I had a problem to work out this morning, do I do the work that needs to be done or go for a motorcycle ride. I did some thinking about it and see that we are supposed to get rain late this afternoon and all day tomorrow. After a lot of debate with myself the motorcycle ride won out. I walked down to see what Bud was doing. He said that he had to be back by 3:00 pm and I said that was good because it will be raining by then. Long story short we did a 102 mile ride, stopped for lunch and a quick stop at the Harley dealer in Lakeland. We were back home by 2:15 pm and it did start raining at 3:00 pm and was still raining when we went to bed. Cheri went and had her hair cut today, looks very nice. She also work on her quilt hanging, all that is left to do now is the binding. I will post a picture when it is done. Dean and Betty came over this evening for a visit and to play SOB. We played three games and Cheri won all of them. I told Cheri that wasn’t a very nice way to treat our company and I also added husband. We got another 9/10 inch of rain. As I write this I can here thunder in the distance so it looks like we have more coming.

It started of pretty wet around here this morning with the 4.6 inches of rain we got yesterday and last night. The neighbor next door that had the new driveway put had a lot of sand up against it and we are on the downhill side, bet you can guess where all that sand is this morning. Yep most of it is underneath our 5th wheel. I shoveled what I could get back up around the driveway I hosed down as much as I could so the grass will grow up through it. Cheri took Grandma to the doctor this morning to get her B 12 shot. So while they were gone I worked on the toilet water shut off that had a slow leak. It being a park model trailer it has all the water lines run with flexible pipe and pressure clamps around the fittings. I had to cut the old shutoff out and then made a trip to Lowe’s to get the special adapter to make the connection to the flexible pipe. It was a neat adapter with the shut off built right into it. While I was checking out at Lowe’s I got a call from Cheri wanting to know where I was and when I would be back to Grandma’s as Grandma didn’t take her keys with her and they were locked out. So they had to wait a few minutes for me to return. After I got the toilet shut off fixed I headed home for lunch and Cheri was in the middle of making deserts for our Life Group meeting this evening so I headed back to Lowe’s to pick up a new shelf for Grandma’s shed. A container of siding wash had been leaking and got on some cans of paint that where sitting on the shelf and eat though the bottom of the cans and dripped down on the next shelf. It turned out to be quit the mess. The two shelves were eight foot long. I replace one complete shelf and was able to make one out of the other two, another project done for Grandma. It was after 2:00 pm before I got home. I started the grill and did a couple of steaks. So we had a very late lunch or a very early supper. Our Life Group meeting was another interesting evening. Our lesson for the evening was How to Figure Out the Will of God without Hearing Voices from Heaven. It was fun hearing everyone’s thoughts on the subject. Cheri’s peanut butter pie, pecan pie, and woppie pies were a hit. We didn’t have much left to bring home. After we got home Cheri had to watch Dancing with the stars and had guessed who would be voted off. After we went to bed around 11:30 pm we got a telephone call which we didn’t get to in time and a short time later come a knock at the door. Grandma’s neighbors were worry about her because her outside light was going on and off and they could see a light on in the bedroom. So we hurry over to see what was wrong. It turned out that Grandma was ok. Her security light has a motion detector on it with two light bulbs in it. With both bulbs screwed in the light goes on and off so I had unscrewed one of the bulbs so it would work correctly. Well apparently someone screwed in the other bulb to give her more light and the results was the security light started going on and off. I have had the bulb unscrewed for over 6 months, guess I should have taken the bulb out of the socket. Well it was after midnight before we got back home and we were wide awake so we turned on the TV for a while.

It started raining around 3:00 am and quit for about an hour around noon. I checked the rain gauge and we had 1 and 7/10 inch of rain. An hour later it was raining again and didn’t quit until round 9:00 pm. The guy did come around noon to clean the concrete off our 5th wheel that got splatter on there when they poured the concrete driveway next door. Being it rain all day Cheri and I stayed home and watched TV and did some reading. We did get a call from Kari which was a welcome as she doesn’t call us very often. She said the camp is full of dogs for spring break. It is the first time in three years that she has had a full camp, great news. Hopefully the economy is picking up and she can do better. No more news on this end today. I just checked the rain gauge and we got an additional 2 and 9/10 for a total of 4 and 6/10 in of rain for the day.

