Gay August-17-09

We did a 103 mile round trip motorcycle ride to Harpswell today. We met Robyn at her friend’s place where she is helping with the lobster fishing and packing lobsters for the stores. She took us to the packing house and where the lobster boats come in to unload. Robyn’s friend Sue took us out for a boat ride. It was almost like traveling through a maze of all the lobster trap buoys. We got to see seals and houses out on islands, also a memorial to all the people that has been lost at sea. The four of us had lunch together at a seafood restaurant; there is nothing better than fresh sea food. Later in the afternoon Robyn took us to Bailey Island. We stopped several times so I could take pictures along the way. We got to see the old cribstone bridge that is being rebuilt. It is one of a kind. They had to build a temporary bridge along the side of the existing for the traffic while the rebuild is being done. It was a great day to be with family and new friends. We got home around 7:00 pm. I have uploaded pictures for the day, see album Harpswell. There was so much humidity in the air it was hard to take and distant pictures. Thanks to Robyn and Sue for showing us the adventure of living on the coast.
