It was a nice cool 64 degrees this morning and decided to get the truck cleaned out and washed. Well when I went outside I see there wasn’t any dew. So I decided to wax the 5th wheel. When I got done with that it was still partly cloudy and so I went to work on the truck. So by 1:30 pm I had the truck nice in clean inside and out. It was also getting pretty warm by then and I was hungry and pooped. After lunch I took my morning shower or I should say afternoon shower. It was near 2:00 pm before I got to sit down and that is pretty much where I spent the rest of the day. Cheri took Grandma for her throat x-ray and also made a stop at the bank. She had gotten her new checks in the mail today and they were the wrong ones and so they order some more new ones for her. Cheri had done a bunch of cleaning and laundry today so she was also done for the day when she got back home. I received and e-mail from Rick and Janis saying that they have arrived back in Wisconsin and it is cold and deary, thats why we are in no hurry to get back there.

I went right to work on washing the rest of the 5th wheel. It was near 11:00 am when I got done. I was hot, sweaty and tired. The shower sure felt good. Cheri did some deeper cleaning inside. I was planning on waxing the part of the 5th wheel that I washed a couple of days ago. That all changed this afternoon, as we were sitting here taking it easy we hear a chain saw running. We look out the window see that the power company is cutting down a large palm tree that is about twenty feet from our 5th wheel and the wind is blowing our direction. They cut it down from the top in one foot pieces. So guess where all the saw dust went, yep all over the 5th wheel. I was one very unhappy person. I went out and talked to the guy on the ground and told him I had just finished washing the 5th wheel and wanted to know who was going to wash it again. He said that I would have to go to the park office and talk to them as the tree belonged to the park. The park manager said that I would have to talk to the power company because they are the ones that are cutting the tree down. Don’t you just love it when people keep passing the buck? I went back home and waited until they got the tree completely cut down and talked to the guy that was doing the cutting. He said you people are never happy and he couldn’t help which way the wind was blowing. Then he had the nerve to say it will be raining in a couple of hours anyway. Long story short he agreed to wash it if I got a pail of water and soap with a brush. So I got the cleaning supplies out and then went back inside to cool my heals. After they left I went out to check out the wash job and I ended up washing the roof, back and half of the left side again. After all of that I was in no condition to do any waxing today. Oh by the way it never did rain today. Cheri took Grandma to the doctor for her appointment for her throat. She now has to go for and x-ray tomorrow and then back to the doctor on Tuesday. After supper we had to go over to Wal-Mart to get some medicine for Grandma. I think today was the hottest and most humid day so far this year.

I got around early so I could do more washing on the 5th wheel. I got the back and half of the side done before it got too hot and it was time to get ready to go out for lunch today. We have a lunch date with Grandma, Cousin Rick and Janis. We left at 12:00 pm and headed to a new bar and grill in Dade City called Doc’s. The food was very good and the menu was really funny all done with medical terms, made for good reading. We will be going back again. When we got back to Grandma’s the five of us sat down and played a game of dominos that the girls won. Late afternoon we were invited over to Mike and Pam’s for supper and cards. Wow two good meals in one day am I bless or what. We played two games of Hand and Foot at the girls won and then three games of SOB which I didn’t win any of. So you can see what happened to my winning ways. So now I am setting here in a corner licking my wounds. Tomorrow I hope to finish washing the 5th wheel. It has been a tough job this week as I have been under the weather with a sore throat and a touch of flue. It was a hot and humid day in the low 90’s, still better than the weather up north. We also had some excitement here in the park. A guy and his wife were leaving the dumpsters and he blacked out and drove into the back side of a park model and completely destroyed it. The people that owned it were trying to sell it and now the insurance company owned it.

Cheri took Grandma for her follow up doctor’s appointment with her general practitioner. She told the doctor that she was having trouble with her throat and that it was sore and has been that way for a long time. So now she has an appointment to see a throat doctor on Thursday. I had my VA appointment at 12:30 pm in Tampa and wasn’t sure if Cheri would be back in time so I could use the van. So I took the motorcycle and filled it up with gas. The low fuel light was on from our last trip and didn’t know how far we had gone with the low fuel light on. Long story short I went to the nearest station to fill up. I put in 4.92 gallons and the tank is only a five gallon tank. So you can say the good Lord was watching out for us. Well Cheri got home in time for us to head to Tampa for my appointment. We stopped at Burger King for lunch and ate that on our way. We arrived about ten minutes early and got in right away. I ended up having to go over to the hospital to get an x-ray of my ankle. The doctor said I should wait until after 4:00 pm as it wouldn’t be so busy otherwise I might have to wait for an hour or two. Well we decided we didn’t have anything else to do so we head on over to the hospital to get the x-ray done. Well I only had to wait about five minutes to get the x-ray done. We were back home by 3:30 pm. Cheri and I had all we wanted for one day so we relaxed the rest of the day.

