It started raining around
4:00 am nothing real hard just a nice rain. Cheri and I left this morning
around 9:30 am to go and see Mike and Mary who live in Safety Harbor which is
about an hour and a half away. They use to live in the same park as us. So we do
see them about once a month. About half of the drive was in rain and then it
turned out to be a beautiful day. We had a nice visit and then went out for
lunch at Monger Burger for a hamburger. It was the first time Cheri and I have
been to one and was very good. They use fresh meat and have all different kinds
of toppings. We checked and they have one in Wesley Chapel so we will be going
again. We left Mike and Mary’s around 3:30 and headed home. As long as we were
going through Wesley Chapel we decided to stop at the Honda dealer to see if we
could get the car in for service. It worked out well as we got right in and
they took Cheri over to Michel’s so she could get the materials for the Halloween
wreath she wants to make. It took about an hour to get the car done and then I
went and picked up Cheri. One last stop at the huge Wal-Mart in Wesley Chapel
to get a few groceries and other things we needed. The car and Michel’s were
things we were going to do tomorrow so it was nice to get them done today. So I
will have more time to assemble kitchen cabinets tomorrow. I checked the rain
gauge when we got home and received one and a half inch. It was a nice relaxing
and stress free day.

My project for the day was
to get the can lights installed in the kitchen. Cheri helped by moving things
off the counters so that it would be easier to get things cleaned up as cutting
holes in the ceiling does make a mess. Although I took an old Frisbee and drill
a hole though the center and put it over the hole saw which worked well to
catch most of the dust and debris from the drilling of the sheet rock on the
ceiling. The only miss hap today was going up the ladder I got the valve of my
leg bag caught on the ladder and came open so I had pee all over the ladder and
on the floor. It wasn’t bad enough that it happened once but I did it twice. I
wasn’t happy but afterwards Cheri and I had a good laugh because it isn’t every
day you pee on the kitchen floor. In between the installing of the kitchen
lights we received the rest of the kitchen cabinets. It was around 4:00 pm when
I got done with the lights and Cheri went to work with all the cleaning. This
evening Dancing with the Stars and Green Bay Packer football was on. I watched
half of the Dancing with the Stars with Cheri and then Cheri headed to the
bedroom to watch the rest of the show and I settled in to watch the Packers
play. The game didn’t get over until midnight.

Grandma went to church
with us this morning. Pastor Randy had an excellent message that covered all of
Romans chapter eight. One I need to read again as Pastor Randy brought out so
many things. Sunday school was good but missed our usual teacher. After Sunday
school we along with Grandma, Mel, and Jan met Mike and Pam at the Village Inn
in Zephyrhills for lunch. After lunch we dropped of Grandma and headed to the
theater to meet Mike and Pam for the movie Intern which was very good. I have
heard that the rating weren’t very good but I thought it was an eight out of
ten, much better than all the R rated movies that go around. It was around 4:30
pm when we arrived home. Cheri settled in with her I-Pad and I to watch the
NASCAR race. Because of the big lunch we had supper was just a bowl of cereal.
We got a hard rain around 7:00 pm and received just under an inch. We also had
rain the night before and received two and a half inches. It was nice that I
didn’t have to water flowers. We went out around 9:30 pm to see the blood moon
but it was two cloudy. We went out again at 10:30 pm was able to see it and was
about 95% red.

The plan was for me was to
sleep in this morning like Cheri did but it didn’t happen because yesterday I
was trying different things with the new cell phone and had set an alarm on the
phone and forgot to remove it so I got a 6:00 am call, so much for sleeping in.
It turned out to be a good thing as by getting around earlier I got the
motorcycle waxed and put back together. I am so happy to have that project done
which has been dragging on since last May. Cheri finished a table center quilt
that she had started a few years ago. So you might say it was a catching up of
old projects day. This afternoon I did the kitchen lay for the can lights.
After much checking I found that the rafters are on two foot centers so I
planed the can lights to fall between the rafters. So with the lay out done I
made my first hole and hit a rafter dead center. For some reason they had put a
rafter in between the standard spacing in just this spot. So I wasn’t happy
about that and trying to fix the ceiling is going to be a job because it is a
pop corn ceiling. After all was said and done I did get one light done and now
have six more to do. I needed to quit and was ready was ready to quit for the
day as I was in Cheri’s way to fix supper. After watching a few new shows on TV
I settled in to watch the Wisconsin Badger football game which they won. So it
was another late night before getting to bed.

