Since
we had that storm with all the wind a week or so ago I have been putting off
cleaning up twigs and branches that came down. So today was the day to get
things done. I first got up on the roof and sweep it, sure was a lot of twigs
all over the roof. Next I got the step ladder out and cleaned the rain gutters.
Lastly I rake the lawn and got all the twigs and branches pick up. After all of
that I was bushed (play on words). When I came in the house Cheri was busy in
the sewing room. After a nice shower I headed to the recliner as I figured I had
done enough for the day. I read for a bit and then took a nice two hour nap.
This evening I had security and now that Mike has moved I was without a partner
so Cheri went with me. It was really quiet so we quit early and was done by
10:30 pm. We headed for bed and watched the Wisconsin Badgers play LSU. The
Badgers played a great game for the first half and then LSU came roaring back
in the second half and beat the Badgers. Ok it is now midnight and time to call
it a night. Cheri only lasted through the first quarter.

I
had a hard time getting my motor stared this morning really not wanting to do
anything. But I was determined to get the bike barn completed today. Cheri got her laundry started before he headed
off to the pool for her exercise. The first thing I had to do was figure out
how I was going to make a latching system to hold the bike barn closed. I have
been pondering on that part for a few days. I looked though some of the things
that I had and found an aluminum angle five feet long that I had used on the
fifth wheel that would work. With that figured out I could now finish putting
the pool noodles around the base of the barn. It was noon by the time I got
that part done. I took a break for lunch and then to Lowe’s to pick up the
latches I needed to finish the job. I just got done with the project when it
started to rain, good timing. I am very happy with the way it came out. Now the
motorcycle should stay a lot cleaner. When I came in Cheri was busy in the
sewing room. After I got cleaned up I headed for the recliner as I was done for
the day, a short time later Cheri joined me. So it was a good day that God made
for us.

My
project for the day was to get my bike barn fastened down and to try to seal it
from the dust that was getting in and on the bike. When we moved here I wasn’t
sure I wanted to keep the bike barn and even had advertised for sale. When it didn’t
sell I decided to keep it and glad now that I didn’t sell it. I didn’t know
where I wanted to put it in the car port and tried a couple of different places
and final settled on one spot. So for the last ten months it has been sitting
in the same place. I was using concrete blocks to hold it in place. So today
was the day to get it fastened down with bolts and anchors. I want to seal the
opening from the bottom of the frame to the concrete and thought that some pool
noodles what work. So late morning Cheri and I went to buy the pool noodles,
Ron told me that he saw them at the Dollar Store for one dollar each. So our
first stop was the Dollar Tree store and they were out of them. We checked
three more Dollar stores with no luck. Our next stop was Big Lots; no pool
noodles but manage to spend 60 dollars. We were close to two fabric shops that
Cheri wanted to stop at, another 80 dollars and no pool noodles. We made a stop
at Home Depot to look at potted gallon size Mums on sale, five for ten dollars.
We decided to that we needed the two gallon size and would wait to see if they
would come on sale. I also got the anchors I needed for the bike barn, no
noodles. Ok I gave up and went to Wal-Mart and found the noodles I wanted. We
also eat lunch at a new place called Little Ninja. It just opened a couple of
weeks ago. It was pretty good and plan on going again sometime. When we got
home Cheri headed to the sewing room and me outside to work on the bike barn.
It looks like the pool noodles will work really well to seal the opening. I hope
to finish the project tomorrow.

We
took it easy this morning as there wasn’t any time to get anything done before
it was time to take Grandma for her 10:00 am doctor’s appointment. Things went
better today as I had her back home by 11:00 am. I told her we would pick her
up at 11:45 am to take her to Wal-Mart to have her hair cut and to get groceries.
I headed home for a quick lunch and then Cheri and I headed back to take her to
Wal-Mart. We got her groceries while she was getting her haircut. All said and
done it was 1:30 pm before we got back home. We decided it was too late and hot
to start any projects today. So we spent the rest of the afternoon reading
along with some computer work and a nap. We left at 5:00 pm to pick up Mike and
Pam at Walgreens and then to McDonald’s to met Ron & Sandy and Craig &
Michelle for supper and then to church for Bible study. Tonight was out last
Bible study on Revelations. It is a hard book to understand, thankful that we
have a Life Group to help us. After Bible study we along with Mike and Pam made
a stop at the Village Inn for some of their free Wednesday night pie. Mike got
the results from his MRI and found out that he has a very bad sinuses infection.
Thank you for prayers for Mike and Grandma. Grandma is feeling about the same
and they both still need your prayers.