I have an eye appointment on May 5th so our leave date is now May 6th, that is if there are no new appointments. My day was spent cleaning the motorcycle. It was pretty dirty from our last ride as the love bugs are now out and we collected a bunch of them all over the front of the bike. So I decided to give it a good cleaning. It was 8:30 am when I started and I didn’t get done until after 4:00 pm. Cheri took Grandma for a doctor’s appointment this morning for her eyes and everything is ok and doesn’t have to go back for six months, good news. It was around 10:30 am when Cheri got home and checked the e-mail and Rick had e-mailed us to let us know that Dean and Betty were leaving today. They weren’t going to leave until tomorrow, so we jumped in the Van, picked up Grandma and went over to their place to say good bye. Rick and Janis came right after we did. They usually leave around 3:00 am or 4:00 am in the morning and everyone was surprised that they were going to leave now. We dropped Grandma off and headed back home. I continue cleaning the motorcycle. I took one more break to eat lunch. Cheri took Grandma for another doctor’s appointment this afternoon. It was with her heart doctor and more good news as the doctor said everything looked good and didn’t have to go back for six months. Cheri and I play a game of Hand and Foot this evening before Dancing with the Stars started. There doesn’t seem to be any front runner, hard to tell who will be going home tomorrow.

Happy Easter to everyone. We had a pretty quiet day. Grandma went to church with us and then we went to Golden Corral for dinner. Mike and Pam also joined us for dinner. You can never go wrong going to Golden Corral to eat as they have so much to choose from and everyone can have what they want and as much as they want and there lays the problem because I always eat way more than I should. When we got home Cheri and I changed clothes and went over to Grandma’s to play cards. I am back to my winning ways as I won the two games of SOB that we played. It was near 3:30 pm when we got home. We tried to watch some TV but I couldn’t stay awake, so I went to bed and took a two hour nap. Cheri was watching TV when I got up but I think she also took a nap in the chair. Neither of us was very hungry after our big dinner so we had a bagel with honey on it for supper. The rest of the evening was spent watching TV. It was a hot and humid day.

We left at 8:30 am and headed to church where the church was having the Bunny Eggstravaganza. It is the first time the church has done this and wasn’t sure how it would turn out. Well it was a success, with and estimated 1000 adults and 2000 children. I was on the parking crew and we even run out of parking spaces that were set aside and had to open up an additional area. The church had a helicopter come in and drop eggs in to areas that were fenced off for different age groups. There were three different egg drops so everyone would have a chance to get some eggs. If some of the children didn’t get any they had a table set up where they could get a bag of eggs. There were a total of 28,000 eggs dropped. It was an amazing site to see the eggs drop from the helicopter. It was a very warm day with a high of 91 with a little breeze which helped to keep us cool. Cheri got to work mostly in the shade and I was out in the sun. I drank four bottles of water which were delivered to me while doing traffic control. It was near 2:00 pm before we got home. I needed to take a shower and put on some dry clothes. A couple of friends (Don and Diane) from our Life Group had changed churches and were doing a dress rehearsal of the Easter Service this evening. So we met Mike and Pam at the church to watch the rehearsal and then went to Ruby Tuesday’s for soup and salad. Then we all went back to our place to play dominos. Cheri and Pam beat Mike and me pretty bad, so much for my wining steak. Cheri was able to take a few pictures of the egg drop today. See album Bunny Eggstravaganza or click this link:     https://picasaweb.google.com/sharpstravels/BunnyEggstravaganza#

Cheri cleaned and did laundry and I went to work on washing part of the 5th wheel. I got the whole left side washed and it was noon before I got done. After I got showered and dressed I asked Cheri what we were having for lunch and she gave me that look. She wanted to go to Plant City to have strawberry shortcake, which was a good idea because when May comes there is no more strawberry shortcake until fall. So we took the motorcycle as I had wanted to go for a ride. After our strawberry shortcake we rode over to Camping World as I wanted to get some sewer ends for a new sewer hose I had bought. I also needed some black marks cleaner. Of course we bought a few other things. It was a good thing we had the motorcycle or we may have bought more things. It was around 3:30 pm before we got home. Later I fired up the grill and did some pork chops for supper. Around 6:00 pm I decided to go out and wax the side of the 5th wheel that I washed this morning. It was near 7:30 pm before I got done with that, happy to have that much done. Only one side and both end left to do. Now I am pooped and time to sit down and watch some TV or sleep and pretend I am watching TV. It wasn’t as hot today only in the low 80’s and the air seemed to be dryer.

