Cheri worked on her quilt today. She is done making boxes and blocks. She laid all of them out on the bed to see what size the quilt will be. She was trying to arrange the blocks the way she wants them. I think we are going to the quilt shop where she bought the material so she can use their pin up wall so she can see them better and have some input from them. We will have to take the camera and computer with us. The lady said the best way to see what you have is to take a picture of it after you have it pined up. Then look at the pictures to see what you think. Each time you move the blocks around take another picture. After doing this several times you can pick the picture you like the best and can put them back in the order you had them by looking at the picture. So stay tune for the results. I have uploaded three additional pictures of the boxes Cheri made. http://picasaweb.google.com/sharpstravels  If you read yesterday’s blog you know I had a problem with the breaker tripping. So this morning when I got up I went to make coffee and no place to plug in the coffee pot. Panic! I can’t be without coffee. I thought I have nothing to lose so I tried to reset the breaker again. Well it didn’t trip, so I crossed my fingers and plugged in the coffee pot. Sure enough it worked, so any day that can start with coffee has to be a good day. After breakfast I started plugging in all the other things one by one and everything works. So whatever the problem was its not fixed and will come back to haunt me later. At this point I have no idea what caused it. This afternoon we went over to Grandma’s to take care of her and played some cards. Then we headed to Wal-Mart to get groceries for Grandma and us. I also got the RF remote for the TV and DVR working. So with God’s help it was a very good day.

Today was an interesting day. Cheri spent her free time working on her quilt. The first thing I did this morning before I took my shower was to go and get the lawn mower and mow the lawn. Otherwise I would have to take an additional shower. After taking the lawn mower back I stopped to see how Grandma was doing this morning. She is still holding her own, has some good days and some not so good days. I called Direct TV to see about getting the Whole-Home DVR service. After spending over an hour on the phone with them, I was told I would have to have a new dish. I explained that I already had HD TV and they did some checking on the dish I now have on the 5th wheel. After checking and it appears that the one I have will not work. So I won’t be getting the Whole-Home DVR service. We have the distant RV package so we can get local channels while we are traveling. So I asked if I could have the local channels here in Florida. No problem…..right. Well when they got done I could see the Florida channel lineup but I couldn’t access them. They couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t access them and said they would do some more checking. Then the phone connection went dead. I think they hung up me. So I ended up not getting anything except an 11 dollar charge to our account. This afternoon we went to see the movie Wall Street starring Michael Douglas. After the movie was over we just looked at other and said we just can’t seem to find a good movie and more. If you have been following the news about the stock trading companies and banks that are failing and getting money from the government, then you have already seen the movie. This evening was our Live Group meeting. It was another fun evening learning about God and how he works for us. We also met another new friend at the gathering. When we got home I tried to turn on the TV so we could watch Dancing with the Stars. Well there was no power to the TV. I checked the breaker and it was tripped, so I reset it and after about 10 seconds it tripped again. I started unplugging things and resetting the breaker with no luck. Cheri was able to watch it in the bedroom while I run some cords from other outlets so I could get the TV and DVR working. The breaker had tripped while we were gone sometime between 8:00 and 9:00 pm. I guess I know what I will be doing tomorrow.

Cheri spent the day working on her quilt. She is making different color three dimensional looking boxes to add to the quilt. Grandma needed to go to the bank so that was one of my projects this morning. This afternoon I worked on the RF remote again today. I thought I had it fixed last week, but it’s still not working like it should. I think I may give up on that project because I see Direct TV now has the set up that I had working before I had trouble with the remotes. I think that I will go that route. It will let me control the DVR from the bedroom. I also spent some extra time reading the Bible, something we all need to do. Late this afternoon we headed over to Grandma’s to take care of her needs and play cards. Grandma and Cheri each won a game of SOB. Cheri watched Dancing with the Stars and I watched the Green Bay Packers against the Chicago Bears. A big lose for the Packers, there is no way a team can win with 17 penalties. They tied the Packer record that goes back over 50 years. It is bad when you lose a game and it doubles when it is to a divisional team.