After
Cheri got home from her pool exercise we headed up town to get haircuts. On our
way back home we got a call from Pam telling us that they were out for a walk
and Mike got really light headed and went back home. Pam took him to the doctor
and they are doing test to see if they can find out what caused the light headiness.
We heard from Pam this afternoon and he has to go for a MRI tomorrow. So would
you put Mike on your prayer list along with Grandma as she is still not feeling
well? When we got home Cheri did her Tuesday cleaning and then to the sewing
room to figure out what her next project is going to be. I worked on putting in
the new tray slides in kitchen pantry. My two hour project turned out to be a
six hour project. The pantry wasn’t square and the trays were twisted and made
for a tough job. Cheri is happy to have it done. This evening we went out and
watched the space station pass overhead. We were able to view it for six
minutes but we only watched for about three minutes as the mosquitoes thought
we were their evening snack. We watched a couple of movies and called it a
night.

I
thought that I had my day all planned out but not so. I had forgotten that
Cheri had made appointments for us to have a massage from a Groupon that I had
bought a while back. So when Cheri returned from her pool exercise we got ready
to go to Wesley Chapel for the massage. They said to come early as we needed to
fill out the paper work. Cheri had been there before so she knew that nobody
would come out, you just fill out the paper work and wait for someone to come
and get you. Well we waited and it was 10 minutes passed out appointment time.
Cheri started checking and we were at the wrong place. The place we were
supposed to be at was about five minutes away. Cheri called them and told them
what happened and they were nice enough to wait and take us in. Boy we needed
the massage after all of that. After the massage we made a stop at Sam’s to
pick up some of their ready to eat ribs that we discovered a while back, they
are so good we have to get some every time we go by Sam’s. We each had a piece of
pizza and a drink for lunch while we were there. I had gotten a call from my
next door neighbor Mike while we were in for our massage. Mike flew in from New
York to pick up their car and drive it back to New York as they had bought a
new car and wanted this car in New York. Long story short he stopped by the
house to visit and asked me to do a couple of things for him before they return
the end of September. Then we went over to Grandma’s to change her old bed for
the new that Cheri and Denise took over for her when they were here a couple of
weeks ago. She said that she had been sleeping in it and like it. Then a quick
stop at Lowe’s to pick up some drawer slides. I am going to rebuild the slide
out trays in the kitchen pantry. Cheri never complained about them and I didn’t
realize how bad they were until I tried to pull one out and it fell out of the track,
my new project for tomorrow.

Grandma
isn’t feeling very good but wanted to go to church with us. After church it was
just Pam and Mike that went out for lunch with us at Island Breeze, the rest of
our group had other commitments. After we dropped Grandma off we headed home as
Mike and Pam was coming over to watch one of Dr. Larry Ollison’s DVD on Revelations.
Cheri and I have been having problems understanding our Wednesday night Bible
study on Revelations. Dr Ollison’s DVD helped clear up some of the things we
were having trouble with. We didn’t get through the whole DVD before it was
time for the four us to head to Wesley Chapel to meet Ron & Sandy and Craig
& Michelle at the theater for a movie date. The ladies went to see The
Hundred-Foot Journey and we guys saw The Expendables 3. After the movies we all
headed over to the City Grill for supper. When we got home Mike and Pam came in
and we watched the rest of Dr Ollison’s DVD. After Mike and Pam left Cheri and
I settled in and watched a movie on TV. It was a great day to spend with
friends and learn about God’s word.

Cheri
and I didn’t have any plans today. Cheri thought we should go out for
breakfast, looks like something we have been doing the last few Saturdays.
There was no question on where we would be going as it was the Breakfast
Station, it has become our favorite place for breakfast. After breakfast we
made a stop by Larry and Denise’s to check the mail as we forgot to do that the
other day. We then filled up the car with gas and with our Winn Dixie rewards
card it cost us $2.96 per gallon. We stopped at a yard sale and a couple of
second hand shops. So it was noon when we got back home, no lunch today because
of the big breakfast. This afternoon Cheri read and napped. I did some computer
work and read. The reading didn’t last long as I started to fall asleep. So I
headed for the bedroom for a nap which didn’t happen, couldn’t get my mind to
shut down. So I got up and read some more and watch TV. Around 5:00 pm we had a
storm come through with a lot of wind. It last about an hour and a half. I
checked the rain gauge and received just over an inch. We got a call from
Grandma wanting to know if we were ok. She said that the wind was really strong
and tore the roof off the house across the street from her. So we went over to
see if there was any damage to her place. There were a lot of branches down and
some wind damage to a few other homes but nothing to Grandma’s. On the way home
we drove by Larry and Denise’s to check their house and everything looked ok.
We watched the NASCAR race and called it a night.

