We were up early but took our time getting on the road. We wanted to wait for the rush hour traffic to be over before we left. We said our goodbyes to Darren when he left for work. At 10:00 am we were ready to leave Darren and Jodi’s. We said our goodbyes to Jodi and headed for Jones RV Park to get the 5th wheel out of storage. We were hooked up and the motorcycle loaded and on the road by 11:00 am. We had good roads and good weather for our trip to Pigeon Forge where we are staying at Walden’s Creek Campground. We will be staying here for 7 nights. The trip from Cherokee NC to Gatlinburg TN through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park was really something. It was a long steep pull up over the mountains. I am not sure if it was the steepest pull we have done, but it rates right up there. I am sure it was the longest we have ever done. We arrived here at the campground around 3:45 pm. By the time we talked to several people and got set up it was 5:00 pm. Cheri picked up a lot of pamphlets and started putting together our itinerary for the next seven days. At 6:30 pm we headed out for supper and stopped at Bennett’s Bar-B-Que. The food was very good. We had first stopped at Mama’s Farmhouse Southern Cooking’ Family Style. It all sounded so good, but when we looked at the menu we decided we couldn’t eat $17 dollars food for each of us. On the way back to the 5th wheel we stopped at the grocery store to pick up a few things. We got a call from Greg and Jeanene Peterson from Waupaca Wisconsin and they are camped about 8 miles from us, so tomorrow we are going to get together for a visit and site seeing.