We stopped and drop off the Sunday paper at Grandma’s on our way to church. We went to late church because they were having a variety show at 12:45 pm. After church service we could get a slice of pizza and soda for $2.00 and take it into the church to watch the variety show. It didn’t get started on time because the church service ran late. It was after 1:00 pm before it started and then they had problems with the sound system. Long story short the show was pretty good and nice to see all the children and adults who thought they were kids having fun putting on the show. We didn’t get home until around 3:00 pm. We took care of Grandma and then home so I could watch the NASCAR Race. Cheri worked on her quilt while I watched the race. Then we settled in to watch some of the new fall TV shows. I have added another picture to the Cheri’s Quilt album. http://picasaweb.google.com/sharpstravels I didn't have the complete link for the blog yesterday, sorry about that.

No news today. It was another quilt day with Cheri still sewing together blocks. I got the pattern done for the block Cheri wants and we cut one out to see if I had the measurement right and to see if she liked it. Well it came out OK. After taking care of Grandma we went downtown for the car show, not very many cars. I think it was they had rain predicted for this afternoon and evening, never did rain. We were back home by 4:30 pm, so I got the grill fired up and grilled some chicken. I have decided to up load the pictures of Cheri’s quilt and will add more pictures has she works on it. Go to album: Cheri’s Quilt or click this link. http://picasaweb.google.com/sharpstravels

Should I sew them togeather like this or.......

........or like this or .......

.....or like this, how the pattern changes as you turn them

About 2/3 are sewed togeather
Grandma was invited out to see Robert and Karen Anderson. They live in another park about 5 miles away. So we went over to Grandma’s at 9:30 am and started her laundry. Then we took Grandma to see Robert and Karen. Grandma has been there several times, but it was the first time for us. They use to live here in our park. It was nice to see them, Karen showed us around their home. What a beautiful home they have. We left after we visited for a while. Karen is going to bring Grandma home. We made a stop at Wal-Mart on the way home. I finally broke down and bought a new watch. I found one identical to the old one. We picked up some groceries and headed home. Cheri work most of the afternoon on her quilt. I worked on the pattern for the different block pattern Cheri wanted.  It was near 4:00 pm before we headed over to Grandma’s to get her laundry in and the bed made. After we got done with her needs we played a couple of games of SOB. Carol came just as we were starting the second game so she played with us. I must gloat as I managed to win both games today. There must be a blue moon night. Cheri fixed toast and scrambled eggs with sausage gravy. It is one of my favorites. I have included a few pictures of the work in progress on Cheri’s quilt.

Today was a repeat of yesterday as far as the weather goes. After our morning walk, breakfast, Good Morning America with coffee, and the news paper. Cheri work all day sewing together blocks for her quilt. I worked on designing a quilt box that looks three dimensional. They already had one in the quilt book, but Cheri wanted one that has borders of different size. We took a break around 2:30 pm and watched some TV before it was time to go over to Grandma’s and take care of her needs. We once again played a couple games of cards that Cheri won. I grilled up a couple of turkey filets for supper. After supper Cheri work a little more on the quilt and I did some computer work. Then we settled in for an evening of TV.

It was another nice morning with a temp of 70 degrees and a high of 86 degrees with a late afternoon shower. I am having a problem with getting TV s reception in on the antenna, so today my job was to check that out. I ran a temp coax cable from the antenna to the video control box, still no TV reception. Checked to see if there was power to the control box and that was ok. Then I bypassed the control box and hooked the coax cable direct to the TV. Now I have TV reception. So that means the problem is in the control box. I sent an e-mail to Peterson Industries (manufacture of our 5th wheel) to have them send me a replacement. My new RF remote came yesterday so I got that installed and everything is once again working like it is suppose to. Then I was recruited to be a quilter’s assistant. I helped Cheri cut out 432 3 ¾ inch triangles. Each set of 6 have to match. That was the part that we did yesterday. We didn’t get done with that until 2:30 this afternoon. I am not sure on much a quilter’s assistant is supposed to be paid. I have to admit it was a challenge and I did enjoy it. Now Cheri has to sew all 432 triangles back together again. So you say why did we cut them all up if they are going to be sewed together again. Will they all are sewed together in a different sequence. I am taking pictures as we go so when it is finished I will post the pictures so you can see results. Then it was time to go over to Grandma’s. We got home around 4:30 pm.

