our flue hots we also got the new pneumonia shot and was told that we needed a booster shot in six months. So we went to Walgreen’s to see about getting the booster shot. Well yes you are supposed to have the booster shot in six months but the insurance says you have to wait a year to get it paid for. So I guess we will wait until Oct to have it done. Cheri did get a whopping cough shot which we have to have when we see our new grandson. I will get mine later at the VA. We also check Larry and Denise’s house and a stop at Publix’s to order three dozen rolls for the lunch tomorrow after Mel’s Celebration of Life. It was 3:00 pm when we finally got home and hadn’t had any lunch so we had an early supper. Cheri fixed philly cheese steak sandwiches along with corn on the cob and watermelon. After we eat we went over to Lowe’s to get a sample of paint that Cheri thinks she wants on the walls of the main bathroom. So when we got home she put some on the walls and said that it was the color she wants.

Last week Jan had asked me if I would speak at Mel’s celebration of Life this Saturday. I told her it would be an honor to tell people how Mel had affected our lives. So this morning I sat down at the computer. It is very hard for me to put my thoughts into words. I have been praying for help and today was the day to get it written down. I was surprised how easy the words came to me, thank you God for your help. Around 11:00 am I went outside to work and decided I would clean out the shed and put the power washer away. Well I closed the shed door and the door to the shop and decided I wasn’t in the mood to do that today. Cheri did laundry and finished the baby quilt she has been working on. It looks nice and I will post a picture of it. This afternoon I did some computer searching on some project that I would like to do some time in the future. Cheri and I spent the rest of the afternoon resting and napping in our recliners. We left at 4:30 pm to pick up Jan and go to the airport to pick up her son Dan who lives in Wyoming. He is here for Mel’s Celebration of Life. His flight came in at 6:30 pm. On the way home we stopped at Bob Evan’s for supper. It was 9:00 pm when we finally got home. We watched a little TV and called it a night.

When Cheri got up this morning I went in and said I have been talking and wanted to know if she wanted to go out for breakfast. The first words out of her mouth was who have you been talking to? I said I guess it most have been me. She said yes to going out for breakfast so after we had our coffee we headed to the Sunrise Restaurant where we split a breakfast because they are really big and we both left full. From there we headed south to the Mexican Flea Market to see if I could find the fan light kit. No luck on the fan light but did see a lot of interesting things that would have been nice to have. On our way back we run the car though the car wash and then to Wal-Mart to get groceries. We bought a watermelon and some corn on the cob. It was around 1:00 pm when we arrived home. Neither of us felt like doing anything this afternoon. I grilled a couple of hamburgers for supper which Cheri fixed the corn and watermelon. Cheri never did get to the sewing room today to finish the baby blanket. Early this morning while Cheri was getting dressed I did go over to the neighbors and trimmed the palm trees.

It was another good day in the Sharps house. I headed out to finish power washing the house. It was a big job today as there was a lot of things that had to be moved before I could start. It was a long day didn’t even stop for lunch because I know if I had stopped I would have had a hard time getting back to it. I also got the bike barn washed. It was almost 3:00 pm when I finished and was ready for a hot shower. Cheri did house work this morning and worked on the baby blanket quilt. I think she has one more days work on it and it will be done. I had a really hard time staying wake this evening to watch Dancing with the Stars with Cheri. I was very unhappy to see Nyle DiMarco win. He did do an excellent job of acting because he is deaf. So in my mind if a person can’t hear the music it can’t be dancing. Cheri wanted to see Ginger Zee win and I wanted Paige VanZant win.

