It was a busy day at the Sharps house, not much to write about. Cheri did a load of laundry and work on taxes all day. I did some internet work this morning and then went out and power washed some more of the carport roof. I worked on it until I had all I could reach from the roof of the house. The rest will have to be done from a ladder. It has been a big job; don’t think it has ever been power washed since it was built in 1993. I was bushed when I got that done. I know I should be able to do the rest in one day but my body says it’s going to take two days. Late this afternoon I went to see about getting a second estimate on getting the carport extension put on. They will be coming sometime next week to check it out and give me an estimate. This evening we were invited over to Larry and Denise’s to play Hand, Knee, and Foot. We guys one the first game and the girls won the second game.

We lost the two degree we received yesterday morning back to 38. It did turn out to be a beautiful day with the temp in the high 60’s and lots of sunshine. Have you ever had one of those days when it was over and wondered what you did? Well that was the kind of day we had. We didn’t have any set plans for this morning so took our time lounging with coffee, morning news, and newspaper. After exercise and Cheri starting some laundry we sat down and watch the Thirst conference that we missed last night on the internet. By the time that was over it was noon and time for lunch. At 1:00 pm we had our Bible study at the Club house here in the park. Our leader had to step down do to some medical problems. So we are looking for a new leader. We did decide to start with the book of Philippians and next week we will discuss our questions and share what we have learned. When we got home I did some internet searching and found a free study guide for Philippians and sent the link to everyone. We made a trip to Lowe’s to pick up three bags of salt for the water softener. I have been lacks in checking it and found it almost empty today. Cheri had a list of groceries she needed so we got them on the way home. While we were in the grocery store Cheri got a call from the hospital and doctor’s office, they needed some paper work for Grandma. So we had to go home and dig it out and take a copy to the doctor’s office and the hospital. It is something we have done in the past not sure what they do with it as every few years we have to repeat the process. Alter all was said and done it was around 4:30 pm when we got done and back home. We were both exhausted and too late to start anything else.

It was two degrees warmer this morning but the high temp was only 64, still too cold for me. I have come to the conclusion that we are now really Floridians as the summers don’t seem so hot anymore and the winters are much colder. My exercise bike is set up in the new storage room and I have to have a mind set to go out there in the morning because there is no heat. It does make me peddle faster to stay warm. I do love to complain don’t I. Cheri was busy getting our laundry done this morning. Mike and Mary stop by around 9:30 am to drop of the totes that they borrowed to move. We didn’t get to visit very long as they had to meet a guy that was going to haul Mike’s project car to Plant City to have some work done on it. I took Grandma for her doctor’s appointment this morning and then a trip to the bank. This afternoon we decide to go and see the movie American Sniper. It was an interesting movie and what the guy went through while he was in the service. I wasn’t happy with all the bad language but I guess that is the way they talk in the service now. This evening was our first winter Life Group gathering. We are studying the book “It’s Not Too Late” by Tony Evans. It was good to be back to gather with our Life Group again.

It was 38 degrees this morning and did warm to 64 degrees before the day ended; there was a lot of sunshine but on the breezy side which to me was still cold. Cheri used her new steam mop on the floors this morning, she didn’t say a whole lot about it, and think the verdict is still out. Cheri left to pick up Jan for the Women’s Thirst luncheon to be held at the church from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. Over a year ago our paper shredder quit working and have thought about buying a new but never got it done. Will today I took the old one to the shop and tore it apart and was able to fix it so it works again. So as long as it was working thought it was a good time to clean up my desk area as it was looking pretty bad, shredded a lot of old papers. It was going on 2:00 pm before I finished my clean up. I just got set down in the recliner when Cheri got home. At 4:00 pm Cheri said I don’t know what we are going to have for supper. We got a $15 gift card from Darren to DQ and she thought that we should use it for supper. We each had a hamburger, fries, and a drink. With the gift card, senior discount it still cost us 39 cents. Now I remember why we don’t go to DQ very often. From there we headed to Dade City for the church Thirst Conference which was excellent again tonight. It was near 9:00 pm when we arrived home, decided to turn on the electric blanket, crawl into bed, and watch a little TV.