We left the 5th wheel at 8:30 am for a work day at church. We got a call last night from Joe who is in charge of cleaning. They wanted to do some spring cleaning before Easter and were looking for some volunteers to help. Joe said that he had about six people coming. Well when we got there Joe was there so the grounds keeper let us in and said Joe was going to be late. So Cheri and I got started cleaning and Joe showed up about 9:30 am. Around 10:00 am another person came to help. So it was just the four of us to do the cleaning. It wasn’t too bad and we were done by noon. I don’t know if Joe was going to do any more or not. We headed for Dade City and made a stop at the quilt store as Cheri had some projects to pick up. They didn’t have them in stock and had to order them. We stopped for lunch at a new place for us. It wasn’t very good and won’t be going there again. We stopped at Good Will to drop of some clothes and then on to Wal-Mart to get groceries. It was 2:00 pm by the time we got home. Cheri had to take Grandma for her doctor’s appointment and I took a nap. Cheri called me from Grandma’s bank and said Grandma needed new checks. They were in the process of taking Grandpa’s name off the checking account and adding my name so we could help out. We had to take Grandpa’s death certificate down to the bank in order to get his name off the account. Then Cheri and I stopped for an ice cream blizzard before we came home. It was 5:00 pm before we got back to the 5th wheel. No supper tonight because of the big lunch and Ice cream. It was in the low 90’s today with high humidly.

We walked again this morning and I managed to do the whole park like we use to do. It really felt good and I got along pretty well with my foot. My plan for the day was to get the roof of the 5th wheel washed. Yes I stuck to my plan and got it done. Although I was about ready to quit when I was half done, but I stuck to it and finished the job. I was plenty hot and sweaty when I got done. By the time I got done with my shower it was already noon. This afternoon we were going to go and do a few things but Grandma needed the van so we put that off until another day. Cheri and I played a game of Hand and Foot which I won. Then we settled in for an afternoon of TV. Around 7:00 pm I decided to go back up on the roof and give it a wax job. I was going to wait until tomorrow but it takes so long for the dew to dry off in the mornings and is too hot to get any waxing done. So tomorrow I was planning to start cleaning and waxing the side of the 5th wheel but that plan got canceled as we got a call and they need some help at church to get things ready for Easter Sunday.

We did the morning walk as it has been a long time since I tried to do a long walk. I did get along fairly well. We didn’t get our full mile and a half in but did about a mile. Cheri gave me much needed hair cut this morning. So by the time that was done and all the showers were taken and were dressed for the day it was almost 11:00 am. We had no plans for the day so we gave Mike and Pam a call to see if they wanted to play cards today. Long story short they are both sick with colds. After lunch Cheri and I played a game of Hand and Foot. Which I am happy to say I won. Then we went over to Grandma’s to play a couple of games of SOB which I won, Wow can it get any better than that. When we got home I fired up the grill and did some chicken breast for supper. After supper Cheri and I played one more game of Hand and Foot. Yep things do get better as I won that game. Cheri gave me that look and said let’s not let this happen again, the smile I had on my face said it all. We settled in for an evening of TV, Cheri was surprised who got voted off of Dancing with the Stars. It was hot and humid again today with a high of 92 degrees.

We were on the road before 7:00 am heading to Tampa for my VA hearing test. Yes I did have a hearing test a few weeks ago. This test was to see if I will get any compensation for the hearing I lost while I was in the Navy. My appointment wasn’t until 8:00 am but we wanted to make sure we didn’t get caught in any traffic backups. Everything went smoothly and we arrived a half hour early. On the way home we stopped at the VA clinic in Zephyrhills to follow up on the prescription I asked for and they gave me a phone number I had to call in Tampa. Long story short I wanted written scrip to take to Wal-Mart, they instead sent me the medicine in the mail and I did receive it today. This afternoon Cheri had to take Grandma to the hospital outpatient for a couple test. I worked on installing the wireless camera I took off the back of the 5th wheel on to the back of the truck to use to help hook up the truck to the 5th wheel. We had a high of 93 degrees and high humidity so after I got the camera install I had enough of the outside work for the day. We finished the evening watching Dancing with the Stars. I should say Cheri did as I slept through about half of it. I didn’t hear Cheri say who she thought was going to be voted off. Well maybe she did tell me and I was half asleep and didn’t hear her.