Cheri
and I didn’t put in a very good night, too much dessert (sugar) from the
dessert potluck. A couple of month ago I put up some solar rope lights on our
new awnings with some double back stick fasteners and now they are starting to
come down. I wasn’t too happy with the way they turned out. So today I took them
all down and reinstalled them by drilling holes in the awnings and using cable
ties to hold them in place. They look much better now and are the way I wanted
them to look in the beginning. Cheri was working on her Christmas wall hanging
and came out of the sewing room and said it’s done. Of course I have been
telling you that I thought it was done many times before. Well today I have
pictures of it. You have to look close as there are six different panels. I did
some more computer work this afternoon along with reading my book. Cheri also
joined me to read her book. This evening was a happy one for me as I got to watch
the Green Bay Packers play; Cheri even watched some of the game.

Cheri
headed out for her pool exercise and I headed out to trim the neighbors palm
trees and pull some weeds. I trimmed back the flowers in our flower pots as
they weren’t looking that good and were over grown the pots, cleaned and filled
the bird feeder. Then I rearranged the shop so I could get the new tool cabinet
in. It didn’t take long to have it filled with my saws and saw blades. I quit
at noon as it was just too hot to do anymore outside. When I came in Cheri had
been doing laundry and was working on her Christmas wall hanging. After lunch I
took a nice long shower and got cleaned up. This afternoon Cheri and I made a
trip to the post office to mail a package of things the former owner of the
house left here which we thought that he might like to have. We stopped and got
the car washed and then stopped by Larry and Denise’s house to check things
out. Then I dropped Cheri off at Hobby Lobby as she said she needed a few
things to finish the Christmas wall hanging. I went to Lowe’s to check out a
ladder that was on sale. The ladder wasn’t what I thought it would be so passed
on that but did get some air conditioner filters that were on sale. When we got
home Cheri went back to work on her Christmas wall hanging and I got on line
and paid some bills. At 6:00 pm we headed down to the Rec hall for the potluck dessert.
It was tough trying to pick out which dessert I wanted or I should say
desserts. They were all very good and I probably won’t sleep tonight after
having all that sugar.

Cheri
didn’t go for her pool exercise as they mow lawns on Wednesdays and start near
the pool and she can’t hear the exercise recording because of all the noise
that the mowers make. I took Grandma for her doctor’s appointment which was at
10:00 am. We were actually in the doctor’s examining room before 10:00 am. I
thought we will be done and gone in a short time, but that was wishful thinking
as we waited almost an hour before the doctor came in. When I dropped Grandma
off at home she said that she was feeling better and would be going to church
with us on Sunday. It was a hot day with the heat index over 100 degrees. With
that being said I decided that I didn’t need to be outside doing anything. I
did some more checking on the exercise bike to see if I might have missed
something on why it won’t work, didn’t have any luck as it is dead. I sent an
e-mail to the company to see if I could send the display head in for repair or
replacement. I got an e-mail back saying that that part of the company was sold
to another company and would have to contact them. Cheri was busy cleaning her
sewing room and putting things away. I tried to do some reading this afternoon
and soon was taking a nap. Later we watched a movie and then it was time to
meet Mike, Pam, Ron, and Sandy at Wendy’s for supper before we headed to church
for our Bible study. We are studying the book of Revelations and the more we
get into it the more confused I get.

Cheri
did her pool exercise this morning and said that she enjoyed it as she had the
whole pool to herself. Cheri also did her Tuesday house cleaning and then spent
time working on her Christmas wall hanging. She has the binding all done and now
she says that she has some embellishments that need to be done. I left early
and went for a motorcycle ride. It has been a long time since I have taken a
ride, sure felt good to get back in the saddle. It was only an 80 mile ride and
I enjoyed each mile of the ride. I made a stop at the Harley dealer in
Lakeland, just long enough to have a cookie and dream about a new bike. Then a
stop at Harbor freight to get my free flashlight and bought an automotive paint
spray gun. I was back home by noon and ready for lunch. After lunch it was time
to go to my security meeting. After the meeting I took the security golf cart
home to see what parts needed to be ordered to get the front steering repaired.
As soon as the parts come I will be doing the repair. Hey we had a day without
any rain only nice white fluffy clouds. This evening we watched a very good
movie called God’s not dead. If you haven’t seen it, you should.