We were busy today. It all
started this morning with trying to figure out how to use our new cell phones.
It was a lot of frustration and laughter. A little later I headed over to Mel
and Jan’s to install a step railing for the entry into their house. Cheri
headed out shopping with Pam. The work on the railing went smoothly and was
done a little before noon. Jan went and got us sub sandwiches from Subway.
After I was done at Mel and Jan’s I headed to Dade City and bought the barn board
plaque that Cheri had found and wanted but had decided it was too much and I could
make one for her. Well I decided she shouldn’t have to wait for me to make it.
So when I got home I surprised her with it. She is now one happy lady. Cheri
said she had fun shopping with Pam had gotten home a little before me and was
working or playing with her cell phone. She has the texting figured out and is
working on the camera part and storing pictures. This afternoon we headed to
Lakeland to give an update to the people where we ordered our counter top. We received
good and bad news. The lady had miss figured how much we were going to need.
She had said that we needed only one slab of granite so of course when she
found out that we needed two slabs the second matching slab was gone. The good
news is she showed us two matching slabs that may be better than the ones we picked
out before. They have two more slabs coming next week that she wants us to look
at before we make our decision. At first we were pretty disappointed but we
know that God said we weren’t supposed to have the ones we had picked out first.
Our next stop was Jo-Ann Fabrics as Cheri was looking for a few things to make
a Halloween wreath. It was after 5:00 pm when we finally got home.

I worked on the driveway
this morning. I was really impressed with the power washer scrubbing attachment
I bought yesterday. I did in an hour and a half what it would have taken me
probably three days to do with the power washer without the scrubber. I always dreaded
cleaning the driveway but this time I actually enjoyed doing it. Although I did
have trouble getting the power washer started. I had to run it on full choke
and so one of my next projects is to take it apart and clean the carburetor
which could turn out to be a big project. After lunch Cheri and I headed out to
see about getting Cheri new glasses and end up getting them from Eye Glass
World in Wesley Chapel. It took a while for her to pick out the frames she
wanted and we also got her prescription sun glasses. They told us it would take
two week before they would be ready. Cheri will be happy to get them as she
will be able drive again. Our next stop was the phone store to get new phones.
We were dumb people with dumb phones and now are dumb people with smart phones.
Now we need a fifth grader to show us how to use them. From everything we were
told we can do with them I think we can still make calls with them because they
are called phones. It is going to be a long learning experience. On the way
back home Cheri talked to Pam and Pam said to wait in the Walgreen parking lot.
From there Mike, Pam, Cheri, and I were going to Ron and Sandy’s and them out
for dinner. Then it was back to Ron and Sandy’s for our first fall Life Group
gathering. We really do look forward to our Life Group as we have great
fellowship and learning about God with great christens, doesn’t get any better than
that.

It was a busy day for the
Sharps. We left the house at 9:20 am to pick up Grandma and take her for her
doctor’s appointment and dropped Cheri off for her eye appointment we were
lucky has they were both in the same complex. After Grandma’s appointment I
dropped her off at home and then went back to be with Cheri. I was there in
time to be with her when she saw the doctor. She is going to have to get
glasses and now has a prescription so now we need to go looking for glasses. It
was almost noon when we got done so we headed to Village Inn for lunch and was
very good. We had a half sandwich and a bowl of soup. Plus Wednesday is free
pie day which we had forgotten about until we went in. So of course we had the
free pie too. Then it was time to head to Wal-Mart to get groceries for Grandma
and ourselves. Grandma had a big list as well as us so we took two carts to
keep them separated. It was very hard and will not do it that way again. It
would have been easier if we would have gotten Grandma’s and taken them to her
and then go and get ours. When we picked up our mail we had a letter from the
park saying that we needed to get our driveway power washed and have seven days
to get it done. I know it needs to be done and have been putting it off because
I haven’t felt like doing it. It was 3:30 pm when we got home. Cheri said that
she needed to rest awhile and I headed to Lowe’s and Home Depot to see about
getting a scrubber attachment for the power washer to make cleaning the
driveway easier. I found what I was looking for at Home Depot. So I guess you
know what I will be doing tomorrow.

