We were packed and ready to move by 11:30am.  We only had 75 miles to go to our new campground in Montrose.  We will be staying here for 2 days.  It is a small campground, with GREEN GRASS and we have internet & phone service here.  Hurray!

We got set up, had lunch and then took off on the bike to investigate a group of old buildings.  It looked as if they were trying to create a fort and ran out of funds.  Gay got some neat pictures.

We stopped off at a GMC dealer and Gay ordered new shocks for the truck.  He wants to see if that will take some of the shake out that we feel while we’re driving.  This seems to be a problem with this model truck.  The shocks will be in tomorrow and Gay will put them in himself.

We had heard a lot about the Olathe Sweet Corn grown in this area and wanted to give it a try.  We spotted a guy along the highway with a truck load of corn for sale so we checked it out.  We asked him why this corn was so popular, he said because of the low morning temps and the high afternoon temps during the day; it makes all the sweetness go to the top of the stock.  They only pick the top ears off the stock because that’s where the tasty ears are.  The rest they plow under and use them as fertilizer for next year’s crop.  He gave us an ear to try and we couldn’t believe the sweetness in the ear.

We made a stop at target and then on to some antique, rock & carving shops before returning to the 5th wheel.  Temps today were in the high 80’s.
