We picked up Grandma and took her to
church with us like most Sundays. Dean had a very good message today called the
Kind Line. It made me do a lot of thinking about what kind of person I am.
After hearing Pastor Dean I have ways to go to get above the Kind Line. Our
Life Group fiends all had other plans today so it was just Grandma, Cheri and
me for lunch today. So we eat at Wendy’s so we could have something light
because we had other plans for the afternoon. After we dropped Grandma off we
stopped by Mike and Mary’s to see if they wanted to go to Lakeland later to eat
at Harry’s. Pam had sent us an e-mail letting us know that Harry’s was celebrating
27 years of service and had 1987 prices good only for today. Mike and Mary wanted
to go so we picked them up around 3:00 pm. On the way Cheri called Harry’s and
told them that we were on our way so they put us on their will call list. We
waited lest then ten minutes to get our table. We all had Jambalaya and Key
Lime pie for dessert. It is my favorite place to eat and we had a great meal
for a very reasonable price. We were back home by 6:00 pm. We both are reading
books and didn’t turn on the TV until late in the evening. The high temp today was
94 and was to feel like 104. I had to water the flowers a couple extra times
today. Thank you Pam for the information on Harry’s.

We didn’t have any big plans for
today so we took our time getting around. When Cheri came out she wanted to
know if we were going out for breakfast this morning. I had thought about it
but sounded like a good idea. So we went to the Sugar Shack which is just down
the road from us. It has been five years or more since we were there last. It was
nothing special but an ok breakfast. We then went to Lowe’s to get the bigger
watering headed for the plants in the flower bed as they weren’t getting enough
water from the watering system. I waited until late this afternoon to work on
it as I wanted to wait until they were in the shade as it was a really hot day.
Cheri spent some time in the sewing room but also spent time reading her book.
I did some internet searching for a motorcycle trailer. Something I could haul
the motorcycle on and still be able to use it to haul materials, just thinking
ahead as when we get the new car we won’t have the van any longer to haul
stuff. This evening the NASCAR race was on so you know where I spent the
evening. During the race Cheri fixed us a pineapple smoothie with fresh
pineapple and it was really good.

Cheri didn’t have pool exercise
again this morning as Mike and Mary had to take their dog back to the vet again
today. I am not happy with the way the drip watering system is working, not getting
enough water so I needed to go back to Lowe’s to get some different water heads
for the plant pots. While we were there we bought another plant (Taiwan Red
Ixora). The Coleus plant looked lonely on the side of the house and we that it
needed some company. Cheri also picked out a nice plant pot for the new plant. On
the way to Lowe’s we stopped by the bank to check on our home owners insurance.
When we took out the loan for the house there was an escrow account set up for
the insurance and needed to check on how we go about making the insurance payment.
Well we got good news as the bank took care of it, so we are good for another
year. When we got home we started to put the new plants in the plant pot and I
told Cheri the pot was too big for the two plants we had so she headed back to
Lowe’s to get an additional plant. I worked on the watering system while she
was gone. I now have the right amount of water to the plant pots but now I am
not happy with the amount of water to the other plants so tomorrow I will make
another trip to Lowe’s to get different heads for that part of the system. That
pretty much took care of our day, still had time to take a nap this afternoon.

It was a busy day for the Sharps.
Cheri didn’t have pool exercise this morning and I passed on my exercise so we
could go to Lowe’s to pick up our plants and get them planted before noon.
While I was planting Cheri went grocery shopping. I did get done with the
planting around 11:30 am. The reason I had to get it done was Ron and Sandy was
coming at 1:00 pm with a load of gravel for the flower bed. When they got here
Sandy had a quilt project she wanted Cheri to help her get it cut out and ready
to sew. Ron isn’t able to do too much so he took it easy and every once in a
while he would come out and see how I was doing. He did help me get the plant
pots put in the flower bed. It was near 4:00 pm when we finished and Sandy and
Cheri finished about the same time. I jump in the shower and boy did that ever
feel good. Then I got the grill started to grill up some hamburgers for supper.
We had invited Ron and Sandy to stay for supper with us. We had a nice visit before
Ron and Sandy had to leave. It was a long day and I was really tired, was in
bed by 9:00 pm.