Our Sundays are pretty much the same each Sunday. We went over to check on Grandma before we left for church as she was going to church with Carol this Sunday. We found her door locked so we headed on to church. After church eight of us went out for lunch at the Texas Road House. We have been there before and it was very good. Then we headed back home to play a couple of games of SOB with Grandma. Just as we got done Grandma had company come so we headed home so I could watch the NASCAR Race. Cheri worked on her quilt hanging, which is looking very nice. I will post a picture of it when she gets it done. After the race was over we started watching some of the TV shows that we have recorded. It seem like we are getting farther behind and need to get caught up. By the time we went to bed we still had two episodes of each show we have recorded to watch. It is supposed to rain tomorrow, maybe we will get caught up then. Our weather is starting to get on the warm side and the last couple of days we have had to run the air conditioner. It sure beats the weather up north.

Jack had a motorcycle ride planned for today. It was taking the wife’s day. We had seven motorcycles and on car when we left. We made stop in Brooksville and pick up two more bikes. We were headed for Sleepy Hollow bar and grill; it is a biker’s bar in the back country along a river. It is a place that we guys visited a few weeks ago where you can have a steak dinner for $5.00, along with vendors and music. After we eat, visited, and listened to some music it was time for some of us to head back home. Bud and Joyce, Gary, Cheri and I were the first to leave as Bud and Joyce had to be back for church. The rest left later and went a different direction. We got home at 3:00 pm. It was a full ride. I put over 600 miles on the bike this week in fact I rode every day this week except for Sunday. When we got home we kicked back and relaxed watching TV. For pictures of the day see album: Sleepy Hollow Ride or go to this link

The day started out very early this morning. I woke up around 3:00 am and couldn’t go back to sleep. So I got up at 3:45 am. I had a lot on my mind this morning. I have been having computer trouble the last few days, not able to get on the internet to up load our blog and check on our banking. Also our neighbors had a new drive way put and when they poured the concrete it splattered on the front of our 5th wheel and they haven’t cleaned it off. Cheri was also a wake early and was up at 4:15 am, not sure what was on her mind. So we left for Wal-Mart at 6:00 am to pick up a few groceries. After we got home and put them away we decided to go to Golden Corral for breakfast. It was 7:00 am when we got there and they don’t open until 7:30 am. The managers said go on in and find a table and have some coffee until they open. So we were defiantly the first customers for the day. Our Golden Corral here in Zephyrhills is the best place to have breakfast bar none. They have a great selection of anything you could possibly want for breakfast. We were back home a little after 8:00 am and Cheri started doing our laundry and cleaning house. My neighbor came over and said that he would talk to the contractor that poured his driveway and have them come back and wash the concrete splatters off our 5th wheel. I know I could do it but I think the contractor should be responsible for his work. I went over to Grandma’s to see if I could upload our blog for the day on her computer but she doesn’t have a word processer on her computer so that didn’t work out. I came home and loaded the computer in the motorcycle and headed to Best Buy to see if they could fix my problem. They checked it out and said my problem was with the air card. So I left there and went to the Sprint store where I bought the air card and they could help me although they did try, they in turned send me to their store down in Tampa where they have tech support. After waiting an hour they told me that the air card was bad and would order me another one and I could pick it up on Tuesday after 4:00 pm. I asked them if they could give me one off the shelf and said no. I suppose it has to be a rebuilt one. I wasn’t happy about that but at least it’s not going to cost me anything. They had a retirement party for the managers from our park so Cheri took Grandma and went down to the Rec hall for that. I didn’t make it back in time for the party. Around 5:00 pm we went up to Paul and Bev’s place to visit and say good bye to them as they are leaving bright and early in the morning and heading back to the north country. We sure are going to miss them as we do a lot of things together.

Cheri and I left this morning at 9:00 am with the motorcycle headed for Parrish to visit with Cheri’s girlfriend Pat and her husband Roger from Maine. They had stopped here a couple of weeks ago to visit on their way down to Pat’s cousin’s place (Louis and Terri). We went out for lunch at a bar and grill right on the river where you can come by car or boat as they have a dock there. It was such a beautiful day so we eat outside by the water. We all had fish and chips and I must say it was the best Haddock we have ever had here in Florida. I wish this bar and grill was closer to our place. After lunch we went back to Louis and Terri’s and played a game of SOB. Before we knew it, it was 4:00 pm and time to head the bike for home. It was 5:30 pm before we got home and 142 miles later. After supper we went up to Paul and Bev’s to visit as they told us that they were leaving for the north in the morning. They weren’t home and figured that they were out for an evening walk because their truck was home. A short time later they stopped by our place for a visit and said that they weren’t leaving until Saturday morning, so we get another day to spend with them. My air card in the computer quit working, that’s why my blogs have been late the last few days. So as of 2:30 pm today (3-25-11) we are back in business.