After
Cheri and I had our breakfast and coffee, she headed to the pool for her
exercise and I to the sun room to do my exercise. The exercise bike display
wouldn’t come on. I hadn’t been on it since last Thursday and that was the day
we had the lighting strike. I checked it out and had power to it and no luck on
getting it to come on, another casualty of the lighting strike. I worked
outside on the tool cabinet and finished the touch up painting, put doors on.
Now I need a few days of sun to bake the paint, otherwise it is done. This
afternoon we went to Wal-Mart to get another telephone for the house, now I can
get all the wiring and things back in place from the lighting strike. This
afternoon I did some checking on line for parts for the exercise bike. The
display that I need is no longer available. I even looked for used parts with
no luck. Next I checked Craigslist and did find another exercise bike that has
the same display has mine. The bike is a model 126 upright and mine is a model
226 recumbent. Mine was $500 when it was new and I can get the one from
Craigslist for $125, the problem is that it is in Boca Raton which is about a
four hour drive one way. Cheri worked on her Christmas wall hanging, changing
some things that didn’t come out the way she wanted.

Grandma
is still a little under the weather so she didn’t want to go to church today.
So we decided to try a different church today. As we were driving into the
church there was a sign that said if you are a first timer to turn on your hazard
lights. So we did that and got special parking and we were met at the car by a
person that took us into the church and showed us around and answered any questions
that we might have. So we were off to a good start. We got seated and then the
music started. I thought I was at a band concert with really load music, a
display of lights and smoke. There was no way you could understand what they were
singing. Then we were told that the message was to be delivered by video as the
pastor was in Dade City. The message was on Game Changing. Some of it was
interesting and related to the Bible but in the end it was really an advertisement
for you to get involved with the church. I was really upset but it did make me
more appetite of our church. On the way home Cheri and I discussed what had
just happened and we said that if we wanted to watch a video we could have
stayed home. There wasn’t any movement of Sprit for Cheri and me today. After
we got home Cheri worked on her Christmas quilt and I went out and did more
painting on the tool cabinet. The painting is done except for some touch up
painting that I hope to get done tomorrow. I did watch the NASCAR race and was
happy with the results. We are caught up on the shows we have recorded and had
a hard time finding something to watch that was any good. Hard to believe that
you can have a hundred different channels and still nothing to watch.

Yesterday
we made plans to go and see Norm and Marlene. We haven’t gone to see them
because they moved 100 miles away and I didn’t want to go that far with the old
van. So now that we have a nice new car we can make some of the trips that we
have put off. We left here at 9:00 am and arrived at their place a little past 11:00
am. It was good to see them and see how they have decorated their new home. We
visited for a while and then went out for lunch. Then back to their house for
more visiting. Before we knew it was time to make the trip home. Marlene said
next time we would meet half way for lunch and a visit. It was near 6:00 pm
when we got home. We weren’t very hungry so Cheri fixed us an egg, sausage, and
cheese sandwich. After we eat we headed to the recliners for an evening of TV.
I checked the NFL network and to my surprise the Green Bay Packer was playing
their preseason game with the Ram’s. OK now I am excited and never knew that I
would be able to see any preseason games. The game was in the third quarter
when I found it but still enjoyed watching the rest of the game. So it was a
good day spent with friends.

Cheri
and I didn’t have a very good night, both up early this morning which wasn’t
all bad because I had an early appointment in Tampa this morning. We were on
the road by 7:30 am. My appointment was supposed to be at 10:00 am but got in
early and was back in Zephyrhills 9:50 am. So we decided to have a late
breakfast at the Breakfast Station. Of course that met there wasn’t going to be
any lunch. After we eat we stopped by Grandma’s to see how she was doing. She
said that she felt some better but said that she didn’t want to go to church
Sunday. It was about 11:30 am when we got home. Just as we were walking in the
door we got a call from Direct TV letting me know that the repairman would be
here in about ten minutes, great timing and he was right on time. It took him
less than 5 minutes to fix the problem which was a bad LMB at the dish. We sat
and talked for a while and he showed us so many new things we could do with our
TV and Direct TV that we didn’t know about. Cheri worked all afternoon on her
Christmas wall hanging. She finished the quilting today, still has to put the
binding on and a little touch up stuff and it will be done. I think this turned
out to be a bigger and longer project then she thought it would be. I worked on
the computer, backed up the computer on the new drive I bought a few weeks ago.
I was going to do some more painting on the tool cabinet but it rained off and
on this afternoon. It is taking longer to get the painting done then it did for
me to build it. I think it is because I don’t like to paint.