With the cold returning and no projects scheduled I have been pretty lazy in the mornings. Cheri got up feeling much better and ready to face the world again. I continued working on the plans for new kitchen cabinets. We got a call from Larry and Denise around 11:00 am to see if we wanted to go to Lakeland with them as Denise needed to go to Jo-Ann Fabrics and Larry wanted to go to Home Depot. That was good because I wanted to go and get some pricing on readymade cabinets that Home Depot and Lowe’s have in stock. We dropped Denise and Cheri off at Jo-Ann’s and then Larry and I went to Lowe’s instead of Home Depot. Larry has started the process of putting in a new driveway and needed some materials divert the roof rain water under the new driveway. I got most of the pricing I wanted for the cabinets. We picked up Cheri and Denise and Denise didn’t find what she needed so we decided to go to the quilt shop in Plant City. On the way we made a stop at Harbor Freight so I could check out a drill press that they have on sale. It turned out to be one I wasn’t interested in. Denise found the material she wanted at the quilt shop in Plant City. It was late afternoon by the time we got home. This evening we headed to church for the Thirst Conference. It was another great night of learning about God and how we need to surrender ourselves to him.

Today was much different from our usual Sunday. Cheri got up feeling miserable from the sore throat and cold she has. Today was the first day of the Thirst Revival Conference at church, so there wasn’t the usual church service or any Sunday school. There wouldn’t be any message notes for Grandma so she went to church with her park friends. So I was on my own for church. The first and second service was different so I stayed for both services as did a lot of other people. After church Mel, Jan, and I went to ABC Pizza for lunch. I do like that place for lunch but when there are several of us we have to wait too long to get in. I stopped at the grocery store to pick up some soup for Cheri. It was around 1:30 pm when I got home. Cheri was watching TV and said that she felt better than when she got up this morning but a long ways from where she should be. The Thirst Conference continued this evening at 6:00 pm and I did go back as I enjoyed this morning and this evening was even better. I am already looking forward to going again tomorrow night.

We want wish our son Darren a happy birthday. I got up to rain and wind, the rain lasted most of the morning but it was windy all day. Cheri got up with a sore throat, not feeling the best. I had no plans for the day so I did some computer stuff and then decided to draw up plans for new kitchen cabinets. I got done with that at noon and after lunch we went to Home Depot to pick out cabinets and get pricing. Well the guy said that he couldn’t do it today and would have to come back Monday. I really didn’t understand because he was standing around doing nothing. The more I thought about it the more upset I got. So on the way out of the store I stopped at the front desk to file a complaint. The lady said that I could fill out a complaint on line. Ok now I am really steaming and headed for the door to never shop at Home Depot again. Then an older lady said that she would see if she could help me. She made a couple calls and soon another lady which might have been a supervisor came to our aid. It wasn’t long and we had a lady name Janice help us with everything. They will be sending someone out to do all the measuring next week. Next we drove all the way to Home Goods as on the internet they said that they had the Shark steam mop Cheri wanted for $49.00 and Cheri also had a 20% coupon. Well that trip was for nothing because they don’t carry them at that store, I am not happy. Next was Wal-Mart which I think is the largest in Florida. We check out the Shark steam mops and found a better one, well it turned out they didn’t have any in stock, so we took the cheaper one. Next we went over to the grocery department to get distilled water for the steam mop. Yep here we go again, they are out of distilled water. We were going to go to a movie this afternoon but after all of that I just want to go home, which we did. Tomorrow will be better.

We want to wish our Granddaughter Cece a happy birthday as the turned 13 today. I went out early this morning to continue working on the roof that Larry and I started on yesterday. I got the tools out and the insulation installed before Larry and Denise got here to help. Larry came just at the right time as I was trying to get the aluminum piece in place. It was something I couldn’t do by myself. We were all done and the tools put away by 11:30 am. I am sure glad to have that project done. I could never have done it without Larry’s help, thanks Larry. With that project being done the four of us decided to go to Plant City for Strawberry short cake at Parkesdale Farm Market. It is the first time we have been there this season, already looking forward to the next trip. The next stop was the quilt shop as Denise needed a few things. I can’t remember the last time Cheri came out of a quilt shop without buying something. Then we decided to go to Lumber Liquidators as Larry and Denise are looking for new flooring for their kitchen. Cheri and I found something we would like to put down in our kitchen, dining room, and living room but it will have to wait until we get our construction budget built back up. It rained all through the night and so glad to have the roof fixed, made me sleep better knowing I didn’t have to worry about any leaks.