This morning Bud, John, Jack, and I left at 9:00 am and headed for Orlando and stopped at the Harley dealer. John traded motorcycles. He traded in his 2007 Road King for a 2010 Heritage Soft Tail. He only had the Road King for a couple of months and was having some problems with it. I figured when he bought it that something had to be wrong with it because he got it from a Harley dealer with no guarantee for only $10,500. If there was nothing wrong with the bike it should have sold for around $15,000. So his good deal didn’t turn out to be so good. It was near 3:00 pm before he got the new bike and all the paper work signed. The rest of us looked at all the bikes they had for sale. They must have had at least 200 used ones. I looked at the used Road Kings and there must have been 25 or more and didn’t see anything as nice as the one I have. After a very late lunch at McDonalds we headed for home. I was the leader today, so I made a stop at another Harley dealer, they all wanted to know what we were stopping for. I said maybe John wants to trade bikes again. We all had a good laugh and headed on down the road for home. It was 5:00 pm and 138 miles later. Cheri had her quilt class today. It stated at 10:00 am and was to end at 2:00 pm. Well she wasn’t home when I got home; she came about 10 minutes later. She said there were only one other person in the class. So they continued working on the quilt until 5:00 pm. As soon as she got here she wanted to go up to Paul and Bev’s to show Bev what she was making. Being it was Wednesday night, we headed out for the spaghetti supper with Paul and Bev. When we got back we took a long walk around the park. It was 8:00 pm before we finally got home.

We got a wakeup call a little before 4:00 am. The carbon monoxide detector decided to let us know that it was time to change the batteries and it is located above the bed so we couldn’t ignore it. I couldn’t just open the battery door and disconnect it as there is a ring around it that is attached to the wall and I had to take out three screws to get it off the wall to remove the batteries. So there was no more sleep for us this morning. Cheri went to the flea market with Paul and Bev this morning. It was a play day for me as Bud and I went for a motorcycle ride today. We left at 9:30 am and took all the back roads we could find and headed north with no place special to go. We ended up in the Villages to see Bud’s cousin but she wasn’t home. We made our usual stop at Burger King for lunch. We made a couple more stops on the way home to take a break in the shade and visit a bit. We didn’t even make a stop at a Harley dealer today. We got home around 4:00 pm and put on 163 miles. Cheri wasn’t home when I got here. She was over visiting with Grandma. Cheri had a corn beef cooking in the crock pot. Cheri had bought the corn beef to have on Saint Patrick’s Day but that didn’t happen because of the other things we were doing at that time, so today was the day. This evening was our Life Group meeting and the lesson for this evening was How to be involved with Your Church without Letting It Eat You Up. It brought out a lot of good points to follow on to work in the church without getting burned out. It was another great day in the neighborhood that God has made for us.

I went over to Grandma’s this morning as she couldn’t get the door open to the shed. The ramp to the door had swelled up from being wet and was blocking the door. I removed the ramp and cut it down so now the door clears by ¾ of an inch, just a normal maintenance job. Cheri needed to make a trip to Jo-Ann Fabrics to pick up a few things for her quilt class. So we took the motorcycle as it was such a nice day. On the way to Jo-Ann fabrics we made a stop at Barnes and Noble’s book store and asked more questions about the Nook. After much discussion we ended up buying one. After we got done with Jo-Ann Fabrics we made a stop at Applebee’s for a late lunch. It was a nice motorcycle ride of 45 miles (too short). It was 3:00 pm before we got home and then we had to make a trip to Wal-Mart for a few groceries and my medicine. When we got home I went to work on setting up the Barnes and Noble e-book account so we could start using the Nook. I think I have one book downloaded to see if we want to buy it. I am pretty slow on all this new electronic stuff. Barnes and Noble have a class every Saturday at 10:00 am to show you how to use the Nook and answer any questions you have. So now you know where we are going Saturday. I grilled up a couple of New York strip steaks for supper, very good. Tonight is the first night for the new season of Dancing with the Stars. So you know what Cheri was watching this evening. Of course I had to watch with her.

