Gay August-20-09

We were on the road with the motorcycle before 9:00 am headed for Fryeburg to take Sharleen and Robyn out for dinner as Sunday is Sharleen’s birthday. We stopped in Auburn at McDonald’s for breakfast. It has been years since we went to McDonald’s for breakfast. It was 11:30 am before we got to Fryeburg. Sharleen didn’t know we were coming. Robyn drove the four of us to Portland and Yarmouth to look at GPS units. In Yarmouth we stopped at the Delorme Maps store to check out their GPS units and see Eartha. Eartha is a 3-dimensional scale model of our earth with mountains and landforms in full 3D, that rotates and revolves, simulating the earth’s real movements. Eartha was given the title of "World's Largest Revolving/Rotating Globe" by the editors of the Guinness Book of World Records in 1999, and still holds that record today. It measures 41.5 ft in diameter. Unveiled July 23, 1998 Eartha took two years to build and represents earth as it is seen from space. It rotates and revolves on a specially designed and built mechanized, cantilever arm. Sharleen ended up buying one for the car and still wants one to go Geo-caching. We eat lunch at Cindy’s; we all had a fresh haddock fish basket. I also had a bowl of corn chowder. It was the best I have ever had. Sharleen and Cheri had fresh blue berry short cake. It was 6:30 pm before we got started back to our campground from Fryeburg. We didn’t get home until 8:30 pm. It was a 160 mile round trip on the motorcycle. I have uploaded pictures of the day, see album Sharleen’s Birthday.
