Sam
and Conrad came a little pass 9:00 am to remove the forms from the driveway and
clean up the concrete. I removed the forms from the sidewalk and then helped
them clean up. It was noon before we got done. After lunch Cheri had to leave
for the physical therapy on her knee. I went back and did some more cleanup. I
still have to put the dirt around the outside of the driveway, going to wait for
the concrete to cure some. Then I moved the Hibiscus from the front of the
house to the back by the fence. I wanted to get that moved before I put up the
awnings over the front windows. The awnings should be here around the middle of
next week. When Cheri got home she worked for a little while in the sewing room
before joining me in the recliners. We watched a little TV or I should say
Cheri did as I took a nap. This evening Mike and I had security duty from 9:00
pm until 11:00 pm. We did start early and it was really quite so we quit early.

I
was up early again this morning to be ready for the concrete guys that said
they would be here between 6:30 am and 7:00 am. Well they did arrive around
7:15 am and the cement arrived on time at 8:00 am. Things went along pretty
good but toward the end the cement was setting up before they were ready for
it. It does look nice now that it is finished. They were still working on it
when we left for Cheri’s appointment in Wesley Chapel. When we got home they
were gone and things were cleaned up as much as they could. They will be back
tomorrow to remove the forms. I was happy that I put in the forms for the
sidewalk yesterday because there was enough cement to finish the sidewalk. That
was cement that I paid for and wouldn’t have got to use it. I don’t know how
much more there was left but got done what I wanted to. While I was working
with the cement Cheri did laundry, clean house, and worked in the sewing room.
This evening I needed to go out and wet down the concrete, well the rain came
and I didn’t have to do that.

I
had a down day as I didn’t sleep well and my back and hip is hurting today.
Cheri said that the pool was just about over flowing from all the rain we got
yesterday. I did do my exercise this morning and that was all I could do. Cheri
was only home a short time after her pool exercise and then left for her physical
therapy on her knee. Pam and Mike had given us a DVD of Dr. Larry Ollison
message that they attended when they were in the Lake of the Ozarks. So I
watched it while Cheri was gone. It was about Man’s Days on the Earth and The
Paradise of God, leading into the Millennium. As soon as Cheri got home I told
her she needed to watch it and I watched it again with her. I got a call from
Sam the concrete man telling me that he would be here between 6:30 am and 7:00
am tomorrow as the cement truck will be here at 8:00 am. So we will see if it
really happens. Sam said that he ordered extra cement to be sure he had enough
so late this afternoon I went out and formed up for a sidewalk from the new
concrete to the back entry for any leftover cement from the driveway.

I
was up at 5:00 am this morning to get ready for the arrival of the cement
truck. Well around 7:00 am I got a call from Sam to let me know that there
wouldn’t be any cement work done today and the next date is Thursday morning.
For some reason I wasn’t surprised, I have learned that is the way things
happen here in Florida. It all worked out for the good as it gave me extra time
for my quite time and Bible study. We had dentist appointments this forenoon,
Cheri at 10:00 am and me at 11:00 am. We both went over together and Cheri got
in right on time and was done in half hour. By 11:15 am we were done and on our
way home. On the way home I asked Cheri if she wanted to go to Old Time Pottery
in Brandon to look at plant pot. She was up for it and wanted to stop by Mike
and Mary’s to see if they wanted to go along. They said they would like to go
so our first stop was Wendy’s for lunch as we still had some coupons to use. We
looked at a lot plant pots and with the help of a store clerk we found some we liked
so we got four of them. We really wanted five but they only had four which is
all we need for the front of the house. We wanted one more for the area by the
front door. From there we headed to Plant City to stop at Southern Hospitality to
check on what they had for plant pots and didn’t see anything we liked. Mike
and Mary bought a painting to hang in their bedroom. It was after 4:00 pm
before we got home and had wonderful day with Mike and Mary. It started raining
round 7:00 pm and rained really hard until 8:30 pm. I checked the rain gauge
and we received 2 ¾ inches.