It was a nice 70 degree morning and great for walking. Cheri and I made a trip to the flea market here in Zephyrhills. The first one for the season was last week. Well there weren’t very many venders. Although I bought some new cards to play SOB, we about got the old ones wore out. Cheri bought some peaches and bananas. Also got a bracelet that she could be without, very nice and the price was right. On the way back we back we stopped to pay the air conditioner bill for Grandma’s park model. I don’t remember if I gave a final update on the air conditioner or not. It is now working great. It is able to keep up on the hottest days and in fact it doesn’t run as much as it did before. So it should be easier on the electric bill. After lunch Cheri wanted me to help here cut out the material for the new quilt she is making. The quilt pattern is from the book “ One-Block Wonders” by Maxine Rosenthal & Joy Pelzmann. The material has to have six repeats. After cutting out the six repeats they have to be stacked together so they would look like one repeat. Boy that is harder than it looks. We got one stack of six done and had to quit has it was time to go over to Grandma’s. Carol was there visiting with her. After we got Grandma taken care of the four of us played a game of SOB. Then we headed back home for supper and to get ready for our Life Group gathering. Once again we had a wonderful time. I guess it is always a wonderful time when you can learn about God and meet new friends. We met three new friends this evening. It was a late night because when we got home Cheri had to watch the Dancing with the Stars results show that we had recorded. I guess it was no surprise on the one that was voted off.

After our morning walk and breakfast I was going to go out and work on the antenna. Something has gone wrong with the antenna or preamp for local TV. But I got lazy and didn’t get it done. We decided to go over to Grandma’s early has we plan on going to a movie this afternoon. We got Grandma taken care of and then played some cards with her. At 1:30 pm we headed for the theater for the movie. We saw Ben Affleck’s new movie The Town. It had a little something for everybody. There was a lot of action and some romance. If you like shootem up movies this is the one for you, I think they must have used 100,000 rounds of ammunitions. Cheri and I both enjoyed the movie. I got the grill out and grilled up some rib eye steaks we got in Wisconsin, very good. Cheri is on cloud nine this evening because Dancing with the Stars is on. Cheri thought it was going to be on two week ago so she has been patently waiting.

Normally we don’t walk on Sunday morning if we are going to early church. But this morning we were both up early so we got the morning walk in. We were almost late for church as we usually leave around 9:00 am. I looked at my watch and it said 9:05 am then I looked at the clock on the wall and it said 9:21 am. I said to Cheri we are going to be late as my watch has started losing time again. It is time to get a new watch. We hurried and got to church just as it was starting. We had a meeting after church service was over. It was for all new volunteers to show us around and let us know all the different volunteer positions that are available. It was near 12:30 pm before we got home. After lunch we checked in on Grandma and then back home so I could watch the NASCAR Race. Cheri spent the afternoon reading and napping. After supper we watched a couple of movies that we had bought 4 or 5 years ago and had never watched.

