I went for my accountability
group breakfast and Bible study so no time for a morning walk. I got home just
before 9:00 am and usually get home around 8:00 am. One of the fellows was late
getting there so made the Bible study late. Cheri had laundry going when I got
home and was finishing breakfast and coffee. We took Grandma for her B-12 shot
and then to Walgreens so we could get our flu shots. So it was noon when we got
home. After lunch Cheri finished her laundry and worked in her sewing room. I
really didn’t feel up to doing anything this afternoon (used the excuse that it
was too hot outside) except resting in my recliner along with some Bible study
and TV. I also had a two hour nap this afternoon. Cheri was also busy in the
kitchen fixing us lasagna to have for dinner. We watched some of the new fall
season shows this evening.

I didn’t have a good night
or morning. I woke up in the night with night sweats and then this morning had
a temp over 100. Also didn’t get up until after 6:00 am and no walk this
morning. But by 10:00 am I was feeling much better. I made a trip to Lowe’s and
Home Depot to get some repair parts for the power washer and couldn’t find what
I needed without buying a complete kit for just under 40 dollars. After I got
home Cheri headed to the grocery store and I went out to the shop to work on
the power washer. I got it fixed and no more leaks. Of course when I tried it
to see if I had the leaks fixed I kept right on power washing and got carport
done where the car sits. So now the next part is power washing the driveway.
When Cheri got home and seen what I had done she was pretty upset with what I
had done while she was gone. After getting cleaned up and lunch I was ready for
the recliner. Cheri was also busy doing laundry today. We spent the rest of the
afternoon and evening watching TV shows we had recorded as the fall season has
started. Cheri called it a night at 10:30 pm and I stayed up to watch the rest
of the Packer football game which didn’t get over until 12:30 am.

After my walk, breakfast,
coffee, and Bible study I decided to get the power washer out and do some power
washing on the house. Cheri even came out and helped me. But after getting one
side of the shed and one side of the shop done I had to quit, too tired to do
anymore. I was ready for my morning shower to get cleaned up for the day. So by
11:00 am I was back in my recliner to rest. At noon I decided to take Cheri to
Longhorn Steak House for her long overdue birthday dinner. We tried the Flat Iron
steak and was disappointed with the flavor which we didn’t care for. So her birthday
dinner that was two months late was a bust. I told her we would do another
birthday dinner. We made a stop on the way home at Lowe’s so Cheri could pick
up some paint for the project she is working on. As soon as we got home I
headed for the recliner and that is where I stayed the rest of the afternoon
and early evening. I had trouble staying awake for any TV and at 7:30 pm I went
to bed. I guess the power washing was too much for me. Praying for a better day
tomorrow.

Gay Sept-26-17

I didn’t sleep very good
last night so the walk this morning seemed longer and took more time. So after
breakfast and a shower I was ready for a nap. Cheri has been very busy putting
out more fall decorations and also got the floors mopped. She show me the bath
tub faucet in the guest bathroom was loose. So I was a plumber today and
thought it was going to be an easy job but found out that it was never
installed correctly so I had to do some rebuilding in order to get it tight.
Cheri had been talking to Pam and found out that Beall’s had their luggage on
sale so we headed over to check it out. We liked what they had but the carry on
was too small and that is all we really wanted. So we headed over to TJ Max
where we found the carry on that we wanted. After that we stopped at Jersey
Mikes for lunch. It has been a long time since we have be out for lunch. When
we got home only had 45 minutes before it was time to leave for my appointment
at the VA in Tampa. They have this really big parking ramp and never have had a
problem finding a parking place but today everything was full and other cars
along with us were driving around looking for someone to leave. We did find one
up on the fourth floor. We waited for over an hour for my 2:30 pm appointment. Really
didn’t learn anything new other than all the test came back negative. I am now
waiting for an appointment to have a chest CT scan. I also have an appointment
on Oct. 16 with the infections doctor along with more blood test. It was 4:00
pm before we got out of there and had a lot of traffic coming home. We were
both ready for our recliners after supper. We watched Dancing with the Stars or
I should say Cheri did as I slept though part of it. Judge Cheri was wrong on
who got voted off and thinks it still should have been Drew from Property
Brothers.