I headed out about the same time as Cheri
did when she went for her pool exercise. Today my plan was to get the flower
bed ready for the plants. First I went to the neighbor place next door and did
some weeding and tree trimming before I started on my project. By lunch time I
had the dirt leveled off and mixed new dirt with some additives and put that in
where the plants will be planted. I also got the weed burier laid out before
lunch. Cheri was busy in her sewing room when I came in for lunch. This
afternoon Cheri had some errands to do and I started work on the drip watering
system. I ended up having to make two trips to Lowe’s for parts I need to
finish the job. It was 3:00 pm when I got
done and still have the drip lines to install. I had enough for the day as I was
hot wet with sweat and ready for a shower. Long story short I am about a half day
behind where I thought I would be today. Well there is always tomorrow (God
welling). We met Mike and Pam at Walgreens at 5:30 pm to ride with them to
church for our Bible study. On the way we stopped at Wendy’s where we met Ron
and Sandy to have something to eat before Bible study. I thought Pastor Dean
did a good job of explaining things in Revelations. It is a good day when you
can spend time with friends and learning how to follow God.

Forty seven years ago today Cheri
and I were married in Lewiston Maine. It has been a wonderful adventure through
life and have shared many good times together and looking for many more. So
that met no work for today because we were going to celebrate. We had an
appointment over in Wesley Chapel this morning and decided to go a new place
called Cody’s Original Roadhouse for lunch. Well when we got there we found out
that they don’t open until 3:00 pm. We were kind of bummed out and decided to
go to a Greek restaurant that we had been to once before which was very good.
On the way to the restaurant we stopped by the Honda dealer to check out new
cars. We knew that in the future we were going to have to get something
different. I have been doing a lot of internet searching and reading consumers
reports on different makes and models. I came to the concussion that the Honda
Civic was what we should have. Having never looked a one before we thought we
should see if we even liked the Honda Civic. We looked at several different
models of the Civic and did take one for a test drive and were very impressed
with it. Cheri found the color that she would like to have. They didn’t have
the model and color that she wanted. They also check with other dealers and
there was none to be had so we ordered a new one that should be delivered in
about eight weeks. What a wedding anniversary present. By the time we were done
it was after 3:00 pm so we headed back to Cody’s to eat and was very good.

No work today so we took our time
getting around this morning. We both did our morning routine, coffee,
breakfast, Bible study, exercise, shower and shave. Yes Cheri does shave…..her
legs. Cheri spent most of the day in the sewing room and reading her book. I
took Grandma for her 10:20 am doctor’s appointment. That went well and she got
a good report. Then home for lunch and then back to pick up Grandma and take
her for her B-12 shot at 1:15 pm. On the way home I stopped at Mike and Mary’s
to help Mike remove a washing machine and get it loaded into the truck and move
a different machine into the house. After all that I wasn’t in the mood to go
out and do any work as it was hot and humid. Plus later we got rain. We did
watch part of a two hour plus video lesson on the computer called 3053 The
Entire History Of The Old Testament In One Lesson. It is very interesting so
far. If you are interested you can find it at this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Glae61gEHGU .

We picked up Grandma at 9:00 am and
headed to church. Pastor Dean had a very good message about John the Baptist and
Jesus. After church seven of us went to Island Breeze for lunch, we had another
great lunch and that is why we keep going back. Grandma even got a free dessert
for her birthday. After we dropped Grandma off, we met Ron and Sandy at Home
Depot and then went to Lakeland. Sandy has retired and wants to get back into
sewing more. So she and Cheri went to Jo-Ann Fabrics and Ron and I went to
Harbor Freight. Ron had a couple of things he needed and I found a couple
things that I thought I should have. We were ready to leave Harbor Freight when
it started to rain; it came down in buckets and had to wait about twenty
minutes before we could make a run for the car. We picked up Cheri and Sandy,
Sandy was really excited and happy about all the things she got at 60 percent
off. Then we stopped at a Wawa store. It is new to Lakeland, Cheri and I had
never been to one before. It is an upscale gas station with fast food, only
found in about five states along the east coast. They do have some good smoothies
as I had a peach with yogurt and Cheri had a chocolate mint shake. Ron also had
a smoothie and Sandy had a coke. Then we headed back to Home Depot to pick up
our car. We had a good time with Ron and Sandy. When we got home it was time
for me to watch the NASCAR race I had recorded and Cheri settled in with her book
and a nap.

