It was a hot day with some
liquid sunshine which is pretty much every day during the summer. This morning
we headed out to the bank and then to get our hair cut. We were back home by
11:00 am. I worked outside and put the last coat of paint on Cheri’s shelf,
tomorrow I will figure out how to hang it (one thing at a time). I pulled some
weeds at the neighbors and sprayed for weeds. The spraying was a lost cause as
it clouded up shortly after and had a hard rain, didn’t look like rain when I
did the spraying. I also did some cleaning in the shop until it was just too
hot to be out in the shop (maybe an air conditioner would help). Cheri is still
bored because she can’t see to do any of the things she likes to do. Been
thinking about putting recessed can lights in the kitchen so did some checking
on the internet to see what type of spacing needs to be done for them. Cheri fixed some of the ham we bought and was
really good, good thing because we have a lot of it.

Grandma went to church
with us this morning. Pastor Randy had an excellent message from the book of
Romans 4:18-25, The Source of Salvation. We didn’t stay for Sunday school or go
out to lunch with Grandma as we had to be on our way to Clear Water. A couple
of months ago I bought tickets to see Julianne and Derek Hough’s Move Live on
Tour and today was the day to see it. We stopped in Wesley Chapel to have lunch
at Applebee’s. It has been a long time since we have been there and they have a
new menu so we tried one of their new wraps, Cheri like it but I wasn’t crazy
about it. We arrived at the Ruth Eckert Hall at 12:50 pm and was let into the
hall at 1:00 pm. We found a comfortable place to sit until 1:30 pm when we
could go to our seats. Our seats were in the middle of the hall and about three
fourths of the way back, which was really too far from the stage. The show was really
a high energy of singing and dancing. It was a good show and probably would
have enjoyed it more if I were about 50 years younger. We both enjoyed it but
felt that we could have enjoyed it just as much if we were able to see it on
TV. On the way home we stopped to see Mel and Jan as they weren’t in church
this morning Jan said Mel was tired from all of the tests he has had. It was
after 7:00 pm when we go home. It was a long day for us.

I am most always is up
before Cheri but not this morning. Cheri
had been up for about an hour. She said that she woke up at 3:00 am and couldn’t
go back to sleep. Neither of us could figure out what we wanted for breakfast.
So I settled for an English muffin and Cheri just had an energy bar. Cheri said
that she was depressed because of her eye. She hasn’t seen any improvement the
last few days. She said that she gets a bright glair and makes it hard to see.
So we made a trip to CVS and got her an eye patch to wear and something to help
her balance. Then we made a stop at Lowe’s to get some salt for the water softener.
Cheri checked out the drawer and cabinet door pulls. We stopped at Winn Dixie
to get some pork chops that were on sale today only for one dollar a pound but
they were out of them so we got a rain check. Ice cream was on sale, buy one
and get one free plus it was an ice cream we really like. This afternoon I put
two coats of paint on Cheri’s shelf and will have to give it one more coat and
that project will be done. I glanced at the temp this afternoon and I see it
was up to 97 which was the highest we have had so far this summer, seems like
it is hotter than it was last summer. The rest of the day was spent in the
recliners.

Yesterday Mike asked me if
I wanted to go out for breakfast this morning and I said that would be nice. Mike
picked me up at 7:30 am and we went to Island Breeze, my first time for
breakfast there. We had a nice visit and asked me if we had a rain and wind
storm come though our park and I said no. He said that a one came through their
park and had a lot of rain and leaves and small branches down and it rained
hard enough to wash sand onto the road. He also told me that their friend’s
house had the fascia trim blown off their house. Mike watches the house while
they are up north for the summer. So after breakfast we went over to check it
out. The trim was only hanging by one screw. We went back to our place so we
could get the ladder and tools needed to fix it. As it turned out it wasn’t
that bad getting it back up and screwed in place. When I got home Cheri was
busy doing her Friday laundry and house work. I finished up with the kitchen
cabinet and then cleaned up my work station that I had used in the sunroom to
assemble the cabinet because it was too hot outside to do the project. I also
worked in the shop on Cheri’s shelf; once again I think I have it ready for
paint. That will be a tomorrow project if I have the energy to do it. Cheri
rested this afternoon, her eye is improving but does affect her because she can’t
focus with the gas bubble in it, makes it hard for her to do anything.
What our new cabinets will look like |