Grandma called us last night and said that she was going to go to church with us today. After church we went to Olive Garden for lunch. There were seven of us for lunch. Grandma, Cheri and I had to eat fast and get back to the church by 12:30 pm as Cheri had a meeting on assignments for The Bunny Eggstravaganza to be held next Saturday. They have 15,000 eggs that will be dropped from a helicopter. There will be four different drop zones for four different year groups. Sounds like fun for all the kids. I will be on car parking detail. On the way home I stopped and filled up Grandma’s van at a cost of $63.00 and no end in sight. We got a call from Dean and Betty this afternoon inviting us over to play dominos this evening. Cheri spent the afternoon reading and napping. Being it’s and Sunday that means I am watching the NASCAR Race. Wow!! What a wild finish. We went over to Dean and Betty’s at 6:30 pm to play dominos and Cheri and Betty were the big winners for the night.

I had an eye appointment in Tampa at 8:10 am with the VA. It is only 28 miles but we left at 7:00 am because the last time we went to Tampa we got caught in a traffic back up and was almost late for my appointment. Today we didn’t have any trouble and was over a half hour early, maybe because it was Saturday. I have to go back on May 5th for a glaucoma test. We stopped at Wal-Mart and the farmers market on the way home. It is on real how much food prices have gone up and diesel is now over $4.00 per gallon. Being retired and on a fixed income really is beginning to hurt. I guess there are a lot of us in the same boat and just have to adjust the way we live. We played lazy this afternoon; we both fell asleep in our chairs. Finally Cheri went to the bed room to nap and I woke up and watched the NASCAR Race. This evening we had our Life Group celebration dinner at Carolyn’s place. She had moved into a new house and wanted to have everyone over to see it. It was a great time spending it with close Christian friends. Thanks Carolyn, you have a wonderful new home and your dinner was great.

I woke up with a lot of pain in my shoulder this morning although a hot shower did make it feel some better. I still went to work on installing the camera cable on the truck and Cheri continued her spring cleaning. I got the cable run and was starting to put the ends on the cable when Harold and Joann Zeller stopped in for a visit. It was nice to see them as we hadn’t seen them since August. They used to live behind Grandma’s and were on their way over to see her. After lunch I finished up getting the camera cable ends on and hooked up to the truck. All I have to do now is test it out. I didn’t have time to do that has we had to be ready to go out to eat with Bud and Joyce at 3:30 pm. We went to Golden Corral. If you get there before 4:00 pm you can get in for the lunch price and they change over to dinner menu at 4:00 pm. So you get to have the dinner for the lunch price. See all of us old retired people have these things figured out so we can save some money. After supper Bud and Joyce dropped us off at home and they went home to hook up there motorcycle trailer and finish getting ready to leave bright and early in the morning. I really think they should have waited another day because they will be heading into some bad weather. We took a stroll around the park this evening and stopped to visit with Ed and Lorraine. We tried to watch some TV this evening but both fell asleep and decided to call it a night and go to bed early.

I know spring is really here as Cheri is doing extra cleaning in the 5th wheel. I headed outside as I didn’t want to get in her way or she might put me to work. I have enough work of my own to get done. I finished getting the camera hooked up on the 5th wheel. Now I have to get the cable run into the truck and some connectors added to the ends of the cable. While I was working under the 5th wheel and already dirty from crawling around I decided to grease and air up the tires and put the air sensors on the tires. While I was pulling myself around with my arms over my head I heard two pops in my shoulder and then felt pain. I continued to work but with pain. I also aired up the truck tires as long as I had the air compressor out. I had a lot of stuff out of the basement so I could fasten the camera cable up so I started cleaning it out and sorting through things I want to take with us when we leave. I was working in the sun and it was hot, like an idiot I forgot to put out the awning out, it’s much nicer working in the shade. I was about ready to quit when I got a call that the motorcycle was done. I had taken it in yesterday to have new tires put on and they also put new brakes in the back. So I called Bud and he took me down to pick it up. On the way back I stopped at Wal-Mart and got a trailer light connector to see if I can use it to make the camera cable connection form the 5th wheel to the truck. Late this afternoon I fire up the grill to cook some chicken breast. While I was in the process of doing that Cheri got a call from Pam & Mike wanting to know if we wanted to go out for supper and then back to their place to play cards. You know where the chicken breast went, yep back in the refrigerator. We met Mike and Pam at Red Robin for supper at 6:15 pm. Then we headed over to Mike and Pam’s for cards. The girls won the first game of Hand and Foot. Then Mike and I won the next two games. Then we played two games of SOB which I was the lucky winner. Sorry Pam it was the guy’s night to shine. It was 1:45 am before we got home, boy how time flies when you are having fun with special friends. Thanks Mike and Pam. Yes I have a lot of pain in my shoulder, but winning at cards helped relive the pain.