I headed out before it got
too warm and cleaned out the rain gutters. While I was doing the rain gutters
our next door neighbor Jean came over to see if I would fix one of her screens
and put it up. So after the rain gutters I fixed her screen and got it put up
for her. It was around 11:30 am when I finished and got in the house. Cheri was
just finishing her Tuesday house work. I headed to the shower to get cleaned up
as I was all sweaty. While I was getting cleaned up Cheri came in and said that
Norm and Marlene were here. Norm had lost a tooth from his faults teeth and was
in town to have it replaced so they came to see us while they waited for his
teeth to be fixed. We don’t get to see them very often since they now live over
a hundred miles away. They left around 1:30 pm. I was having a problem with my
cell phone yesterday. When I would receive a call I couldn’t hear the person
that was calling but when I called them everything was ok. It happened a couple
of times and then today it happened to Cheri. So this afternoon we went to the
phone store to report out problem. Of course they were blaming the other
carrier because when we got calls from people that had the same carrier has us
there weren’t any problems. I was getting a little frustrated and had to prove
that it was our carrier’s problem because two different carriers had problems
calling us. You see we still have the dumb cell phones. Maybe it is a sign that
we are supposed to catch up with the rest of the world and get smart phones.
The problem is that our phone bill would double. Oh and we were told it would
take up to three days to get our phone problem fixed. So it might be time to
switch to a different carrier.

We didn’t have any place
we needed to be early today so we took our time getting around today. I did
take Grandma for her B-12 shot at 10:45 am. When we got back to her place I did
some weeding around her air conditioner and there was a small tree that has
been growing up by it. I guess it liked being there because it had the moisture
from the air conditioner. It took a little work to get it cut out. I was going
to spray to keep the weeds from coming back but forgot to put the batteries in
the sprayer. So that will have to wait for another day. After lunch Cheri and I
headed to Tampa to a tile and stone place that Mike and Kathy was telling us
about. When I had done a search on the internet it hadn’t come up. We continue
to look for the tumbling block back splash and did find something that we like
and bought a piece to see if it will go with the cabinets and counter top. When
we got home I fired up the grill and did a couple of steaks. It has been a long
time since I have done any grilling and it was a real treat to have a grilled
steak. The new fall shows have started this week, nice to have something new to
watch.

Grandma didn’t go to
church with us today because there wouldn’t be any notes for her to follow
along. We had a guest speaker today, Ryan Loveing along with his wife Mary
Anne. They were here a few months ago doing a four day revival along with their
children and a group of young people. We enjoyed hearing him again. Sunday
school was canceled so we could hear him speak at the second service but we
were too late to get back into church so we along with Mel and Jan headed to
Doc’s for an early lunch. After lunch Mel and Jan followed us home so Cheri
could show Jan how to get started in making her wreath. Mel checked out our
cabinets and thought that they were nice. After they left we called Nikki as
she had called us while we were in church and left a message. She just was
checking in to see how we were doing. The rest of the day was spent watching
NASCAR racing and then this evening watching the Green Bay Packer. It was a
late night as the game didn’t get over until almost midnight. It was a hard
fought game which the Packers won. Cheri didn’t make it until the end of the
game and will be surprised that the Packers won because they were behind when
she went to bed. I have included a picture of the fall wreath Cheri had made a
while back and forgot to get a picture of it posted.

Cheri said that she had a
really good night sleep and I can tell as she is more active and feeling good
today. It was cloudy out this morning and a little cooler because of the cloudiness.
So I decided to go out and wash the motorcycle before I got cleaned up this
morning. It took me until noon to get it done was happy as I have wanted to get
it done for about three months. I need one good day to get it waxed and
polished. Cheri was busy in her sewing room today and came out with a big smile
and said that her Halloween project was done. She told me it was a throw, I am
not sure what that means but I am sure all of you ladies understand. She did
put it in the rocking chair so does this mean you just throw it into a chair?
This afternoon I did some computer work and then watched Wisconsin Badger
football.