Yesterday the new kitchen
cabinet arrived and was waiting for us when we got home from our day of celebrating
and shopping. I knew the cabinet had to be assembled. We had ordered a sample
door and knew this was the color we wanted but I wanted to get one cabinet to
see if it was build to my standards. Well when I opened the package the first
thing I checked was the door and drawer front and wasn’t happy with what I was
looking as. There were several small imperfections in the door and the drawer
front had less black markings on it. I was tired and didn’t want to deal with
it until today. Needless to say I didn’t sleep well and was worrying about what
I was going to do. So this morning we took another look at it and decided it
wasn’t an imperfection but was character. So while Cheri was doing her house
work I started putting the cabinet together. It took most of the day as I had
to get things set up for the assembly and the directions were very bad. I had
to watch some videos on line and they were some different then what I had. By
1:30 pm it was all together and looks fine and I really like the construction
as it is all plywood except for the door and drawer front. So after all was
said and done we are very happy with it and will be ordering the rest of the
cabinets when we get enough money in our construction budget. This afternoon we
met Mike and Pam at Home Depot to go and see Ron and Sandy, wanted to see how
Ron was coming long with the new knee. He was in good spirits and was feeling
better than he did at this point with his first knee replacement. After a nice visit
Mike, Pam, Cheri, and I went to Wesley Chapel to have dinner at Grillsmith one
of my favorite places to eat. So it turned out to be a good day after all.

Forty eight years ago
today Cheri and I got married in Lewiston Maine. After my tour in the Navy We
moved to my home state of Wisconsin where we raised two daughters (Kari and Nikki)
and a son (Darren). Today we decided to do some shopping. Cheri wanted to see
about getting the materials she needed to make another wreath, we went to four
different stores and they either didn’t have the colors she wanted or it wasn’t
on sale so she decided to wait and see if they have another half price sale. We
took our cabinet and floor samples and stopped at Lowe’s and Home Depot to
check out the granite and quartz counter tops, didn’t see anything that we really
fell in love with. Cheri did find a back splash that would work if we were to
get the right counter top. In between all the shopping we went to Out Back for
lunch. Being it is a high end place to eat I was pretty disappointed with our
meal. I wasn’t bad but I thought being where we were it would be much better.
On the way home we stopped at Harbor Freight so I could get the stand for my
new grinder. Cheri said that she wanted to stop at the carpet store between
Lakeland and Zephyrhills. We always have to go by it on our way to and from
Lakeland. We were surprised how nice it was and all the carpet and flooring
they carry. They did have some back splashes but nothing that Cheri liked. We
asked them if they knew of a place that carried and cut full slabs of granite.
They said there was one on the west side of Lakeland. They gave us the address.
We headed there to check out what they had. Well we got a lesson about all the
different granites. Cheri found two that she likes and one much more than the
other. They are going to call us when they get some slabs of them in which will
be in about a month. We got home at 5:00 pm and found that the kitchen cabinet
I order was here. That will be another story for tomorrow.

It was another early day
for me as I left the house at 6:40 am for an 8:00 am appointment in Tampa. It
was a two step test and had to wait two hours in between the two steps. They told
me I could do whatever I wanted so I went for a walk and stopped at a Burger
King for a breakfast sandwich and coffee then I could see a Wal-Mart a block
down the street from the Burger King so I walked down there and looked around.
Then it was back to the hospital for the rest of my test. Long story short
everything turned out ok, should be good for another 50,000 miles. I stopped on
my way home at the hospital just up the road from where I was to see Ron. He is
doing well and hopes to go home tomorrow. He already has a good range in the
movement of his new knee. It was around 1:30 pm when I got home and was exhausted,
so it was the recliner for me the rest of the afternoon. Cheri had be busy
doing her normal Tuesday house work. Our flooring samples came today, I think
we now know what we will be putting down for flooring. Of course we could
always find something we would like better but are done actively looking for
flooring. Cheri fixed some additional spare ribs and corn on the cob for
supper.

