Before we got started with
anything we headed over to Grandma’s to apply the ointment cream on her back.
When we got home Cheri worked in the kitchen making Maine baked beans, fresh
baked bread, and some molasses cookies. The baked beans are from a recipe that
her mother had. It was something that they had every Saturday night for supper
when she was growing up. I worked on cutting and fitting the new shelves for
the spice rack. I spent a lot of time cutting the Plexiglas. It just wasn’t
turning out the way I wanted it to. After several tries with the jig saw I
tried the table saw with a fine tooth blade and that worked much better but
still not real happy with the results. I got all the holes drilled and ready to
install the Plexiglas to the shelves. Next I painted the shelves and they need
to dry before I can go any farther. It was already 3:30 pm and I was ready to
quit for the day. After I got cleaned up we went back to Grandma’s to apply the
ointment cream. When we got home it was time for the baked beans and fresh
baked bread. After supper we settled in to watch a couple of our favorite
shows, Home Free and Suits.

Cheri got the bed laundry
started early like she does every Friday. After breakfast and coffee time we
headed over to Grandma’s to put the ointment cream on her back. Then it was
back home so I could work on the spice rack and Cheri to work on her quilt
hanging. I had to do quite a bit of sanding and some sawing along with
repainting to get the racks to fit in place properly with the sliding rails. I
was ready to do the cutting for the spice rack shelves when it started to rain.
So I turned my attention to trying to cut the piece of Plexiglas. The first cut
I made wasn’t bad but I was sure I could do better and tried a different saw
and blade and got a cut that was much better. After doing that I checked and
the rain was over and didn’t amount to anything and the sun was back out. So I
started cutting the shelving. Cheri finished the quilt project that she was
working and it really looks nice, something for Halloween. I quit at 2:30 pm as
I needed to get cleaned up and do some Bible study with a one of Dr. Larry
Allison’s books (Unlocking the Mysteries of the Holy Spirit). We are going out
for a Friday night fish fry with Mike and Pam and then back to their place to
have a Bible study time on Dr. Larry Allison’s book. After our study time we
play a game of Phase Ten. It was a wonderful time spent with great friends.
Thanks Mike and Pam for leading us to better understand God’s word. Cheri and I
came home with a better understanding of God’s Holy Spirit. We are looking
forward to our next study time.

We had rain come though
during the night and check the gauge again this morning and got half an inch.
Cheri was busy doing her Thursday laundry and cleaning. I left at 8:45 am to
take Grandma for her heart doctor appointment. Her appointment was for 9:15 am
finally got in the office with the nurse at 9:50 am. Then we waited for the
doctor but a PA came in around 10:15 am to check Grandma and then said the
doctor would be in shortly. Well we wait until 10:50 am before the doctor came
in. We always try to get early morning appointments so we don’t have to wait as
long. But it never seems to work with the heart doctor. So when I got home we
decided to have lunch before going out to work on the spice rack. I removed the
cabinet rails so I could paint them. Then I painted the spice rack. I got the
rails install back in the cabinet and then installed shelf rails in the spice
rack. By the time I got done it was 5:00 pm. It was very hot working outside as
it was in the high 90’s. I was working in the shade with a big fan blowing air
at me which helped. When I came out from showering Cheri had supper ready.
Cheri had made a new recipe with cabbage and chicken and also made an apple
pie. The cabbage and chicken didn’t have much flavor but the apple pie made up
for it. I was ready to crash in the recliner to relax when Cheri came out with
her purse. I forgot that we had to go over to Grandma’s to put the ointment cream
on her back. When we got home we settled in and watched the movie God’s not
Dead. It is an excellent movie which we had watch before.