Cheri said that she put in
a terrible night and I had a pretty good night. Cheri was busy this morning
doing her house work and then to the sewing room. I was busy getting the
sunroom cleaned up from putting together cabinets. Then I broke down all the cardboard
boxes and took them to the recycle container here in the park. It was noon by
the time I got everything done. After lunch we headed to Dade City to look at a
barn board plaque that Cheri saw when she and Jan went shopping the other day.
It was very nice but we felt that the price was just too high. I told Cheri I
would make one for her if she could wait until the kitchen is done. We also
checked and were told that if it is sold we could order one. From there we
headed to Home Depot to return a couple of can light reflectors and to buy six
more of the ones we decided on. Well they only had two in stock and will get
more in next week so we bought the two they had and headed home. This evening
Mike and Kathy took us out for dinner to repay us for taking care of their house
while they were up north. We eat at Papa Joe’s Italian restaurant up near
Brooksville. We had been there once before and it was very good. After dinner
we headed back to Mike and Kathy’s to play cards.

Cheri and I went up to Mel
and Jan’s this morning as I told Mel I would help him put up the railing he
bought for their entry door. While we were doing the railing Cheri and Jan went
to Dade City shopping. It turned out that one of the posts for the railing was
too short and Mel will have to get another one. So we sat and visited while
Cheri and Jan shopped. They were only gone for an hour as Cheri had a shop that
she wanted to take Jan to. When we got home I worked on the kitchen cabinets
and Cheri worked in her sewing room. At 1:15 pm we headed out to see the movie
War Room which was an excellent movie. The title is miss leading as it is about
a couple that is having problems in their marriage and is all about prayer and
how God brings them back, a great Christen movie. When we got home I went back
to work on the cabinets and Cheri back in her sewing room. I finished
assembling the last cabinet around 5:00 pm and Cheri came out to show me her
Halloween project that she just got done sewing together and now has to put the
backing on and do the quilting and it will be done. Tomorrow I will clean up
the mess I made in the sunroom and get rid of all the packing material. After
supper we settled in for an evening of TV.

We had no appointments
this morning so we took a little more time getting around or I should say I did
because Cheri went right to work on her Wednesday house work. Later she
disappeared in her sewing room. I finally did get to work on the assembling
more of the kitchen cabinets. I had ordered a blind corner cabinet and made a
mistake on my figuring and have to return it so I took time to get the paper
work I needed so I can return it. I have decided to build my own blind cabinet.
At noon I took Cheri over to Sun Rise restaurant as she was having lunch with
Pam and Sandy and then going out shopping. I continued working on the cabinets
and got two more done. I also unpacked the crown molding and light rail molding
and very happy with the way it will look. I went out to the shop to put the
drill battery on the charger and our neighbor Jean was trying to remove the sun
screen from her windows as she is having her house power washed tomorrow so I
was just in time to remove them for her. Pam brought Cheri home and came in to
see the cabinets and Cheri’s wall hanging and the Halloween project she is
working on now. After Pam left Cheri was back in the sewing room working. So it
was a good day in the Sharp’s house.

I received a voice mail
yesterday while we were in the movie from the doctor’s office telling me my
next appointment was on Oct 13th to have the catheter changed. I
wasn’t happy to hear this and decided today to head to the VA and talk with a
doctor to see what going on with me and what is going to be done. We had a
10:00 am appointment and didn’t get in to see the doctor until around 12:15 pm.
It was a long wait but was worth it as I found out what is going to be next for
me. The problem is with my prostate (Pam thanks for the English lesson). I was
told that I have a very large prostate and they are trying to shrink it with
medication so I can have the rotor router process done. If that doesn’t work
the next step would be to have it removed, not anything I want to have done. Pam
had called Cheri while we were waiting to see the doctor to see what we were
doing today. She said that she and Mike were at the dentist. Long story short
Pam called again when she was done with the dentist and we were just leaving
the VA so we met at Olive Garden to have lunch together. After lunch I took
Cheri to Jo-Ann Fabrics which was just across the road from Olive Garden. She needed
a few things for the project she is working on. We also made plans to play
cards early this evening with Mike and Pam in order to be done before Dancing
with the Stars came on. Pam made an apple pie so after a game of cards we had
warm apple pie with ice cream. Pam it was really good and you can make apple
pie any time you want.