I met Ron Sharp for breakfast at Rick’s Restaurant at 9:00 am. We had a project to do for Carolyn one of our Life Group friends. She lost her husband a little over a year ago and has moved into a new house. She asked Ron and me if we would put up some shelves for her and also she said that she couldn’t shut the doors in front of the washer and dryer and wondered if we could look at them. The problem with the doors was the dryer sat too far from the wall and couldn’t go back any farther because of the vent behind the dryer. We moved the dryer out and took it apart and found that the dryer out let could be moved to the side of the dryer. So Ron and I headed to Home Depot to get some screws for the shelves and some vent pipe for the dryer. When we got back Ron put up the shelves and worked on the dryer. I also had to change the opening where the dryer vented to the outside. Long story short the doors now close and the shelves are up. It was near 2:00 pm before we got the work done. Carolyn came home just as we got done and was very happy with what we had done. On the way home I stopped at the local motorcycle shop to see about new tires for my motorcycle and they had them in stock and said if I bought the bike over now they would start on it and I could have it back around noon tomorrow. So I went and got the bike and Cheri follow me over and picked me up. Then we went to get the yearly tags for Grandma’s van and park model. Well when we got there the office was closed. Sometime during the last big rain storm we had the flat roof collapsed under the water load. They had a sign in the window that we could go to Dade City and get the tags there. So when we got to Dade City there were probably fifteen people waiting, so we took a number and sat down. The lady we sat by said she had been waiting for forty minutes for a copy of her husband’s diver license. So we figured we would be waiting a while. Well within about two minutes we were called and taken care of. When we got back to the park we see Bud and Joyce sitting outside so we stopped to visit with them. They are leaving Saturday so we made plans to go out for supper on Friday evening. It was after 7:00 pm before we got home.

I got an early start today working on installing the rear camera on the 5th wheel. I wanted to get as much as I could done before it got too hot to work outside. While I am putting up the camera I wanted to run some wires for extra tail lights high on the back of the 5th wheel because the lower ones are hard to see with the motorcycle on the back. So I made a quick trip over to Wal-Mart to get the wire. I had a lot of trouble getting the wire fished up between the wall and back cap. With God’s help I finally got it pulled in where it had to be. I temped the wires from the camera to the truck to make sure it would work. I got the camera mounted as high as I could on the 5th wheel. The camera view doesn’t show as much as I would have liked. I won’t know for sure until I get the motorcycle loaded on the back. By the time I got all this done it was after 4:00 pm and I still have all the wiring to dress up from the back to the front of the 5th wheel. I knew before I started it was going to be a big job. Cheri took Grandma for her blood work at the doctor’s office. She has an appointment with the doctor on Thursday. This evening was our last Life Group meeting; the lesson for the evening was How to Think about God without Being Brainwashed by Modern Philosophies. This was our last meeting for the season. We sure are going to miss the meetings and we hope to keep in touch this summer. The timing was good for us as we are leaving Florida in a couple of weeks. We still have our celebration dinner that is going to be Saturday night. When we got home we had to watch Dancing with the Stars. Cheri was surprised on who got voted off. Of course I couldn’t say one way or the other because I went to sleep during the show last night.

Cheri went shopping today and Bud and I went for our last ride together this season as Bud and Joyce are leaving Saturday to go to upstate New York for the summer. We left with Bud leading today. We made a trip up to the Villages to visit Bud’s aunt who is 92 years old. Bud’s cousins were also there. They took Bud and I out for lunch and then back to his aunt’s place for some pictures. Then we left and headed down to Clermont and stopped at the Harley dealer for a break. It was in the high 80’s today and we needed to make a stop for some water. We made one more stop before we got home for some more water. It was after 4:30 pm before we got home. It was another great 252 mile ride. I was pretty well beat from the heat of the ride. Cheri had supper ready for us when I got home. She made Lasagna and garlic toast and as always it was very good. It is Monday night and you know what that means, yep Dancing with the Stars is on. I fell asleep watching it and finally had to go to bed. Cheri came later after the show was over.