I woke up during the night
and could hear rain, seems like it was for most of the night but when I checked
the rain gauge this morning and there was just under half an inch. It was
another busy day. Mike came over at 9:00 am with his van to haul a few things
that we had collected over the years and didn’t want any longer plus the old
bathroom vanity and fixtures to the Re-Store. Then we went to Lowe’s to get a
couple sheets of plywood. It is nice to have good friends to help out in our
need, thanks Mike. While I was gone Cheri was busy doing her Wednesday house
work. Next Cheri and I went to Grandma’s to put the ointment cream on her back.
Then a trip to Jan’s to fix a door handle. After all was said and done it was
11:30 am when we got back home. We had an early lunch before we got started
with our projects. Cheri headed to her sewing room and I got started on my
spice rack project. I finished cutting out the backs from the plywood I got
this morning. I got the cabinets assembled and are now ready for paint. I was
too tired to start that today. After I got showered and cleaned up we went back
to Grandma’s to put the ointment cream on her back, Cheri said that she thinks
it looks a little better. Then we went to Lowe’s to look at Plexiglas to use in
the spice rack. I bought a small piece as I know it is hard to cut, so I just
wanted to start out with a small piece. I remember trying many years ago and my
experience with it wasn’t very good. Our last stop was Winn Dixie for some groceries.
When we got home it was time for supper and an evening of TV, in my case it was
more napping than watching TV.

We had another good day. After
we got home from changing Grandma’s back dressing Cheri headed to the sewing
room and I headed outside. Cheri has started working on a new quilt project for
her table top quilt hanger. I went back to work on the spice cabinet rollout. I
got most of the rack cut out and about ready to do some painting before I
assemble it. I could only work until 2:00 pm as I needed to get cleaned up so
we could take Grandma for her 3:00 pm doctor’s appointment. She no longer has
to have the dressing on her back but had to get some special cream for her
back. It was after 4:30 pm before we finally got home. After supper we settled
in for some TV. I think I did more napping than watching TV.

It was a good day in the
Sharps house today. First thing we went over to Grandma’s to change the
dressing on Grandma’s back. Then it was back home. Cheri worked on her quilt
and finished it. It is one that she has been working for the last few months in
between other projects she has done. I worked on building the roll out spice
rack for one of the kitchen cabinets. I got the roll out mechanism built and
installed. Late this afternoon I made a trip to Lowe’s to pick up some of the
materials I need to build the shelving units. When I got home it was time to go
back to Grandma’s to change the dressing again. Cheri fixed some of the
leftover meatloaf along with some potatoes for supper. We did get a little rain
again this evening maybe a ¼ of an inch. We settled in for an evening of TV. Thank
you God for the wonderful day you blessed us with.

On the way to church we
stopped by Grandma’s so Cheri could change the dressing on Grandma’s back.
Church and Sunday school were both very good. We met Mike and Pam at Black Eyed
Pea for lunch. After lunch we headed home to change clothes and then meet Mike
and Pam at Walgreen’s parking lot and then ride with them to Wesley Chapel to
see the movie Hillary’s America. It is a movie that everyone should see. After
the movie we were still full from lunch but Pam thought that we should at least
have some dessert before going home. So it was ice cream at DQ. After Mike and
Pam dropped us off we headed over to Grandma’s to change her dressing again. We
have to continue to do this until her doctor appointment on Friday. We had a
good rain this afternoon and checked the rain gauge when we got home and had
received 1 ½ inches. I settled in to watch the NASCAR race and Cheri with her
I-Pad playing solitaire. It was another good day with God and friends.

We headed over to Grandma’s
early this morning to change the dressing on her back. Then I dropped off Cheri
at Beall’s where she met Pam and later Sandy. So there day was spent shopping
and having lunch together. It was around 3:30 pm when she got home. I worked
out in the shop today. I did some more cleaning and sorting some things that I
want to take to the Re-Store. I also moved a florescent light and added the
florescent light that used to be in our kitchen. It seems nice to have more
light as there was never enough light when I was working on projects. I also
tried to do some of the layout for kitchen rollout spice rack I plan to build
but my mine just wasn’t into it. So at 2:30 pm I called it a day and relaxed
watching the NASCAR race. Shortly after Cheri got home she put the meatloaf
that we put together yesterday in the oven and then went over to Grandma’s to
change her dressing. When we got home and came into the house I could smell the
meatloaf cooking and made me really hungry. It was from a recipe that I got off
of Facebook and must say it was the best meatloaf I have ever had. This evening
we settled in and watch some TV shows we had recorded along with a bowl of ice
cream.