I wanted to go for a motorcycle ride this morning so I asked Cheri if she wanted to go to a quilt shop. Her eyes lit up and said sure. So we were on the road by 9:30 am to take advantage of the cooler weather before it got real hot. We headed off to Hudson which is west of here on the Bay. I guess this was the quilt store Cheri has been looking for. The owner was so nice helping Cheri pick out the material she wanted and gave her a lot of great tips she can use when cutting out her blocks for the quilt. Cheri also picked up a few other things that will make it easier to work on the quilts. It was almost 1:30 pm before we got home for a late lunch. The love bugs are out now and it sure did show as the front of the motorcycle had a nice collection of them. So I spent a half hour getting them cleaned off. We headed over to Grandma’s to take care of her. We didn’t play any cards today as Grandma likes to watch football and the Wisconsin Badgers were going to be on TV. So we headed home and watched some TV before I gilled up some pork chops for supper. I wanted to take a motorcycle ride to Plant City this evening for the car show but it was just too hot. So we will save that for another day.

Nothing going on today except the usual things. Cheri did take Grandma for her B-12 shot and flu shot but the doctor’s office hasn’t received there vaccine for the flu shots. They said it would be sometime in late October before they would have it. After taking care of Grandma’s needs and playing cards with her this afternoon we headed off to Wal-Mart to pick up a few things for her and us. Well when we walk into Wal-Mart there was a sign that said they were giving flu shots today. So Cheri and I got that done and while Cheri picked up the groceries I went and got Grandma and brought her back to Wal-Mart so she could get her flu shot. By the time Grandma had her shot Cheri was ready to check out, good timing. Then we dropped Grandma off along with her groceries and headed home. I spent most of the day reading and doing some paper work. Cheri also read and worked on her wall hanging.

Not much happening today. Cheri did some laundry and cleaning. I worked outside until it was too hot. I worked on the motorcycle lift and got the cable changed and put back together, lubed up everything and now it works like a new one. I also got the stickers put on the license plates of all the vehicles. As long as I had the cover off the motorcycle I cleaned the bugs off the front of it. So now it looks pretty good again. That is one thing that needs to be done after each ride. Cheri took Grandma for her doctor’s appointment and had to wait over an hour to get in. It was a follow up appointment and was with the doctor less than five minutes. Cheri also did some laundry for Grandma. It was around 1:30 pm before Cheri got home for lunch. She was a little stressed out form waiting at the doctor’s office. After lunch we kicked back and took it easy until it was time to head over to Grandma’s to take care of her needs. Then it was time for a couple games of cards with Grandma which Cheri won.

It was 69 degrees this morning when I got up. It is the first time it has been below 70 degrees since we have returned to Florida in early August. I asked Cheri if I needed a jacket to walk this morning. She just looked at me and laughed. The morning walk was wonderful. After breakfast I asked Cheri if she wanted to go for a motorcycle ride. I figured we better take advantage of the cooler weather. While I was getting the motorcycle ready to go Cheri went over to check on Grandma to see how she was, she is still progressing. Cheri has wanted to go to a quilt store in Brooksville. So today we both get what we want to do. It was a great ride to Brooksville by way of all the back roads we could find. Cheri didn’t find what she was looking for at the quilt store. Sometimes I think she doesn’t find what she wants so I will keep taking her to different quilt stores. We found a little restaurant on the edge of Brooksville. The food was excellent and even had food to take home; we plan on going back again. We took more back roads back to Zephyrhills and arrived a little passed 1:30 pm. Cheri did some reading and I had some computer work to do for the Life Group. Around 3:00 pm we went over to Grandma’s to take care of her needs. Then we played cards with her. We had some of our left over lunch for supper and still have enough for another meal. I have added a couple of pictures from our ride. The dead tree would have been better if I would have slow down for Cheri. We will try for a better picture next time.