Hey! Winter is over and spring has sprung. I think it started a couple of weeks ago here in Florida as the weather here has been great. Grandma didn’t go to church with us this morning as she went with Carol to church here in the Park. After church we usually go out for lunch but today everyone had other plans so we stopped on the way home a picked up a pizza at Papa John’s. We had enough for lunch and supper. At 1:15 pm we picked up Paul and Bev and headed downtown to the Tourist Club to see the Steve Jeffris and Robert Lee Crigger show. We had picked up our tickets a week ago and figured we would be about 45 minutes early and would be able to get good seats, wrong, the place was full when we got there and we had to set in the back. We had seen Steve a few weeks ago when he performed at our park. He once again did a great show. Robert Lee Crigger also did a pretty good show; he is a very good piano player. They did a few numbers together that were very good. It was around 4:30 pm when we got back home. Cheri worked on getting everything ready for her quilt class on Wednesday and I started watching the NASCAR Race I had recorded. At 7:00 pm we went up to Paul and Bev’s to play dominos which the girls won one and us guys won the other one. It was around 11:00 pm before we got home and I still had to finish watching the NASCAR Race. It was near midnight before we hit the hay.

It was our turn to clean church this morning. We were there at 9:30 am so we could get it done and have the rest of the day for ourselves. It was 12:30 pm before we got done. So we went around the corner to have lunch at Beer O Brady’s. It wasn’t very good and won’t be going back. Although we have been to the one in Dade City and it is very good. Strange how they can have the same menu and one is good and the other is bad. After lunch we headed to the Big Top flea market to buy a couple of sets of numbered dominos for Cheri’s girl friend from Maine. We had bought her a set a few years ago and they play with their friends and like the numbered dominos. It seems the only place you can get them is at a flea market here in Florida without paying the big bucks. We were going to go to the Lakeland flea market but it would be too late by the time we got there so we headed back home. Cheri got her material out and was putting together some of her fat quarters for a quilt class she is taking next week. I did some reading and tried to watch the NASCAR Race on TV and was having trouble staying awake. So Cheri and I took a motorcycle ride down to Plant City to the car show. It was another great show with a lot of cars on display. We even saw some that had been there before. It was around 6:30 pm before we got home. I finished watching the race and Cheri continued sorting out fat squares. Our weather has been the best down in the mid 50’s for the night and in the low 80’s during the day.

Today was tax day for us. We have been putting off working on getting our taxes done. Cheri work on them one day last week and today was the final push to get them done. With a little digging for papers and a lot of copying we got them done and in the mail by 1:30 pm. What a great relief it is to have that job done. Usually we have them don much earlier but we were waiting for some paper work to arrive. This afternoon we went over to Granma’s to play cards. She said she had company coming so we played cards until they arrived. Then we headed back home and tried to watch some TV but we both fell asleep, well the short nap was good for both of us. We left here a little after 5:00 pm to meet some of the people from our Life Group for dinner and a movie. We eat a Lee Roy Selmon’s sports grill and bar in Wesley Chapel and to see the movie Lord of the Dance 3D which stars Michael Flatley. It is a thunderous celebration of Irish music, song, and dance that has tapped its way onto the world stage thrilling millions of people around the world. It was an excellent performance o Irish dancing. It really wasn’t my cup of tea but I have to admit that I did enjoy it, Cheri was thrilled. Although the best part of the evening was being with close friends. Yes it was another great day in the neighborhood.

This morning was spent on the computer and paying bills. I found an over charge on our credit card. It was at a place that we had gone out to eat. It was only a $1.50 but if the person that did it does it to several people it would add up to a nice extra tip. We will be near that restaurant tomorrow evening and we will stop in and get it straighten out. Cheri and Bev wanted to go to Lakeland for a big quilt show today so we left here at 11:30 am. Out first stop was at the Chinese restaurant for lunch. I think we have only been there once this winter. Then Paul and I dropped Cheri and Bev at the quilt show and Paul and I stopped by the Verizon store as they had a problem with being over billed on their phone bill. Then we did a couple of Geo caches and were looking for the third one when Cheri called me and said they were done with the quilt show. We picked them up and headed for home. Cheri and Bev were a little disappointed with the show. It was more of a quilt fair with a lot of different people selling their wares and not that many quilts on display. Cheri had put in a bad night last night and so she took a nap late this afternoon. I spent some more time on the computer getting caught up on e-mails. I also listened to Rapture and Beyond by Larry Ollison. It was very interesting and I would recommend it to everyone.