I put in a very bad night, have been awake since 2:30 am, and did do some dozing, but not a good night. Today was roof work day. Where the sunroom roof meets the house roof a leak has developed. I had checked it out and figured I had a good plan on how to fix it but wanted Larry to come over to check it also to see if he had a better plan. He thought the plan I had was a good one. So with Larry’s help we went to work on correcting it. When we removed the damaged part and found that they hadn’t put in any insulation. The two roofs had been joined together with a piece of rubber roof that didn’t last because there wasn’t anything under it for support. What should have been done was a piece of aluminum used. Larry and I made a trip to Lowe’s to get the additional materials I need to complete the job. Larry’s brother Frank has a metal break that we used to put a 90 degree bend a half inch wide in the aluminum piece we bought for a cap over the roof of the sunroom. Then we slid the aluminum under the house roof shingles. Then we caulk both sides of the aluminum that we installed. I am sure that my description of the project is as clear as mud, I have included a picture of the before on the one side and the after of the other side. My legs and knees where hurting pretty bad when we got one side done and I told Larry the other side will have to wait until tomorrow. Cheri did her laundry and house work. She also went over to see Denise as she was having a problem with the quilt pattern she was using and want to Cheri to check it out.

After with new aluminum

Cheri did her Wednesday morning dusting and I did my exercise. Then we took it easy as we had company from Wisconsin coming around 11:00 am for the day. It was Peter and Vickie, Peter and I worked together for twenty years at the telephone company. It has been several years since last got together and was fun catching up on what has been going on in their lives. We went out for lunch at That’s A More. It wasn’t real busy so we took a lot of time to just sit and visit along with lunch. After lunch we rode out to the airport to watch the sky divers. Then it was back to the house for more visiting. We gave them the tour of the house and Peter said that he follows our blog and was nice to now see what we have done in person. They left around 4:00 pm. We are so blessed to have wonderful friends that want to come and see us. The evening was spent watch some shows we had recorded. And it was such a nice day I was able to be in shorts again, been awhile since I have worn them.

We got an e-mail from Grandma saying that we needed to order medicine and get groceries for her. So after we dropped the motorcycle off at the repair shop to have a new rear tire installed we went to Wal-Mart to get her medicine and groceries. By the time we were done with all of that it was time to go to Mel and Jan’s as they had invited us to their place for lunch. They have a very nice winter home and Mel and Jan showed us all the improvements that they have been doing. After lunch we sat and visited until 4:00 pm. We needed to pick up the motorcycle before the shop closed. As it turned out it looks like the old tire would have been ok, cost little over $300 to find that out, better to be safe than sorry. When you have only two wheels it is much more important to keep them in good shape. I did bring the old tire home and I am going to take it to Bike Week and see if the Dunlop dealer will change their mind on the warranty. This evening Larry and Denise came over to play cards, first time we have seen them since they got back from Texas. We played two games of Hand, Knee, and Foot. Cheri and Denise won one and we guys won the other one, no bragging rights today.

It was cold this morning down to 38 degrees but by noon it was tee shirt weather with a lot of sunshine. We got around early this morning as we picked up Mike and Pam and headed to Webster for the flea market. We met Craig and Michelle at 9:00 am at the front gate of the flea market. Within a few minutes the girls went one way and we guy another. We guys walked, looked, and visited. We didn’t find anything that we thought we needed. Cheri did find and bought the Aggravation game board that is made from Corain. Mike and Pam bought one a couple years ago and we also wanted to get one but every time we went the guy that was selling them wasn’t there. We all met around 11:30 am at the Farmer Market Restaurant for lunch. We have been going to the flea market for years and never knew there was a restaurant on the grounds. We were lucky to be early enough to get a table without waiting. We had our choice of the buffet or a Cuban sandwich. We all had the buffet and it was excellent. After lunch we said good bye to Craig and Michelle and headed for home. Cheri and I were pretty tired when we got home and decided not to do anything for the rest of the day. Later this afternoon Norm and Marlene stopped in as they were in town to get Norms upper plate fixed so while the dentist was doing that they came over for a visit.