First I need to wish
Grandma (my mother) a happy 94th birthday. She does really well as
she still lives by herself. We were up early this morning as we needed to be at
the hospital in Tampa at 8:00 am. Our friend Ron was having knee replacement
surgery this morning and our Life Group was there to pray with him before he
went in for the surgery. Then we all waited with Sandy until the surgery was
over. Although Cheri and I had to leave early as she had a doctor’s appointment
for her eye back in Zephyrhills at 1:30 pm. Cheri got a good check up and has
to go back in one month, she is still black and blue under the eye and still
has restrictions for another month. We also stopped by Larry and Denise’s to
check their house and everything looks good. We also stopped at Winn Dixie to
pick up the ham that they were out of and had a rain check. We were able to get
two hams with the rain check. The normal price is $3.99 per pound and we got
them for $1.00 per pound. So we got a 12 and 18 pounders. That should be enough
ham to last several months. . We also picked up some of the ribs that they slow
cook in the store along with some corn on the cob. It was around 2:30 pm when
we got home. We had missed lunch so we had a couple pieces of French bread to
hold us over until supper. Around 4:30 pm I started the ribs in the oven to
heat them up along with corn on the cob for supper.

Happy Fathers Day, I pray that
you all called your father to wish him a happy Father Day or said a pray if he
has pasted to let him know how much you loved him. Today was the first day of
summer which means it is the day with the most day light and now it is all downhill
for the rest of the year, which also means we fathers had more daylight to
shine. I got phone calls from all of our kids which meant a lot to me. It was a
pretty normal Sunday for us as we took Grandma to church with us. Pastor Randy
had a good message about fathers and it came from the book of Job 1: 1-5. Charlie’s
Sunday school lesson came from the book of Zephaniah 3:8-17 and titled Our
Great Salvation. After Sunday school Mel and Jan joined us at ABC Pizza for
lunch. After we dropped Grandma off we headed over to Mike and Pam’s as they
wanted to show us flooring in their friends home to see if it was something we
would like in our home. It was very nice but being laminate flooring it would
not stand up in a kitchen area. It was near 3:00 pm when we arrived home. The
rest of the day was spent talking to the kids and watching TV.

We had a restful and
relaxing morning, in fact we both slept in as I didn’t get up until 7:00 am. We
did Bible study and prepared for our Sunday school lesson. Then Cheri called
Mel and Jan to see if they were going to be home as I had a couple of ideas on
how to load Mel’s walker in their car. With a couple changes I was able to fit
the walker in and still have one rear seat up for them. We visited for a while
and then headed to Wal-Mart as we had a few things we needed plus a few
groceries. We got home around 1:45 pm, just in time to get ready for Mike and
Pam to pick us up and go to Lakeland shopping. I should say shopping for Cheri
and Pam, Mike and would just find a place sit and visit. On the way home we
stopped for dinner at the Palace Italian restaurant. Mike and Pam were there a
few weeks ago and said it was very good. Cheri and I split a Calzone and we
both had plenty to eat. We defiantly will go back again. When we got back to
our place we played a game of Phase Ten which Mike won. It was wonderful day
spending time with great friends.