When I got up this morning
I checked the temp and it was 69 degrees. We have had a cool front come through
and this is the first time it has been below 70 since spring. Of course it didn’t
last long and the temp was back up into the high eighties. This morning I
worked on the Kitchen cabinets and now have eight of them put together. Cheri
did her usual Monday house work. We left the house at 11:45 am as Cheri had an
eye appointment with the doctor that did the retina reattachment. He said that
her eye is healing ok and will not have to see him again. He gave Cheri a recommendation
for a new eye doctor and made an appointment for her next week. From there we
made a stop at Home Depot as I needed some more wood glue for the cabinets.
Then it was on to Wesley Chapel to meet Ron and Sandy to see the movie 90
Minutes in Heaven. It was based on a true story. We thought that it would be
more about the time he spent in heaven but was more on his recovery. So we were
a little disappointed and felt the title was misleading. After the movie we
along with Ron and Sandy went to Applebee’s for dinner and a nice visit. It was
after 7:30 pm when we arrive back home. Just in time for Cheri to get settled
in to watch her favorite show Dancing with the Stars.

I was up again at 5:30 am,
beginning to think that is my new getting up time. One of the first things I do
in the morning is make coffee. Well this morning I went to get a cup and found
that it was really weak coffee, forgot to put the coffee in. So had to make a
new pot and later I went to get a cup and found that I had forgot to turn on
the coffee pot. Well I finally got a cup of good coffee, must have gotten up
too early. Grandma didn’t go to church with us as there was going to be a guest
speaker and there wouldn’t be any notes for her. Church and Sunday school were
both very good. Afterwards Mel, Jan, Cheri, and I went out for lunch at Doc’s.
It was the first time for Mel and Jan. It wasn’t busy and we had a table in the
back where it was quite which made it nice to visit. After a good lunch a long
visit it was time to head home. It was after 2:00 pm when we arrived home. I
just got settled in to watch the Green Bay Packers when I got a call from our
neighbor Mike next door wanting to know if we were home as he was coming over
for a visit and his car keys which I forgot to leave at their house yesterday.
We had a good visit and got caught up on what they had done for the summer.
After watching the Packers I watched the rest of the NASCAR race that I had
recorded. I was happy to see that my driver got into the chase. I thought I
would be able to work on the kitchen cabinets later this afternoon but just
didn’t have the energy to do it.

I was awake early so I
finally got up at 5:30 am. Cheri has been having problems with her back and
hasn’t been sleeping well. So she took it pretty easy today in order to rest
her back. We did go out early to do a couple of errands. Denise had ordered a
few things and had them delivered here so we dropped the packages off at their
place and then to Wal-Mart to pick up a couple of grocery items for our
neighbors Mike and Kathy as they are arriving from the north late this evening.
When we got home I went to work on assembling the kitchen cabinets. I got three
more done and decided to quit around 3:30 pm as I wanted to watch the Wisconsin
Badger football game. Cheri did work on her fall wreath and now has that
hanging on the front door. She also helped me carry in the cabinets that I got
assembled. The dining room is pretty full now with cabinets, not sure where we
are going to put the rest of them.

I was awake a little pass
4:00 am and finally got up a little pass 5:00 am. Cheri had trouble sleeping
and was up around 5:30 am. Being we were both up early we decided to go out for
breakfast. Cheri has wanted to go to Golden Corral as she likes their chip beef
and gravy. They open at 7:00 am and we got there a little before 8:00 am. Cheri
went for the chip beef and there wasn’t any so she asked them and was told that
it wasn’t ready and would be out in about 8 minutes. So Cheri went for the Texas
toast which looked really good until she turned it over and the back was burnt
black. Cheri turned over every slice in the pan and they were all burnt on the
back. So she told them about it and had to wait. I had gone for an omelet and
couldn’t get anyone to wait on me. So our experience was not good. We said that
if it was our first time there we wouldn’t go back and maybe we won’t anyway. When
we got home Cheri and I went over to the neighbors and took the car cover off their
car and the battery hooked up as they are arriving tomorrow for the winter.
Then I washed the car to get the love bugs off and Cheri washed the windows
inside the car. After all of this Cheri had some house work to do and I started
to work on putting the kitchen cabinet together. We didn’t stop for lunch
because of the big breakfast. At 12:45 pm I took Cheri for a massage
appointment that was for me but because of the catheter I couldn’t have it
done. Cheri felt bad that I could do it but I am sure she enjoyed the massage.
I worked on the cabinets until around 4:30 pm and got the two pantry cabinets
done and one base cabinet about half done. Cheri fixed supper and we called it
quits for the day. We watched a couple of old Chevy Chase movies which were
very good and then called it a night.