We didn’t get church today as we had company coming this forenoon, Ray and Espie friends from Wisconsin. They are down here for a week in Orlando and called us Saturday wanting to come and see us and watch the Green Bay Packers game. The game didn’t turn out very good as the Packers made a lot of mistakes in the second half. Now all that is left is to figure out who I am going to rout for in the Super Bowl. It was a fun day catching up on what Ray and Espie have been doing for the last year. Cheri fixed a great dinner of lasagna with garlic bread and peanut pie for dessert. After lunch around half time Cheri had fixed all kinds of snacks for the game and then pizza after the game. I don’t think I need to eat again for a week. I am sure I will change my mind tomorrow about eating.

I was up really early this morning, woke up around 4:00 am and tried to get back to sleep with no luck. I got an important looking document in the mail yesterday that had to do with an extended warranty for our car. It was a second notice and thought it might have something to do with the warranty we got when we bought the car. So this morning we decided to go out for breakfast over in Wesley Chapel and then stop at the Honda dealer to have the document checked out. We looked for a place for breakfast and ended up at the Wolf’s Den. It has been a long time since we have been there; in fact I had forgotten all about it until we drove by. We had a great breakfast and then headed to the Honda dealership. The document turned out to have nothing to do with our warranty, just another mail scam. On the way home we stopped at Home Depot as I needed to get some rolled flashing to replace the vinyl where the roof of the sunroom meets the house roof. When we got home I decided to power wash the drive way. I really wanted to wait until I got the carport roof done but the drive way looked really bad, so I went ahead got it done. Cheri was busy getting things ready for company coming tomorrow for a Packer game party. She also spent time in the sewing room painting a picture frame to put up in the spare bedroom.

It was cold this morning and no sun, made for a lazy morning for me, moving slow. I did get my exercise done. Cheri headed out shopping for everything to dress the bed in the spare room. It all started with me taking the window out of the spare bedroom and putting in a door for the storage room which led to Cheri having to paint the new door. Then she said that she had to paint all the wood work to match the door. Then I was told that walls had to be painted. Of course she changed the color and now is shopping for the new bedspread, skirt, sheets, and pillows. Oh yes we also are going to need new curtains for the window. Just think it all started with a door. The sun finally came out this afternoon and warmed up to 62 degrees, nice if you stayed out in the sun. I called to check on the motorcycle to see if they found out if the tire would be covered under warranty. Three guys that work at the shop said that the tire was defective and my friends thought so too. But of course the tire manufacture Dunlop said it wasn’t. Now I have to buy a new tire as I don’t think it is safe to ride on the present one. The repair shop is going to give me a break on the mounting of the new tire. We picked up Mike and Pam and went out for dinner at Francesco’s Restaurant. Cheri and I split a Calzone which was very good. Then we headed back to Mike and Pam’s to play cards. We played one game of Hand, Knee, and foot that Mike and I won big time. Then we played a game of Skip –Bo which Cheri and Pam won and then one game of Phase-Ten which Mike won. I am still looking for my first win playing Phase-Ten.

When I look at the bedspread it make me think of a picture I have printed on the computer and
has run out of ink before the picture finished printing.

For the most part the weather in the morning has been cold and or crappy so Cheri hadn’t been to the pool for a while. Well she headed off to the pool this morning but didn’t stay long as I think the water was too cold. I did my morning workout for the first time this year. I have been lazy, not wanting to do it. If I can keep at it for a while then I will be ok and look forward to it. Not much going on this morning. Cheri did laundry and fixed a couple pans of lasagna, one for us and one for Ron and Sandy. I did go to the grocery store for Cheri and also got my lottery tickets. We had Bible study this 1:00 pm, had one more new person attend. Our leader Joe is laying a foundation on how God loves us before we get into the study of a book from the Bible.