Memorial
Day (Decoration Day) is not a day to celebrate; it is a day to honor our veterans
and their families for what they have done and are doing for us so we can have
the freedom we have today. When you see a veteran, thank him for what his time
in the service of our country. Being a veteran myself and when someone thanks
me for my service it makes me feel really proud and lifts my spirits. The concrete
man (Sam) came this morning to get things ready to pour concrete tomorrow
morning. I took a break late morning to get cleaned up to go down to the hall
for a potluck dinner here in the park. Then it was home to do some more work on
the framing project. Cheri spent her time in the sewing room. Cheri got a call
from Pam and Mike wanting to meet us for supper at the Village Inn. Ron and
Sandy couldn’t make it as they were spending the evening with their daughter
and grandson. After supper we went over to Mike and Pam’s to play Aggravation,
Pam and Cheri won two out of the three games we played. They taught us a new
game called Skip-Bo. We hadn’t played it before, it was a fun and interesting game,
have to do some thinking before you play, not a game to play and have a conversation
at the same time. Pam and Cheri also won that game, not a good night for Mike
and me.

We
picked up Grandma at 9:00 am and took her to church with us. Pastor Dean had
another great message and a wonderful salute to all the veterans along with
some great music. After church seven of us went to Sonny’s for lunch. We had a
good lunch and a nice long visit before heading home. It was another very hot
and humid day. I spent the rest of the day in the recliner watching the Indy
500 and then the NASCAR Memorial 600. Cheri watched a little with me but spent
most of the day in her sewing room. I thought we were going to get some rain
late this afternoon as we could hear the thunder in the north and west of us. There
were strong thunder storm warnings on the TV for our county but we never did
get any rain.

We
didn’t have a very good night. I was awake early and finally got up at 4:00 am.
I couldn’t get my mine to settle down, thinking about the awnings and the
concrete work that is going to be done today. Cheri was up a little before 6:00
am. Cheri fixed pancakes for breakfast after breakfast I went out and move the
van and motorcycle so they would be out of the way for the workers. I heard
Cheri running the vacuum and doing some house cleaning before she headed to the
sewing room. I also worked in the back yard in case they have some dirt left
over as I need some back there and also some along the side of the house where
I buried the water line. I was told the workers would be here between 8:00 am
and 9:00 am, they showed up at 11:00 am. That is one thing I have learned about
Florida is no one is on time (a pet peeve of mine). When they left today they
said they would be back Monday to finish getting the forms ready and pour
concrete on Tuesday morning (I doubt it). I worked some this afternoon in the
shop, aired up the bicycle tires. It has been a couple of months since I last
rode it and the tires were really low on air which made it hard to ride. Today
was our hottest day for the year so far, low 90’s and high humidity.

It
was a busy day for the Sharps. After all the exercising was done it was time to
face the rest of a very hot day with temps in the low to mid 90’s and high
humidity. Cheri got our laundry done early and headed for the sewing room. This
forenoon she finished one panel of the six panels Christmas wall hanging. I
went over to the neighbor’s and got the new fill valve installed in her toilet,
front door fixed, and the outside faucet leak repaired. It was near noon before
I got done and the tools put away. After lunch Cheri and I went to a different
place to look at window awnings for the front of the house. We found just what
we were looking for and ordered them, should have them in the next week or two.
From there we went to a plant nursery on
the north west side of town that I found on the internet which I had rode the
motorcycle by a few time and had forgot it was there. We got to talk to the owners
and they were a great help in picking out what we wanted. We have decided to wait
until we get the new awnings up as the plants would be in the way to install
the awnings. Then Cheri wanted to go to Jo-Ann’s to get some fabric for the
next panel of her Christmas hanging. We also stopped at Sam’s to look at plant
pots that we were told about at the nursery. Cheri thought that they were too
big and we have another place we want to check out in Brandon. Late this
afternoon I got a call from one of the cement contractors and he came around
6:30 pm to give us an estimate. Long story short we ended up signing a contract
and were told that he is going to start tomorrow, so we will see if he is a man
of his word.