We got and e-mail from
Grandma telling us she needed a few things. So on the way over to her place we
stopped at Winn Dixie to pick up what she needed and a couple of things for us.
After Cheri got the dressing change on Grandma’s back we head home. Cheri continued
with her house work and I went out to the shop to clean up. I got most of the
things put back in place but got tired of cleaning so went back to work on the
electrical outlets I want in the carport. I thought that I had the wiring to do
the project but had the wrong size. I went in to tell Cheri I was going to Lowe’s.
She was in the process of putting together a meat loaf to have for supper. So I
helped her by doing all the mixing while she added the ingredients. It made a
lot so we froze on loaf. After lunch I made the trip to Lowe’s and got the
wiring I needed. It was around 3:30 pm when I finished the project, glad to
have it done. I was ready for a shower but it was about time to go to Grandma’s
to change her dressing. On the way I got a call from Ron telling me their air
conditioner quit working and looks like no one will be coming to look at it
until Monday. So after Cheri got done with Grandma we headed out to see if
there was anything I could do. After doing some checking I think it might be
the starting capacitor. Ron is going to see if he can get one tomorrow. Pam had
called Sandy to see how things were going and was going to bring food out for
them. Long story short we all ended up at Wendy’s for supper and visiting. It was
8:00 pm when we finally got home. It rained pretty hard while we were at Wendy’s
and on the way home. But the closer we got to home the less it had rained and
we didn’t get any.

Cheri was busy doing laundry
early this morning. I rounded up the things I needed to take over to Grandma’s
to spray around her place and remove some brush she has behind the house. We
got to Grandma’s around 9:30 am and found her really sick. The antibiotics she
took made her sick. So Cheri called the doctor and had to wait for a call back.
She also got the dressing changed on Grandma’s back. I finished the spraying
and got the bush removed. We got home around 11:00 am. Cheri started on
cleaning and mopping the floors and I went over to the neighbors to do weeding and
remove seed pods from the palm trees. It was after 12:00 pm when I got done and
was ready for another shower. Cheri heard from the doctor and has sent a new prescription
to Wal-Mart and said that it would be there within half an hour. So we waited
almost an hour before going over and it wasn’t ready when we got there as they
said that they just received it and would be ready in half an hour. Cheri
picked up a few more things for Grandma that she could eat that might make her
feel better. But as usual there was something that she didn’t like. Before
leaving Grandma’s Cheri changed her dressing again as it has to be done twice a
day. It was after 3:00 pm when we final got home and done for the day. We
headed for the recliners where we both had a nap. After supper we settled in
for an evening of TV. It was another stressful day.

Our morning was tied up
with appointments. Grandma had an appointment at 11:00 am and had a long wait
to get in and it was 1:00 pm before we got her back home. She has a bug bite on
her back that is infected and needs to have antibiotics to clear it up. We have
to change the dressing twice a day for a week and then back to the doctor to
have it checked. So we made a trip to Wal-Mart to get the antibiotics and
dressings. Cheri also had a prescription for some ear drops. When we went to
pick them up they wanted to know if we really wanted them because they were $380
dollars. We decided to take some over the counter ear drops for $7.00 dollars.
After all was said and done it was 3:00 pm when we finally got home to have
lunch. Cheri and I were both stressed out and needed to rest. The high for the
day was meeting Mike and Pam at 5:30 pm at the Village Inn for free pie and
then back to our place to play a game of Hand, Knee, and foot. So the day ended
on a high note, thanks Mike and Pam for being such good friends.

We were on the road a
little past 9:00 am headed to Brooksville for Cheri’s eye appointment. The
swelling as not returned which is great news. She can reduce her eye drops to
once every third day and has to go back in two months. The bad news is there
isn’t anything more that can be done to get rid of the double vision. On the
way home we stopped at the Florida Cracker kitchen for an early lunch. There hamburgers
are so big we decided to split one and we both came away with all we wanted to
eat. It is a great place to eat. We were back home by 12:30 pm. I went out to
clean up my shop and thought that I should go over to the neighbors to see if I
needed to do anything there. Well as I was going around our house I thought
that I needed to clean off out roof and clean the rain gutters. So I got the ladder
out and headed up on the roof to blow off all the twigs that had fallen from
the tree. I decide instead of blowing them off I would try using the leaf rake
which worked really well and didn’t take as long. Next it was time to clean the
gutters. I ended up with four bags of leaves and twigs. As I was working I
could hear thunder in the distance and kept getting closer. I was just
finishing up when it started to rain. I am so happy to have that project done
for a while. When I came in I was ready for a shower and I could smell
something really good. Cheri had started a crockpot of potato soup for supper.
After my shower I headed to the recliner and was soon asleep. I had slept for
over an hour and felt much better. After supper we settled in for an evening of
TV.