John (70) Jack (73) Gray (66) Bud (75) Gay (67) The Riding Group |
Happy Saints Patrick’s Day, I hope everyone got their share of corn beef and cabbage. Cheri and Bev went shopping today. They went to Dade City to shop at the quilt store. I am sure they made some other stops to shop that they didn’t tell Paul and me about. I went for a motorcycle ride today. It was my turn to lead the group so we headed north to the chrome shop in Wildwood. It has every kind of chrome and lights you could ever want for a semi truck along with all the toys for the inside of the cab. From there we headed on north and wound up at the Harley dealer in Leesburg, where I bought a new tee shirt. Then we head south and stopped a Perkin’s for lunch. Then we headed on to the Harley dealer in Clermont where I bought another tee shirt. Then it was time to head for home. We got home around 4:30 pm and it was a wonderful day for a 182 mile ride. When I walked in the door Cheri said get ready because we are going out for Spaghetti supper with Paul and Bev at ABC’s Pizza place. After supper we went back to Paul and Bev’s place to play dominos which Paul and I won. It’s a great day when you can go for a motorcycle ride with friends, eat supper with friends and play games with friends. How can life get any better than that? Oh and by the way it was another beautiful day

The first thing this morning Cheri and Bev went and picked up some quilt patterns from some other ladies in the park to make copies of them. I took the garbage up to the dumpster and Paul caught me on the way back to stop in and have coffee with him. Cheri and Bev came back with the patterns and wanted me to make some colored copies for them. By the time all this was done it was about time for Roger and Pat to arrive. Pat is Cheri’s girl friend from Maine. They use to work together back in Maine before we got married. They are down until the end of the month. We went to Golden Corel for lunch and then back to our place to visit and teach them how to play SOB. We had a nice visit and then they left at 5:00 pm and are staying with Pat’s cousin that lives in Parish. This evening was our Life Group meeting and was another great time. Our lesson for the evening was How to look forward to Jesus’ Return without Becoming a Date-Setter. It was another great day in the neighborhood and perfect day weather wise.

We have hot water this morning. I was going to clean up the connections on the hot water heater today but as long as it is working I guess it will wait awhile (just lazy). We headed out to do a little shopping this morning. First we stopped a Home Depot to get some water filters as it is time to change them and regenerate the water softener. The next stop was the road side market to pick up some fixings for salads. Then we headed to Wal-Mart to pick up Grandma’s medicine along with a few groceries for us. When we got home we saw Paul and Bev outside so we walked up to visit with them for a while. After lunch I went down to see if Bud wanted to go for a motorcycle ride this afternoon but he wasn’t home. It was such a beautiful day in fact I think it was the nicest day we have had this year. Cheri and I took a motorcycle ride over to Wesley Chapel and stopped at Best Buy and Barnes and Noble to check out the Nook. We have been thinking about buying one and want to learn more about them. The Nook is an electronic book that you can down load books to it from Barnes and Noble. We stopped to have some ice cream on the way home. A motorcycle ride and ice cream makes for a perfect day. This evening we went down town to buy our tickets for the Steve Jeffris and Robert Lee Crigger show. They each perform their own shows in Central Florida and this one they are going to do together. It is going to be on Sunday afternoon and should be a good time.

We woke up once again to no hot water. Cheri wasn’t very happy about that but I did get it going again so I had hot water for my shower. I now think that some of the connections need to be cleaned up as I did some moving wires around and it started to heat water, some thing for me to work on tomorrow. Grandma went to church with us this morning and then after church seven of us went out for lunch at Lee Roy Selmon’s sports grill and bar in Wesley Chapel. It was another new place for us and it was very good. Lately we have been to several good new places to eat. We got home around 1:00 pm and Paul and Bev stopped by for a visit and had some pictures that they had taken of a car that their son is interested in and wanted me to e-mail them to him. We also had a nice visit with them and as soon as they left we headed out to Pam and Mike’s to play cards. They taught us a new card game called Hand and Foot. We had a lot of fun playing it. Pam and Cheri won two games and Mike and I did win one. It was a great evening to spend with close friends. It was midnight by the time we got home.

This morning I took the truck in to get the tire problem fixed. Paul picked me up. We stopped by a yard sale on the way home but didn’t see anything we needed. I was visiting with Paul and Bev when Cheri left for breakfast where they had a speaker on stress. It was put on by the church and Cheri said there were around 40 ladies present. Our hot water heater quit working and I checked the fuse which was ok. So I turned it back on and it started to heat so I am not sure what the problem was. Shortly after Cheri got home they called and said the truck was done so we walked over to get the van and Grandma rode along with us. On the way out of the park we stopped by the Rec hall to put our plates on a table to be ready for the pot luck supper this evening. I took the long way home to make sure the truck drove ok. They said that one of the tires was bad and put on a new one, glad to have the project done. After the pot luck supper we were invited down to LaVerne and Delores’s to play dominos and cards. It was a fun evening.