When I got up this morning I only had one thing planned for the day. That was to go over to the neighbors and do the weeding and cut the sprouts in the palm trees. Well the sprouts weren’t ready to be cut out but I did get the weeding done and sprayed for some in the sidewalk joints. The air was pretty dry for Florida and thought I better get the power washer out and work on the house. I got the back side done. Now all that is left is the front side. This afternoon I worked on cutting a new piece of lumber to make a new barn block quilt. I also got it primed and the layout done so now it's ready for Cheri to do the painting. Cheri spent most of her day in the sewing room and has her lasted project just about done. All that is left to do is the binding of the baby blanket she is making. Cheri fixed some my favorite potatoes for supper (sliced with onions, seasonings, and cooked in butter). I fired up the grill and grilled a steak for us. So it was a good day in the Sharp house and got way more done than we expected too. Thank you God for another great day.

I got up at my usual 6:00 am and found that Bill was already up watching fox news. So I sat and watched some new with him before doing the blog. Cheri was up early as she said that she didn’t have good night. Bill left for church early as he is a choir member. Lynda, Cheri, and I left at 9:15 am in the golf cart. I must say it is the first time we have gone to church in a golf cart. We enjoyed church and the pastor had a very interesting message. After church everyone enjoyed coffee, juice, and snacks in the fellowship hall. Bill and Lynda introduced us to many of their friends. Then it was time to head back to Bill and Lynda’s for more visiting and lunch. Soon it was time for us to say good bye and head for home. We left at 3:00 pm and arrived home at 5:00 pm. We had a wonderful time with Bill and Lynda and hope to see them again next year.

We left the house at 8:40 am heading to Titusville which is 108 miles away according to the GPS. We are visiting Bill and Lynda Shaw. We met them back in 2008 as we were on the same RV caravan to Alaska. Things didn’t work out for us to get together last year. So it was good to see them and their new home. After visiting and having lunch they took us on their golf card to tour the park and show us some of the other people’s homes that was also on the Alaskan tour and had gone back north for the summer. This evening they took us to Cape Canaveral to have dinner at Rusty's Seafood and Oyster Bar. Then it was back to Bill and Lynda’s for more visiting and a game of dominos which Cheri and Lynda won. We finally called it a night at 11:00 pm. It was a fun day to spend with old friends and get caught up on what has been going on for the past couple of years.

Cheri did laundry this morning and then went to work in her sewing room. I finished installing the baseboard in the kitchen. So the kitchen is officially done, well except for some roll out shelves and a roll out pantry I want to build but that is done the road a ways. I thought I was going to get done before the rain came but it wasn’t to be. I had to move the saws under the carport to finish, only need another fifteen minutes and I would have been done. We skipped lunch today because Cheri fixed us blueberry pancakes for breakfast. Later this afternoon we went over to Lowe’s to look at fan light kits, still looking for one that takes the large base bulbs. We talked to an employee that worked in the fan department and found out that due to our government they no longer make light kit with the large base. I guess they quit around 2005 because people were using too high of a wattage bulbs, thank you Uncle Sam for protecting us from the idiots who can’t read. So I will be checking yard sales and second hand stores to see if I can find a used one.  We also checked out new vanities for the guest bathroom and after checking the prices we may be painting the one we have and installing a new top and sink. We met Ron and Sandy at the Eagles to have a Friday night fish fry. After the fish fry we all went over to McDonalds to have a hot fudge sundae and more visiting.

We didn’t have to be anywhere today so we took our time getting around. Cheri fixed us a breakfast of scrambled eggs with sausage and toast along with the coffee I had made when I got up. Cheri did laundry and worked in her sewing room. I went back to work in the bathroom. I got the rest of the baseboard done and the toilet back in place. I was done around 1:00 pm and was ready for a shower. After lunch I dropped Cheri off at Beall’s to shop and then she was going to walk over to Hobby Lobby where I was to pick her up after my trip to Home Depot. They had a special deal on batteries for my drill and saved forty dollars. I have been looking at the battery powered skill saw and saws all so now I have the batteries for them. I was going to buy the saws all today but decided to wait and see if they have a father’s day special on it. After I picked up Cheri we made a trip to Dade City to stop at the Re-Store to see if they had a used fan light kit which I would use to convert the fan light in Cheri’s sewing room but didn’t have any luck finding one. We stopped by to see how Jan was doing. We had a nice visit with her. It was around 6:30 pm when we got home. It was another hot and humid day with the temp in the high 80’s.