It was another nice day with less humidity, although it still got up to 88 degrees and a nice breeze this afternoon. Before I showered this morning I decided to tackle the lawn as it needed to be mowed. So by 9:30 am I had that project done. After I got done with the shower and dressed in some dry clothes I moved on to the project of hooking up the TV and DVR to the surround system. Cheri left to take Grandma to the doctor for her blood test as she has a doctor’s appointment Thursday. When they got back Cheri cleaned the trailer for Grandma. Being alone was a good thing because I needed the quiet time to think things through. When we got the HD DVR the guy from Direct TV hooked up the DVR to TV. I remember him asking if I had a HDMI cable. I remember saying no; don’t even know what it is. He used some other cables I had and got it working. That was a year and half ago. I got the manuals out and did some studying last night; it said I needed a HDMI cable to have the best picture. I got that a Wal-Mart, nice only need one cable instead of four cables. Then the manual said I needed a Digital Audio Optical cable (A what). So I also got the Digital Audio Cable at Wal-Mart. Funny it looks just like the cables I already have. Yep I forgot the Optical part, had to make a trip to Radio Shack to get it. OK now with the manuals and pictures laid out in from of me, I am ready to start. I got the HDMI cable in and check the TV and it works. So then I removed the old cables after marking them in case I had to put them back in. Yep I checked the TV and no picture. After more checking I discovered I needed to push the HDMI button on the TV remote, now the TV works and I do believe it is a clearer picture. OK a pat on the back and a smile on my face I am ready to attack the Surround system. This was a piece of cake. Plug the Digital Audio Optical cable in the back of the DVR and the Surround system. I couldn’t go wrong here as there was only one place it would fit. After much to do with the remote for the receiver I got the TV audio to come out the Surround system speakers, but doesn’t sound very good. Back to the receiver manual to do some reading. The part on how to use the remote is around twenty pages long. After reading three pages, I already forgot what I read on page one. I think I will go out and grab a 10 or 12 year old kid off the street and they will have everything working in about 30 seconds. Darn it the kids are in school. Ok back to page one and try each step on the remote. After a couple of hours the sound is now the way it should be. I hate it when something the size of a crackerjack box is smarter than I am. When Cheri came home she said how are things going. I just gave her that look (yep you know the one). Now I am exhausted and need to rest my fried brain. This evening was our first Life Group meeting. It is a group of about twenty people from church getting together to explore God and the things he can do for us. We are using the book Who You Are When No One’s Looking by Bill Hybels. Cheri and I were a little nervous about meeting new people. It was all unfounded as we were greeted with open arms and had a great time. We are already looking forward to next Tuesday night meeting.

We had a good morning walk as the air seemed drier this morning. I think it was my imagination but if it works, than it’s a good thing, because I got some work done outside before it got too hot. I filled the on board water tank, so now we are ready if we lose water in the park again. I also worked on the motorcycle lift. The cable was starting to get farad and planned on changing it. But when I checked it out there was a lot of extra cable on the winch. So I pulled out enough cable to where I had fresh cable to work with. I needed to have a new cable clamp. So Cheri and I went to Home Depot. On the way we stopped by Grandma’s to take care of her needs. She continues to improve a slow rate. We have a Life Group meeting Tuesday night and wanted to find where we had to go for that. It is a chance for us to meet new people and learn more about God and the way he works. After we got home we had lunch and I decided it was now too hot to work out side. Cheri spent her spare time reading today. This afternoon I ordered a new RF remote for the TV. The old one quit working. I also got out the manuals on the TV and surround sound system to see what I needed to hook up the TV to the surround sound system and the DVR. At 3:00 pm I got a call from the air conditioning people saying they were on their way to Grandma’s to put in the air return vent. The air conditioner still lags behind in trying to keep up with the cooling. So I had them install another cooling vent in the dining area. Once again I think the cooling problem is solved. After supper we made a trip to Wal-Mart so I could get the cables I need to hook up the TV to the surround sound system and DVR.

Not much going on today. We were going to late church today so we stopped on our way to check on Grandma and she is doing well. The nausea medicine as made all the difference. After church service Cheri and I were baptizes along with several other people. It is a new start in our christen life. This afternoon we watched a movie and then over to Grandma’s to take care of her needs. Carol was visiting her. We were back home by 3:30 pm and got ready to watch the Packer’s play. It was a treat for us as we don’t get to see many of their games. Even though we have Direct TV I am too cheap to pay the price they want so we could get all the Packer games. Yes the Packers did win, but I was worry near the end as it looked like the Eagles were going to pull out the win.