Our day didn’t go as we
had planned which means we do what God has planned for us and not what we plan.
I spent the morning working on the computer paying bills and setting up some
automatic withdraws from our checking account. While paying the car insurance I
saw we are paying for unstacked insurance for uninsured motorist and thought we
had stacked insurance. So late morning we stopped by the insurance office to
find out what was going on. Will I found out that we were better off with the
unstacked insurance. Our next stop was the bank as our debit cards expire this
month and we haven’t gotten any new ones. We were told that they don’t send
them out until the end of the month. Next I was going to get a haircut but too
many people waiting so we decided to go to Jersey Mike’s Subs for lunch. After
lunch we picked up some cleaning supplies for Grandma as the person that is
going to do her cleaning and laundry will be there at 1:00 pm and want to make
sure she had everything she needed for cleaning. I went and got a haircut while
Cheri stayed at Grandma’s to talk to the person that is doing the cleaning.
Later we made a stop at Lowe’s to return a few things that I didn’t need for
the bathroom remodel. We picked up our mail and found that we had another
problem with insurance. This time it was our home owners insurance. We got a
letter from the bank saying that our insurance had run out and they were going
to add insurance and bill it to our home loan. I had looked at our escrow
account and saw that they had removed the money for the insurance on 6/29/16.
So it was a trip back to the insurance agent to find out what was going on. It
turned out we do have insurance and everything was ok. I guess the bank has
trouble talking with themselves. After all was said and done it was near 3:00
pm when we got home. Cheri did some cleaning and I got things ready for tomorrow’s
garbage pickup. It was a stressful day for Cheri and me, getting too old to
handle all of this stuff. Oh and the debit cards were in the mail today. We did
get a hard rain this afternoon that lasted all of half an hour but received almost
¾ inch.

Grandma decided not to go
to church with us today because there wouldn’t be any message notes for her as
Pastor Carl was delivering the message. Pastor Carl delivered a very good
message that went along with the Sunday school lesson we are studying. Mike and
Pam were waiting for us when we came out of Sunday school. We went to the Black
eyed Pea for some southern cooking. It was actually pretty quiet and was able
to stay and visit for a while. It has been a while since we were with Mike and
Pam. This afternoon we headed to our recliners to relax the rest of the day. We
both were really tired. Cheri took had a nice long nap and I did some dozing while
watching the NASCAR race. Cheri fixed us pizza for supper and then watched a
couple of movies we had recorded. It was a day without lightning, thunder, and
rain, still very hot and humid.

We lounged a little longer
this morning enjoying our coffee. It was after 9:30 am before we got into our
daily routine. Cheri headed to the sewing room to work on her quilt and I
headed to the bathroom. Cheri came in at noon and said she wasn’t in the mood
to do anymore and I had just finished in the bathroom and was carrying my tools
out to the shop when we got a call from church friends Dick and Linda wanting
to come over to see our kitchen cabinets. They said that they would be here
sometime between 1:00 pm and 1:30 pm. Cheri hurried around to get the bathroom
cleaned up and all the towels in place. We got everything done a short time
before they arrived. We had a nice visit with them. They liked the cabinets and
are thinking about redoing their kitchen. We missed lunch today as we didn’t
have time after getting the bathroom ready to show. So we had an early supper
of chipped beef in gravy with scrambled eggs on toast. It has been a long time
since Cheri has fixed it and was very good. This evening I could hear some
thunder in the distance. I checked the radar and the rain had split and went
around both sides of Zephyrhills.