My
back is hurting today and aching joints, plus it was hot and high humidity, not
a day to be working outside. After we got our exercise done and ready to face
the day, Cheri made chicken and dumplings to have for lunch and supper. Then she
disappeared in the sewing room. I went next door to talk to our neighbor about
what I wanted to do on adding concrete and a bigger carport. I didn’t need her
approval but thought it was the right thing to do. We talked for while and told
her if there was anything I could do to help her to let me know. She said she
was having trouble with her toilet. I checked it out and she needs a new fill
valve, told her I would pick one up and install it for her. It was near noon
when I got back to the house. I made a couple of calls to see about getting
someone to come and give us an estimate on the concrete work. After lunch Cheri
and I went to Lowe’s to get the toilet parts and look at plants for the front
of the house. We also checked on watering systems for the plants. We aren’t sure
what we want and need to go to a place where we can get more information like a
plant nursery. We thought we knew where one was on the south side of town because
when we drive by there are a lot of plants out in front, when we got there and
drove in it was really and outside vegetable and fruit stand. We did buy a watermelon
while we were there. We made one more stop to see about awnings for the front
of the house. We want the see though awnings and are having trouble finding a
place that sells them. The place we stopped at use to sell them and told us
they could order them but didn’t have any good information on how to measure
for them. So I need to do some more searching for them.

Things
were very different for me this morning as the computer was still being worked
on, so I thought as the screen had the message don’t use the mouse or keyboard
which it has while they are remotely working on it. So this morning I couldn’t
do my blog and got my news from the newspaper. It has been a long time since I read
the paper. Cheri did her pool exercise class and I did my exercising here at
home. I headed out at 9:45 am to take Grandma to the doctor to get her B-12
shot. I was back home by 11:00 am and the computer screen hadn’t changed so I
called them and was told that they had lost the connection to our computer. I
was upset that they didn’t contact me to get reconnected. Long story short I
got the computer back around 2:00 pm. We also made a trip to Dade City to get license
plate renewals for the van, motorcycle, and Grandma’s park model. When we got
home Cheri worked in the sewing room and I was able to catch up with my
computer work. We met Ron and Sandy at Wendy’s for supper at 6:00 pm and then
to church for our last Wednesday night Grow 101 classes. It was another great
evening with Pastor Earl doing the presentation. We are already looking forward
to the Grow 201 classes that will be coming in the future. The temp for the day
was in the mid to high 80’s and the humidity has returned.

I
had computer trouble this afternoon and had remote access work on it and was
off line for over 24 hours. So anyway I worked on the water line and got that
completed except for needing some addition dirt and grass seed or sod would probably
be better, need to think about that for a while. Cheri did her pool exercise class
and then had an appointment over in Wesley Chapel late morning. So I had lunch
by myself and then at 1:00 pm I had a security meeting at the club house. When
Cheri got home she called me to see where I was and told me she was going to
Wal-Mart. I got home around 2:00 pm and called tech support to work on the
computer. We had left over burgers and potato salad for supper. Cheri never not
a chance to work in the sewing room today, said that with everything that went
on today she didn’t feel like working on any projects. Late this afternoon I
put the new switch in the power miter saw, so that is back in service again.
This evening we watched Dancing with the Stars and Cheri said they got it right
and was happy the way it turned out.

Cheri
was off to her pool exercise at 7:45 am this morning, started earlier as Mary
had an appointment later. I went out right away to work on the water line. I
had a good morning working on it until I ran out pipe fittings. I wasn’t able
to run the line the way I had planned because of the footing and had to dig
under it so it took some extra pipe fittings. We had a couple of appointments
over in Wesley chapel this afternoon which took longer than we thought and didn’t
get home until a little after 5:00 pm. We did stop at Home Depot to get the
pipe fittings I needed. Cheri work for a little while in the sewing room and I sat
in the recliner with the heating pad on my back. Cheri fixed potato salad along
with a hamburger I did on the grill a couple days ago, been a long time since
we have had hamburgers and tasted really good. We watch a movie and a couple
other shows and then head to bed. We always watch a little TV in bed and so were
checking to see what we had recorded. Well there was Dancing with the Stars we
both forgot that it was Monday and it was Dancing with the Stars night. So we
had to watch it or I should say Cheri did as I miss some of it as I couldn’t
stay awake.