I am always up before
Cheri and when she gets up I always go in and give her a morning hug and kiss. When
I hug her she usually does a little hum. Well not so this morning, I asked her
if her hummer was broke and she said yes. So I asked her what it was going to
take to fix it. Then out of my lovely wife comes the words “I need to go
shopping to fix it”. This morning I took Grandma for another doctor’s
appointment and then to the bank. She had a good check up and doesn’t have to
go back until November which was great news. After lunch Cheri and I headed out
to do some shopping. Cheri wanted to go to IKEA to see what they have for
cabinet door and drawer pulls. They didn’t have many to choose from and Cheri
didn’t see any that she liked. The only thing we bought there was four candy
bars. Our next stop was a flooring store that I found on line that sold vinyl
plank flooring. They only had one that come close to what we wanted and that
was twice as much as what we found at Lumber Liquidators. Our next stop was Tile
of America, a place we have been to before when we were looking for back
splashes for the master bathroom and they had some vinyl floor at that time but
no longer carry it now. We looked at back splashes and didn’t find anything
that would work for us. We were down in the Tampa area and it is now 4:00 pm
with 37 miles to go to get home, not a good time to be in that area has the
traffic was already backing up. We got home around 5:30 pm. I fixed us a sausage,
ham, and egg omelet for supper. Yes Cheri’s hummer is working again.

I took Grandma for her
10:30 am doctor’s appointment with Dr. Reza. I always dread this appointment as
we always have to wait an hour or more. Well today Grandma checked in and
hardly got set down and they took us back to the room which was good. But I
remember having to wait as long as 45 minutes in there. Well within five
minutes the doctor came in and Grandma had an excellent checkup. On the way out
Grandma said that she want to go see the doctor next door as she said her knee
was really hurting bad. So with no appointment I knew we were in for a long
wait. We were told to wait in the waiting room while they checked with the
doctor. In about ten minutes we were told that the doctor would see her. Only
had to wait another ten minutes and we got to see the doctor. The doctor gave
her a cortisone shot in the knee. I think the reason we got in without much of
a wait is because all the snow birds are back north which means they don’t have
as many patients to see. I was home by 12:30 pm and was ready for lunch at 1:00
pm. Cheri’s eye is improving a little each day but still has a long way to go
before she gets clear vision back. Ron and Sandy picked us up at 4:00 pm and we
went to Lumber Liquidators to check on flooring for our kitchen and Ron and
Sandy are looking for flooring for their entry way and dining room. Cheri found
something she liked and they are going to send us some samples as they didn’t
have any at this store. Ron and Sandy also got a few samples. From there we
went to have dinner at a new place but when we got there they were closed. So
we ended up at Smoky Bones as none of us had been there for a long time. Ron
and Sandy made out ok but not so for Cheri and me. Cheri ordered a beef brisket
sandwich and was told that they were out of beef brisket. So she ended up with
fish and chips. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and a cup of soup. When it
came it was a Cuban pork sandwich and a half cup of soup. Long story short I finally
got the right sandwich and they bought me some additional soup. By the way it
was way too pricey for what we got and we all said that we would be crossing
Smoky Bones off our list of restaurants. We made a quick stop at Floor and Décor
to return a sample piece of flooring that wouldn’t work with the cabinets we
have picked out. Our next stop was Wawa for milk shakes and smoothies. We got
home a little after 8:00 pm and had a
great time with Ron and Sandy.

We got around a little
earlier this morning as we were going shopping with Ron and Sandy. They and we are
interested in checking out the flooring at Lumber Liquidators plus having lunch
some place new. They had a guy coming between 8:00 am and 9:00 am to install Verizon
FIOS for TV, internet, and phone service. Ron said that he would keep me posted
as it wouldn’t take very long and then we could go. Well he called around 10:30
am and said that things were going good and should be done soon. Well I got a
call again at noon and said that the installer has run into some problems but
would be done soon and we could still have a late lunch before shopping and would
call us when they were going to be on their way to pick us up. The next call
was at 1:30 pm and the installer still was working. The last call was 3:00 pm
and the guy still wasn’t done. So needless to say we didn’t do any shopping
today. I guess the day was really met for us to relax which we did. We never
did have any lunch because we were going to eat out. So around 4:00 pm I
started fixing an early supper of Barbeque pork ribs, baked beans, baked potato,
and yes some more Mac and Cheese. So our day was spent in Bible study, reading,
and watching TV.