Well it was another day that nothing got done in the bathroom. Last night we got a text from Ron and Sandy wanting to know if we wanted to go on a road trip today. It was good timing because Cheri and I needed to get away for the day and have some fun with Ron and Sandy. They picked us up a little pass 9:00 am and headed to Ollie’s bargain outlet in north Tampa. Cheri and I had never heard of Ollie’s so it was a new experience for us. They have a little bit of everything and most stuff is at a good price. Cheri picked up a few things. It was noon when we got done and went to a Mexican restaurant for lunch that was close by and told that it was very good. Well they weren’t wrong it was excellent, some of the best Mexican we have had in a long time. After lunch we headed home and made a stop at the Pottery Barn for Cheri and Sandy. It was 5:00 pm when we got home. It was a great time with good friends. Cheri said we need to do more road trips with friends. We just had snacks this evening as we were both full from our lunch. Thank you God for good friends and good times.

This morning I went right to work on replacing the bathroom floor. Shortly after noon I took Cheri for her hair appointment and then she wanted to stop at Beall’s for some towels to put in the quest bathroom. I went to Tractor supply while Cheri was in Beall’s. I needed some longer screws for the toilet flange. Our last stop was Wal-Mart to pick up some ice cream and medicine that Grandma wanted. It was after 2:00 pm when we got home. Cheri worked on her latest quilt project. I thought I would get the bathroom done today but around 4:00 pm I ran out of steam. I had decided to put base board in the bathroom and still have a few pieces to do and set the toilet. It rained this afternoon and evening which didn’t help when I was sawing base board. I just checked the rain gauge and we received ¾ inch. It was a much needed rain as it has been very dry even the grass has started to turn brown.

Time to put the toilet back in

Today was a day that I hadn’t planned for. The other day I noticed that the toilet in the master bathroom was leaning to one side. So today was the day to check it out. I took the toilet out and removed the floor under it. It was damp under the flooring that I had put down a couple of years ago. Long story short the toilet flange had come loose and let it leak. So I removed all the old under lament and found the sub floor was dry. I could see where it had been wet at some time but was in good shape. So I headed off to Lowe’s to get the materials I needed to repair the floor. I finally quit at 5:00 pm and was ready for a shower. I do have some flooring left over from when I had put the new floor down. So hopefully I can get that project done tomorrow. Cheri was busy doing spring cleaning and sorting through her clothing closet. This evening we settled in to watch Dancing with the Stars and Cheri was happy with the way the voting went.

We took Grandma to church with us this morning. Pastor Randy’s message was very good and Charlie presented a very good Sunday school lesson. Cheri had made the food for Sunday school and there wasn’t anything left to bring home. We stayed after class and did some additional visiting getting to know more people. It was near 1:30 pm when we got home. Cheri fixed the left over shrimp scampi we had for dinner yesterday and still was very good. This afternoon Cheri settled in with some new magazines she received in the mail plus a nap and I to watch the NASCAR race plus some dozing. It was a very exciting race. Cheri fixed us pizza for supper and the rest of the evening was watching some shows we had recorded. The temp has been in the high 80’s and even had one day that reach 90 degrees.

I knew it was going to be hot today so I was looking for something to do inside that wouldn’t be too much work as I wasn’t in the mood for any big project with a lot of thinking. Cheri was busy baking cupcakes for the Sunday school class tomorrow. She also made a fruit salad to go along with the cupcakes. Cheri also picked out more things to display on the top of the cabinets. I worked on assembling the additional cabinet I got to go above the new refrigerator when we get it. One of the light bulbs burned out in the fan light over our kitchen table. I can’t find a replacement like the others and can’t find any LEDs that have the come in the daylight. So I was thinking I could change the light socket to a larger size and install regular bulbs. So Cheri and took a ride to the Re-Store to see about getting a used light kit that would work on our ceiling fan. We didn’t have any luck there so we headed on to Home Depot and found some replacement sockets now the thing is will they fit. I didn’t want to buy any light bulbs until I could see if the new sockets would fit. When we got home I took the light down and with some modification I was able to get them to work. So after I got it back together I headed over to Lowe’s to get the new light bulbs. The project is done and now have the same type of lighting throughout the kitchen.