I
was up early this morning not able to sleep. So when Cheri left for her pool
exercise I was ready to go out and work on the tool cabinet. I got the masking
done and ready for the red paint. It was noon when I finished the painting for
the day. I was able to get two coats of paint on most of it. I will still have
to put on at least one more coat. I could hear thunder in the distance so I
decided to quit for the day. I showered and got cleaned up and was ready for
lunch. After lunch I thought I would do a little computer work and relax the
rest of the day, so I thought. All of a sudden I saw a bright light and a load
bang. We just had a lighting strike very close to the house. After checking to
see what damage we had, I found several electric breakers tripped, the internet
modem was dead, all the telephone destroyed, and the Direct TV not working. I
called Direct TV and after going through checks with them they are sending a
person to fix it tomorrow afternoon. I called Bright House and they came a
little after 4:00 pm and was working on the problem when another storm came. After
the rain he came in and said that he had everything working outside and this
last storm there was another lighting strike and it destroyed the underground
cable coming to the house so he laid a temp cable on the ground that will be
installed Monday. I headed over to Wal-Mart and got a new phone and mouse for
the computer. By 5:30 pm everything was up and working except for the Direct
TV. Cheri worked on her Christmas Wall hanging today. So much for a relaxing
afternoon.

Now
that I got Cheri set up with her pool exercise instructions on her I-pod with a
speaker she was back at the pool yesterday. Today she said that she had a hard
time hearing the instructions as there were too much noise from the lawn mowers
and other people in the pool. I am also back to doing my exercise, this morning
was one of those mornings that was hard for me to get it done. I had to take
Grandma for a doctor’s appointment this morning. We got in right on time and
thought that we would be out in short order, not so as we waited for over an
hour in the office waiting for the doctor to come in. It was noon before I got
home. Cheri did house cleaning and some work on her Christmas Wall hanging. I
went over to Larry and Denise’s to install the floor molding I picked up
yesterday. When I got home I worked on the tool cabinet removing the masking
tape and paper to get ready for the red paint. I ran out of Yellow Frog masking
tape so was done with that for the day. This evening was Bible study at church.
So we met our Life Group friends for supper before heading to church. On the
way home we stopped at Wal-Mart to get my Frog Tape. Then I asked Cheri if she
would like to go to DQ for a butter finger Blizzard, got a big smile and said
lets go. After we got home we crawled into bed and watched a little TV and
called it a night.

Our
plans where changed this morning as I got an e-mail from Grandma that she was
really sick so we went over to see what we could do for her. She is having
trouble with her stomach and in a lot of pain all over. She hadn’t taking any
of her medication and some of it is for pain. We told her she need to take her
medication. Then we went to the bank and Wal-Mart to get her groceries and
other things that she wanted. It was a little after noon when we got home. This
afternoon Cheri had a few things that she need to get done and I went outside
and cleaned out the bird feeder and refilled it. While I was waiting for Cheri
to come home I started masking up the rest the rest of the tool cabinet so I
could spray the black paint on it. I hadn’t planned on doing any painting today
but things were going well so I decided to go ahead and spray the black paint. I
am still having trouble using the paint sprayer, can see it going to take a lot
of practice to get it right. After I got cleaned up Cheri and I went to Plant
City to pick up the floor trim that Larry and Denise ordered for the flooring
in their new house. When we got home it was time for supper and an evening of
TV. We only got a few rain sprinkles today but it did rain all around us.

I
didn’t get much done outside today as it rained most of the day with a little
break now and then. I was told yesterday that I would get a call this morning
between 8:00 am and 9:00 am to let me know what time they would be here to
replace the windshield in the car. Well those times come and went, finally got
a call at 11:00 am wanting to know if we had a dry place to work on the car. I
said yes and he said he would be here at noon. He did show up on the time he said and did a
very good job changing the windshield, took about an hour and half. I did some
more cleaning in the shop and fertilized the flowers between rains. I also got
one of the doors for the tool cabinet masked and ready for paint. I had to quit
as it was too hot and humid outside. This afternoon I worked on transferring some
water exercises from CD to the computer and then onto Cheri’s I-Pod. She asked
me a month ago to do it and I have been putting it off because I couldn’t
remember how to do the transfer. It took a while and finally got the CD loaded
on the computer in I-Tunes. Then came the problem of loading it on the I-Pod. I
couldn’t get the I-Pod and computer to link up. I tried everything and even did
some online searching. Last resort I tried a different cord and everything work
fine. I guess there is a different between the I-Pod cord and the I-Pad cord.
Cheri was back to work on her Christmas wall hanging. She also fixed a pork
roast in the Crockpot with potatoes, carrots, and onions, made for a nice aroma
in the house this afternoon.