It was back to our usual morning,
except for a few changes. I asked Cheri what she wanted for breakfast and she
said Belgium waffles. Well this put me out of my comfort zone. With directions
from Cheri I got them made. After breakfast was over and getting things put
away I got the dish washer started. Then it was time to sweep and steam mop the
kitchen and bathroom floors. After that was done I got the vacuum cleaner out
and vacuum the rest of the house. It was 11:00 am before I was ready for my
morning shower and shave. I have learned something the last couple of weeks
after doing laundry, cooking, and house cleaning; I hadn’t realized how much
work Cheri does around the house. I have a much better appreciation of all the
work she does, plus picking up after me and never complains. So guys I am
telling you that you should put the apron on and do what your wife does for a
week and really learn that we should be helping them more. This afternoon I
took Grandma for her B-12 shot and then stopped at the grocery store to pick up
a ham that they had on sale. Well they were out of them and got a rain check.
The rest of the afternoon was spent working on Cheri’s mantel shelf. The putty
I used yesterday didn’t work out and spent the afternoon getting it off and now
it looks worse than it did before. I guess I will have to make a trip to Lowe’s
and see what they have that will work. We had a light supper this evening we
each had a Polish sausage along with some left over Mac and Cheese. Yep we did
have some ice cream around 7:30 pm.

It wasn’t a normal morning
as we were on the road by 8:15 am. I had an appointment in Tampa at 9:30 am and
Cheri went with me. We were done and on our way home by 10:00 am. Cheri’s eye
is some better today as she continues to see a bit more out the top of the eye,
although it is just images and not clear, that is still going to take some
time. Cheri rested this afternoon and I worked on putting a coat of paint on her
mantel shelf. I checked it after it dried and was not happy as I didn’t do a
good job filling the nail holes. I now have put in some different filler.
Tomorrow I will do some wet sanding to see if that corrected the problem. The rest
of the day we spent watch Love It or List It on TV. This evening we watch a
couple of movies we had recorded. I was told that I am a year older today, so
that means I must have been a year younger yesterday, funny how you can gain a
year in one day, must be a senior thing.

It is Flag Day and I hope
everyone had a flag up and took time to pray for our solders and our country
because without them protecting our country we could lose what our Flag stands
for.
Grandma went to church
with us today and was upset that there weren’t any notes for her and she said
that she would have went to the other church with her friends if she had known.
Well we didn’t know until we got to church that Pastor Randy wouldn’t be
delivering the message today. Pastor Carl delivered a good message. Charlie did
an excellent job of leading us in Sunday school and very interesting. It was
just the three of us today for lunch. We still went to ABC Pizza for their
buffet which is always very good. Stopped on the way home to fill the car up
with gas and had rewards of forty cent off per gallon which was nice. We got
home around 1:30 pm. I watered the flowers and settled in to watch the NASCAR
race which lasted all afternoon and into the evening a bit because of the rain
delays. Cheri rested and napped. Because of the large lunch we settled for an
English muffin with peanut butter on it for supper. We watched a couple of good
movies this evening and called it a night.

A normal morning for us is
coffee, breakfast, Good Morning America, exercise (sometimes), computer work,
and showers. After all of this it is around 9:00 am or 9:30 am and then we are
ready to face the day. This morning Cheri and I made crock pot of Mac &
Cheese to take to the church for a funeral lunch. I had to make a trip to the grocery
store to get some butter, didn’t have enough to make the Mac & Cheese. While
Cheri rested I took it to church and then back home for lunch. 12:45 pm we got
a call from Jan letting us know that they were done and starting the clean up
so we headed to church to help with clean up. After that was done we followed
Mel and Jan back to their place to so we could give them some of the Mac and
Cheese that was left over and still brought home a crock pot half full. I will
be having Mac & Cheese for several days as Cheri isn’t a lover of it. At
4:00 pm I asked Cheri if she was hungry and she said not so much so I waited
until around 5:30 pm to fix supper. We had the chicken I grilled yesterday along
with the last of the corn on the cob and yes I had some Mac & Cheese. We
found a new show on Home & Garden called First Flip. When I see how they
did some of the work that was done I wouldn’t want to buy the house. It was
funny at times and also interesting, think we watched six episodes before
calling it a night.