9-11, everyone remembers what they were doing on that day. Two other days I remember are when JFK was shoot and when the first space shuttle blew up. It’s sad that we only remember the bad things that happened and not good things. I rode the bicycle around the park today and see that the two trailers that burned have been all tore apart and moved out. Other then the damage to the trailers nearby that had the siding melted you would never know we had the fires. As far as I know no one has been caught for setting the fires. The people from the first fire have bought another place in the park that was for sale. The people from the second fire have had a use trailer moved into the park on a different site. They plan on having a Florida room added to it. Grandma has been sick the last two days. The doctor told her to stop taking the medicine that was for nausea. He said it had a lot of side effects. So now she is very nauseated. So we had her start taking the medicine again. We will have to go back to the doctor to see if there is something else she can take. This evening she said she felt better. The therapist had his last visit today. So now there will not be any more Medicare people coming to check on her. It was a very hot day again today and Grandma’s trailer got up to 82 inside. So that means that the air conditioning people have more work to do. I thought sure enlarging the return air was going to fix the problem. I think they will probably add an additional air out let in the kitchen area.

I got Grandma’s van wash this morning. And I must say I picked the wrong day to do it as it is very humid and I was soaking and wet within five minutes. The air conditioning people called at 10:30 am and said they were on their way over to install the new air return vent. Which was good timing as the therapist was coming at 11:00 am. Well the air conditioning people brought the wrong size vent and said they would come back at 1:00 pm to install the right one. The good news is the air conditioner is now working the way it was supposed to. It has only taken two years to get the problem solved. After the therapist left we went home to have lunch and then back to Grandma’s to wait for the air conditioner people to come. At 1:00 pm I got a telephone call saying they didn’t have the right size grill in stock and had to order one. So now they will be here Monday. This afternoon Cheri and I went to see Mat Dillon’s movie the Takers. It was a little better then The American. Of course that’s no saying much. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you really don’t have anything else to do. After the movie we had to go to Wal-Mart to pick up Grandma’s medicine, I also had to pick up mine. I got the grill out and grilled up a rib eye steak for supper, very good. I just got done and it pour rain, good thing I wasn’t five minutes later.

postheadericon Gay Sept-9-10

The first thing I do after I get up is to make coffee. Well this morning after our walk we didn’t have any water. But the coffee was ready. One good thing about living in an RV is all I had to do was turn on the water pump and we could use our on board water. It seems like we have this happen once or twice a year. I never keep very much water on board because I don’t want it to get stale. Well Cheri forgot and started a load of laundry. After the laundry was done we were very low on water. It was after 4:00 pm before we got water again. I guess the pump went out at the well. The nurse came at noon to see Grandma. This was her last visit. She was so impress with Grandma because of all the things she does for her age. She said that if she is ever in Baker Acers again that she would stop to say hi to Grandma. We played dominos after the nurse left and it was getting hot in the trailer. Ever since we had the new air conditioner put in it seems that it can’t keep up on hot days. If you have followed our blogs then you know it has been an ongoing problem. I was pretty upset and made a trip to Bahrs plumbing and heating to have a talk with the manager. Well I never got to talk to him. But they said they would send someone out to check it out tomorrow. I said that wasn’t good enough and wanted to have someone come today and fix the problem. They did come around 4:30 pm. They determined the return air intake wasn’t large enough. So we had to remove a drawer that was above the intake in order to enlarge the opening. Wow! What a different that made. They are coming back tomorrow to put in a larger filter and vent housing. I am pretty sure this will fix the problem. I asked them why we never had that problem with the old unit. They said that the new unit moves more air and was starving at the air return. Well tomorrow afternoon will tell the tale as it is suppose to be another hot day with a heat index of 110. Stay tuned and I will let you know how things turn out.