Jan came over this morning
so Cheri could show her how to make a wreath for her front door. So while they
were doing that I went and picked up Mel and took him to Lakeland with me. We
made a stop at Home Depot so I could get the additional reflectors and led
bulbs for the can lights. Well I found a different reflector that I liked
better than the ones we were going to get so I bought one to see what Cheri
thought about it. Then we stopped at Wawa to get chocolate shakes. It was early
but when you are near Wawa you have to have a shake and I had been telling Mel
about them and he was ready to have one. Our last stop was at Harbor Freight to
get some new wheels for my dolly as the old ones were flat and needed new
tubes. I bought some never go flat tires and that will take care of the flat
tire problems. I didn’t get home until near 2:00 pm. I showed Cheri the new can
light reflector and she also liked it better than the ones we were going to
get. I watered the flowers, put the new wheels on the dolly, and got the tools
I needed to start putting the kitchen cabinets together. I did get a good start
on one of the pantries and by 4:30 pm I had enough for the day.

Cheri got up really tired
this morning I think it was because of all I put her through yesterday. My
night wasn’t all the great either, kept waking up during the night. We got a
call that our cabinets are going to be delivered sometime between 11:00 am and
3:00 pm. So that put a damper on a couple of things that I had planned on
doing. Cheri got her house work done and said that she was also done for the
day. I put together one of the can lights and brought into the house to see how
much light it would give off. I had bought a can retro fit led light and a
reflector with a led bulb and had Cheri check to see which one she liked the
best. We both liked the reflector with the led bulb the best. So I have a
couple of items to take back to Home Depot and get the additional reflectors
and led bulbs. The cabinets were delivered around 1:30 pm by the time we got
them unpacked from the pallets and into the sunroom Cheri and I were tired and
soaked with sweat. We got cleaned up and headed out to get haircuts which we
had planned on doing early this morning but was afraid we wouldn’t be back in
time. This afternoon Cheri put a pork roast along with onions, potatoes,
carrots in the crock pot to have for supper. So once again we had the wonderful
aroma coming from the crock pot.

We were up early as I had
an appointment at the VA. So we were on the road by 8:00 am. I got in a half
hour early for my appointment. I thought that this was the day I was going to
have the catheter removed. I am not sure what I was there for because all I
wanted was to have the catheter remove as I was feeling really good. Well I did
convince the doctor that I didn’t need it any longer. So she took it out and it
was great being free from it. We hung around the waiting room while I drank 32
oz of water and then went to the rest room and did pass some water. Then we
went to check out a meat market that was a short distance from the VA. We weren’t
impressed with it as we could see that things weren’t very clean. Next we
stopped at the VA pharmacy to pick up a new medicine to help shrink my
prostrate and headed home. Well by 1:30 pm I couldn’t pass water so it was back
to the VA emergency room to have the catheter put back in. Ok from now on I
will listen to the doctor and God as they know much more than I do. So it was
another painful experience that I didn’t have to do if I had listened to the
doctor. From what the doctor said my next step is to have the rotor router done
to my prostrate which I am not looking forward to. It was after 4:30 pm when we
finally got home and we were both exhausted. Cheri fixed pizza for supper and
then it turned out to be nap time while trying to watch TV. One more thing, we
saw another sign that fall is coming as the love bug season has started again
which means three or four weeks of cleaning love bugs from the car.

I spent the forenoon
watching the NASCAR race that I recorded yesterday. Cheri disappeared into her
sewing room and has started a Halloween project not sure what it is going to
be. This afternoon I made up my list of things I need from Home Depot for the
kitchen lights. So Cheri and I headed out to fill my list. I got everything I
need to get started on installing the can lights. I ordered a six inch hole saw
off the internet to make cutting the holes for the cans a lot easier and it
should be here tomorrow or Wednesday. We stopped by to check Larry and Denise’s
house and also made a stop at Wal-Mart to pick up medicine for Grandma. Late
afternoon we got a call from Darren and told us that he and Brooke had been to
the beach for the weekend said it was good to get away from work for a few
days, sounds like he will be headed to China for a couple of weeks of work the
end of September. Around 5:30 pm we headed over to Beef O Brady’s for their
Monday night burger special. We were really disappointed as people that came in
after we had ordered got their burgers before us and when we did get ours the
buns were cold on top and the burgers were very dry, not a good experience.
This evening Cheri said that her stomach wasn’t feeling very good and thought that
it was from the burger, not a good way to end the day.