OK it is Friday the 13th and there is a full moon this evening plus in our travels today a black cat went across the road in front of us so what could go wrong. As it turned out we had a wonderful day. I knew it was going to be hot today so power washing was out of the question. At breakfast I asked Cheri what she was going to do today and she said that she didn’t know. So I asked her if there was some place she wanted to shop and her eyes lit up and said sure. So we got ready and headed to Lakeland. Our first stop was Tuesday Mornings and found the store temporary closed but the sign didn’t say why. The next stop was Stein Mart for Cheri and I head off to another store that I found was no longer open so I wait in the car for Cheri. The next stop was Belk’s and Kohl’s for Cheri and I went to Lowe’s to look around. It was around 3:00 pm when we arrived home. We skipped lunch today because we were meeting Pam & Mike and Sandy & Ron for dinner at Manolo’s Italian restaurant in Zephyrhills at 4:45 pm to have the early bird specials. We had a good visit at dinner. After dinner Pam and Mike had to leave and go to their daughters place. Ron & Sandy and we went over to McDonald’s for an ice cream sundae and to visit. We got home around 7:30 pm and settled in for an evening of TV.

I felt pretty good this morning when I got up maybe it was because I didn’t plan on doing much today. Cheri started her laundry early before we left for her eye appointment. We left at 8:45 am as I heard that there was an accident on HWY 50 west of Brooksville and that is where we were going. Not knowing exactly where the accident was we took several back roads to go as far as we could before we had to get on HWY 50. Well we didn’t make it and ended up in the middle of the detour. Cheri’s appointment was for 10:10 am and I dropped her off at the door at 10:05 am and then went to park the car. Then when I got to the clinic I and another lady were waiting for the elevator which didn’t come and pretty soon there were more people that where going to get on. So I gave up on waiting and took the stairs which was a work out because I had to go to the fourth floor. Cheri was still waiting for the doctor when I got there and she said that she had to wait for the elevator and found out that only one was working. Cheri got another good report on her eye and doesn’t have to go back for two months. When we came out of the office we got right on the elevator which stopped at every floor going down and at some of the floors no one was waiting I guess that got tired of waiting and took the stairs. I stopped at a Beall’s outlet so Cheri could do some shopping and then into Brooksville to eat at a new restaurant that I heard about and was told it was very good. It was after noon when we got there and they serve breakfast all day so that what Cheri and I had. Well it turned out to be the worst breakfast we have had. We made a stop in Dade City at the Re-store to check it out. They had many nice things but nothing we needed. It was near 2:30 pm when we arrived home. I decided it was too late to start anything today so I headed to the recliner and Cheri joined me after she got her laundry done. The rest of the day was spent napping and watching TV.

I got up this morning really tight in the neck and shoulders so decided not to do any power washing today. Well after having my quite time with God he told me that he would provide me with a partly sunny day to power wash the front of the house and wouldn’t be so hot. So after doing my compute work I went out and got the front of the house power washed. I was done before noon and was pretty tired and ready for a shower. I had trouble with my online banking this morning. I was doing the transfer of funds for the house loan and it wouldn’t give me a conformation so I tried again and still no conformation. So I did an e-mail to the bank and got back a response that they were having problems. Well this afternoon I decided I better see if they got thing fixed so I could do the transfer. Well they indeed got it done and it showed that I done two transfers. So when we went out today we made a stop at the bank to get things strengthen out. Also to Lowe’s to get a replacement LED bulb for the kitchen. We have six of them in the bath room which were put in about two years ago and already have replaced two of them. Now the ones in the kitchen are about six month old and need to replace one of them. The big deal is they are supposed to last longer and use less energy. Well I am here to tell you that I have paid more for them and with the replacement cost it would have been cheaper all the way around with just regular bulbs. Cheri said this afternoon that she was going to display the antiques on the cabinets in the office area. When she said she was doing antiques I had to check and see if she put up a picture of me. I guess she found some things older than me. We had leftovers for supper and then settled in for an evening of TV, just about caught up on all the shows we recorded.