So today was the first day of summer
and the most day light. I think in Florida summer begins in May. Love having
the day light into the evening. This morning Cheri and I worked on getting the
flowers planted in the pots. So now I need to get the flower garden ready for
them. After lunch we went over to Grandma’s to pick up her list of groceries
she needed. Our first stop was Lowe’s to get what I need to build the water
drip system for the plants and flowers. From there we stopped at Wal-Mart to
get the groceries. We went home to drop off our groceries and then back to
Grandma’s with hers. Then we took Grandma and headed to Lakeland to have
Chinese for Grandma’s birthday which is tomorrow, 93 years young. We had asked
her where she wanted to eat and she said she wanted Chinese. When we got back
to her place we played a couple of games of SOB which Cheri and Grandma each
won a game. When we got home we both sat down and read for a couple of hours
before turning on the TV.

I feel like I am low on energy today
and running only at half throttle. Cheri on the other hand is busy getting her
laundry and house work done. I am just trying to stay out of her way so I don’t
get run over. I took Grandma for her lab appointment this morning. Later I
cleaned up the shop and got things put away from the awning project and now
ready for our next project of getting flowers. Later this afternoon Cheri and I
went looking at flowers again. First we went to K-Mart and didn’t see anything
there and then to Lowe’s as we got a flyer in the paper that they have a sale
on flowers. We have finally settled on red Vinca with a Spike Dracaena in the
center of the pot. We left without buying them as we are still looking for some
vermiculite to mix with the potting soil, we have been to several places and
they are out of it or don’t sell it. So we headed to Home Depot and did find a
big bag of vermiculite (enough to last a hundred years), really didn’t want to
buy a big bag but was tired of traveling all over looking for it and probably
would spend it in gas trying to find a smaller bag. So we headed back to Lowe’s
and bought the flowers. It was 4:00 pm when we got home and decided to wait
until tomorrow to do the planting. Mike and I had security this evening, nice
evening to be out and about in the security golf cart. We could see a lot of
lighting in the north and figured we would be getting rain, but never did. It
was pretty quiet so we quit around 10:30 pm.

I had so much fun doing nothing
yesterday I wanted to do more of that today. So we both did our exercises and
Bible study this morning. After Cheri got the laundry done she headed out to
Wesley Chapel and I met Mike for breakfast at the Village Inn. He had an appointment
for a fasting lab this morning and we thought it would be a good time to have a
man’s morning out. When I got home I felt guilty for not doing anything so I went
out and worked on finishing up the awning project. It was 4:15 pm when I got
done and we had to be down at the Rec hall for pizza at 4:45pm and I still needed
to take a shower and get cleaned up. Cheri spent the afternoon in the recliner
with a good book. We met Mike and Mary at the hall for pizza and had a nice
visit with them. When we got home we both were reading and watching TV when the
phone rang and it was Ron and Sandy wanting to meet us at DQ for an ice cream.
Sounded like a good idea so we headed for DQ. Cheri and I each had a Butter
Finger Blizzard visited with Ron and Sandy until around 8:30 pm. Here are
pictures of the new house awnings.