Gay March-10-11

It started raining around 5:00 am and didn’t quit until after 11:00 am. We ended up with 1 3/10 inch of rain. Cheri and I went and got Grandma’s van and took it over to Wal-Mart to fill it up with gas at $3.63 per gallon. There doesn’t seem to be any end to the fuel price as it goes up a few cents each day. I see that diesel is now $3.96 per gallon. It might be a short trip for us this summer. We picked up a few groceries while we were at Wal-Mart and then to a produce stand to get some strawberries. Cheri is going to make a strawberry pie for dessert to have when Pam and Mike come over this evening. When we got home I mowed the lawn as it was looking pretty ragged and need to be evened up and I also use the grass trimmer around the 5th wheel. Later this afternoon I took the truck out for a 25 mile drive to see if that was enough to get the wheel balancing powder to work. Well long story short the tires still aren’t balanced so I drove back to the tire store and they said they would order another tire and when it comes in they will contact me to bring in the truck to correct the tire balancing problem, he thinks maybe one of the tires is out of round. Mike and Pam came around 6:30 pm to go with us to the Steve Jeffris show down at the Rec Hall. He always puts on a great show for $7.00 per person. And he didn’t let us down as it was another great show and I must say it was a far better show than the Clint Black show that we saw at the Strawberry Festival. Pam and Mike hadn’t seen Steve Jeffris before and also that it was a great show. Cheri was having a lot of fun and was even selling his CD’s for him. After the show we came back to our place to play some cards and have some of the strawberry pie that Cheri made. It was a great evening to spend with close friends.

Gay March-9-11

At 8:00 am I took the truck downtown to have new tires put on the front. I was going to wait for the truck to be done but Bud and I planned a ride for today so he followed me down so we could leave it and they would call when it was done. Bud, John, Jack and I headed south this morning and made a stop at the Bradenton Harley dealer. It was a very windy ride as the wind pushed us around some. From there we headed for Anna Maria Island. The traffic was very heavy with a lot of stop and go. It was hot and the bikes didn’t like it and we didn’t either so we turned around and headed back. We made a stop at Burger King for lunch and to let the bikes cool off. Then we took a roundabout way home. It wasn’t quit as windy going back north. 170 miles later we were back home by 4:15 pm. Bud took me back down town to pick up the truck. The new tires are on and they put a balancing powder in the wheels instead of putting weights on them. They tell me most all the semi’s on the road use this to balance their tires. Will I took it for a ride and it wasn’t good; I had a bad shake in the front end so I went back to the tire place and told them about the problem. They failed to tell me that the powder is in a bag and I have to drive a ways so the bag will break and distribute the powder. I didn’t feel like heading out to where I could get the truck up to a speed to get the bags to break. Maybe tomorrow I will have time to do it. Cheri and Grandma we out for lunch at I-Hop’s in Dade City, then Cheri did some shopping and also stopped to visit with Bev.

Gay March-8-11

It was another laid back day for us. Paul called this morning and wanted to know if we wanted to go out to the flea market by the airport. Of course Cheri was ready to go. So they picked us up around 9:00 am. After we got there Cheri and Bev went one way and Paul and I another. I did buy a bottle brush to use on cleaning the spokes on the motorcycle. We watched some of the sky divers come down and saw one that had come down in the trees. He was far enough away that we couldn’t see if he got tangled in the trees or not. We did see a van drive in behind the trees and it wasn’t long before it came back out so we figured that everything was ok. It was noon before we got home. After lunch Cheri was doing some laundry and also took the van back over to Grandma’s so she would have it to go and play cards this evening. I worked all afternoon cleaning the motorcycle. I used the bottle brush on the spokes in the wheels and it did help in the cleaning. I didn’t think it was that dirty until I got stared cleaning. It was after 4:30 pm before I got done. I got the grill fired up and did some brats for supper. This evening was our Life Group meeting. It was another great gathering and we studied How to Have a Devotional Live without Becoming a Monk. It was an interesting evening.

Gay March-7-11

After our trip to the Strawberry Festival yesterday we were lazy getting around this morning. It was after 9:00 am before we were dressed and ready to face a new day. After an early lunch at 11:30 am we headed out to the Strawberry Festival for another day of fun. We met friends Charlie and Patti at 1:00 pm. We roamed around the grounds and saw everything that was going on for the day along with a few treats that are always available at fairs. At 5:30 pm it was time for Charlie and Patti to head for home. We walked them back to the entrance and said our goodbyes. We had tickets for the 7:30 pm Clint Black show. After all the walking we did in the afternoon we decided to go back to the car and rest for an hour. After our rest we put on our extra clothes as it was going to be a cool night. The good thing is the wind was pretty calm. We headed back in to find our seats for the show. Our seats for this show were closer to the stage than last night. We were disappointed with the show. It seemed like Clint was just going through the motions and didn’t care if he was there or not. The show only lasted an hour. I have added a couple of pictures of Clint and pictures of how they build the strawberry beds.

