Gay Mar-18-16

Today was road trip day with Larry and Denise. We picked up
Larry and Denise at 10:00 am and headed to St Pete. Our first stop was to see
the Chihuly Collection. Dale Chihuly was a pioneer of the studio glass movement, Chihuly is
credited with transforming the methods of creating glass art and thereby
leading the development of complex, multi-part glass sculptures and
environmental art. However, his contributions extend well beyond the boundaries
of the studio glass movement and even the field of glass: his achievements have
influenced contemporary art in general. Our next stop was the Morean Arts
Galleries. The Morean Galleries are one of St Pete’s premiere art experiences
featuring over 25 exhibitions each year. We did see some very unusual art made
out of all kinds of scraps from junk parts. Out next stop was the Hot Shop
where we got to see some beautiful glass pieces. The high light was see a demonstration
of glass blowing and the making of a tall glass vase. Our next stop was the
Morean Center for Clay. It is located in
the old St Pete freight train depot. We got to see a lot clay pieces in
different stages of completion. It was very interesting on how it is done. We
were surprised there weren’t more artists working. The next stop was Haslam’s
Book Store. It is Florida’s largest new and used book store. They have well
over 100,000 books. Our next stop was the Mazzaro’s Italian Market. I had mentioned
a few weeks ago that we were there and now wanted Larry and Denise to see it.
Then it was time to head back to Zephyrhills to have a fish fry at the Eagle’s.
We have heard from a lot of people that the fish is really good. So this was
our first time there. Larry and Denise got there fish and we were told ours
would be a little later because we asked for baked instead of the fried. We
wait about a total of 30 minutes and kept asking where our fish was and they
kept saying it was in the oven. The next thing they made an announcement that
they were done serving fish. Long story short we didn’t get any fish to eat and
had to go through a lot to get our money back. We dropped Larry and Denise off
and headed home to have a sandwich. Other than the fish episode it was a
wonderful fun filled day spent with good friends. If I get the energy I will
try to post some pictures of our day.