It was a busy day for us
as Cheri had an 11:15 am doctor’s appointment in Lakeland to have her eye
checked. We were both worried as she can only see blurred images at the top and
bottom of her eye. We had to wait an extra 40 minutes to see the doctor. As it
turned out the doctor was very pleased with her progress and said that she was
ahead of normal recovery which was great news, prayers answered. She still has
to sleep on her side and can’t lay back in her recliner. She has another appointment
on June 22 in Zephyrhills which will be nice. On the way home we stopped for a
sub sandwich at Subway. Then it was on to Wal-Mart back in Zephyrhills to pick
up Grandma’s medicine and groceries. It was around 3:00 pm when we got home. I
fired up the grill to grill some chicken breast and brats. Now the crazy part
is after the grilling was done we put it all in the refrigerator and went out
to eat with Mike and Pam at Beef O Brady’s here in Zephyrhills. We were back
home around 6:30 pm and settled in for an evening of TV.

Just another day of not
much happening, Cheri continues to rest. Although she does some poking around
as she wants to be doing something. It has been a long trying time for her. Tomorrow
is her doctor appointment for her eye, praying for a good check up. I did a
load of laundry with Cheri’s help as it is a little out of my comfort zone. I
took Grandma for her lab appointment this morning which is a day early but didn’t
have any trouble getting in. It was going to be the same time as Cheri’s doctor
appointment tomorrow. Cheri said that maybe we could get Grandma in early as it
was just a lab appointment. This afternoon I went out and worked on Cheri’s
mantel shelf. I have it all together and now ready for paint. I hope to get a
coat of paint on this week. Late this afternoon we watched another old war
movie, it was pretty good and I don’t remember the name of it. Supper was a
repeat of last night as we had some left over casserole and more corn on the
cob. Our flowers and shrubs in the front of the house are looking really nice
for the summer.

Cheri is still exhausted
and not sleeping well. She has to sleep on her side and has to have a pillow
behind her back so she doesn’t roll on her back. If she wants to lay on her
other side she has to get up and go to the other side of the bed. She can’t lay
back in her recliner so it has been hard for her to rest in the recliner.
Hopefully after her doctor’s appointment on Friday she can get back to a normal
life. I did work outside for a while this morning before it got to hot. I made
some headway on Cheri’s mantel shelf. I got some of the sanding done and the
trim glued together. This afternoon we watched an old movie with John Wayne
called the Green Berets. I know we watched before back in the early seventies,
still a good movie. I had bought some smoked sausage yesterday and today I
found a recipe on line for a smoked sausage casserole which I made for supper
along with corn on the cob and English muffins. Later we had an ice cream cone
for dessert.

It was another down day for
the Sharp family. We are both still pretty wiped from our trip. Cheri eye looks
like that some of the black and blue is starting to disappear. She still is not
able to open it to see. I continue to put drops in four times each day. We did
manage to get the laundry done this morning. Later I went grocery shopping, can’t
remember going grocery shopping by myself. Not counting just for milk or a
couple of things Cheri needed. Putting out the garbage and cutting another
sucker out of the neighbor’s palm tree was all I got done outside today. This
afternoon Cheri went to the bedroom to rest and nap. I watched an old Rambo
movie and iced down my foot, it has been bothering me that last couple of days.
This evening I warmed up the last of the spaghetti pie along with some garlic
cheese toast for supper. Cheri got a few calls from people checking to see how
she was doing, also got a call from Darren.

morning as I didn’t get up until 7:30 am. Cheri didn’t have a good night and
napped most of the day. Her eye is really black and blue and still not able to
see anything out of it. I continue to put drops in it four times a day. Cheri
and I did get our bags unpacked and things put away. I ventured outside long
enough to tend to the flowers and check out to see that everything was ok. I
spent the afternoon going through the wedding pictures and got them uploaded so
if you are interested in seeing them you can click on this link: https://plus.google.com/photos/109645901863112014958/albums/6158073265973276129#photos/109645901863112014958/albums/6158073265973276129
I warmed up the spaghetti pie that Pam
made for us along with the salad for supper. We tried to watch a little TV this
evening but by 9:30 pm we were ready to call it a day.