I was tired this morning
and had a hard time getting started doing any work. Cheri was busy right away
this morning doing her Friday laundry and then spent the rest of the day in her
sewing room. When I finally got started I worked on the bathroom back splash
getting the tiles cleaned up. I am very disappointed with the job I did. So I
worked on removing some of the grout along the ends of the end tiles and replaced
it with some white caulking. It does look better but still a long way from
being what I wanted. I worked on putting Jean’s vacuum cleaning back together
and the part that I epoxied didn’t work so I guess the vacuum cleaner is ready
for the junk yard. Later this afternoon I was back in the bathroom working on
installing the vessel sink. I wasn’t happy with the drain location so I got my dermal
tool out and did some grinding on the granite trying to move it about half an
inch. I used up all of my grinding wheels and need to go to Lowe’s for some new
ones. At 4:00 pm we went to see Jan and to say our good byes to Sherry who is
leaving to head home in the morning to Pittsburg. It was after 6:00 pm when we
left Jan’s so we stopped at Burger King for supper because I knew Cheri wouldn’t
feel like fixing anything when we got home. On the way home we stopped at Lowe’s
to get the grinding wheels and then to Winn Dixie for some groceries. Yep once
again we had lightning and thunder and no rain. I had checked the radar and the
storm split and went around both sides of Zephyrhills.

I went out early this
morning to cut the seed pods out of the neighbors palm trees. I wanted to get
it done before it got too hot. Cheri was busy with her Thursday laundry and
working in her sewing room. She had bought a large S to set on the kitchen
cabinets and had it down today and added some color to it. I was working on
installing the pencil tiles when our neighbor (Jean) came over with her vacuum
cleaner. She said that it was making a terrible noise and wanted me to check
it out. So while the pencil tiles were drying I took it apart and found a
broken fan which is the part that makes the vacuum. I check on the internet and
can’t get just the fan, have to buy the whole motor assembly at a cost of 78
dollars which more than the vacuum is worth. I showed Jean the broken part and
told her I would try an epoxy the old one back together. This afternoon I
grouted the bathroom tile. This is the first time I have used sanded grout and
is much harder to work with and with it being black I had a pretty big mess to
clean up with Cheri’s help. Cheri also made me my birthday cherry pie that our
daughter Nikki told her she had to make for me. I guess my birthday has lasted
for a month. We got our usual evening lightning and thunder and no rain.

Cheri was busy doing her
usual Wednesday house work and then spent time in her sewing room. I worked on
cutting all the pencil tiles which took a lot longer than I thought it would.
It was 1:00 pm when I got done. We skipped lunch today because Cheri fixed us a
big breakfast of eggs, bacon, hash browns, toast, and juice. We had a 2:00 pm
meeting over at Grandma’s with a case worker. Cheri signed Grandma up about
five years ago to see about getting her help with laundry and house cleaning.
Well her name finally came up and today we had the interview. She was accepted
and starting Monday someone will come twice a week and spend two and a half
hours cleaning, doing laundry, making beds, and washing dishes. On the way home
we took the car though the car wash which is now six dollars which still isn’t
too bad as I try to do it every other week. It was around 4:00 pm when we got
home. We rested a bit before Cheri fixed the rest of the shrimp scampi for
supper. Around 6:00 pm the thunder and lightning came and we did get a little
shower from it, less than a ¼ inch.

Cheri had a fasting lab
this morning at 8:30 am so we went out for breakfast at the Sunrise restaurant afterwards.
After breakfast I dropped Cheri off at Hobby Lobby and I took the car back to
get the tire fixed again as it still has the slow leak in it. They told me that
they could get it done until later in the day so I got an appointment for 3:30
pm. So Cheri didn’t have much time to shop. When we got home Cheri went to the
sewing room to work on her quilt and I cleaned up the tile getting it ready for
the tile pencils to be installed. After lunch we took Grandma to Wal-Mart so
she could have her hair cut and we picked up groceries for her and ourselves. When
we got back home we were ready to sit and relax for a while. Then it was time
for me to take the car to have the tire fixed. The patch that was put in wasn’t
done right and that is why it was leaking. On the way home I made a stop at
Lowe’s to pick up some contact cement to install the tile pencils. By the time
all was said and done it was near 5:00 pm when I got home. Cheri was busy in
the kitchen making shrimp scampi for supper. It was really good and have some
leftover for tomorrow. Around 6:00 pm we got our daily lighting and thunder but
this time we got some rain. It didn’t last long but did get just under a half
inch.