After Bible study we took a pan of lasagna over to Ron and Sandy’s and to check and see how Ron is doing. I think he is a little disappointed, his leg is black and blue and a lot of swelling. This evening we had our neighbors Mike and Kathy over to play Phase Ten. We played two games and Mike and Kathy each won one. We are new to the game and have played it about five or six times, fun game and I am still waiting for my first win.

Today we have to cash in our winning ticket for the Mega Millions lottery. Yep we were winners, got the Mega ball right, and must be worth a buck or two. We had a wonderful down day as we had friends Larry and Emmy Becker from Ocala come to visit. We first met them many years ago when we would winter in Baker Acers. I think we got together because we were from Wisconsin. Now we are all from Florida. It has been several years since we have gotten together; time has a way of slipping by. We had a fun time catching up, went out for lunch at That’s Amore. It wasn’t busy and was able to have a quite conversation. I think we were there for a couple of hours. After lunch we took a ride around Baker Acers and reminiscing about old time and the different people that where there then. Then it was back home for more visiting. They left around 5:30 pm, hated to see them leave and we all said that we would have to get together soon and not wait so long.  Cheri and I finished the off the day watching TV and a snack for supper as we had the big lunch.

What a great day it was, temps in the mid 70’s and lots of sunshine and a light breeze. But the weather forecaster says it is back to some cold by the weekend. That is why we should enjoy each day that God provides for us. Cheri was busy cleaning house, taking things to Good Well, and picking things up at the drug store. I worked on the quilt rack and got it put together for Cheri while she was out and about. I set it in the sunroom and I must say I think it looks pretty good. Cheri still has to stain and varnish it. I was just ready to take the motorcycle to the repair shop here in town as I have a problem with the rear tire when Cheri got home. So we had lunch together and then I headed to the repair shop. They had installed the tire a couple of years ago. They took pictures of it and sent them to the manufacture. As it turned out the manufacture wanted better pictures so they wanted to keep the bike and remove the tire. It seems like companies like you to know about their wonderful warranties until it comes time to make good on them. The guys at the repair shop treated me with respect and are doing everything they can to help me. They asked if it would be ok to keep the bike for a few days and even gave me a ride home. When I got home Cheri had the quilt rack all loaded with her quilts. We have company coming tomorrow and wanted them on display. We decided to go and see how Ron was doing, found him in great spirits and doing much better than most do. He had been to therapy twice and has to be able to bend his knee to 75 degrees before he goes home tomorrow, well by the second therapy session he was already at 110 degrees. On the way home I asked Cheri if she wanted to stop at Home Goods because I screw up yesterday, got a big smile and she said yes. We also stopped and filled the gas tank at $1.97 per gallon.

There is a quilt rack in there

A wooden puzzle

Yep it's a loaded quilt rack

It was a warm day but cloudy, missy and then heavy rain late this afternoon and evening. I checked the rain gage and we received just over an inch. This morning we headed to the hospital in Tampa to be with sandy while Ron was having is knee replacement. We got there around 9:30 am and Sandy said the doctor was out and told her that everything went extremely well. Mike and Pam also came to be with Sandy. Ron will have to spend a couple of nights in the hospital. We visited with him for a while after he got to his room. Then Mike, Pam, Cheri and I went for a late lunch at Cracker Barrel. Cheri and Pam wanted to stop at Home Goods on the way home. Well I got mixed up and went the wrong way; the traffic was bad and told Cheri I just wanted to go home, so she called Pam and told her that we would be stopping at Home Goods. It was around 3:00 pm when we arrived home. It was another day that we didn’t feel like doing anything after we got home, another depressing day.

Hey! It is warmer this morning and got into the high 70’s, although it was mostly clouding until late in the afternoon we finally got some sun, now this is a winter day I can handle. Our Sundays are pretty much the same each Sunday. We picked up Grandma for church. Pastor Randy’s message today was: Time for Some Good News! Romans 4:1-12. Charlie’s Sunday school lesson was: God Inspires the Work, Nehemiah 2:1-8, 17-18. I came away with a good feeling today of course the warm weather helps. For lunch we were going to go to Doc’s again this week but when Mike and Pam got there the parking lot was full of cars for the car show and lots of people so Pam called us and we decided to go to ABC Pizza, well the wait was too long. So we headed to Zephyrhills for lunch at Sonny’s. We had a fifteen minute wait which wasn’t too bad as it takes longer when you need a table for seven people, Mel & Jan, Mike & Pam, Grandma, and Cheri and me. We always look forward to the nice visit along with the lunch. As soon as we got home we settled in for the Packer game that I was recording. And to top off a good day the Packers won. After the game Cheri and I put the spare bedroom back together after the painting that she did. Looks great, still have to hang some pictures, Cheri has to figure out which ones and where to hang them.