Grandma went to church with us this morning and then treated us to lunch at I-Hop, Thanks Grandma. When we got home we played a couple of games of SOB with Grandma and she won both games. It was near 2:00 pm before we got home. I went out to work on running the backup camera cable and now have it to the back of the 5th wheel. That was all I got done because it was another hot and humid day. I watched the rest of the NASCAR Race which I thought was very good. Being it was Sunday we played lazy the rest of the day watching TV and reading. Another one of our neighbors left for Wisconsin this morning. We only have one neighbor left near us that is still here. I think they are leaving about the same time as us. Over half of the people have already left for the season. Bud stopped by late this afternoon and we are going for a motorcycle ride tomorrow.

It was our Saturday to clean church so we headed for church at 9:00 am. The cleaning went very well as we were the only ones there so we didn’t have anyone in our way. We were done and on our way home by 11:45 am. Cheri had to make a stop at Publix’s to get some grapes so she could make the grape salad for the pot luck supper in the park this evening. I was planning on working on the 5th wheel this afternoon but with the heat and humidity I decided to stay inside where it is nice and cool. I did take our plates along with Grandma’s down to the Rec hall so we would have a place to eat. This afternoon we read, watched TV and napped. The pot luck supper was very good and there were more people than I thought there would be because so many have left for the North Country. I would guess we had about 80 people there. This evening I settled in to watch the NASCAR Race. I couldn’t stay awake for the whole race so I will have to finish watching the race in the morning.

We got a call yesterday from Ron and Sandy, they want us to go and look at a house that they have put an offer on. It is a bank repro and wanted our input on what we thought about the house. We met Ron and Jay at Rick’s restaurant for breakfast. Ron was nice enough to buy everyone’s breakfast (thanks Ron).  Jay used to own a construction company and was a big help in checking everything in the house. Sandy had to work and wasn’t able to be there. After a good look and going through everything we gave Ron a list of things that would have to be fixed. The bank wanted a little more than Ron and Sandy had offered. So long story short they withdrew their offer. There just was too much work to bring it back to the shape it needed. It was noon before we got home. We skipped lunch because we had a big breakfast. Cheri finished her laundry and cleaning and I worked outside on installing the new rear camera on the 5th wheel. I am in the process of running the cable from the back of the 5th wheel to the front. I got cable run from the pin box into the basement which turned out to be a bigger job then I thought it would be. By the time I got that much done I was wet with sweat and decide I had enough for one day. It was 86 degrees out and I was working in the sun. So I headed back inside where Cheri had the air conditioner running, boy did that feel good. After cleaning up I sat down at the computer and got my maps out and started laying out our trip for this summer. The plan today is to leave here on May 2nd or 3rd. Our first stop will be in Alabama to visit friends and then on to New Orleans for a few days. Then we will head to Arkansas to visit friends for a couple of days, then to Branson for a week of shows. From there we will go to Smith Center Kansas where we have an appointment at the factory for our 5th wheel on May 23rd. That is as far as I have got more to come later. We called Ron and Sandy to see if they wanted to go out for supper this evening. So they came over at 5:00 pm to see our 5th wheel as they had never been here before. We went to On Q which is a place we all had been before and is good for ribs and pulled pork. After supper Ron and Sandy dropped us off at home, Sandy had to get home early as she had some sewing that had to be done. It is always nice to spend time with special friends.

It was a pretty quiet day in the neighborhood. We were slow getting around this morning. We did make a trip over to Wal-Mart so Cheri could pick up her medicine. I worked on the motorcycle cleaning the air filter which turned out to be bigger job then I thought it would be. Then I drained the hot water heater and install a shut off valve in place of the plug. By having the valve I can hook a hose to it and then the other end to the black water tank washer. By doing this I get to flush the hot water heater and use the hot water to wash the black water tank out. The hot water does a better job cleaning the black water tank. I got a call from the VA and said that I could come in and get my VA card. So on the way out of the park I see Bud sitting outside so I stopped for a visit and a glass of wine. Finally it was time to head on downtown before the VA closed for the day. I got my picture taken and was told the VA card would be sent to me in about two weeks. I also tried to get a new prescription for my meds and they gave me a paper to fill out and to have Wal-Mart fax it in. I thought that was a little strange but of course it is our government at work, we see what happens when I drop it off at Wal-Mart. Cheri got her quilt hanging done yesterday and so here are a couple of pictures of it. It is called landscape quilting.