We along with Grandma went
to church this morning and was really good to get back to church and Sunday
school. I guess you might say we had an old time church service this morning as
the power was off to the church from a blown transformer. So there weren’t any
lights, sound equipment, air conditioning, and only a piano for music. Pastor
Randy had to speak up for everyone to hear. I must say I really enjoyed the old
time service. The worst part was probably being without the air conditioning as
it was getting pretty hot by the time the service was over. We did hear that
they had power for the second service. The house we have Sunday school in didn’t
lose power so we had it cool for class. After Sunday school we along with Mel
and Jan went to ABC Pizza for lunch. I was pretty disappointed in lunch don’t
think it was as good as it has been. We dropped Grandma off at home and then
headed to the theater to meet Mike and Pam for the movie A Walk in the Woods.
It was a funny and very enjoyable movie although the language needed to be
cleaned up. I would give the movie an eight out of ten. Long story short it was
8:40 am when we left the house this morning and didn’t get back home until 4:00
pm. I had the rest of the Badger football game, the Packer per season game, and
the NASCAR race to watch. Needless to say I didn’t get through everything and
still have the NASCAR race to watch. It was a good day to spend time with God
and friends.

As long as it was a free
day and no appointments we took our time getting around this morning. Cheri
made waffles for breakfast. After lounging around with coffee, Bible study and
getting cleaned up it was almost 11:00 am. It felt good not having to be
anywhere today. I did get outside and worked on getting the motorcycle
headlight back together and the bike on the lift so I can give it a good
cleaning. The cleaning will have to wait because it was too hot to be outside
working. I did take the kitchen light down so I could find the ceiling joist so
I could do the can light layout. With that done I figured that seven cans will
do the job. Cheri worked in her sewing room getting it cleaned up and ready for
a new project. The rest of the afternoon was spent in our recliners reading and
watching TV. It was a happy late afternoon for me as there was NASCAR racing on
and then this evening Wisconsin Badger football. But I only lasted until a
little past the half time and was too tired to watch anymore. I have it
recorded so I can watch the rest of it tomorrow.

Gay Sept-4-15

We got an early e-mail
from Pam and Mike saying that she had an early doctor’s appointment and wanted
to know if we wanted to meet them for breakfast at the Village Inn after her appointment.
Of course we were ready as Cheri has been telling me she wanted to go out for breakfast.
Pam’s doctor appointment lasted longer than she thought it would but ended up
having breakfast at 9:30 am. After breakfast Cheri wanted take Pam to a new art
and craft store that opened a while back here in Zephyrhills. The shop has the
catchy name of Bug Splatter. They had a lot of neat and interesting things.
When we got home Cheri did her Friday house cleaning and I went next door to
remove seed pods from the palm trees and pull weeds around the neighbor’s
house. I was going to work on the motorcycle but after I got done at the
neighbors I was soak and wet with sweat and decided it was too humid and hot to
be out. So after getting cleaned up again I worked on the can light lay out for
the kitchen, having a hard time figuring out how many I need and the placement.
Late this afternoon I took Cheri for a massage and told her I would take her
out for supper after the massage. So we went to Sonny’s BBQ. Cheri had a pulled
pork sandwich and I had the lunch half rack of baby back ribs. All was very
good and came home happy and ready to settle in for an evening of TV. I know
that fall is here as we saw a camper pulling a car. The snowbirds are starting
to arrive. Which means our traffic will start increasing making it hard to get
around town.

I took Cheri for her 8:50
am appointment this morning and then when we got home we were both exhausted
and rested for a bit. Then I finished with the water heater which took me all
of about 20 minutes. Cheri headed for her sewing room in hopes of completing
her wall hanging today. Oh last night Cheri said that the garbage disposal
wouldn’t work and the sink was backed up. She did use the plunger and got the
drain working again. Well this morning Cheri checked and we had a leak under
the sink. So you know what my next job was. Good news I got the garbage
disposal working, bad news we still had a leak under the sink and the water was
coming from the garbage disposal. So I headed over to Lowe’s to get a new one
and found one just like the one we had so the install went smoothly. When I was
all done I found Cheri sitting in her recliner and asked her if she got the
wall hanging done. She said yes and I asked her to show me and she said look at
the wall beside your recliner. Yep there it was hanging on the wall and I didn’t
see it when I sat down. Just goes to show Cheri could do all sorts of things
and I wouldn’t know it, maybe I should be checking things more carefully. I got
all my water heater figures together and if I would have used the plumber the
total cost would have been $836.00 plus I had to pay them $125.00 to come and
check it out. My total cost was $57.57 and the insurance company so going to reimbursed
me for my cost of the water heater. So if I add the cost of what I paid the
plumber to come my total out of pocket is $182.57 which isn’t bad for a new
water heater.