I was up at my usual time and Cheri a little later but it
was much later for the rest of the group, all because of the late night of eating,
dancing, visiting, and refreshments. After some coffee it was time to start the
clean up, we had a lot of help and didn’t take all that long. After that was
done we sat and watched Brooke and Darren open their wedding gifts. At 12:30 pm
Darren left with Coz, Nikki, and Cece to take them to the airport. It was sad
to see them leave as we don’t know when we will get to see them again. We said
our goodbyes to Brooke, Cheryl, and Chris and was on the road for home at 12:50
pm. The traffic wasn’t too bad and we made pretty good time. We made a stop
about 175 miles done the road for gas and a sub sandwich; in fact it was the
same place we stopped at on the way up. We made one more stop right after
entering Florida, I was so tired I needed to get out and walk around to get
woke up. We arrived home at 7:30 pm. I unloaded the car and told Cheri we were
done for the day. We drove a total of 967 miles and got 36.1 miles per gallon.
We watched a little TV and called it a night. The update of this blog is late
because I didn’t want to get up this morning, also no pictures today, was too
tired to get them ready to post.

The day we have been waiting for has arrived. Today was
Brooke and Darren’s wedding. It was a beautiful day with lots of sunshine and
white fluffy clouds, little on the hot side but it summer here in the south.
The wedding was held at 10:30 am outside in front of the house. There were
around twenty of us here to enjoy and witness the event. After the wedding we
worked on getting the finishing touches done for the reception which started at
6:30 pm with the interdiction of Brooke and Darren. Chris spent the day cooking
tender loin on the grill and had cooked his famous stuffed pork loin for the
reception dinner. Cheri and Nikki along with Cos’s help made potato salad.
Nikki also made her famous bean dip, all things Darren and Brooke had
requested. The band started playing around 6:30 pm and played until midnight. Around
one hundred friends and family attended the reception. Everything went off
without a hitch and good time was had by all. Cheri and I got to meet several
of Darren’s friends that he has told us about over the last ten years. I did
take several pictures and hope have some posted tomorrow after we get home, that
is if I am not too tired from the drive home. It will be a short night and a
long day tomorrow.

It was a day of laughing, storytelling, and work getting
things ready for the wedding tomorrow. The ladies work on making potato salad
and Chris was fixing his famous pork loin for the wedding reception tomorrow
evening. This afternoon the ladies went into town and got manicures and
pedicures paid for by Darren and Brooke. We guys stayed home and finished up
what work needed to be done and relaxed in and around the pool. This evening
Chris and Cheryl (Darren’s new in-laws to be) invited family and friends over
for us to meet and had a catered in barbeque dinner. Cheri and I called it a
night early as we were both really tired from our trip up and not getting a
good night’s sleep. I did wake up at 12:30 am and could still hear people talking,
must have been all the young people. We old people know when it is time to go
to bed.

The only thing planned for today was to take Cheri for
her 10:45 am follow up appointment. We were about half an hour early but got
right in. The doctor said the tear was more at the bottom of her eye and she
would have to keep her head in the down position for a week. In fact the doctor
told her that she could travel to Atlanta for Darren and Brook’s wedding. He
also gave her a prescription for pain if she needed it as she would be
traveling to a higher altitude because of the gas bubble would increase in
size. We were back home by noon and had a wonderful lunch that Pam had fixed
for us. We packed the car, picked up the pain medicine, and filled the car with
gas. We were on the road by 3:00 pm and arrived in Carrollton GA at 10:00 pm.
After hugs and tears we settled in for a visit with family and friends. At
midnight it was time to call it a day. Thank you for all the prayers for Cheri
because without them I know it would not have been possible to have such great
results from the surgery plus being able to travel for the wedding. Thank you
just doesn’t seem like enough.