It
was another beautiful day with a high in the mid 80’s but the humidity is
starting to return. We picked up Grandma at 9:00 am and headed to church. After
church Ron, Sandy, Grandma, Cheri and I went to a new place down in New Tampa for
lunch called Glory Days Grill, a sports bar and grill with TV’s everywhere. The
food was very good and we will be going back again. The food is a little pricey
but when you get a good meal it’s not so bad. We got home around 1:00 pm. Cheri
headed for the sewing room and I went outside and started working on the new
water line and faucet for the flower bed. I only lasted about an hour and a
half, got too hot as I was working right in the sun. We called Larry and Denise
to see how they were doing and are busy getting their spring cleaning done and
that they are still have freezing temps at night. Then it was the recliner the
rest of the day for me and a while later Cheri joined me. We both took a short
nap and watched TV. Cheri fixed pizza for supper and we watched the last episode
of the Amazing Race, we were happy with who won. We also watched a couple
episodes of American Restoration and then called it a night.

It
was another great weather day; it was 57 degrees this morning and like
yesterday warmed to mid 80’s with very little humidity. We had to get around
this morning as we had to meet Ron and Sandy at church at 8:00 am. The church
was putting on a pancake and egg breakfast along with sausage, bacon, coffee,
and juice to raise money for the two mission trips this year. So we had a good
breakfast along with some wonderful fellowship. After breakfast Cheri and I
headed to the Wiregrass Shops to visit the Farmers Market that they have every
other Saturday. Cheri has been wanting go so today was the day to do it. We
bought some nice vegetables and some fresh baked bread. From there we went to
Sam’s to pick up a few things we needed and then to Best Buy to spend a $25.00
rewards certificate as it was about to expired. I bought a set of speakers for
the computer. I had been using the same speakers for the computer and kitchen
TV, now I won’t have to keep moving the speaker input cord back and forth. We
got home at 1:30 pm. I wasn’t going to do anything this afternoon but the
weather was just too nice to stay inside. Cheri headed to the sewing room and I
worked in the shop, got another piece of pegboard mounted and some more stuff
sorted. I also did some weed spraying around the neighbor’s house. Late this
afternoon we did a Skype call with Bill and Barb from Fox Lake Wisconsin, we
got caught up on the spring weather, and the farmers are behind on getting
their crops planted. This evening we watch a couple shows on TV and then it was
time to watch the NASCAR race, another good race and another late night.

What
a great day it was, 64 degrees this morning, no humidity, fluffy clouds, and a
nice breeze. The high temp for the day 80 and that wasn’t until 4:00 pm. So you
can see it was a feel good day and I wanted to get some work done. I measured
up what I needed to move the laundry sink in the shop and what I needed to
install a water faucet near the front of the house to use to water the plants
we plan on putting in this year. Cheri continues to work on her Christmas
project. She showed me what she has done so far and it looks much better than
the pattern picture. This afternoon I headed over to Lowes and pick up the
materials for the laundry sink and outside faucet. I also did some dreaming on
what I wanted or might use for a watering system when we get the plants in. I
need to do more studying on that. I did get the laundry sink done and fastened
to the wall something that was never done. It was 4:00 pm and too late to start
something else. When I came in Cheri was sitting in the recliner, she didn’t
have a good night sleep so a nap was on the list for her. Cheri had pork chops
out along with some hamburgers to be gilled up for supper and a future meal. So
it was a great day in the neighborhood that God made for us.

There
was a 60 percent chance for rain today so I didn’t have anything planned for
today. After coffee and breakfast I checked out the weather map and the rain
was a couple of hours away and it was overcast. So I got the power washer out
and started power washing the house. Things went well and I got most of it
done. I still need to do the shed and carport. I would like to do the roof of
the carport to see if I can get the grim and dirt stains from all the years
that have built up on it. I need to buy an extension power wash hose before I
can attempt that project. I was done at noon and pooped, but felt better after
I got cleaned up and had lunch. Yep Cheri spent the morning in the sewing room.
I had checked the water softener and it was very low on salt. Being Cheri had
some errands to run I went with her to get the salt. By the time we got done
with everything it was 4:00 pm. Oh yes the rain came just before we headed out
to do the errands, so it was good timing for us. I did some internet searching
on insurance policies for home systems, ended up purchasing one for the air
conditioner, water heater, water softener, and a few other things. I mainly
wanted it for the air conditioner because a new one is around 7 to 9 thousand
dollars and ours is around 7 years old. I didn’t even know there were insurance
plans for the house appliances and systems. When we were out to eat supper last
night with Ron and Sandy, Ron was telling me how he saved money on a new water
heater because they had the insurance.