Today was a good day in
the Sharps house. Cheri and I both were able to get a lot done. Cheri spent
most all day in her sewing room. She went through her material stash and got it
all rearranged. She also found the material she wanted to use on the back of a
quilt she started a couple of months ago. I worked in the bathroom installing
the tiles I had cut yesterday and then cut the remaining tiles I needed to
finish the job. The next step is to do the grouting. Cheri and I were both done
around 3:00 pm. Cheri headed for the recliner and I headed to the shower. We
were invited over to Ron and Sandy’s for hamburgers and a visit at 5:30 pm. So
after my shower I had time to join Cheri and rest for a bit before going. When
we got to Ron and Sandy’s we sat out in their sunroom and was treated a good
rain and a wonderful light show. The burgers with all the trimmings were great
and then homemade brownies with ice cream for dessert. We got home a little
after 9:00 pm and decided to watch a little TV in bed and call it a night. I
just checked our rain gauge and there was hardly enough to cover the bottom of
the gauge. I was really disappointed because I am sure Ron and Sandy got at
least ¾ inch or more of rain.

As of today we have owned
our house for three years. It is hard to believe it has been that long already.
When we look back we can see we have done a lot to make this house our home and
are very close to having it all done. Well I guess you never really get
everything done. We took Grandma to church with us. Church and Sunday school
were both very good. We have been studying a Rick Warren lesson book called
Life’s Healing Choices. We aren’t really Rick Warren fans but I must say this
is one of the best we have done. We just finished lesson six and have two more
to do. It was near 1:00 pm when we got home and had a sandwich for lunch. This
afternoon we went to check Denise and Larry house and everything is in good
shape. Then to Dade City area for gas and then over to Jan’s place to turn on
the water, hot water heater, and adjust the air conditioner to 76 degrees. Jan
has been up north for the last three weeks with family and friends. She had
called last night to let us know that she would be home late this afternoon.
When we got home I settled in to watch the rest of the NASCAR race and Cheri
with her magazines and I-Pad. Later we had pizza and watched a couple of movies
we had recorded. It was another great day God made for us.

I went right to work on
the bathroom tile. I spent the whole day just laying out and cutting tile. I
was disappointed with the tile cutting blade I had so I made a trip to Lowe’s
to see about a different blade. Well I found that there isn’t anything any better
than the one I am already using. So between the tile saw, grinder, and dermal
tool I continued my cutting. By 4:00 pm I was at a point where I needed to
start installing the tile that I had cut but decided it was too late in the day
for that. Cheri found a recipe on Face Book that was for a cinnamon apple bake
that she made. We had some for lunch and it was ok what nothing special. Cheri
said she wouldn’t make it again. We also had some for desert after supper and
we put some pancake syrup on it which made it taste a lot better. We also had
leftover pot roast, carrots, onions, and potatoes supper. The last five days
late in the afternoon we have had thunder and lightning but no rain. It is very
dry and usually get a little rain each day during the summer. We tried to watch
the NASCAR race this evening but couldn’t stay awake to watch the whole race.

I did some more yard work
early today before taking my shower because I knew I was going to come in all
sweaty. Cheri was busy doing her Friday house work. We left around 10:30 am
heading to a tile place in Tampa. We didn’t see anything there that was in
stock that we liked. So we headed to Lakeland to return the tile we bought
yesterday. I said to Cheri that we should stop at Home Depot and Lowe’s in
Lakeland before returning the tile at Home Décor. We didn’t find anything at
Home Depot but we did find some subway tiles at Lowe’s so we bought them. Then we
went over to Home Décor to return the tiles we bought yesterday. There were a
lot of different in the cost of the tiles, the tiles we bought today were
$139.00 cheaper then what we bought yesterday. We put on over 250 miles in the
last three days getting the vanity top and back splash tiles. It was around
1:30 pm when we got back home. We had a late lunch and then did some measuring
for the tile layout in the bathroom. I decided it was too late to start any
work today. Jenny and Mason (Mike and Pam’s daughter and grandson) are here for
a week and we are going to meet them at 5:00 pm for dinner at Manolo’s Italian
Restaurant. After dinner we all came back to our place as Jenny wanted to see
the work we have done since the last time she was here. It was another good day
God made for us.