It was another cold windy day, it did finally make it to 60 late this afternoon but the wind made it seem much colder. I really have wanted to work outside but can’t do it. Today I could have worked but the wind made it too cold, very depressing. Cheri on the other hand spent the whole day painting in the bedroom. It was late this afternoon before she got done and was exhausted. I spent the morning doing some computer work as I had gotten an e-mail from Google telling me that my storage was canceled because of nonpayment. It is updated each year with the credit card that is on file with them. Well that card got hacked last year and I forgot that was the card on the account. After a few e-mails and a phone call I got everything taken care of. So I was pretty stressed out after that. I spent the rest of the morning with my Bible and the afternoon wrapped up in a blanket in front of the TV. It is supposed to be nice tomorrow; I need some good weather to cheer me up.

It is still cold here this morning and didn’t get out of the 50’s today, also windy. Cheri and I were on the road at 7:30 am, had an appointment in Tampa. It took longer than we thought it would. So on the way home we stopped at Home Depot so Cheri could get the paint for the spare bedroom. After all was said and done it was near 1:00 pm before we got home. Cheri was going to paint today but after the stressful morning and it being cold outside we decided we would take the rest of the day off. I did some computer work and then made quick trip to the grocery store for Cheri as she was fixing a pork loin for dinner and needed some green peppers. Then I helped Cheri get pork loin cut and stuffed and in the oven for a three hour bake. It is a new recipe from our son Darren and he said that it is very good. So we patiently waited the three hours and it turned out wonderful. The good thing is we have enough for two more meals, love it when a plan comes together.

It is cold this morning 39 degrees and a stiff wind making a wind chill in the low 20’s. Cheri went back to painting the second coat of paint on the wood work and doors in the spare room. I was going to go out and assemble the quilt rack but just too cold. So I spent most of the morning with my Bible. I did take a trip to Staples to get some name tags for our new Bible study class, thought that it would help everyone get to know each other. Cheri finished the painting around 12:30 pm. We had a quick lunch as we had to be down at the Club House for our 1:00 pm Bible study. We had two previous meeting at the end of last year getting it set up so today was the first Bible study. I was very pleased with the way Joe presented it. We were back home by 2:30 pm and rested for an hour and then got ready to meet Mike and Pam at the theater to see the movie Unbroken. The movie was excellent but didn’t show the rest of the story on how he got saved and forgave his enemies. We read the book a couple of years ago and I must say it is a must read. After the movie the four of us went to Panera Bread for hot soup and sandwich. It was near 7:30 pm when we got home to settle in for an evening of TV. We also turned on the electric blanket; we have become real wimps since leaving the north winters nine years ago.

It started out on the cold side this morning but did warm up to low 70’s. Hard to complain when I see how cold it is up north. Cheri’s project today was to get a coat of paint on all the woodwork and doors in the spare bedroom. I did some work on the Security golf cart late morning after it warmed up a bit. Then it was back to work on the quilt rack. After lunch I had a dentist appointment to get my permit crown put in. I do look better, well at least my smile. When I got home I told Cheri I was a king because I had a crown. She said I have crowns too and the queen still tells the king what to do, so much for kingship. I went back to work on the quilt rack this afternoon. Things when well and by 5:00 pm I had it all cut out and ready to assemble. This evening we were invited over to Larry and Denise’s to play cards. Larry’s sister is still with them and we tried to play a game of Hand, knee, and foot. It is harder when you play for yourself. Cheri did win the game. Then we played a game of golf with cards. Larry and Denise play it much different then Mike and Pam, so it took a while to catch on. Larry won and Cheri and I came in last. Larry and Denise are leaving to take his sister to Texas Friday and will be gone for a couple of weeks.