Gay March-6-11

Our Sunday morning was the same as last Sunday. After church we went out to eat lunch with friends from our Life Group. There were six of us and we went to Ruby Tuesday’s. It is the first time we have been there in over three years. The last couple of time we were there it wasn’t very good. But today it was very good today; we were told that they got a new manager which I guess made all the different. We got home around 1:00 pm. Cheri had to get her quilts loaded into the car as she had a quilt show down at the Rec Hall at 2:00 pm. So she left at 1:30 pm because she had to pick up Bev, Grandma, and Betty. Cheri got home around 4:00 pm and said there were about 40 people there and had a good time showing her quilts to them. There were other ladies showing their quilts also. I stayed home and started watching the NASCAR Race. We have tickets to the Straw Berry Festival in Plant City to see the Judds “The Last Encore” It is an outside sound stage and the show is rain or shine. Well we had rain last night and predictions for rain on and off for the day. The show is at 7:30 pm. I checked the hourly weather report and they have rain showers predicted for 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm and the temp for the evening is to be 47 degrees with wind gust of 15 mph. We put on extra clothes and took a big blanket with us. Well we didn’t get any rain and it was still 62 degrees when we got home. It was pretty windy but we also had a wind break where our seats were so it wasn’t too bad. The Judds put on a great show and we enjoyed it very much. It has been about twenty years since we last saw them. I also thought we would have a problem with the traffic getting out of the parking lot but that also went very smoothly. I have added a couple of pictures I took but they didn’t come out real well.

Gay March-5-11

It was a pretty quiet morning around here. Cheri worked on getting things ready to take to the baby shower that is this afternoon. I got out a security camera that I had bought some time ago to see if it would work on the back of the 5th wheel. The one I have now is wireless and never would give me a steady picture. This one is a hard wired one and will take some work to get it hooked up. So for now I just laid it out to see if it would work and looks like it will do the job. We left at 12:30 pm for the baby shower. It is for Ron and Sandy’s daughter (people from our life group) and is going to be at Mike and Pam’s place. Mike and I needed something to do while the girls were doing the baby shower so we headed out for Dade City to see the car show. It was a pretty good show; saw a few cars that hadn’t been there before. Ron had his corvette there and he walked around with us to look at the cars. Around 4:00 pm we headed back to Mike and Pam’s to pick up Pam and Cheri and went to the Bonefish Grill for supper. It is the first time that Cheri and I have been there and it was excellent. Then it was back to Mike and Pam’s to play dominos and SOB. It was almost midnight before we got home. What a fun day it was to spend with special people.

Gay March-4-11

I was up early this morning and had showered and dressed by 6:30 am as I had an appointment for a physical at the VA clinic at 8:00 am and had to be there by 7:30 am. I wanted to stop and get some donuts for the people at the clinic so I needed to leave the house by 7:00 am. So everything is good, right. Well not so as I looked at my paper work before I went out the door and my appointment wasn’t until 9:00 am, well more time to drink coffee. Cheri took Grandma grocery shopping and to pick up my medicine. After my physical I made a stop at the tire store and ordered new tires for the front of the truck, $600 installed, I thought that it was a little high but told them to go ahead and order them. Later this afternoon the guy called me and said that he miss quoted me on the tires and it would be $708 (said it was a computer mix up). What’s a guy to do, I told him to order them? When I got home Cheri told me to check my medicine as she thought they gave me the wrong medicine. It was in a new type of package that I have never had before. So we went back to Wal-Mart and sure enough it was wrong. After we got the right meds we headed for the hospital in Tampa so I could have an x-ray of my foot. Then the VA will contact me with an appointment to see one of their doctors. I hate to start over with my foot but I wasn’t happy with the other doctor as he wasn’t helping me. Cheri wanted to stop for an ice cream on the way home, have to keep the little lady happy and of course I wanted some too. We stopped and visited with Ed and Loraine as we had seen them for quite some time. Ed has been having a lot of trouble with is back and had just got back from having shot to help deal with the pain. We had a nice visit and got home around 4:30 pm. It was another great day in the neighborhood.