Still managed to get my
whole walk done this morning. I was done with my shower by 9:00 am which is
earlier than the last few weeks. Although I still needed a half hour nap this
forenoon. I worked on getting the wiring harness install in the car for the
trailer lights. It turned out to be a bigger job than I thought it would be but
did get it done. It was noon when I got done and that was it for me. Cheri
worked in her sewing room this morning. She is doing a painting project which
is going to take her a while to finish. After lunch I headed for the recliner
and within an hour I was sound asleep. When I woke up there was a note on Cheri’s
recliner that said gone shopping. I think she drugged me so she could go
shopping. She is a wise shopper and came home with some good deals. We watched
Dancing with the Stars this evening and Cheri was right about who was going to
be voted off. She said that Drew from Property Brothers will be voted off
tomorrow night.

I did my whole walk this
morning and probably wasn’t the best idea. I had to rest for while or I wasn’t
going to make it to church and even then church and Sunday school was just
about more than I could handle. Grandma went to church with us. She also had a
grocery list for us so after dropping her off it home we went and got the
groceries that she needed. It was around 1:30 pm when we finally arrived home.
I was tired and happy to be back in my recliner. It was an afternoon of NASCAR
racing and Packer football for me. Reading and napping for Cheri. Jean came
over for a visit and to see how we were doing this afternoon.

I didn’t sleep very good last
night so got up tired this morning. But managed to walk half a mile this
morning. After breakfast I had to take a nap before I could make it to the
shower to get cleaned up. Cheri was busy today putting away the summer
decorations and putting out the fall ones. She said that she had one piece that
she couldn’t find (I think it is a hint that she wants to go shopping). I did
go outside for an hour and a half and did some more cleaning in the shop and
worked on the car receiver hitch, when I got that done I was done for the day.
Cheri and I spent most of the afternoon in the recliners watching TV. Mike and
Pam stopped over with a crockpot chicken and biscuit casserole which was really
good and have enough for another meal. Thank you Mike and Pam for another
wonderful meal. Yes I am feeling better than I did yesterday and praying for
more improvement tomorrow.

We had to get around early
this morning but was still able to get a walk around the block. Cheri and I had
an 8:00 am appointment that we didn’t get home from until 11:30 am. We were
both very tired and had an early lunch before getting to the recliners. Cheri
did go to bed for a long nap and I did some napping in the recliner. Around
3:00 pm Jean came over to see how I was doing and brought us dessert for
dinner. Cheri got up around 4:00 pm and feeling much better. We had leftovers
for dinner which were very good. This evening we continued watching the series
we have been streaming from Amazon. I had another pretty good day with no fever
and starting to gain back some strength.

Today was the best day I
have had in many weeks. Still nothing great but better and still have a long
way to go. I did walk around the block again this morning. I didn’t have any
fever today which helped make me feel better. I even went out and did some
cleaning in my shop which only lasted half an hour but did do something. The rest
of the day was spent napping and watching TV. Cheri was busy doing laundry,
cleaning and mopping floors, and taking care of me.

I felt a little better
when I got up this morning and it being cool out I walked around the block
which made me feel better. But after breakfast I went downhill for about an
hour. Cheri went with me for my doctor’s appointment because I knew I would
never remember everything I was told to tell her. The good news is all the test
that have come back have been negative. We are still waiting on two other test.
They also took more blood today. The bad news is they don’t have any idea what
is wrong with me. All in all I think maybe today was the best day I have had in
a few weeks. Pam brought over baby back ribs she picked up at Sam’s Club. She
knows that they are my favorite and even had to make two trips to get them for
me. We are so blessed to have so many wonderful friends that continue to check
in to see how I am doing. So I am looking forward to a better day tomorrow.
Thank you God for being with us.

I had a really bad morning
but by noon I was feeling much better and had a good afternoon. Cheri started a
beef roast with onions, carrots, and potatoes in the crockpot to have for
dinner. Cheri also went grocery shopping. We spent the afternoon and evening
watching a show we are streaming from Amazon. I got two calls today from people
checking in to see how I was doing. Tomorrow I have a doctor’s appointment so
hope to get some answers on what going on.