No work today. I spent the morning
doing my exercises and Bible study getting ready for a relaxing day. When Cheri
got home from the pool it was time for her to get ready for us to pick up Mike
and Mary and head to Bartow to meet Norm and Marlene for lunch at Sonny’s. We
got there at 11:00 am and they had just opened which was good timing. We had a
good long visit and didn’t get on the road for home until 1:30 pm. We stopped
at Lowe’s in Plant City to see if we could get some vermiculite to mix with the
potting soil we have for the plant pots. We had tried to get some in Zephyrhills
and they were out of it, well Lowe’s in Plant City was also out of it. It was
near 3:00 pm when we got home. We took it easy and read before it was time to
leave and meet our Life Group friends at Wendy’s for supper before heading to
church for our Wednesday night Bible study on Revolutions. We got home around
8:30 pm, watched a little TV and called a day. It was nice to have a relaxing
day and spend it with friends.

When Cheri got home from the pool
she was busy getting her house work done so she could spend time in the sewing
room. She also started the crock pot of barbeque spare ribs to have for supper.
I like it when we have something in the crock pot as it makes for a nice aroma
in the house, also makes me hungry. I worked on the awnings again today and got
the one up on the south side of the house. All I got left to do is tie the
corners of the front and the side awnings together. I was done around 11:30 am
and had to get cleaned up and ready for the 1:00 pm security meeting at the Rec
hall. There is a problem with installing a LED light that was donated to be put
on the security golf cart. I volunteered to check it out, turns out the light
never worked or someone tried to hook it up with 36 volts and blew out the
LEDs. While checking it out I see who ever did the wiring over the years did a
really poor job. So when I get some time I am going to rewire it, just what I
need is another project. This evening Pam called and wanted to bring their
daughter and grandson over to see our house. We had wanted to have Jenny and
Mason over to see it.

Shortly after Cheri left for her
pool exercise I was out working on the awning installation. Without any
instructions I did have to and check out the awnings on another house here in
the park to make sure I was doing it correctly. Cheri left around 10:30 am to
run some errands and shopping. I finally took a break around 12:30 pm. I was
really hot and needed to get inside to cool down. Cheri got home a few minutes
later and we had lunch before I headed back outside. It was another hot 90 plus
day, I think I drank four bottles of water while working. I did get the front
awning up by 3:30 pm, it looks very nice. I was tired and too late to start on
the side awning, hope I have enough energy to put it up tomorrow. When I came
in Cheri was busy in the sewing room and just about has the 5th
panel of the Christmas wall hanging done. After a good long shower I headed for
the recliner and did my Bible study and then took an hour’s nap before supper.
This evening we got a call from some long time friends John & Linda in
Wisconsin. It was sure good to visit with them and get caught up on what is
going on in our old neighborhood. We didn’t get a chance to see them last October
as they were in Arizona.

Happy Father’s day to all the
fathers, I for one got calls from our two daughters wishing me a happy father’s
day and a happy birthday, how great is that. We picked up Grandma for church
and she had a birthday card and a box of candy for me. We were surprised to see
Ron and Sandy in church. He said that he was feeling better but tired. They did
go out for lunch with us at Island Breeze. We were surprised when we got the
bill as they didn’t charge Ron and I for our lunch because it was father’s day,
how nice was that. After lunch Ron and Sandy came over to see our new driveway
and our new laundry closet. We visited for a while and Ron said that their
kitchen sink was stopped up and couldn’t get it to drain. So Cheri and I took
my drain snake and went over to their place to see if I could get it open. The
drain trap was open so I put the snake in and didn’t really find anything. Ron
had a pressure adapter so we could use the water hose on it and between that
and the snake we got it cleaned out and working again. Than we sat down and
visited for a while. Sandy gave us some tips on flowers for our flower pot that
we are going to put out in front of the house. It was near 4:00 pm when we finally
got home. I settled in and watched the NASCAR race that I had recorded and Cheri
settled in with a book she is reading. I thought we were going to have a day
without rain but around 9:00 pm we got a rain shower.