I went out before 7:00 am
to clean out the flower beds at our neighbors. I still need to do some tree
trimming but that is going to wait for another day. Cheri was busy doing
laundry and cleaning floors. While we were at Darren and Brooke’s the tire I
had repaired before we went was still losing air. I put air in it twice while
we were there and the last time I air it up to 40 pounds. So I checked it this
morning and it hadn’t lost any air, don’t know why. So I lowered the air to the
pressure it should be at. Now wait and see if continues to be ok. I was going
to work on the electrical project for my outside work area but decided it was
too hot. I installed a safety grab handle in our shower, getting older and need
more help getting in and out of the shower. We decided to make a trip to
Lakeland to check on back splash tiles at Home Décor and More. Well we found
something we liked and bought it. After getting it home and holding it up on
the wall it just doesn’t look right. Later this afternoon we got a call from
Southern Granite that our vanity top was done. I was surprised it was done so
soon as we were told it would be the end of next week. It looks good and happy
that we went with the granite. Now if we can just find the right back splash
tile. I really would like to get the back splash tile installed before
installing the vessel sink.

Cheri and I both got up
very tired and not much energy to do anything. I checked the neighbor’s trees
and flower beds. I need to do some weeding and it is just too hot to be out in
the sun doing that today. We went over to Grandma’s to see how she was doing
and to see if she needed anything. Just a few groceries was all she need but no
hurry for them. Then we went to Lowe’s to pick up the counter top for the
bathroom that they said would be in. No luck on the counter top so we got
groceries and headed home. After lunch we decide to go to Lowe’s down in
Lakeland for the counter top. On the way I said to Cheri let’s stop at Southern
Granite where we got the granite for the kitchen. We found a piece that will
work for the bathroom and not that much more than the laminate counter top. We
headed home to get the exact measurements of the vanity and they also want the
vessel sink and water fall faucet so they can get the holes in the right place
for the water and drain. I had said that we would bring them down tomorrow but
decided to do it today so I would have the whole day tomorrow for something
else. When we got back to Zephyrhills we decided to go to Popeye’s for supper.
We did more napping than watching TV this evening. It is wonderful how God
works in our lives, if Lowe’s would have had the counter top in stock that what
we would have had. But with Gods help we will now have a nice piece of granite.

At 7:30 am we had to say
good bye to Darren as he was off to work for the day. We had some time to spend
with Brooke and baby Wyatt before it was time for us head back to Zephyrhills.
I wasn’t looking forward to the trip home fighting the traffic. Well we were on
the road at 9:00 am and was surprised how little traffic there was. The traffic
was light for most of the trip. We did have heaver traffic the last 100 miles
but it move along with no problems. We arrived home around 4:30 pm. Our trip
was 937 miles and got 37.1 miles per gallon which made me feel good. After we
got the car unloaded we just had to relax for a bit before putting things away.
We really needed to get some groceries but decided to have some scrambled eggs
with a bagel. Watched some TV and called it a night.

Happy forth to everyone,
hope you all had a good time with family and friends. There was some wind with
that shower we had yesterday and when Darren looked out back this morning he
saw that there were a couple of limbs on the ground. So we got the chain saw
out and cut them up and got them out by the road to be picked up. Last Nov when
we were here Darren and I built a stand for the doors from his jeep. Well it
needed to be wider for the doors to fit more easily. So that was the next job
to work on. This time Darren took of a front door and back door to make sure
that they would fit. This time they fit the way they should have when we built
it the first time. After lunch I worked on the bedroom fan. It had a broken fan
switch that I had tried to get fixed the last time we were here. Well this time
I did get it working but it still isn’t right as the fan speed isn’t right. I
ran out of time to work more on it as we were going over to Chris and Sheryl’s
for visiting and supper. They also had other guest and most were in the pool.
Being I am not a pool person I sat outside to visit for a while and then went
in the house as it was just too hot. Chris fixed a wonderful meal of baby back
ribs with all the trimmings. We got back to Darren and Brooke’s around 7:00 pm.
We had some ice cream and watched some TV before calling it a night.

Brooke got a chance to get
out of the house again today. So Grandma Cheri got to be in charge of taking
care of Wyatt (happy grandma). Darren and I continued working on the sprinkler system.
We ended up making a couple of trips to get additional materials. In fact we
had to go to two different Home Depots in order to get everything we needed. On
one of our trips we stopped at Publix’s to get some groceries so Cheri could
made Lasagna for supper. We repaired one
sprinkler head and moved two more. The hardest part was the digging in the Georgia
red clay as one head had to be moved forty feet. It was an all day job but
finally got down around 4:00 pm. I was beat from working out in the sun and
heat. The temp got up to 96 degrees today. Shortly after we got done we had
about a ten minute shower which would have felt good while we were working. We
couldn’t have gotten any wetter because of being all sweaty. After supper and
around 7:00 pm Darren thought that we should have some ice cream so we headed
off to Kroger’s to get some. Brooke wanted a turtle pie. So we got turtle pie
and two other kinds of ice cream. So when we got back we had the turtle pie.