My fever wasn’t quite as
bad this morning so I went out and got the gas drained out of the generator and
put back in the storage shed. It didn’t take all that long to get it done but I
wasn’t worth anything the rest of the day. I did spike a fever midafternoon.
Cheri did her usual Monday work before joining me in the recliners. We have
been watching some shows we have streamed off of Amazon. Tonight was the new
season of Dancing with the Stars. I was only able to stay awake to watch three
dances (the first two and the last one).

I wanted to go to church
today but spiked a fever of 99.9. By noon I was feeling better and decided I
needed to get out of the house for a while. So we took a ride down to Lakeland
and took some back roads and saw a lot of trees that were down and some power
lines that where still down. We stopped at Wa-Wa to have milk shakes and then
back home. Late afternoon I started going downhill again with a 99.8 fever. I
did watch the NASCAR race. After the race we had pizza which we haven’t had for
a long time and it didn’t set too well on my stomach. I stayed up late to watch
the Green Bay Packers get beat by the Atlanta Falcons. I think Atlanta is going
to be the team that goes all the way to the Super Bowl. Cheri continues to take
very good care of me.

Nothing exciting going on
here in the Sharp house today. I spiked a 100.3 temp this morning and wasn’t
worth anything the rest of the day but did feel some better later this
afternoon. Cheri was busy doing more house work and making guest bed along with
many other things. She also spent time waiting on me. I spent the whole day in
the recliner watching TV, I did try to do some reading but couldn’t hold my
interest. We streamed a show call Goliath from Amazon Prime which was very good
but the language was really bad. I watch the Wisconsin Badger football game
which they won. This evening we watched a few movies we had recorded and called
it a night.

Gay Sept-15-17

I was up at 5:00 am to see
if I could make it for my 6:30 am accountability group breakfast and Bible
study. I got back home at 8:00 am and was ready for the recliner and a nap.
Cheri worked really hard today doing a whole weeks work in one day. At 11:00 am
Cheri took a break from her house work and went with me to Ron and Sandy’s so I
could pick up the motorcycle and get it home as it was taking up space in Ron
and Sandy’s garage and Ron couldn’t get his car in the garage. When we got home
we had a grilled ham and cheese sandwich for lunch. Normally I would take
Grandma for her doctor’s appointment but I knew the doctor would be late and I
couldn’t be out that long. So Cheri took her, she had a 1:00 pm appointment and
at 1:00 pm the doctor was still seeing 10:30 am patients (a very long wait).
Cheri also had to pick up groceries for Grandma and didn’t get home until 4:30
pm. Cheri was tired and needed to sit down in her recliner for a while. I feel
so helpless that I don’t have the strength to do anything. We had leftovers for
dinner which was fine with me. The evening was spent watching TV.

