We were up and ready for breakfast by 8am. Jeanene brought a new recipe with her and we whipped it up. It was a mixture of hard boiled eggs, mushrooms, mushroom soup, mayo, milk and crumbled crisp bacon over toast. It was real good. This recipe is a keeper.

With the dishes done we were ready to hit the road. We went north to Williston to check out the horse farms and training centers. We were lucky enough to land right is the middle of them. We also got to watch of group of people practicing jumping their horses.

By 1pm we were ready for lunch. There is a restaurant in the area called Red’s and we had been there before and wanted to take Greg & Jeanene there. It has a unique atmosphere and the food is excellent. It lived up to what we remembered. We were stuffed when we left there!

Our next stop was Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park. We took the boat along Pepper Creek to the main entrance of the park. This park houses injured animals that are native to Florida.

As soon as we enter the gates, we headed directly to the manatee pool. They were about ready to feed them their last meal of the day and we could get a real close look at them. They are huge. It was neat to see their trunk come up out of the water and grab the alfalfa and lettuce.

We wandered on over to the underwater observatory. You could go down below water level and look out the big windows and see all the fish and the manatees.

We checked out the rest of the park. We saw black bears, red wolves, whooping cranes, bobcat, reptiles, alligators, deer, flamingos, waterfowl and of course 50 year old Lou the hippo, an honorary citizen of Florida.

We took the tram back to the main building and of course had to check out the gift shop before heading for home.

We arrived back at Baker Acres about 6:45pm and just had snacks for supper and settled in to watch a little TV.