I didn’t have a good night,
think I was over tired and woke up a lot. Cheri had an OK night. This morning I
went to work on dressing up the electrical wiring for the water heater. I was
ready to plumb the safety valve and see I needed a couple of PVC fittings. So I
needed to make a trip to Lowe’s but decided to wait until this afternoon as I
had to take Grandma for her 1:00 pm eye appointment. After dropping Grandma off
at her place I went home and got Cheri so we could go to Wal-Mart to get her
medicine and groceries. I dropped Cheri off at Wal-Mart and I went to Lowe’s
for the PVC fittings. I must have looked for half an hour and couldn’t find
what I needed. So it was back to Wal-Mart to pick up Cheri. After getting
Grandma’s groceries and medicine to her we decide to go to Home Depot for the
PVC fittings. I also took back the water heater installation kit I had bought
and didn’t need. Within a minute I had found the fittings I needed and headed
home. It was after 4:30 pm and I didn’t feel like doing any more today. Cheri
fixed pork chops in the crock pot for supper, really good. Cheri did get to
spend some of the morning working in her sewing room.

It was a busy day in the
Sharp house as we had a lot going on. I took Cheri for her 9:00 am dentist
appointment and were back home by 10:00 am. OK it is time for Cheri and me to
get the new hot water heater out of the back seat of the car. It took a little
work but got out and into the sunroom. Cheri headed for her sewing room and I
started removing the old water heater (just thinking why they call it a hot
water heater? If the water is already hot there is no reason to heat it.) The
first thing was to get the old one drained, which took a long time and gave me
a chance to do my Bible study. Getting the old one out was quite the job. I got
a tarp and put it down on the floor and worked the heater onto it then with
Cheri pushing and me pulling we got it out the back door. Then it was time to
get the floor where the old heater was setting cleaned up and ready for the new
drain pan. I had to make a quick trip to Lowe’s to get a couple of pieces of
PVC pipe for the drain pan. By 3:30 pm we had the new water heater in place and
ready to hook up. But that had to wait as I needed to take Cheri for her
appointment at 4:00 pm. I had told Cheri I would take her out for supper after
her appointment. But it didn’t get over until 5:30 pm and we were both tired
and decided to come home and have some soup for supper. Also I wanted to get
back to work on the water heater. By 7:00 pm I had everything hooked up and by
7:10 pm we had hot water. I still have all the clean up to do which will take
me about an hour or a little more and that can wait until tomorrow, too tired
to do any more today.

It was an interesting and
upsetting day. The plumber was only twenty minute late but did call which impressed
me. It took him a while in his mind that we actually had a water heater that
was leaking. He said that he couldn’t hear any leaking and where it was coming
from. My mistake I guess the wet floor wasn’t enough proof. He finally said
that it must be an internal leak. I am not sure what the difference is between
an internal and external leak is, why does it make any different. Well he said
that he would have to go out and call the insurance company. Before he came back
in I get a call from the insurance company telling me about additional things
that are not covered by the insurance like extra plumbing, expansion tank, and
a drain pan all for an additional $425. Plus the $125 to have them come and
check it out but there wasn’t going to be any charge for the new water heater
as the insurance company was going to pay for it. I thanked him and told him he
could take his tools and leave. Grandma had a doctor’s appointment this afternoon
with a new general practitioner because the one that she has been seeing for
years left. Grandma needed a new prescription for her pain medicine and this
doctor said that the government has change the rules and a GP can no longer
give out scripts for pain meds. He said that she has to go to someone that does
pain management. We did drop off the other scripts that she got at Wal-Mart. Then
we headed to Home Depot to check out hot water heaters. I bought a new water
heater, drain pan, and installation kit for $378.66 plus I should get cash out
from the insurance company for the water heater. I also got the kitchen cabinet
ordered. What a day plus we even got a little rain this evening.
