Our usual Sunday turned out to be an interesting and fun day. Grandma has a sore throat so she didn’t want to go to church this morning. After church we usually go to eat with a few of our Life Group friends. Today Pam and Mike were going to drive down to Venice to meet friends Arley and Diana from Illinois that had visited them a few weeks ago. They left some clothes that they had bought when they were at Pam and Mike’s. They asked us if we would like to ride down with them and have lunch with their friends and deliver the clothes. Sounded like fun as we didn’t have any plans for the day. We met their Arley and Diana in down town Venice at a restaurant that Pam and Mike had eaten at before. Well it was closed on Sundays and we started walking down the street looking for another restaurant when Cheri asked a couple we met on the street and asked them where a good place to eat was. They directed us down a side street to a restaurant called Luna on the Island. They said it was known for its generous portions. What a nice little restaurant we had the choice to eat inside or outside, being it was quite warm out we decided to eat inside. Because the couple that told us about the restaurant and their generous portions we each ordered one thing for each couple. Well when it came we couldn’t believe our eyes. One order would have been enough to feed all of us. We had a good laugh and knew we couldn’t possible eat everything. The next time we will know better and there will be a next time as it was sooooo good. After lunch the girls went shopping in all the little shops that lined the street. We guys took in the car show, but it was almost over before we got done eating and only got to see a few cars that hadn’t left. So we sat on the park bench and visited while the girls continued to shop. Then we went to the beach which was only five minutes down the road. Then it was time to say goodbye to Arley and Diana and for us to head for home. Pam had found a couple of homes on line that she wanted to check out so we put the address in the GPS to help us find them. One of them looked very nice but Mike thought it would be too far away from their daughter’s place. None of us was very hungry but around 7:00 pm we decided to stop at Panera Bread for a bowl of soap. Then Mike and Pam dropped us off at our car, said our goodbyes and headed for home. What a wonderful day to spend with close friends. When we got home I started to watch the NASCAR Race that I had recorded. It wasn’t long before I fell asleep in the chair. So we turned off the TV and headed for bed.