We
missed church last Sunday as we were helping Larry and Denise with the flooring
in their new house. So it was good to get back to church. Pastor Dean’s message
was all about baptism. I must say I was disappointed as it was all on a video.
If I wanted to watch a video I could stay home. The best part was time spent
with our Life Group friends when we went out for lunch. After we dropped off
Grandma we went over to Lowe’s to get some fertilizer for our Vinca flowers.
The leaves are turning from a dark green to a more yellow. I checked on the
internet and was told that they needed some 12-10-10 fertilizer. The best we
could find was 10-10-10 which is close enough, hope that brings them back to a
nice pretty green again. That will be one of my projects for tomorrow. This
afternoon we settled in to watch the Sprint Cup race which was filled with some
very bad accidents, hard to believe no one got hurt. Cheri fixed us our usual
Sunday night pizza and ended the evening with more TV.

I
got back to doing my morning exercise as it has been a week since I last did
them. I guess with all the work I was doing while helping Larry and Denise I
didn’t need any extra exercise (poor excuse). Cheri got a call this morning
from Pam wanting to know if she wanted to go shopping. I am pretty sure you
know what her answer was. While she was gone I did some computer work, finished
the book I was reading, took a nap, and watched the NASCAR race. Yesterday when
we were at the Honda dealer I asked them if there was a way to reprogram the
way the doors open on the car. As long as you have the key fob in your pocket
or purse all you have to do is open the door as they automatically unlock. If
you are by the driver’s door it is the only one that unlocks and if you are by
the passenger door they all unlock. I was told that it couldn’t be changed as
it was a safety feature if you were by yourself you can get in without someone
trying to get in with you. If all else fails what they say to do, read the
directions. So I got the car manual out and did some studying and found that it
can be reprogrammed. Cheri got home at 3:00 pm and we made a trip over to Larry
and Denise’s new house to do a couple of things for them and check to make sure
everything was ok. When we got home I reprogrammed the car doors and now they
open the way I wanted them too. As you can see there was no work today for us
and it felt good. We got an e-mail from Larry and Denise saying they were home
and very tired. The e-mail was sent around 10:30 pm so they had two long days
of traveling.

Everyone
was up early this morning as Larry and Denise left at 7:00 am. Cheri got the
laundry started early and then went to Beall’s as she had a coupon for her and
Denise that had to be used today or tomorrow so she wanted to get it done right
away. Denise had showed Cheri what she was supposed to pick up for her. Mike
and Mary have gone to Maine for a few weeks and asked us to water their flowers
so I got the done and then I went over to our neighbor’s and got the weeding
done and trimming in the palm trees done for another week. I cleaned up the
shop and got things put away from working at Larry and Denise’s new house. The
base of our waffle Iron has been broke for many years and was hard for Cheri to
use, she saw one that was on sale at Macy’s so we drove over to pick it up and
had a coupon that had to be used between certain hours. From there we went to
the Honda dealer to get the part near the gear shifter that was missing. We
were having trouble with our phones working with the Blue Tooth in the car. They
told us other people had trouble with their phones and that they went back to
their cell phone carriers and that they did some upgrade to the phones and then
they worked. So we stopped at the Sprint store to see what they could do for
us. What we found out was that our phones were too old and not compatible with
the Honda Blue Tooth. We have wanted to get new phones but not this soon. To
make the change our monthly bill would double so we decided to turn the Blue
Tooth off and keep the old phones a while longer. Also made a stop at Home
Depot to pick up some salt for the water softener and then on the way home we
stopped at a car wash and got the car washed. It has to be at least twenty
years since the last time I took our car through a car wash as I always done my
own wash jobs. I made an appointment to have the windshield fixed or replaced
on Monday. Cheri and I both took a nap late this afternoon. We were supposed to
do security this evening but the rain that came cancelled that. Got an e-mail
from Larry and Denise and said that they had a lot of bad weather to drive
through today along with tornado warnings and traffic backups. They said that
they were in Ohio and have another 12 hour day of driving before they get home.

Our
day working with Larry and Denise was a little less stressful as most of what
they wanted to get done while they were here got done. Just a few odd and ends left
to get done. Cheri and Denise did a little clean up and Larry and I hung the
closet doors and put up a towel rack. The garbage disposal wasn’t working so we
took it out and Larry took it apart and it just needed a good cleaning and
lubed. Then we made a trip to Lowe’s to get new guts for one of the bathroom
sinks as it was broke and leaking. We were all done by noon so Larry and Denise
took us out for lunch at Golden Corral; it has been a long time since we were
there, not a good place to go when you are trying to lose weight. Then a stop
at Wal-Mart as both Denise and Cheri had something to exchange that wasn’t
right. Cheri and Denise headed back to our place. Larry did some trimming of
the shrubs, which came to an end when it started rain. We wanted to get the
truck hooked up to the trailer but had to wait for it to quit raining. We finally
got home with the truck and trailer around 3:00 pm. Larry and Denise plan on
being on the road by 7:00 am tomorrow headed for home in Ontario. We spent the
rest of the afternoon and evening playing cards. We passed on supper but did
have what was left of the ice cream which wasn’t much. Larry and I went back to
their new house to pick up some paint that they want to take home with them.
Then we stopped at Walgreens to pick up some more ice cream as we thought we
should have some more. We played one more game of cards. Denise and Cheri won
the Hand, Knee, and Foot. Larry and I won the Skip Bow game. After all of this
it was time to call it a night.