John, Bud, Jack, and I left at 9:00 am heading south to Anna Maria Island. Once again I was the leader but it was a ride that Bud wanted to do before we all headed north for the summer. We ate lunch at the City Pier which was very good. Bud and I had made the trip down to the Pier last year and had lunch there so we knew it would be good. After lunch we head on down Longboat Key, I wanted to make a stop to take more pictures but I never found a good spot where we could get some pictures of the bikes with the gulf in the back ground. We worked our way back through Sarasota and stopped on the east side at McDonald’s for a shake and a rest break. Then we headed on east for a while and then north up through Parrish and over to Fort Lonesome where we took another break. Then we headed up through Plant City back to Zephyrhills. We got back home around 4:30 pm. It was a great 213 mile ride and is the last ride for the four of us this season. Jack is leaving for the north on Saturday and John is leaving Sunday. Gary had already left on Monday. Bud is leaving at the end of next week and we hope to get in at least one more ride. Cheri finished up her quilt wall hanging today and I will take some pictures of it and post them tomorrow. I did take a few pictures today until the batteries went dead in the camera. We were on the road by 7:30 am headed to Tampa for my appointment with the foot doctor. We got in a backup of traffic and it took us an hour to go 23 miles. It was a good thing we left early as my appointment wasn’t until 9:00 am and they wanted me there 30 minutes early. We also ran into rain on the way down. As it turned out we were there right at 8:30 am and were called in to see the doctor at 8:45 am. How about that, we got to see the doctor 15 minutes before our scheduled appointment time. That must be something that only happens once in a life time. After talking to the doctor and looking at the x-rays. I decided to wait until fall to have surgery to remove the bunion on my foot. It takes 8 weeks to recuperate from the surgery and we have to be in Smith Center Kansas on May 23rd for our appointment to have work done on our 5th wheel which doesn’t give us enough time this spring. They put some inserts in my shoes that are supposed to help take some pressure off the toes. If I don’t do a lot of walking I can get by pretty good. We were back home by 10:30 am. It finally quit raining around 1:00 pm and we got .7 inch of rain and the sun came out around 4:00 pm. This afternoon we went over to Grandma’s to play SOB. Grandma won the first game and Cheri won the other one. Once again I came out on the losing end. This evening was our Life Group meeting and our lesson for the evening was How to Be a Theologian without Being an Intellectual Snob. It was another interesting evening. When we got home Cheri had to watch Dancing with the Stars. She already had it figured out who was going to get voted off and of course she was right.

Cheri’s girl friend Pat and her husband Roger along with Pats cousin Terri and Louis stopped here at 10:00 am for a visit and to go out for lunch. They are on their way back to Maine. We visited until noon and then went over to Golden Corral for lunch. Then back here for them to say their goodbyes and be on their way. Cheri and I had to go over to Wal-Mart to pickup Grandma’s medicine along with mine. Then over to the road side vegetable stand to get the things we needed for our lunch salads. Then we headed over to Winn Dixie’s for our groceries, they are having a two for one sale on a lot of things so we are going to stock up on the things that we need. By the time we got done with all those things and back home it was already after 3:00 pm and I still hadn’t finished watching the NASCAR Race. Wow what a good race it was. By the time that was over it was time for supper. Oh that right we don’t get any supper tonight because we had a big lunch at Golden Corral. A little after 7:00 pm and still 83 degrees outside we walked down to get our mail and stopped by Ed and Lorraine’s on the way home as they were sitting outside enjoying the nice evening. It was after dark before we got back home and settled in for an evening of TV.