At 8:30 am we headed down to the Rec
hall for a breakfast of pancakes and sausage along with orange juice and
coffee. It is the first time that they have had a breakfast in the hall. They
need to tweak a few things but should be Ok. Late yesterday afternoon the door
bell rang and when I went to look the UPS truck was just pulling away and there
was a big package sitting by the door. We had no idea what it could be as we
hadn’t ordered anything. Well when we opened it up it was cooler full of Omaha
steaks from our son Darren. He had sent it to me for my birthday and Fathers
Day, how nice it that. The window on the passenger side of the van hasn’t been
working very well and the other day it went down and not back up. After many
tries and pushing on it we got it up most of the way. So today I took it apart
and found the lift cable was broke. I had said that I wasn’t putting any more
money in this vehicle so I cut a piece of wood and screwed it in place to hold
up the window so no opening that window. I also cleaned out the bird feeders
and rained before I got done so I had to finish between rain showers. The rain
started around 9:30 am and continued off and on all day just like yesterday,
got a half inch yesterday and a half inch today. Cheri spent most of the day in
her sewing room making good progress on her quilt project. Cheri called Sandy
to see how Ron was doing and he is still in the hospital waiting to see the
doctor as he was ready to go home.

Friday
the 13th, ever wonder why it is supposed to be an unlucky day? Well I
did some checking and this is what I found on USA Today:
Everyone knows
Friday the 13th is considered an unlucky day. But why does it have such a bad
reputation?
One reason is
that both Friday and the number 13 have some troubled ties to Christianity.
It was on a
Friday that Jesus was crucified, and ever since, the day has been associated
with "general ill omen," Michael Bailey, a history professor at Iowa
State University who specializes in the origins of superstitions, tells USA
TODAY Network.
In the Middle
Ages, for instance, weddings were not held on Fridays; likewise, it was not a
day someone would set out on a journey, Bailey says.
Friday was also
unlucky in medieval times because it was "hangman's day," says Stuart
Vyse, a psychology professor at Connecticut College, in an interview with USA
TODAY Network.
As for the
number 13, Vyse says, seating 13 people at a table was seen as bad luck because
Judas Iscariot, the disciple who betrayed Jesus, is said to have been the 13th
guest at the Last Supper.
It's unclear
exactly when Friday and the number 13 became linked, but there are no mentions
of Friday the 13th before the 19th century, Bailey and Vyse say.
In 1907, Thomas
Lawson wrote a book titled Friday, the Thirteenth, which described a
stockbroker choosing this day to bring down Wall Street.
More recently,
the Friday the 13th slasher-movie franchise, which started in 1980,
further solidified this day's notoriety.
Vyse, who
specializes in the psychology of superstitions, says these kinds of beliefs are
a way for people to "control the uncontrollable" and manage the
anxiety that comes with uncertain situations.
Although
there's evidence that believing in lucky symbols is beneficial, taboo
superstitions such as Friday the 13th represent a kind of phobia, Vyse says.
In fact, fear
of Friday the 13th has a name: paraskevidekatriaphobia.
In Vyse's view,
"we would be better off if no one had ever taught them to us."
So there you
have it.
We got a call
from Pam around 9:00 am telling us that Sandy took Ron to the emergency room
early this morning as his heart went out of rhythm (beating too fast). So Cheri
and I headed to the hospital to see him. We got there the same time as Mike and
Pam. When we got to his room he was resting and feeling better but his heart
still wasn’t beating right. We visited for a while and then left so he could
rest. From there we along with Mike and Pam went to the Hibachi Japanese grill
which was just up the road for lunch. Then Cheri and I headed back to Zephyrhills
to check on a house for Larry and Denise, turned out that it had already been
sold. I also got a call that our awnings where in so we picked them up and
headed home. I asked the guy the guy that helped me load them about the
installation instructions and he said they were in the package. Well when I got
home there weren’t any instructions or screws to mount them. I went back and
told them about no instructions and was told there isn’t any that it is a simple
install. I did get the screws and went home very unhappy (maybe it is Friday
the 13th). I stopped by a house in our park that has them so now I know
how to go about the installation. This evening we were invited up to Mike and
Pam’s to play cards. When we got there Pam said that she got a call from Sandy
and Ron’s heart was back in rhythm, good news. It rained again today and got
another half inch.