It was another busy day.
Cheri and Brooke were busy taking care of Wyatt. Darren and I made a trip to
the recycling center to get rid of a supply of cardboard he had. Then a stop at
Home Depot to return the electrical materials we didn’t need. When we got back
home it was time to work on the damage the carpenter bees had done under the
eve of the house and a column in front of the house. This was something new for
me as I had never heard of carpenter bees. What they do is bore into the wood
to lay eggs. So you have all these holes. We sprayed them with an insecticide,
then plugged the hole channels with steel wool and filled the hole with plastic
wood. Later some sanding and painting will have to be done. Next it was time to
work on the sprinkler system. There were three leaks in the system. Two of them
were from broken sprinkler heads and the third was from a fitting that came
apart. That met another trip to Home Depot to get repair parts. After fixing
the fitting and one sprinkler head we check that zone and found that Darren had
two additional sprinkler heads that he didn’t know about. We moved one of those
as it was right under some of the shrubs and wasn’t able to spray out into the
lawn. We also found the five different zone controls that are for the system.
We still haven’t found the main water shut off for the system. It was 7:00 pm
when we quit for the day. After pizza for supper and a nice hot shower I was
ready to call it a day. It was 100 degrees working outside on the sprinkler system.
It didn’t seem too bad as the humidity isn’t as bad as it is in Florida.

Ok where did the month of
June go, seem like it was just the first of June a few days ago. It was a busy
day at Darren and Brooke’s today. Brooke and Cheri busy with baby Wyatt. Darren
was busy with work and I worked on installing the electrical outlets. The
outlets were going on a wall in the garage and had planned on doing a surface
mount. Well after fishing the wall from the attic to the electrical panel I figured
maybe I could fish the wall where the outlets were going. Sure enough I was
able to do it which met I had to make a trip back to Home Depot to get
different materials. It was 3:00 pm when I got done and looks good. Darren was
happy with the way it turned out. Darren showed me some problems he has with
the lawn sprinkler system. We need to replace a couple of sprinkler heads and
repair a leak from a broken pipe. Our project for tomorrow. Brooke got a chance
to get out of the house and go and have lunch with her dad. Of course Cheri was
happy because that met she was in charge of Wyatt. This evening we were invited
over to Brooke’s parents for supper. It was the first time out for Wyatt. Everything
went well and had a good time. It was around 9:00 pm when we got back to Darren
and Brooke’s. A short time later Cheri and I headed for bed.

I was awake at 4:00 am
this morning and couldn’t go back to sleep so I got up at 4:30 am. I guess I
was thinking about the trip. Cheri was also awake so she got shortly after I
did. We had planned on being on the road by 7:00 am. By being up earlier we
were on the road by 6:20 am. We took a break around 9:30 am stopping for gas
and a breakfast sandwich at Hardy’s. Traffic was light until we got into
Atlanta where It slowed but continued moving OK. I think that it was after
12:00 pm and people were heading out for a long holiday weekend. We arrived at
Darren and Brooke’s around 1:15 pm. Baby Wyatt was sleeping when we arrived but
woke up a short time later for his feeding. Of course Cheri (grandma) was right
there to pick him up as soon as he woke up. He won’t be a week old until tomorrow
and he is already able to lift his head and tries to push up with his legs.
When Darren got home he showed me a few things he wants me to do while I am
here. He wants me to put in a dedicated outlet for his treadmill which means running
electrical wire in the attic and fishing it down inside the wall. (My project
for tomorrow) Later Darren and I went to get Cuban sandwiches and sides for
supper. After supper Darren and I went to Home Depot to get the materials to do
the electrical work. We were all tired and headed for bed at 9:30 pm. Darren
and Brooke said that they haven’t been getting much sleep as they have to feed
Wyatt every three hours.