Gay Sept-10-17

(The blog covers a few
days)
We are hunkered down and
have been watching the storm on TV. As the day progressed so did the rain and
wind. At 11:00 pm the eye of the storm was about 50 miles straight south of us
and was moving straight north. Which means it would come right over us. That is
when we lost power. The wind gust were very strong and then at 2:00 am
everything quieted down and as of this morning we have only a few wind gust. We
are surrounded by water and won’t be able to get out for a while. I did get the
car out of the garage and thought that I could drive through the water but
turned out to be too deep. I only got a couple blocks from the house. So we sat
around reading, talking, eating, and napping. I did try to get Ron’s generator
started to cool down the refrigerator but couldn’t get it started. Ron and
Sandy had a hard time getting back from South Carolina, no gas stations open
and ran out of gas about 50 miles from home. Their son in law brought gas to
them so they could get back. Ron and another fiend Craig came with a high
Toyota 4 runner and got us out and home about 7:30 pm last night (Monday). Good
to be home and went right to bed as it was dark and couldn’t do anything. This
morning (Tuesday) I went out at 7:00 am and got our generator out and by 8:00
am we had power in the house. The only thing we are lacking is running water.
Don’t have any idea when we will get power and running water. When we came
through town last night everything on the east side of town was without power. Update we got running water now. This
afternoon I took the generator over to Jean’s for a couple of hours for her
refrigerator. The park manager was in contact with Duke Energy and found out
that it will be weeks and maybe months before we get power. Time figure out
what our next move is. With no power also means no internet service.
Wednesday Sept 13th. The generator
ran until about 3:00 am and then run out of gas. Our generator is only good for
120 service so we don’t have any air conditioning, hot water, dryer for
clothes, and stove to cook on. We used Jean’s car this morning to go over to
Grandma’s to clean out her refrigerator and to see what damage the storm did.
Well when we got there we couldn’t see any damage and when we went inside it
was nice and cool. The power was on and everything in the refrigerator was all
good. Then we went looking for gas for the generator and finally found some at
Wal-Mart, had to wait in a long line but was happy to get it. When we got home
we got Grandma ready to go home as we still don’t have any power and is very
hot in the house for her. She was glad to get back home. Then we went to
Wal-Mart to get her some groceries and all of their coolers and frozen areas
were empty, hadn’t done any restocking from the power being off. We did get
some good news today and was told we should have power back by midnight Friday.
Cheri and I removed some brush and tree limbs that fell in the yard. After that
I was done for the day. I am still weak and running a low grade fever although
today one time it was up to 99.8. Ron called later this afternoon and told us
the water was down and they were bring our car home. Jean came over late this
afternoon and then eat supper with us and watched TV until 8:00 pm.
Thursday Sept-14-17
I was up at 4:15 am this
morning and filled the generator with gas before it ran out. I am still running
the low grade fever but think this was a better day as I felt like I had more strength,
probably because I didn’t do anything. At noon it was 90 degrees in the house
and had to go out for a ride to cool down and get gas for the generator. Jean
came over for a visit and stayed to watch TV with us. At 4:00 pm our power came
back on. So I quickly got the generator unhooked and the power turned on to
start cooling down the house. We take so many things in our lives for granted
and is good to get back to basics to show us that God is the one that is in
control. After supper Jean came back over to watch a movie with us. At 8:30 pm
I headed for the shower to get cleaned up, the hot shower is much better than
the cold shower I had this morning. We crawled into bed and watched a little
more TV before calling it a night. We also now have internet service again so I
can get the blog posted again.

Things have change since I
made the post yesterday morning. We were headed over to the evacuation center
to check it out when we got a call from our good friends Ron and Sandy. Their
daughter was freaking out about the storm and wanted Ron and Sandy to travel
with them to the north. So Ron and Sandy offered us their home to stay in to
weather the storm. I told Ron we were going to check out the evacuation center.
Well it was already half full and filling up fast. No cots to sleep on and
would be assigned to a room with other people and would have to sleep on the
tile floor. So called Ron back right away and told them we would accept their
offer. Ron and Sandy had planned on staying and already had food ready and the generator
ready to go. So Cheri and I busied ourselves getting things ready to take over
to Ron and Sandy’s. We took over a load this morning and then went and got
Grandma and brought her over to our place. Our neighbor Jean who is going to be
with us brought her stuff over. After dinner we headed over to Ron and Sandy’s.
I was even able to take the motorcycle with us. So we are safe and ready to
weather the storm. God blessed us again today with wonderful friends to help us
out.

Gay Sept-8-17

I again had night sweats
and not feeling very good this morning. We headed over to Grandma’s first thing
this morning and got the awnings down. On the way we passed three gas stations
and no gas. After we got done at Grandma’s we went Publix’s for groceries and
found gas at the new 711 station. I filled the car and got six gallon for the
generator. When we got to Publix’s the parking lot was pretty full but got a
spot right in front of the store. We were able to get all the groceries we
needed. The only thing was no water. But friends Dick and Linda met us in the
parking lot with two cases of water. Mike and Pam also met us there with a crockpot
of potato soup and apple pie to have for dinner today. God really blessed us
and looked out for us today. When we got home I helped Cheri get the car
unloaded and I was too weak to do anymore today.
UPDATE:
It is 6:30 am Saturday Sept 9 and
things are looking really bad. As of now we are going to see about spending the
storm in the evacuation center here in Zephyrhills. From what I have seen this
morning it is going to be really bad. 100 mile wind gust along with tornados in
our area. Plus an evacuation order for all mobile homes. As of now this will be
my last blog until after the storm. Please pray for us.