It
was laundry day and house cleaning for Cheri. I worked on cleaning the
motorcycle. Something I should have done a long time ago. I kept putting it off
because it is a job I don’t like doing. I guess if you want to have the fun and
enjoyment of the riding you have to go through the pain of keeping it clean.
The worst part is cleaning the spokes and whitewalls, today I used the new
power washer and that made the job a lot easier. It was getting hot and I didn’t
think I would be able to finish the bike cleaning and then came a hard rain
that cooled things down and was able to finish the job. It was near 2:00 pm
before I got done and was ready for a late lunch and a shower. Cheri had some errands
to do today plus picked up Grandma’s medicine and dropped it off for her. It continued
to rain on an off all day, each rain didn’t last long but rained really hard. I
checked the rain gauge and we received 1 ¾ inches. This evening we got a call
from Larry and Denise and told us they sold their motor home today. They are
now ready to look for a winter home here in Zephyrhills. Tomorrow we are going
to go and check on one that they looked at this spring before they went north
for the summer.

We
didn’t have any projects planned for the day so when Cheri got home from the
pool we decided to go shopping for flowers. As long as we have the plant pots even
though we aren’t ready to place them in the flower bed because we are still waiting
for the awning to come but could set the flowers along the driveway. Our first
stop was the church to check out the new building that is going to be the food
pantry along with three offices. The drywall is up, plastered, and ready for
paint. I think that within the next two weeks it will be done and ready to use.
Then we headed to Home Depot to check out the flowers. Cheri and I looked for a
long time and can’t decide what we wanted. We toss around some different ideas
and still left out anything. We both have different ideas on what we want. Our
next stop was Lowe’s, still couldn’t make up our minds. We did buy the potting
soil and some things to mix with it. We were right by Wal-Mart and needed to
pick up Grandma’s medicine but it wasn’t all there, one the doctor’s still hasn’t
send the prescription over. We checked the flowers there and still nothing. So
we headed home. This evening was Bible study so we met Ron & Sandy and Mike
& Pam at Wendy’s for supper and visiting before heading to church. It was
another good night of Bible study. Pastor Dean spent the entire evening on
chapter one of Revelations. We came away with a better understanding of what
John went through.

I
got my exercising done early so I could go out and work in the shop on the cord
container before it got too hot. When Cheri got back from the pool she was busy
getting her weekly house cleaning done. Then she spent the rest of the day in
the sewing room. I got the cord container painted and installed, came out
looking pretty good. It took me until 2:30 pm to get the project done. It was
hot out and was glad to be done for the day. Around 4:00 pm we got the tail end
of a bad thunder storm with some strong wind that came through, didn’t last
long. The temp dropped from 92 degrees to 72 degrees in two hours. I checked
the rain gauge and we received less than a half inch of rain. I got a call from
Bahr’s Aluminum with the quote on the carport and the price was twice what I thought
it would be, looks like it is going to be a long time before we can do that project.

headed out early before Cheri left to do her pool exercise and worked on the

projects and put it up in the sun room as she has no room for it in her sewing
room. While Cheri was out this morning she picked up some boneless pork chops
at Winn Dixie to do on the grill. We got an e-mail from Grandma letting us know
she needed medicine. So this afternoon we drove over to her place so we could
see what all she needed and Cheri called in the prescriptions to Wal-Mart and
also had to call a couple of doctors to get new prescriptions. While we were
out we stopped at Lowe’s to get the paint for the container cord box, also
picked up a bag of water softener salt. It was after 3:00 pm when we got home.
I was done for the day; Cheri worked for a while in the sewing room. I see that
she has another panel done for the Christmas wall hanging, two more to go and
she will be ready to put them together.