Cheri fixed eggs, hash browns, bacon, orange juice, and English muffins for breakfast, all very good and better than any restaurant. Cheri is really good about taking care of me. After breakfast Cheri worked on house cleaning and finished cleaning kitchen cabinet. I went out and did some more power washing. I got the back of the house, shed, and most of the shop done. It was 1:30 pm when I quit, wasn’t able to do anymore the old body just gave out. I came in and was ready for a shower as I was really wet and dirty. So lunch was late as I needed to get cleaned up first. I had gotten a call from Mike that there was something wrong with his security system and wanted me to go over and do a reset on it. Later he called me and said the rest didn’t work and was going to call Bright House. Well he called me back later and told me that when they put him on vacation rate the security system wouldn’t work. So I guess they made a change and everything is now working. Later this afternoon Cheri baked an apple crisp and lasagna for supper. It was another evening trying to stay awake to watch TV, finally gave up and went to bed.

Today would have been my dad’s 96th birthday. I do miss the good times we had together. I learned how to do a lot of things from him.

I left to go and get my haircut this morning. The lady that cuts my hair wasn’t there today and Cheri had called for me last week and she was going to be there. Well I had my hair cut by Nate and I hope he continues to be there because I got a very good haircut. When I got home Cheri was busy cleaning kitchen cabinets and I went out and worked once again on the power washer and finally got it fixed. So after lunch I did some power washing. I got the front awning done and over half of the driveway done. I quit at 3:30 pm as I was too hot and tired to do any more. When I came in Cheri was busy going through some old pictures of Darren to send to Brooke. This afternoon we got some bad news. Joyce Resop called and told us that her husband Clay passed away yesterday. Back in the day we used to ride motorcycles together and also did some camping with them. We settled in this evening to watch Dancing with the Stars. Cheri did pick who was going home. It is getting harder to pick as the ones that are left are all good dancers.

Happy Mother’s Day. You realize none of us would be here if it wasn’t for our mothers. Please take out your Bible and read Proverbs 31:10-31. This is what Pastor Randy’s message was about today. Grandma went to church with us and we also picked up Jan and took her. After church and Sunday school the four of us headed back to Zephyrhills to have lunch at the Chowder House. We had reservations for 1:00 pm. So we got right in and had a very good lunch. It was after 2:30 pm when we finally arrived home. Cheri settled in with her I-pad and magazine’s along with me to watch the rest of the NASCAR race that I had recorded. Cheri end up taking a long nap and I also napped while trying to watch the race. After having a big lunch we settled for an English muffin with peanut butter for our supper along with a snack later. Cheri did get phone calls from all the kids today to wish her a happy Mother’s Day.

It was a very cool morning but warm up fast to 80 degrees plus very little humidity. I felt lazy today and didn’t plan on doing much of anything. Finally I decided I needed to go over to the neighbor’s and see what I needed to fix her toilet. Just before we left to go to Darren and Brooke’s she told me that she had a leak in her toilet. So after checking I headed to Lowe’s to get the parts I needed. Just as I was leaving Lowe’s and Cheri called me and said that Mike and Pam wanted to meet us at the Village Inn for lunch at 11:30 am. So shortly after I got back we headed to the Village Inn. It has been almost three week since we have last seen them. It was good to get together for lunch and a visit. After lunch we headed home and Cheri said that she had some ironing and house work to do and I went back over to Jean’s to fix her toilet. I also fixed her door that was sticking and dragging when it was opened and closed. After I was done with Jean I checked Mike and Kathy’s place as they left for the summer and wanted to make sure everything was done. Later this afternoon Cheri and I settled in for a nap and TV. Around 3:00 pm we headed to Dade City for the car show which is held the first Saturday of the month. It has been a long time since we have been to one. It is always fun to look at the cars and pick out something we would like to have. On the way home we stopped by Wal-Mart to pick up Grandma’s medicine. Because we had a large lunch today Cheri fixed us a grilled ham and cheese sandwich for supper.