We picked up Grandma to take her for her 10:30 am doctor’s appointment. The doctor was running over an hour late so we didn’t get back to Grandma’s until after noon. Then we went to Wal-Mart to drop off prescriptions for Grandma and to pick up some groceries for her and ourselves. By the time we got home it was near 1:30 pm. After lunch Cheri finished cleaning the cupboards and I cleaned out the basement. It was too hot to be outside, but I wanted to get that job done. I was out of salt for the water softener so I made a trip to get salt and made a stop at Lowe’s to pick up a new flag pole mount. I think this is the forth one I have bought over the last five years. We sometimes get a strong wind which is enough to break the mount. I keep looking but not able to find a stronger one. I also made a stop at the Napa store to get a new fuel filter for the truck. I always like to have an extra one on hand because you never know when you are going to need it. After I got home we went over to Grandma’s to take care of her needs and played a game of dominos. We were getting ready to leave when Carol stopped in. She wanted to play Five Crown and said she couldn’t remember how to play. So Cheri and I stayed to play a game with her and Grandma. It started to rain before we got done playing. It was a very hard rain so I took the umbrella and went home to get the car and then back to pick up Cheri. So it was after 7:00 pm before we got done with supper. It did quit raining just before we went to bed. I bet we got over three inches of rain.

Today was fall cleaning day. Cheri with my help cleaned kitchen cupboards. I did manage to get Cheri to part with a few things that she never uses (tough job). Along with cleaning we had to go over to Grandma’s as the therapist was coming at 11:00 am. We also did laundry for her. After lunch we decided to go to a movie. We wanted to see George Clooney’s new movie The American. It has a rating of 4 out of 5 stars. Well I am here to tell you it was a terrible movie. I would give it a rating of 0 out of 5 stars. It is the worst movie we have seen in years. On the way home from the movie we stopped at Grandma’s to bring in the laundry and make her bed plus change her bandages and flush the stomach tube. Then we played a game of cards with her, only one game today as we still had cupboards to finish when we got home. We got rain again this evening and it was a very hot and humid day.

We were lazy again this morning. After our walk we just took our time getting around. I got up with a bad headache and didn’t feel like doing anything. I got the blog written while Cheri read the paper. I checked the paper and saw that Tony Stewart won the NASCAR Race. I was upset with seeing that because I hadn’t finished watching the race. It takes some of the fun out of watching when you already know how it is going to end. I did finished watching it before I took my shower and got dressed. Cheri spent some time going through her quilting catalogs and searching on the internet for a few things she wants. Cheri also fixed chicken and dumplings to take to the Labor Day potluck at the Rec Hall. We picked up Grandma at 12:45 pm to take her with us to the potluck. Today is the first time she has been out since her surgery. She enjoyed seeing the people and been out and about. After the potluck we took Grandma home and got her settled and our routine done with her. We headed home as I still had my headache. I rested for a while and Cheri worked on her wall hanging. I knew Cheri wanted to go to Jo-Ann Fabric’s to pick up a few things. So we headed to Lakeland so Cheri could do some shopping. We drove in rain going down and back. In fact it rain most of the evening.

We were able to take our time getting around this morning which was nice as we went to late church this morning. After church we were invited over to the minister’s (Dean and Hettie) home for lunch. Cheri and I have volunteered to help clean the church. It gave us a chance to meet other people that will be cleaning the church. It was a fun time getting to know other people and visiting. We didn’t get back to Grandma’s until around 4:00 pm. Carol was over to Grandma’s and they were playing cards when we got there. After we took care of Grandma we headed home to relax. Cheri worked on her wall hanging and I read until the NASCAR Race started. I watched about half of it before I fell asleep. I was recording it so I will finish watching it in the morning. We did get a little rain late this afternoon and it was very humid today.