We had the most beautiful sunrise this morning, much prettier than most sunsets. The old saying goes that red sunrise in the morning sailors take warning. Well that wasn’t the case today as it was a wonderful winter day with temps in the low to mid 70’s and sunshine. Cheri was busy taking pictures out of frames and putting them into photo albums, no room to hang all of them. I looked at some of the old pictures and then looked in the mirror and wonder who I was looking at. Funny how everybody gets older and you don’t, well I am here to tell you that’s not true. I worked on Cheri’s quilt rack until it was time to take Grandma for her B-12 shot, had to wait an extra half hours as the nurse said that they had been in a meeting. So when I got home I went back to work on the quilt rack. I already changed the plan from what I had planned on doing, but I am sure it will be better. I quit at 3:30 pm as I needed to get cleaned up for Men’s Night Out at church. Mel, Mike, and Bob when with me, it was the first time for me. We had Wings and Fries to eat, must have been around 75 guys, nice turn out. Pastor Randy and Pastor Carl were our speakers for the evening. Pam and Cheri went out to eat, guess they thought that they had to go out to eat just because we guys did. It was another wonderful day God provided for us.

Cheri headed out this morning as she a couple of errands to do. I did some cleaning in the shed and put away the extra old telephones and bells I have. I was going to do more power washing on the carport but it was too windy for that. When Cheri got back we decided to go and look for glass frames for Grandma. We had an early 11:00 am lunch and then headed out. Our first stop was Wal-Mart in Wesley Chapel, no luck. Next was Glass World, no luck. Next was JC Penny’s, nothing there. Next was Eye Optical, no luck. Next was Target, no luck. Next was Sam’s Club, no luck but we did get a few groceries. Every place we went for frames had bright colors and bigger lens all which Grandma doesn’t want. We will have to sit down and talk to her to see what she wants to do. On the way home we made a quick stop at Lowe’s to return a couple of things that I didn’t need. It was after 3:00 pm when we arrived home and we both were exhausted. We had a bought a slab ready to eat pork ribs at Sam’s and that was what we had for supper and enough for a couple more meals. The rest of the evening was spent trying to watch TV but kept checking the inside of our eye lids, finally gave up and went to bed.

I got up tired this morning not sure why as I had a pretty good night. I got an e-mail from Grandma this morning wanting me to bring super glue as she said that she broke her glasses and wanted me to glue them back together. I didn’t have time to check them out before church. I had trouble getting into Pastor Randy’s message this morning. I think it was because I was tired. I did better in Sunday school with Charlie; our lesson today was God Commands Obedience (Ezra 7:1-10). After Sunday school we along with Mike and Pam went for lunch at Doc’s in Dade City. It is a sports bar with good menu. We had been there once before about five years ago when it first opened, not sure why we didn’t go back as the food was excellent. When we got back to Grandma’s I checked her glasses and they can’t be glued back together. So we took her over to Wal-Mart where she got them to see if they had the same frames so all that would have to be done is change the lens. No luck with that and all the frames they had where bright colors and bigger as that is the latest. So this week we will have to go looking for frames. It was 3:00 pm before we got home. I was exhausted and headed for the recliner, took a long nap and felt better. I am not sure if Cheri napped or not as she was watching TV and playing on her I-Pad when I woke up. We finished the evening with Pizza and TV.

Cheri asked me if I wanted a egg, sausage, cheese biscuit for breakfast and of course I said yes, then she just looked at me and I said do I have to make it and she smiled and knotted her head yes. I said I guess I don’t want one, and then she laughed and went and made us one. She does love to play with my mind. Today Larry, Mike, and I went for a motorcycle ride. It was a perfect day as it was around 74 degrees when we left and got up to near 80 degrees, mostly cloudy so make for a great ride. We rode up to Sleepy Hollow which is the biker bar with music and steak dinner every Saturday. Well when we got there only about twenty bikes were there and normally there would be over150. It turns out that they were closed; don’t know why, no signs. More bikes came and went not knowing they were closed. So we had to change our ride route so we could find a place for lunch. We ended up at a Wendy’s for the $1.07 chicken sandwich and senior drink, the best value in the country. 143 miles later we were back home around 3:00 pm. Cheri, Denise and Larry’s sister went shopping in Lakeland. When they got back they had a trunk full of things they bought. So I guess they had fun shopping. This evening Mike and Pam came over to play cards. We played one game of Phase Ten which Cheri won and one game of SOB which Pam won. The ladies continue to rule playing cards this year.