Gay March-3-11

I have been watching a couple of eagle cams which is very interesting. Last year I watched one nest that had two eggs hatched and raised, another where there were three eggs that hatched. It is something that I look at each day. It is fun to watch the eggs hatch and the eagles bring in food for the young. This is a link to one of the sites http://www.ustream.tv/channel/eagle-cam the other link is http://www.raptorresource.org/falcon_cams I hope you enjoy watching them as much as I do. We picked up Paul and Bev this morning and headed over to the flea market near the airport. I couldn’t believe all the people that were there. Cheri and Bev headed off by themselves and Paul and I headed in a different direction. Neither Paul nor I bought anything. Cheri and Bev each were able to find something to buy. Cheri bought some ear muffs; I asked her what she was going to do with them. She said when it gets down to 30 degrees she is going to wear them when she walks. It just goes to show we have turned into wimps since we have retired and being where it warm in the winter (most of the time). This afternoon we went over to Dean and Betty’s for a visit and played a couple of games of SOB. I was the lucky one today as I was the big winner. Then this evening Paul and Bev invited us up to play dominos. Paul and I won the first game which made five wins in a row. Well Cheri and Bev wonted us really bad the next game. All in all it was a great day in the neighborhood.

Gay March-2-11

I was up early this morning not able to have good nights sleep. Bud and I planned a motorcycle trip for today and it was my turn to lead the group. John, Gary, Jack, Bud, and I left at 8:00 am with the temp at 58 degrees and lots of sun. We headed north by way of a lot of back roads, I even found some that we hadn’t been on before. We made a stop at the Harley dealer in Crystal River where Bud bought a new Harley belt. Then it was on to Cedar Key which is on the Gulf Coast north of Crystal River. We were had made the trip once last year and enjoyed it so much we decide to do it again this year. We had lunch at the same place as before. After lunch and a few pictures we were on the road headed back to Zephyrhills. The ride was 248 miles and we got back at 5:00 pm. Paul had called this morning and wanted to know if we wanted to go to the flea market at Plant City. I told him I couldn’t go but Cheri would go. Cheri bought some strawberries so we had strawberry short cake for supper, also pulled pork that Cheri did in the crock pot. It doesn’t get any better than that.

Gay March-1-11

Shortly after I got up this morning it started to rain and was over by 9:30 am. We ended up with 2/10 of an inch. I figured it would be a good time to wash Grandma’s van with the dew and the rain it should be easier to wash. As soon as I got done Cheri took it and picked up Grandma to take her for her doctor’s appointment. It was a follow up visit from the cold she had. She told the doctor about a spot in her eye and the doctor said he had never seen anything like it before. So Cheri stopped at the eye doctor on the way home and got her an appointment for 1:00 pm. The eye doctor told her it was a small cist on the eye ball. If it didn’t bother her there wasn’t anything to worry about. If it did bother her later on she could have surgery on it and have it removed. While they were at the doctor I changed out the parts in Grandma’s toilet as it has been leaking. That was another good job to have done. This afternoon we went down to visit with Bud and Joyce. Bud and I set up our motorcycle ride for tomorrow. We had a good visit with a lot of laughs which is usually the case when we are visiting Bud and Joyce. This evening was our life group meeting. We studied a chapter on “How to Get Ready to Die without Pretending That It’s No Problem”. It was very interesting and we came away with a new outlook on dying.

Gay Feb-28-11

It is hard to believe it’s the last day of February already. Now that the weather has turned nice it seems like the days go faster and I get slower as I don’t get as much done as I use to. The belt on the air conditioner on Grandmas van has been squealing so today I got the tools out and tightened up the belt, no more squealing. Jeff came over and wanted to know if I had a voltage tester. He said they got a new electric grill and it doesn’t get very hot. He said that one outlet it would only get up to 150 degrees and he tried it in a different outlet and it got up to 250 degrees. I checked the outlets and they showed the proper voltage. I checked the new grill and found the power cord wasn’t plugged all the way into the grill. Problem solved it now heats up to 300 degrees. I saw Bud walk by and we have made attentive plans to go for a motorcycle ride Wednesday. Just before lunch we went to Wal-Mart to get Grandma’s medicine and a few groceries for us. On the way out we stopped at McDonald’s for lunch. After we got home and Cheri got the groceries put away we went up to Paul and Bev’s to see how Ted was doing. He was to have surgery this afternoon to put the stint in to the kidney. Cheri put in a bad night last night so she took a nap this afternoon and I worked on insurance papers as I thought the doctor’s office was double dipping me on charges. After a couple of hours of going through the paper work and some internet searching it looks like everything is ok. Late this afternoon we went to drop off Grandma’s medicine and play a couple of games of SOB which Cheri won.