First and foremost I want to thank everyone for the
prayers for Cheri. The doctor said that the surgery went well and she should
have a speedy recovery. The biggest problem Cheri had was coming out from under
the general anesthesia. She was in the recovery room at 2:30 pm and we didn’t
leave for home until 5:30 pm. She was also nauseated and they gave her three
different meds for that. It was near 7:00 pm when we arrived home. I put her to
bed so she could rest as she was still very groggy. She hadn’t had anything to
eat all day so she said that she wanted to try a piece of toast and some water.
She has to sleep on her side and if she is up she has to keep her head in a
down position. She has a 10:45 follow up appointment tomorrow and should find
out more. I also want to thank Mike and Pam for being with us and waiting with
me while Cheri was in surgery.

Cheri has been very nervous about her eye and the surgery
she is having tomorrow. She did get a call from the hospital and had to answer a
lot of questions. Some which I thought were on the stupid side, can you read
and write, do you speak English, do you need a translator. As the women was
talking to her and told her to write some things down. She has to be at the
hospital at 10:00 am tomorrow and the surgery at 12:00 pm and should be done
and ready to go home at 2:00 pm. This morning we went to Wal-Mart to get her
medicine and there wasn’t any waiting for her. So we called the doctor’s office
and they forgot to call it in. So while we were there we bought a new microwave
for Grandma. We took that over to her place and set it up for her, then took
the old one to the garbage dumpster. It was noon when we got home, after lunch
we both were exhausted and headed for the recliner. I was planning on working
on the mantel shelf I am making for Cheri but was too hot and humid to be out
working. At 4:00 pm we went back to Wal-Mart and picked up Cheri’s medicine and
then over to check Larry and Denise’s house. Then we met Mike and Pam for
supper at Panera Breads. Pam had made a couple of meals of food for us to have
for the next couple of days, how nice is that. So after supper they brought the
food over and then we play a game of Phase Ten. We had prayers before they went
home; we are blessed to have friends that look out for us.

We were both
up early this morning to make our trip to Atlanta for Darren (our son) and
Brooke’s wedding which is on Saturday. By 7:15 am the car was all packed and we
were ready to hit the road. The last couple of days Cheri’s eye has been
bothering her, it is the eye she had surgery on a couple weeks ago. So we
stopped by the doctor’s office to have it looked at and then we would be on our
way to Atlanta. How quickly things can change. Cheri found out that she has a
detached retina and needed to see a specialist in Lakeland. Long story short
the ophthalmologists said that she had to have surgery to repair it and the
surgery will be on Wednesday afternoon in Winter Haven which is about 50 miles
from here. She also has a follow up appointment on Thursday morning back in
Winter Haven. We will not be able to travel to Atlanta for the wedding which
really made things a lot worst. After all was said and done it was 1:30 pm and
we hadn’t had anything to eat as we were going to drive a while and have a late
breakfast and a rest stop. We stopped at Bob Evan’s in Lakeland and had the
worst meal ever (we were both sick during the night with the trots). When we
got home we got the car unloaded and Cheri put things away while I went and got
some groceries as we didn’t have much in the house because we were going to be
gone for a week. We made calls to family and friends to let them know what
happened today. Please pray for Cheri to have a full and speedy recovery from surgery.
She was told it could take up to six months to have clear vision.

Wow! Where did May disappear to, can't believe it is the end of May already. Grandma didn’t go to
church with us this morning because we had a guest speaker and there wouldn’t
be any message notes for her. It worked out well for her that way she got to go
with her friends in Baker Acers and they were also having their church pot luck
dinner today. Our guest speaker was Dr. Tom Kinchen; he is the president of The
Baptist College of Florida. He had a very interesting message. Sunday school
was also very good today; Charlie presented the lesson on The Spirit Filled
Life. After Sunday school Mel, Jan, Cheri and I went to ABC Pizza for lunch. Our
afternoon was busy packing and getting ready to go to Roswell, Ga. It was also
NASCAR race day. So most of the afternoon was spent watching the race while
Cheri did most of the packing, bless her heart.