Grandma
didn’t go to church with us today. We had a guest speaker and there wasn’t a written
message for her to read and follow along with. She went to church with friends
from her park. Our guest speaker was Dr. Paul Copan. The name of his message
was If God created the Univerise, who created God. Cheri and I discussed it after the service and I think we are
more confused than we were before, but it did get us to thinking. After church
there were nine of us that went to Olive Garden for lunch. We had a really good
meal and an excellent waiter. After lunch Cheri and I went shopping at Beall’s.
They had a Father’s Day sale going on and I needed some new shirts according to
Cheri. I hate shopping for clothes; Cheri usually buys me clothes when she is
out shopping. I did get three new shirts. We also made a quick stop at Lowe’s
to pick up a couple of things the desk cord container, then a stop at Wal-Mart
for a few things that we forgot to get the other day. It was near 3:00 pm when
we got home. Cheri headed for the sewing room and I headed to the recliner to
watch the NASCAR race I was recording. It was another hot humid day with the
temp in the low 90’s, I think summer as arrived.

It
was 10:00 am before I was ready to get any work done, just slow getting around
this morning. Cheri spent most of the morning and part of the afternoon in the
sewing room. I did go out and watered the Hibiscus; it looks like it is going
to live through the move from the front of the house to the back. I also got
the white rocks rinsed off and laid out in the sun to dry off before putting
them in a tub. They are now ready for the renewing of the flower bed which
won’t be done until after I get the new awning up that we are still waiting
for. I started laying out plans to build a small unit to have on our computer
desk to hide all the cords and a place to set the printer. Well it got too hot
outside so I called it a day, as it was another hot humid day with a high temp
in the low 90’s. Cheri and I both took a nap in the recliners this afternoon
and then spent time doing some Bible study on Revelations.
I really did wash the white rocks. |
The new driveway is now ready to use. |

It
was a very hot and humid day with a high temp in the low 90’s plus there wasn’t
any breeze. So I didn’t plan on doing anything outside. Yesterday I had stopped
by to check on the new awnings and was told they would come in about a week.
Well today they told me it takes 10 days to two weeks, while I was there I
asked them if they would come and give me an estimate on materials and labor to
extend the carport over the new drive way. Well this morning they called and
wanted to come out to see what I wanted and to measure up for the materials. Now
I wait to see if we can afford to move ahead with that project. Cheri finished
laundry for the day and fixed some hamburgers for me to do on the grill for
lunch today. So around 11:30 am I got the grill out and ready for grilling
hamburgers and hotdogs. After lunch I felt guilty that I hadn’t done anything
so while I was out watering the Hibiscus I set up the fan under the carport so
I could have a breeze while I finished washing the white flower bed rocks. I now have them in a bath of beach water to
help whiten them. All that is left to do is give them a good rinsing and let
them dry. Cheri spent most of the afternoon in the sewing room working on the
Christmas quilt wall hanging. Late afternoon we sat down and listened to one of
Dr, Larry Ollison Bible teaching CD.s We really like his teachings as they are
so easy to understand.

We
received an e-mail from Grandma telling us that one of the fan blades on her
ceiling fan broke and fell on the floor. So this morning I went over to check
it out. I ended up going to Lowe’s to get a new fan and got it installed by
noon. When I got home Cheri was finishing up our laundry and house cleaning.
This afternoon we went to get haircuts. When we got there no one was waiting so
only had to wait for them to finish with the ones they were working on. But
right after we checked in a lot of people came and soon it was an hour’s wait. It
was hot and muggy today so we stayed in the rest of the afternoon. Old people
do funny things and today it was my turn. I put a cup of coffee in the
microwave to heat it up and when the buzzer went off letting me know it was
done, so what do I do, I open the refrigerator looking for the coffee. Sure
made me feel stupid. Pam and Mike invited us up to their place for supper and
to play games. They taught us a game called Rummikub and then we played the
game Skip-Bo. After we were done playing we discussed our Bible study on Revelations.
Pam and Mike brought out some very good points that we hadn’t thought of. It is
nice to have good friends to help guild us in our journey with God.