Cheri and I tried to do a good thing today for Grandma. Her phone for the deaf is very old and there is a new one that would work really well for her. So I made an appointment for 10:00 am this morning. We picked up Grandma at 9:00 am as it is a 45 mile trip to Port Richey. Grandma didn’t seem to be very receptive to the idea of a new phone. Well when we got there the lady we had the appointment with wasn’t the nicest person which didn’t set very well with Cheri and me. Long story short the new phone does the exact same thing as her old phone but has a nice large screen to read the print. Well she doesn’t qualify for a new because she is deaf and not hard of hearing. They could have told us that when I talked to them on the phone yesterday because they had all of her paper work and knew that she was deaf. On the way home Grandma gave us a list of things she needed from Wal-Mart so after dropping Grandma off we went to take care of the things she needed. It was after noon when we got home. Cheri and I were both exhausted from this morning and decided to take the rest of the day off. Cheri read and napped and I watched the rest of the NASCAR race that I had recorded. We got a call from Ron and Sandy wanting to know if we wanted to meet them for supper at a new restaurant here in Zephyrhills call the Coney Island. It is all about the famous Coney Island hotdogs. It is ok if you like hotdogs but Cheri and I weren’t impressed. We did have a nice visit with Ron and Sandy talking about the trips we all took in the last two weeks. When we got home we settled in for an evening of TV. For me it was more napping than TV.

It was a very windy day with the temp topping out around 80 degrees and very low humidity. I took Cheri for her new glasses today. She still seems to have a problem with them but hopefully her eyes will get adjusted to them and everything will be ok. We stopped and checked Larry and Denise’s house. Also went to the bank to make a deposit and then to Wal-Mart to fill the car with gas. It was around 12:30 pm when we got home. After lunch Cheri continued with her house cleaning and laundry. I checked the car tire pressures and did find one tire that was a couple of pounds low. I had to get the car manual out to see how to reset the tire monitor alarm. I also did some computer work and made a phone call to see about getting a new telephone for Grandma. We have an appointment tomorrow for that. Mike and Kathy came over this evening to give us the leftovers from their refrigerator and cupboards as they are leaving Saturday to go north for the summer.

We were up early this morning getting ready to get on the road for home. We sat for a while watching all the birds come in for something to eat. I have never seen so many birds of different species come to the feeder. When I got up I found Mike out in his shop building a bird feeder for mealworms as blue birds really like them. It was tough saying goodbyes as it will be a long time before we get together again. We left at 8:30 am and headed for home. For the most part the trip was uneventful. The low tire warning light did come on after about an hour down the road. So I stopped at a service station and filled with the car with gas and checked the tires but all seems to be ok. We also ran into a hard rain around Gainesville Florida and then had rain on and off the rest of the way home. When we got to Ocala Cheri got an alert on her phone that there was an accident on I-75 south of Ocala so we got off and took 301 home. We made good time and arrived home at 4:10 pm (443 miles). We got more rain this evening and sometimes it rained pretty hard. I just check the rain gauge and we received 1 ¾ inches.