I
wasn’t that ambitious today, so I didn’t get much of anything done today. I was
back to my usual routine, exercise, shower, and Bible study before facing the
day. I spent my time out in the shop sorting through more stuff. Cheri did her
house cleaning this morning and then made a trip to Hobby Lobby to get some
material for her quilt project. This afternoon I spent time taking the miter
saw apart as the switch burned out again. The switch that is supposed to go in
it is no longer available and searched for a replacement. I think I have found
one that will do the job and ordered it this afternoon; it should be here the middle
of next week. The weather report was a 60 percent chance for rain starting
around 2:00 pm. We did hear some thunder but no rain; in fact we didn’t see any
rain until we were on our way to meet Ron and Sandy for supper at Wendy’s. When
we left Wendy’s and on our way to church it rained so hard that we could only
go around 20 mph. Our Grow 101 class was once again very good, sure enjoyed the
series. When we got home we still hadn’t got any rain and then around 9:30 pm a
little shower came through, hardly enough to get the grass wet.

It
was another great day to get some outside work done. I started the same time as
Cheri left for the pool. I got the rest of the carport roof cleaned off and the
gutters clean out. Then I finished raking the back lawn. After that I was ready
for a break and a cup of coffee. Cheri continues to work in her sewing room. I
think she is in another world and in deep thought picking out the materials for
her project. Once again she amazes me how much she gets done. I went back
outside and got my pegboard cut and put up in the shed. It was noon and time to
quit and get cleaned up for the day. After lunch I went over to get Grandma and
take her to the bank, to Wal-Mart to have her hair cut and get groceries. It was
near 4:00 pm when I got home. I hadn’t done my morning exercise so today it was
an early evening exercise, guess it doesn’t make any different when you do
them, as long as you do it. Then it was time to do my Bible study which is
something I also do in the morning. We were supposed to have some rain again
today but just like yesterday we didn’t get any. It was a warm day with a temp
in the high 80’s, also had a nice breeze all day.

Cheri
headed for the pool and I headed outside to get some work done before it got
too hot. It was an overcast morning so that helped. I used the blower and blew
off the pollen and small twigs that were on the house roof. Most of the house sits
under a large Oak tree so we get a lot of debris from it. It turned out to be a
bigger job than I thought it would be. I still have the carport to complete but
my back wouldn’t take anymore. I did a little tree trimming for the neighbor.
He has three palm trees that grow suckers that need to be trimmed before they
bloom and today was the day to get it done. Then I did a little lawn raking in
the back yard which was long overdue. Once again my back told me when I had
done enough. I had found a weed killer recipe on Face book using Dawn dish
washing soap, Epson salts, and vinegar. I mixed up some and sprayed some weeds
in the back yard. I will check tomorrow to see if worked. It was noon when I came
in to get cleaned up and have lunch. Cheri was busy fixing Swiss steak in the
crook pot for supper. She also spent most of the day in the sewing room working
on a new project which looks like it is going to take her some time to get it
done. We hadn’t checked our Skype for a long time and found that Cheri’s sister
Sharleen is also on Skype, long story short they got together and had a nice
long visit. I packed up the telescopic power washer extension I had bought and
got it ready to return. It was nice but too heavy for me to use.

Happy
Mother’s Day, bless all of them because without them none of us would be here. We
picked up Grandma at 9:00 am and headed for church. Pastor Dean had a good
Mother’s Day message. After church Ron & Sandy went out for lunch with us.
We eat that Hibachi Japanese in Wesley Chapel, always a good place to eat.
While we were there Ron and Sandy said they were going to go to the outlet mall
in Ellenton to return some things that they got last weekend and wanted to know
if we wanted to ride along. So after lunch we took Grandma home and then back
to meet Ron and Sandy at Home Depot. Ron had left an expensive pair of sun
glasses in a fitting room when they were there last weekend and they were gone
when he went back to check. He had left his name and telephone number for them
to call. Long story short Ron bought a new pair today and then sat and waited
for Cheri and Sandy to shop. I asked Ron if he wanted to go to the store where
he left them to check and see if anyone turned them in. He said that he didn’t
think it would do any good. Long story short we realized we were close to the
store, so we went and check and sure enough they had them, one happy Ron. After
the girls got done shopping we headed over to a restaurant on the water. We
were only going to have a cold drink and then decided to have a bite to eat as
it was already 4:00 pm. We had a fun time shopping and visiting. It was 6:30 pm
when we arrived home. Cheri got Mother’s Day calls from Nikki, Kari, and an
e-mail from Darren that made Cheri’s day.