It
was a quiet day around the Sharp house today, not much going on. We did our usual
morning exercise, breakfast, newspaper, and Bible study. Cheri spent all day in
the sewing room and I went outside and did something that normal people wouldn’t
do. I cleaned out most of the white rocks from the flower bed by the house.
Nothing unusual about that, but then I spent the rest of the day washing the
rocks trying to get the leaves and dirt out of them. I got most of them washed
and have a big tub full, still have another big bucket full to clean. I am
soaking them in the big tub and will get some bleach to help make them nice and
white again. Most people would throw them away and get new ones (I am cheap). This
evening was our first summer Bible study at church. Pastor Dean is leading the
study on the book of Revelations. He spent the night on how to go about reading
and understanding what it is about. We are really looking forward to the coming
weeks to get a full understanding of Revelations. We had met Ron and Sandy at
Wendy’s for supper before heading to church.

Cheri
had a busy morning as she did her pool exercise and did her house cleaning. I
skipped the exercise and went outside to get some work done before it got too
hot. I cleaned the neighbor’s flower beds and worked in the shop until noon.
After lunch Cheri worked in the sewing room and I decided to go for a
motorcycle ride. It was overcast day with low humidity and thought it would be
a good day to for a ride. It has been a long time since my last ride. The bike
was all dusty and dirty from other rides. I really should have washed and
detailed it. Let’s see which is more fun washing and detailing or going for a
ride, not too hard to figure that out. I rode up around Brooksville and tried
some new roads, some good and some not so good. I put on 124 miles before I got
back home. Cheri was still in the sewing room. I fixed us a drink and relaxed a
while before supper. Cheri fixed a ham and potato casserole which was very
good. I thought that the new awning would come today but that didn’t happen,
maybe tomorrow. I really don’t want to start any other projects until I get the
awning up.

It
was back to our weekly routine as far as exercise goes. It felt good as the
back and hip were much better today. Cheri wasn’t home all that long before it
was time for her to leave for her knee physical therapy. I went outside early
this morning and moved the dirt back along the driveway; put some dirt along
the side of the house where I buried the new water line. I still had some left
over to spread in the back yard. Now I need to get some grass seed to finish
the job. When Cheri got home we had a late lunch and then went over to Grandma’s
to get her grocery list and then we went to Wal-Mart. It was pretty busy and
was glad to get out of there. By the time all was said and done it was near
4:00 pm when we arrived back home. It started to rain just as we were pulling
into the carport. It was nice to have the rain as I didn’t have to wet down the
driveway. After supper we went over to
visit with Mike and Mary. They have been working in their bedroom doing a
remodel job; they are just about done and looked very nice. We sat outside to
visit as it was nice day with very low humidity. It was near 9:00 pm when we
got back home, watched a little TV and called it a night.

It
seems like it was just yesterday I was wondering where April went and here it
is June already. My back and hip are feeling a bit better today so I think
another day of rest is in order. We picked up Grandma and took her to church
with us. Pastor Dean had a very good message for the high school graduates.
After church Mike & Pam along with two of their grandsons went out for
lunch with us at Fire House Subs. We got home around 1:00 pm. I did go out and
water the Hibiscus and wet down the driveway. Cheri spent some time in the
sewing room. The rest of the day was spent in the recliner. Watched the NASCAR
race and a couple of movies we had recorded.

I
had a hard time getting anything done today as I have a lot of pain in the back
and hip. Cheri fixed us a breakfast of bacon with eggs and hash browns fried in
the bacon grease. It may not be the healthiest breakfast but it sure did taste
good, need that bacon grease for the flavor. Cheri spent most of the day in the
sewing room. She has finished another panel of the Christmas wall hanging.
There are six panels and now has three of them done. I did go outside for a
while and watered the Hibiscus that I moved, looks good, think it is going to
be OK. I sprayed down the driveway with water and did some chalking on the rain
gutters. I was done by noon and hurting so the rest of the day was spent in the
recliner. Later in the afternoon Cheri joined me to watch a movie and then the
NASCAR race. We got a rain shower early evening so I didn’t have to go out and
spray down the driveway again.