As you can see I have been
gone for a few days. I had a follow up appointment at the VA on Tuesday and
while I was there I checked in to the Urgent Care to see what could be done
about the ongoing fever I have. I had a group of six doctors taking care of me
and put me through all kinds of test which came back negative. So they put me
in the hospital so they could run more test. Some of the test are going take a
few days so they sent me home to prepare for the hurricane. It was around 5:30
pm when we got home. Cheri stay the whole time with me, tried to get her to go
home but she wouldn’t leave. Ron and Sandy brought us dinner (Thanks Ron and
Sandy). After we eat we both headed for the shower to get cleaned up. We were
both exhausted and went to bed early.

Gay Sept-4-17

I thought I felt a little
better this morning so was ready for a shower and to get cleaned up. When I
finished with my shower Cheri was in her sewing room moving wall hangings to
make room for the one she just finished. So I helped her with that and that did
me in and had to sit down for a while. I also told Cheri I needed to check the
salt in the water softener and went out to the shed to check and sure enough it
needed more salt. I had some on hand and are 40 pound bags, it was all I could
do to lift the bag and empty it in the salt bin. After lunch I once again
thought I wanted to go outside. So Cheri and I dove over to Mike and Pam’s to
water their flowers. We were only gone for about twenty minutes but that was
enough for me. The rest of the day was spent in the recliner. Also when I got
up this morning I couldn’t talk, was very horse. It did get better throughout
the day.

There is nothing I can say
today that I haven’t said the last few days. Spiking the fever, drinking lots
of fluids. Thank you to Cheri for taking really good care of me. I am so ready
to turn the corner. Please continue to pray for me.

Gay Sept-2-17
No change still running
fevers. I just get one calmed down before another starts. I spent the day in
the recliner and did watch the Wisconsin Badger football game I had recorded. I
also took a nap this afternoon. When I got up I went right into another fever. I
was hungry at noon and had a big sandwich and was a mistake because it didn’t
set well. Cheri fixed pork chops with potatoes for dinner. I could only eat a
little bit. Cheri finished her quilt project today and also spent a lot of time
in her recliner reading. Looking for a better day tomorrow.

Feeling no better this morning,
had the wet sweats again during the night and running a temp this morning.
Cheri said that the long weekend is coming up so decided I needed to go to the
ER. Urgent Care didn’t take a blood test and maybe there is something wrong
with the blood. Well they run a complete battery of blood test and urine test
and everything came back normal with no problems. They said that I may have a virus
that I am fighting. If that was true I would think something would show up in
the blood test. After leaving the ER I was down to a new low and feeling weaker
each day. Cheri has been so good to me. She was off grocery shopping and wanted
to know what I wanted, nothing taste good and don’t even feel like eating much.
I did take another two hour nap this afternoon. I still have more antibiotics
to take and hope that takes care of the problem.

Gay Aug-31-17

Things didn’t start out
very well. I once again went through the night sweats and this morning Cheri
took my temp it was at 99.9. I needed to go to the place where I had been
helping Bob to get my tools. Cheri went with me to make sure I didn’t stay and
work. Well I only had a fifteen minute job of reinstalling an electrical
receptacle and that was enough to do me in. I was happy to get back in the car
and head home. Saturday I have the ceiling fan to install and decided that I
was too weak to be putting up scaffolding and climbing. So we stopped by the
U-Haul to cancel the trailer for Saturday. I called Donnie this afternoon and
told him I was just too sick to be installing ceiling fan. I am going to call
him next week to get something set up. Cheri spent some time in her sewing room
and then curled up in the recliner with a new book. Cheri made me go in the
bedroom for an afternoon nap which helped make me feel a little better. I did a
better job of keeping the fever under control. We watched a couple faith movies
we bought last week.