Today was a repeat of yesterday as far as the weather goes. We had a high of 91 degrees. Cheri was excited today because there was a sale at the quilt store here in town. Of course she had to go and check it out. The therapist was coming at 11:00 am for Grandma. So I went over there. When I got home Cheri was back and didn’t buy any material but did get a couple of books. She worked on her wall hanging this afternoon, I read and napped. At 2:00 pm we went back to Grandma’s to do her daily things. Then we played cards with her, she really enjoys playing cards. We got back home around 4:00 pm. I fired up the grill and did some pork chops and Cheri fixed corn on the cob. After supper we headed to Dade City for the monthly car cruse in. It was fun looking at the cars again. It is the first car show we have been to since we got back in Florida. We forgot about the one last month. When we got home I started watching the NASCAR Race that I was recording. I fell asleep watching so I turned it off and went to bed. I will watch the rest of it in the morning.

It was a hot humid day so it was a down day for us. The nurse came to check out Grandma at 12:30 pm. We were thinking about going to a movie this afternoon, but the van didn’t get done until 2:00 pm. So we spent most of the day inside reading. Cheri wanted me to help her cut the backing for her quilt. So we took it down to the Rec Hall where we could put a couple of tables together so we would have room to lay it out. No other news today.

Our Winter Camp Site

The routine was much the same as all the other days. The aid came to Grandma’s at 10:00 am and Roger the therapist that has been working on Grandma’s legs came at 11:00 am. It was after 12:00 pm before we got home. We had lunch and then went grocery shopping for us and Grandma. Usually we go to Wal-Mart and get everything. But today was different, Cheri wanted to go to Publix’s first, because she had a sale paper that had buy one and get one free. We brought that stuff back home because we had some things that had to go into the refrigerator and then to Grandma’s to drop off her things. Then we went to Wal-Mart to pick up some groceries there. From there we headed over to Winn Dixie to get some more buy one and get one free. This isn’t my kind of shopping. I rather just go to one store and get very thing and be done. I guess it is a woman thing when it comes sales and shopping. When we left Winn Dixie I noticed that we had a leak from the transmission of Grandma’s Van. So after we got home and put the groceries away I had Cheri drive it down to Arnolds Repair. I followed in the truck. We left it with them to check it out. They called later and said that the cooling lines from the transmission to the radiator were leaking. They also found a freeze plug in the engine was starting to leak. So they are going to repair them and change the fluid and filter in the transmission. Then we headed back to Grandmas to take care of her needs. It was near 5:00 pm before we got home. Not a fun day.

Wow! September is here, not sure where August went so fast. We have been in Florida almost a month already. The first thing this morning I sprayed the lawn, so I got to take another thing off of my honey dew list. Cheri did some work on her wall hanging. We went over to Grandma’s this morning as the therapist was coming at 10:00 am. She said that she could see Grandma’s is getting stronger. This will be her last visit. We were back to the 5th wheel by 11:30 and decided to take a motorcycle ride down to Plant City to have lunch at Applebee’s. They now have a soup and salad menu. So that is what we had and it was very good. We took the back roads back home; it was a nice 60 mile ride. Later we were back to Grandma’s to take care of her and then we played a couple games of SOB. Carol came while we were playing so we got her involved and taught her how to play. Cheri and I left to go home for supper. Carol and Grandma continued to play SOB. It was another day with lower humidity and a high of 88 degrees.

We were back to our normal getting up this morning. It was 71 degrees this morning which is now our coolest since we have been here. Being it was cooler and low humidity I finished cleaning the motorcycle and mowed the lawn. While I was doing that Cheri went over to Grandma’s as the home help person was coming at 10:00 am and the therapist came at 11:30 am. Cheri got home at 12:30 pm and I was just finishing up my work. After lunch we went for a motorcycle ride. We stopped in Dade City to have my glasses adjusted again. They are still bothering my ears. Then we traveled the back roads around the area. On the way back we made a stop at Lowe’s to I could get some spray for the lawn and a new water hose nozzle. After we got home we went over to Grandma’s to change her bandages and flush her stomach tube. We have to do this every day until Oct 13, and then she gets it removed. We played a couple games of SOB with Grandma. She won one and I won the other one. This is the first time Cheri didn’t win a game.