It
was another hot day in Florida and I am starting to get use to the hot summer
weather. I didn’t feel like doing anything today so wasn’t in any hurry to get
around and ready for the day. I did some more internet searching on power
washer extensions and decided to go to Home Depot to get one, they didn’t have
the one I was looking for even though they show that they did on the internet.
So we went to Lowe’s to see what they had and luck was with me as they had a
better one then the one I thought I wanted. I also bought a sheet of peg board,
I wanted a half sheet but they only sell it in full sheets. I found it the same
way at Home Depot. It was lunch time when we got home, Cheri fixed a very good
chicken and lettuce salad. After lunch I put the power washer extension
together and realized that it was too heavy for me to handle, plus it was
longer than I thought I needed. So tomorrow I am going to box it up and return
it. Being it was too hot to work outside (90 degrees), I headed to the recliner
to rest. Cheri continued working on her Halloween table runner and finished it
late this afternoon. I did some searching around on the TV and found a new show
on the History Chanel called American Restoration. It was very interesting and
watched several episodes as they were running a marathon of shows. This evening
it was time to watch the NASCAR race. It was a very good race and the fact that
my man Jeff Gordon won made it even better. Cheri gave up and headed to bed
before the end of the race, it was a little after midnight before it was over.

I
did things a little different this morning. As soon as Cheri left for her pool

rain gutters and they were full of leaves, should have cleaned them a month or
so ago (not one of my favorite jobs) Then I took the barbeque grill all apart
and got the power washer out to give it a good cleaning (another job that I don’t
like), I must say it was a lot easier with the new power washer. I was done
with both of these projects by noon. I was ready for my shower, excise work
out, and quite time for my Bible study which are things I do first thing in the
morning. Cheri did laundry, Cleaned house, and worked in the sewing room. Cheri
fixed us a spinach salad for lunch which was very good. Late this afternoon I
planned on going to Home Depot to see about a power washer extension to wash
the house. Well that didn’t happen as I was lazy and didn’t want to leave the
recline, plus my back was hurting from the work I did today. This evening Mike
and I had security, what a nice warm evening to be out and about. We start at
9:00 pm and go until around 11:00 pm if nothing is going on and this time of
the year it’s pretty quite. Cheri was still up when I got home. We had a lot of
sunshine and a high temp of 90 degrees.

Last
night while we were at church UPS delivered my power washer. So this morning I
was excited to get it unpacked and put together. Well the side of the carton
that it came in was split up the side and parts hanging out the side. I was
sure there would be parts missing. It must have been put through the UPS box
crusher. Well there were no missing parts but the pressure hand gun had the safety
guard broken. Before I assembled the power washer I went in and called the
company customer service to see about getting a replacement for the broken gun.
I was told to fax them a copy of my sales receipt, model & serial number,
part number and they would send me a replacement. So back to the assembly
process and found some bent parts that I was able to straighten out. While I
was doing all of this Cheri went shopping for groceries. When she got home it
was time for lunch. After lunch I finished the assembly process and then went
to Staple’s to fax the in the information and then a stop at the gas station to
get gas for the power washer. Long story shorter, the power washer works great.
I used it on the van to remove the Love Bugs and washed down part of the
carport concrete. I was done by 3:00 pm, hot and tired. Cheri was busy in the
sewing room and is just about done with her latest project.