I
mentioned yesterday that we came up one box short on flooring and the Lumber
Liquidators at Plant City didn’t have any more so Larry called some other
Lumber Liquidators and found some in St Pete. So While Denise and Cheri cleaned
and Larry cleaned out his shed I went to pick up the flooring. On the way to
pick up the flooring a gravel truck that was in front hit a big bump in the
road and sprayed gravel back on three lanes of pavement. With all the gravel
bouncing around our new car now as stone chips in the windshield and paint
chips in the front of the car. With all the traffic there was no way to get a
license number so I guess we are on our own to get it fixed. Thankfully we have
insurance that should take care of it. It was near noon before I got back with
the flooring. Denise and Cheri fixed us a sandwich for lunch and we sat around
the new dining room table, Denise said our first meal in our new home. Larry
and I finished the flooring and were working on trim pieces for the floor when
Mike and Pam stopped by to see the house after the flooring was put in. Denise
and Cheri have only the dining room and back enter to clean and the house will
be done. Larry and I finished unloading the trailer of furniture and other
things that they brought down from Ontario plus loaded things that they want to
take back with them. Cheri had brought the crock pot over and had pork chops
going it this afternoon so we had our first hot sit down meal in their new
house. It was after 6:00 pm before we got home and all of my tools unloaded and
put away. After hot showers and cleaned
up we played some cards which Denise and Cheri won, Larry and I haven’t been
very lucky playing cards lately.

We
decided this morning that Larry and I would take their trailer over to their
place as it was setting down by our Rec hall. Then Larry and I went to St Pete
to pick up the table and Chairs that they bought a few weeks ago. We knew that
there wouldn’t be any power early this morning. They also gave away a lot of
the furniture that was in the house. So Cheri and Denise waited for them to
come and pick up the furniture. Larry and I had to drive a different way home
as we could see rain the direction we had planned on going. We managed to get
back with only a few sprinkles. Cheri called us just before we got back and
wanted to meet us for lunch at the Breakfast Station. I told her to wait at the
house because there was rain coming and we wanted to get the truck under cover
so the table and chairs wouldn’t get wet. We saw Ron and Sandy at the Breakfast
Station when we got there. Ron was getting ready to leave as he had a meeting
in Dade City. After lunch we unloaded the table and chairs along with some
stuff they had brought from Ontario. Still no power so Larry and I went to
Plant City to check on some finishing strips for the new flooring. We got a
call from Cheri telling us that the power had just been turned on at 3:00 pm.
When we got back Larry got the air conditioner started. We decided to go back
to our place and rest a while so the house could cool down enough for us to
work this evening. We played a couple of games of cards and had pizza for
supper. At 6:30 pm we were back at Larry and Denise’s house. Larry and I worked
on the floor and Cheri and Denise started cleaning. We finally quit at 10:30
pm. We came up one box of flooring short or we would have been done with all
the flooring except for the quarter round and door opening trim. It was 11:30
pm by the time we all made it to bed.

Yea!
We get power today at Larry and Denise’s house so we can have air conditioning.
It has been so hot working in the house, been above 90 degrees in the house
while laying the new floor. We got started around 9:00 am, no electric so we
removed the rest of the carpet from the two bedrooms and made dump run. When we
got back we still didn’t have any power so we started the generator and went to
work. Cheri and Denise took the truck and delivered a twin bed mattress over to
Grandma’s so she could have a better bed than the one she has now. Then they
made a trip to Sam’s and got the new mattress for Larry and Denise. Plus they
did a lot of other errands. Larry and I took a break for lunch at 12:30 pm and
still no power. Long story short we worked until 5:00 pm and got the master
bedroom done and still no power. Denise called the power company to see why we
didn’t have the power today like they said we would. She was told that her
payment didn’t go through. Instead of calling her they just let it go. As it
turned out it was a mistake that the power company made and no apologies. So
maybe tomorrow we will have power. We played a couple games of cards that Cheri
and Denise won big time. All in all we got a lot done again today.