Mike made coffee and breakfast for us this morning. I was up at 6:00 am and he already had the coffee brewing. He fixed us an egg scramble with sausage, potatoes, onions, mushrooms, green peppers, cheese, and some special seasoning. It was really good. After relaxing, visiting and drinking coffee we decided to go into Augusta so Mary and Cheri could go to Jo-Ann fabrics and right next door was Harbor Freight, guess where Mike and I went. Later in the afternoon we went to the Mellow Mushroom to have pizza. Just as we were finishing our pizza a couple came in with two geese on a leash and each one of them had a parrot on their shoulder. I think I have seen everything now. When we left there we went up the street to an antique mall and just before we left here comes the couple with the geese and parrots. We went back to Mike and Mary’s and had a lot of laughs about what we saw and what other people might have said when they saw them. This evening we once again went out for ice cream. So it was another day with lots of laughs with Mike and Mary.

Seeing is believing

Don't know if they got to eat or not as we didn't stay any longer
Thought I should have one too

We were up so we could say good bye to Brooke and Darren before they left for work. Brooke leaves at 6:45 am and Darren only has a couple of miles to go but still has to leave early to get Harper to the doggie day care. We got packed up and was on the road at 9:00 am heading to Akin SC to spend time with friends Mike and Mary who moved from Florida last December. We have missed the fun times and all the laughs we had together. We arrived at their place a little past noon. After a tour of the house and Mike’s wood working shop we headed downtown for some lunch. Then some shopping on the old main street of town. Our shopping didn’t last all that long as it started to rain. So Mike drove us around to see some of the old part of town. The big attraction here is polo horses. There is several Polo fields, horse tracks, and steeple chase tracks. Saw a lot of old large mansions with their stables plus a lot of the streets aren’t paved so they can travel them with their horses. When we got back to Mike and Mary’s they showed all the different things they have done since they moved here, they have been very busy and everything looks so nice. Later Mike and I made a trip to Lowe’s to pick up some mulch to put around some planting boxes he has made for some gardening. We took his 1949 Chevy sedan delivery which he has been working on for many years and just got it on the road a couple of months ago. Around 7:30 pm we went out for ice cream and then back to watch Dancing with the Stars. Mike made some clam dip to have with chips while watching TV. It was another fun day with family and friends.

Happy May Day. We left the house at 8:30 am with Brooke and Darren to meet Brooke’s parents along with four of their fiends for breakfast. With ten people it took a bit before they had a table for us. Breakfast was really good but of course it is my favorite meal. After breakfast we headed back to Darren and Brooke’s. Cheri and Brooke went out for a pedicure and manicure. Darren and I finished building the door stand that I glued up yesterday, looks nice. Then Darren and I loaded up all the shower gifts that had been delivered here to take them to the baby shower so other people could see them. The baby shower was held outdoors in a pavilion and rain was predicted for the day. The rain did come but not until everyone was there and quit just before everything was done. It couldn’t have worked out any better. It was around 6:00 pm when we got home and all the gifts unloaded. It was time to relax and visit about the day and baby Wyatt. We ordered in pizza for supper and watched some TV before calling it a night.

Darren and Brooke left early for a parenting class and didn’t get back home until noon. Cheri had put in a bad night so she rested and watched some TV. I worked on the PVC door storage unit. I got it as far as getting all the PVC parts assembled, still have to put on the pipe wrapping and needed to wait for Darren as I wasn’t sure how he wanted it done. I put up a couple of shelves in the babies room. When Darren and Brooke got back we headed out for lunch at a local restaurant. From there we headed north for a 45 minute ride for the sonogram. We met Chris and Cheryl there. It was so exciting to see the baby and was very active moving all around. You could see his fat little cheeks and also looks like he has a lot of hair and big feet. It was around 5:30 pm when we got back to Darren and Brooke’s we had time to rest before meeting Chris and Cheryl along with friends of theirs (Jack & Carrol) for dinner at a restaurant that none of us a been to before. The food was excellent and we would go back again. Just before we left for dinner it started to rain pretty hard with some wind and small hail. Then the power went out but was back on when we got home. We watched a little TV and called it a night.