My
back is feeling some better this morning and was able to get back to my
exercise while Cheri was at the pool doing her exercise class. The plan for
today was a road trip with Mike and Mary to Lakeland to meet Norm and Marlene
along with Marlene’s brother Willis and his wife Phyllis. We figured on meeting
them at Fred’s for a late lunch at 2:00 pm. Well Mike and I dropped Cheri and
Mary off at Jo-Ann Fabrics and we went to Harbor Freight. Just as we were
leaving Harbor Freight Mike spotted Norm and Marlene’s van in the parking lot.
So we looked around in the store and sure enough we saw Norm and Willis. We
visited a bit and then went out to talk to Marlene and Phyllis who was waiting
in the van. We all left at the same time and went to Jo-Ann’s to pick up Mary
and Cheri but Marlene and Phyllis had to go in to check out a few things. After
all was said and done we were at Fred’s by 2:00 pm. We had a nice lunch and a
long visit. It was a little pass 4:00 pm when we arrived home. We rested for a
while and passed on supper because of our late lunch. At 6:15 pm we headed to
church for our Grow101 class. It was about prayer and how it brings us into an
encounter with the Living God. Once again the evening was over before we knew
it. We got home at 9:00 pm, watched a little TV and called it a night. What a
wonderful day it was, spending time with friends and learning about God.

There
was a nice aroma drifting through the house today, Cheri had the crock pot
going with a beef roast, carrots, onions, and potatoes. While Cheri was at the
pool I tried to do my exercise again but my back said no, although it is
getting better. I had ordered medicine back on April 16 to be mailed to the
house. I usually receive it in about a week and still haven’t received it. So I
took a motorcycle ride down to Tampa to find out what the problem was. Well it
turns out that nothing was done, so after waiting half an hour I had my
medicine and was on my way home. It is now Love Bug season and was surprised
that I didn’t hit any on the way down, but on the way home they were out in
full force and the windshield on the bike was covered with them. So after lunch
I did some cleaning on the bike and did get the windshield cleaned, need to
give the bike a complete cleaning but that is for another day. I spent the rest
of the day in the recliner. Cheri continues to work in the sewing room making
good progress on her quilt project. The supper Cheri fixed was excellent and
enough for a couple more meals.

Cheri
and I both are having a bad back day. Cheri did say hers felt better after
doing her pool exercise. I tried doing my exercise and had to quit as the back
was hurting too much. I put on my back brace that I wear when I ride motorcycle
and then went out and worked in the shed for a couple hours. I quit around
11:00 am and headed for the recliner and spent the afternoon reading, napping,
and watching TV. Cheri spent most of her time in the sewing room. I was
surprised how much she had done to her latest project, she had already done
what I thought would take her a week or more to get done. Mike and Pam are
leaving Wednesday for a few weeks to visit family and friends up north. So we
had plans to go out for supper this evening. We picked them up at 5:15 pm and
headed to On-Q for our evening meal. It has been over a year since we were last
there, very good food. After we eat we took a ride out through the country side
north and west of Dade City. I got Pam and Mike home by 8:00 pm so Pam could
watch Dancing with the Stars. We were home by 8:20 pm and settled in to watch
Dancing with the Stars; we had it recorded so we wouldn’t miss any of it. Cheri
and I had a different opinion on who was going to get voted off. I was right
about who got voted off but Cheri out did me on the voting.

The
rain is gone and we had a beautiful sunshine filled day with a nice warm temp. I
was starting to get a little depressed with the rain and cloudy days, plus my
bad back didn’t help. Grandma went to church with us. We had a guest speaker today;
he talked about having a long and loving marriage. I think Cheri and I with 46
plus years have done OK. But it never hurts to hear some things that could make
it better. The down side was the speaker talked faster than an old man like me
could hear. After church five us went out for lunch at Bob Evans, it was very
busy and had to wait about twenty minutes to get seated and then waited over
half an hour to get severed, it was because they were so busy. It was around
1:30 pm when we got back home. My back was still hurting today so I finished
the day in the recliner watching the NASCAR race that I had recorded. Cheri
spent the afternoon in the sewing room and started a new quilt project, a Halloween
table runner.

It
was still raining when I got up this morning, late morning it turned to a mist
and was that way the rest of the day. The afternoon was breezy with a high of
72 degrees. Cheri fixed us a big breakfast of scrambled eggs, ham, onions with
English muffins, no lunch today. Cheri worked all day in the sewing room and
finished another quilt project; it is a table runner for 4th of
July. I worked outside in the shed for about an hour and my back went out so
that ended my day. I spent most of the day in my recliner watching TV and
reading. We called Darren to let him know that Cheri got the flowers that he
sent and had a nice long visit with him.
He is worried about his job as they have been lying off a lot of people.
Later this afternoon we went to Winn Dixie to get groceries. On the way to the
grocery store I told Cheri it would be a good day for soup and she said that
was what she had already planned for supper. So we had some good bean soup with
left over ham added to it.