We
didn’t go to church this morning as we wanted to work on Larry and Denise’s
house because they don’t have many days that they can be in the US. It was
another hot day to work without air conditioning. We did have a good day as we
got the dining room and hallway done plus some of the old carpet out of the
spare bedroom. We didn’t get done until around 5:30 pm and still had to clean
up. Larry and I were really tired but felt better after a hot and relaxing
shower. Tomorrow we should have power at the house so we can work in a cool air
conditioned house. Cheri and Denise went
shopping again today looking for a new mattress which they found at Sam’s. I am
not sure what other shopping they did but managed to make a day of it. Cheri
made lasagna and garlic toast for supper which was very good. After supper we
played a couple of games of cards and then called it a night.

It
was a busy day for all of us today. Cheri and Denise run errands and also did
shopping for things to decorate the new house. They also took over some clothes
that Cheri bought for Grandma to see if she liked them and if they fit, didn’t
have very good luck as Cheri had to return most of what she had bought. Larry
and I started on removing the carpet and installing the new laminate flooring.
It was a very hot day plus they couldn’t get the electric turned on until
sometime Monday. So I took my generator over to use so we could have electric
to run the saws. Plus I took a box fan to move some air while we worked. Not
having air conditioning made for a very hot day of work. Cheri and Denise
brought us Subway sandwiches for lunch otherwise we only took one other break
for about ten minutes. Larry did all the laying of the floor and I did all the
cutting. We got all the carpet out of the Living room, dining room, and
hallway. By 5:00 pm we had the living room floor done. Boy does it ever look
nice. By the time we got things cleaned up it was close to 6:00 pm when we got
back home. Larry and I were both ready for a nice hot shower. After supper we
play a couple games of cards that Denise and Cheri won. We were tired from the
hard day’s work so we headed to bed early this evening.

First
I want to wish my wonderful and beautiful wife a happy birthday. There is
something that I have never been able to figure out about a woman age. When
Cheri and I got married I was just a few years older than her and now I am over
thirty years older than she is, maybe it that we men age faster. Cheri and I
were on the road at 7:00 am heading to Tampa for an appointment that I had. It
was noon before we got home and just after Larry and Denise got back from
closing on their new home, yes they have really bought a house. This afternoon
Cheri and Denise went shopping over to Beall’s. Larry and I haven’t figured out
what shopping at Beall’s (a clothing store) has to do with a new house. Larry
and I went and picked up the new laminate flooring. We had a truck load as
there were 59 boxes (780 square feet). It was near 5:00 pm before we got the
flooring unloaded and back home. Cheri and Denise came shortly after we did.
Then it was time to get ready and go out to eat for Cheri’s birthday. She
picked Cody’s over in Wesley Chapel as we had been there for our wedding anniversary
and was very good. But tonight was not good as all four of us had a very bad
meal. We were so disappointed because we had told Larry and Denise how good it
was. When we got home we played one game of Skip Bo and called it a night.

Larry
and Denise left at 7:30 am as they had an appointment with the realtor from the
first house that they had put an offer on and didn’t get the house. They had to
close the contract and get their money back. Then they went to see the house
that we did the house inspection on and close on it if that was the one they
wanted. Cheri was busy doing laundry and I went out to finish the spray
painting on the tool cabinet. Things went much better than it did yesterday. I
learned from the mistakes I made yesterday. I still needed to thin the paint
more but came out OK. Larry and Denise got back here just before noon. They
told us that they didn’t buy the house we had looked at for them as they
thought there would be too much work to get it where they would want it. But they
did find another one in the same park that they like and put an offer on it and
got it so tomorrow they are going to close on it. This afternoon we took a ride
down to St Pete to the furniture consignment store where they had bought the
table and chairs to see about putting it on consignment as they don’t want it
for this house. The store wanted 50 percent to resell it, so they decided to
keep it and also bought a large picture while we were there. Our next stop was
Brandon so Denise could take back towels and shower curtain that was the wrong
color for the new house. Then we headed to Plant City and stopped at Lowe’s to
check out hardwood flooring and didn’t find anything that they wanted. Then we
headed over to Lumber Liquidators and found the hardwood flooring they wanted.
They put a hold on it for them as they need to take measurements to see how
much they need. Then we headed to Lakeland to have a smoothie and sandwich at
Wawa. Pus we also stopped at Harbor Freight as we were going right by on the
way home. It was near 7:00 pm when we arrived home. We found a very beautiful wreath
hanging on our door. Pam had made it for Cheri’s birthday which is tomorrow. We
played one game of cards and called it a night.