The dog catcher chased me down the street, must need a haircut, getting pretty shaggy. So the first thing this morning Cheri and I both got haircuts. Then we headed to Home Depot to get the materials I need to build Cheri’s quilt rack. We also got a piece of PVC pipe that we are going to roll up Cheri’s Christmas quilt on as it can’t be folded, then we will hang it in the store room. We were back home by 11:00 am and I wasn’t feeling very good, a little light headed and my stomach felt like I needed something to eat. So Cheri fixed an early lunch and then gave me a good back and neck rub. I rested in the recliner for a couple hours and felt some better so I went out and washed the motorcycle which should have been washed a couple of trips ago. Cheri was busy doing many different things; she does keep busy plus taking care of me. I was done with the bike by 4:00 pm and ready to rest. After supper I felt much better and ready for an evening of TV.

Happy New Year, hope everyone got off to a good start for the New Year. Cheri and I decide this morning we were going to take the day off and just rest and watch some TV. Well that didn’t work for Cheri as she did laundry and house cleaning. I put the index tabs in Cheri’s Bible which went faster as I knew what I was doing this time, was done in an hour and a half. I had a couple of phones setting on the floor and Cheri said that I could put up a couple of more shelves for them. So I did that and looks good. We settled in for an afternoon of TV When we heard Larry and Denise drive up. They wanted to know if we wanted to go to Lakeland for Chinese. We couldn’t pass on that and I said that we would drive. So I dropped Cheri and Denise off at Beall’s and Larry and I went to Harbor Freight. I needed some staples and brads for my air nail gun. Then back to pick up Cheri and Denise and head to Ling’s for Chinese buffet. We got there around 3:00 pm, wanted to be there before 3:30 pm because that is when they stop the lunch and then start the dinner buffet. Then the price doubles and the only thing that I know is added to the buffet is crab legs, which to me isn’t worth the extra money. The food was very good and I think the last time we were there was with Larry and Denise last year. Denise wanted to stop at Hobby Lobby to check on a certain type of Christmas tree that was on sale. They didn’t have any in Zephyrhills. Well they had just the one she wanted. It was a 400 dollar tree and got it for a little over 80 dollars. Now how do you fit a 7 ½ foot Christmas tree in the trunk of a Honda Civic. Well it was broken down and in a 4 foot box. I was surprised that with a little pushing and shoving we got it in. One of the reasons it was cheaper was because the lights didn’t work and Larry wasn’t happy about that. Long story short about an hour after they got home we got an e-mail with Denise standing by the tree all lit up (I mean the tree was lit up). We settled in for and evening of TV or I should say I did because I was watching the Badger football game that I had recorded. Cheri played solitaire on her I-Pad plus took a nap.

Another year has gone; God blessed us with good health, improvements to our home along with a new church and new friends. I pray that everyone will have a blessed new year. Cheri and I worked in the house today. I took the Christmas tree apart and put it away, that was the easy part as Cheri did all the work taking off all the ornaments. I helped Cheri with some other things that she wanted to display along with some other changes. I also spent time putting index tabs in my Bible which was a bigger job then I thought it would be. I also have to put them in Cheri’s Bible but that will have to wait for another day. Cheri has come up with my next project, a quilt rack for her to display some of her quilts in the sunroom. Yea! I get to make a trip to Lowe’s or Home Depot, maybe both places. She has talked about one for a couple of years but never had a place to set it up. So stay tuned as I have to dream up the plan on how I am going to do it. Cheri is happy with the new store room and has it pretty much filled full and has thing in labeled tubs so she can get the seasonal things she wants to display. She also has a few things that she wants to take to Good Will. This evening we were invited over to Larry and Denise’s for pizza and cards to celebrate in the New Year. Things ended badly for Larry and me as Cheri and Denise beat us at two games of cards by a huge amount. Happy New Year to all and a good night to 2014.