Our usual Sunday turned out to be an interesting and fun day. Grandma has a sore throat so she didn’t want to go to church this morning. After church we usually go to eat with a few of our Life Group friends. Today Pam and Mike were going to drive down to Venice to meet friends Arley and Diana from Illinois that had visited them a few weeks ago. They left some clothes that they had bought when they were at Pam and Mike’s. They asked us if we would like to ride down with them and have lunch with their friends and deliver the clothes. Sounded like fun as we didn’t have any plans for the day. We met their Arley and Diana in down town Venice at a restaurant that Pam and Mike had eaten at before. Well it was closed on Sundays and we started walking down the street looking for another restaurant when Cheri asked a couple we met on the street and asked them where a good place to eat was. They directed us down a side street to a restaurant called Luna on the Island. They said it was known for its generous portions. What a nice little restaurant we had the choice to eat inside or outside, being it was quite warm out we decided to eat inside. Because the couple that told us about the restaurant and their generous portions we each ordered one thing for each couple. Well when it came we couldn’t believe our eyes. One order would have been enough to feed all of us. We had a good laugh and knew we couldn’t possible eat everything. The next time we will know better and there will be a next time as it was sooooo good. After lunch the girls went shopping in all the little shops that lined the street. We guys took in the car show, but it was almost over before we got done eating and only got to see a few cars that hadn’t left. So we sat on the park bench and visited while the girls continued to shop. Then we went to the beach which was only five minutes down the road. Then it was time to say goodbye to Arley and Diana and for us to head for home. Pam had found a couple of homes on line that she wanted to check out so we put the address in the GPS to help us find them. One of them looked very nice but Mike thought it would be too far away from their daughter’s place. None of us was very hungry but around 7:00 pm we decided to stop at Panera Bread for a bowl of soap. Then Mike and Pam dropped us off at our car, said our goodbyes and headed for home. What a wonderful day to spend with close friends. When we got home I started to watch the NASCAR Race that I had recorded. It wasn’t long before I fell asleep in the chair. So we turned off the TV and headed for bed.

Cheri left this morning at 8:30 am and picked up Betty, headed to Dade City. It was the yearly 30% off sale at the quilt store. Wow!! Cheri said she saved us some more money, can’t figure out where all the money is that she saves us, I never get to see it. While Cheri was gone I went down to visit with Bud and see about a motorcycle ride. He had other commitments for the day. It was just as well as I had work that needed to be done. I got the lawn mower out and did our lawn and also Grandma’s. Then I got the weed eater out and did all the trimming and the blower to clean off the patios. By the time I got done with all that I was soaking wet from sweating. So it was time to take another shower. After lunch we chilled out for while and then it was time to go to the car show in Dade city. Not as many cars at the show this time. A lot of the cars are from the north and most of them people have headed back to the North Country for the summer. I personally think it is way too early to go north. After we got home from the car show I got the grill going and did some chicken for supper. It was another dry warm day in the neighborhood.

Hey guys!!! We just hit the Florida lottery for 13.7 million. What a great day it is, April fools. Will we can dream can’t we? Well it’s time to get the day started. We went over and got Grandma’s van and left for Tampa. I had my hearing test (one of a few tests I don’t have to study for) at the VA Audio clinic at 10:30 am. I was about 15 minutes late getting in which isn’t too bad. I was about half done with the test when the lady that was doing the testing said she had emergency telephone call to take. I had to wait an extra half hour which is no big thing when you are retired and no big plans for the day. After the test was over she went over it with Cheri and I. Long story short I should get a hearing aid for my left year. Since we will be leaving Florida in the next month there wouldn’t be time to get it done, so I guess I will wait until this fall to get one. It was 1:00 pm before we got done and on the road. We were both hungry so made a stop at Burger King. Then we headed down farther into Tampa to pick up my replacement air card for the computer. Sure happy to have that back as I hadn’t been able to send any e-mail, so I am back on line again now. We stopped at Wal-Mart on the way home and picked up a few things we needed. It was 3:00 pm before we got home. Then Cheri and I worked on some paper work for Grandma and then went over to her place as we need some additional information to finish filling out the paper work. This evening at 7:00 pm a few of the people from our Life Group got together for a chicken barbeque. After the barbeque Mike and Pam came over to our place to play cards. We played a game of Hand & Foot that the girls won and then a game of SOB which Pam beat me by five points (see I was good to our company). It was near 1:00 am before we crawled into bed. Oh and it was a beautiful day with lots of sunshine and no rain.

It was raining when we got up this morning and didn’t quit until near 8:00 pm this evening. We got a total of 5.5 inches along with a lot of wind and even hail. After the hail stopped we looked outside and the ground was almost white with the hail. It is the first time we have seen hail in Florida. I never think about hail and Florida going together, but I do now. Needless to say we didn’t venture out today, nice to stay home and rest. Cheri did do some laundry and I did some work on the computer, other than that we watched TV and read all day. We still have a lot of shows we have recorded to get caught up on. Cheri did get a call from her girl friend this afternoon and they are heading back to Main on Monday and are going to stop here on their way for lunch. It will be nice to see them one more time before they leave as it will be another year before we see them again. We did think about going out for a movie today but with all the rain and wind we decided to stay home where it’s dry.