It
started raining around 7:30 am and rained all day and was still raining when we
went to bed. I check the rain gauge and we got 1 ¾ inches. So with the rain
Cheri didn’t have any exercise class this morning. She had the laundry done by
9:00 am and was ready to head to the sewing room. I headed out to the shed to work.
I wanted to move some things back to the other shed but didn’t because of the
rain. I did do some sorting and put up all the peanut jars, fastened them to a
shelf over the work bench. They are nice for screws and other small things; you
can see what is in them without taking them down. I also installed a dust
collector on my table saw. After lunch Cheri and I played a game of Hand, Knee,
and Foot. It lasted for almost two hours and was a close game until the last hand;
Cheri came out with the win. Then it was time to get ready and go to New Tampa
for supper with Mike & Pam and Ron & Sandy. We all had purchased a
Groupon for a Greek restaurant that none of us had been to before, called
Little Greek Restaurant. The food was excellent and we all decided we need to
go again sometime. While we were waiting for our food to come Cheri got a call
from our son Darren. He had sent flowers to Cheri for Mothers Day and had gotten
an e-mail that they had been delivered and wanted to know how they looked. They
hadn’t come before we left so we knew they would be there when we got home. From
there we all headed to church for an evening of prayer, worship and testimony.
It was very interesting and we really enjoyed it. It was 9:30 pm when we got
home. The flowers were waiting for Cheri on the door step.

Hey!
What happened to April, where did it go? I can’t believe it is May already.
Cheri got to sleep in this morning as Mary and Mike had to take their dog to
the vet so there wasn’t any exercise class this morning. Cheri showed me an
advertisement on a new power washer from Lowe’s. I have been looking for a new
one that has more power (isn’t that what we guys are always looking for). It
has 2700 PSI and a gas engine which you have to have for a high power washer.
So that got me to looking and found one on line at Home Depot that was on sale
if you bought it on line. It has 3000 PSI and only $20.00 more, plus free
shipping to our home. I checked out the reviews on it and all were very good
except for one. Long story short I ordered it and should be here in five to ten
days. Cheri did laundry this morning and has a big smile each time she uses the
new washer and dryer. Then she disappeared into the sewing room. I went out and
worked in the shed. I got the electrical work done; now it is back to sorting
tools and materials. Cheri talked to Pam today and said that she is feeling
better and decided we needed to go out for supper. So Mike and Pam picked us up
4:30 pm and we went to Mainly New England for fish. It was very good and then
came back to play a game of Hand, Knee, and Foot. Toward the end of the game it
looked really bad for Mike and I but in the end we pulled off a win, of course
Pam and Cheri weren’t too happy. We were supposed to get a lot of rain today
but ended up with a little shower while we were eating supper.

The
only work we did today was our exercising. We went on a road trip with Mike and
Mary. We picked them up at 10:00 am and headed to Lakeland. Mike and I dropped
Cheri and Mary off at Jo Ann Fabrics and were told to take our time because
they didn’t want to hurry. So Mike and I went to Harbor Freight and took our
time nosing around. It was fun, we didn’t need anything but was able to find a
couple of things that we could use. We were at the checkout counter when Mary
called and said that they were done, good timing. After we picked them up Cheri
wanted to go to the Fabric Warehouse. Mary hadn’t been there before and was
able to find a few pieces of material. Then we took some back roads to Plant
City and stopped at the quilt shop there. After all the shopping was done, we
headed to Fred’s for a late lunch. It was the first time we have eaten at Fred’s
in Plant City. It was good but we all thought that the one in Lakeland was
better. It was after 3:00 pm when we got home. I still had to go to Wal-Mart to
get Grandma’s eye drops. I was back home by 4:00 pm and had time to rest a bit
before it was time to meet Ron and Sandy at Subway for supper at 6:00 pm. Cheri
and I were both full from lunch, but did split a six inch sub with a cookie and
drink. We visited for a while and then headed to church for our Wednesday night
Grow 101. Jamie Hancock was the speaker and his knowledge of the Bible is
outstanding. I couldn’t believe how fast time pasted. It was 9:00 pm when we
got home, watched a little TV and called it a night.
